I do have something I'd like to share, I came across this penguin video when I was looking for recordings of penguins in their exhibits at zoos (I find the sounds they make soothing, quirky and entertaining). 😊 This video made my heart melt. ❤️

I found what I was looking for! The Penguin Cam! ❤️ There are times when the camera is live, but right now it's a video that you need to turn the sound on for, but I just adore the whole mixture of their sounds in the exhibit. Plus watching the video and seeing them waddle doesn't hurt at all. XD ❤️

~* February 2013 BOAF Club Newsletter *~

Happy Holidays Everyone!
Welcome to our February edition of our monthly newsletter.
It is a Valentine theme we are going with.
Here is a re-cap of the two previous months since no January newsletter.

End Of The Month News - January 2013
We now have 6 club moderators now. Tikimaki is Head Moderator, Hay7199 is his assistant. Duchess is Head Moderator and Head Game Mod also. Cubexline and Prettymint are your new Game Mods. Marie_Lily is our Club Promoter (Recruiter) and Club Cheerer (Cheers the Club On - Does uplifting things to keep the morale high). You can approach them anytime but keep in mind their positions if there is a specific thing you need help with or question to ask.

We now have a club account solely for gifting, trading and prize awarding. You can send donations or pick up creatures from @contests-r-us anytime. We ask that you send friend requests there so all members have full access. If you are a new member feel free to request a bird creature if you need one from there.

From time to time there will be either pairing for activities/contests or grouping members. You have the right to either join in or not get involved in any happenings around the club. The only requirement enforced here is that you always have two kinds of birds in your cove.

It is understandable that you might have to take a hiatus, have gotten really busy or an unforeseen occurrence keeps you away. It happens to all of us and we want you worry free. Do let us know so if your cove needs attending to so we can help.

We have had a surge of new members join us from December to early February since the last newsletter was out. Give a big welcome again and hugs to:

All who are playing the activity will be paired with someone by the 13th at 10:00PM ECT.

- 3rd Club-Wide Activity of the Month -
Starts February 14th and lasts All Day
Update Your Status 6
If you could be an item, just one item what would it be for Valentine's Day?
Post it on your Profile Status and win a prize!
Be creative and have fun, while baffling your friends. 😊

Example Post: "I'm a cheese doodle!" or "Wrapping Paper for Roses"

A different task will be given out for all members to fulfill should they choose to get involved.

:: RAOK FEEDING CONTEST ::
Starts February 10th and Ends February 26th
Valentine is another holiday where you show you care and spread love to others.
Do you naturally help someone you don't know?
Have you done anything kind just because your heart compelled you to?
You will visit 2 - 3 coves daily and leave a Valentine's message on the wall once done.
You are NOT to ask them to feed yours back nor spam their profile.
ONLY Follow the instructions carefully besides a cove's name if there is any.
This is all in good fun and you are helping members of Egg Cave save their coves.
The following coves listed below are set on a weekly timeline.
Due to the complexity of this contest, 3 moderators will be monitoring your progress.

WEEK 1 - 2 Coves To Feed (February 10th - 17th)

No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

(You have to make sure that the sugar mixture boils hard for at least one minute, otherwise the cookies will be sugary instead of creamy. )
You can add other ingredients to this basic recipe. Substitute 1 cup of flaked coconut for 1 cup of the oatmeal. Add some chopped peanuts to the recipe for crunch. Or add some milk chocolate chips after the mixture has cooled slightly.

Time: 20 Minutes
Yields: 24 Cookies

Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup peanut butter
3 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
Directions:
In large saucepan, combine sugar, milk, cocoa, salt, and butter and mix well. Bring to a boil and cover saucepan for 30 seconds to allow steam to wash sugar crystals down sides of pan.

Stir mixture and bring it to a boil that can't be stirred down for 1 minute. Then remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla until smooth. Add oatmeal and mix well. Do not use regular or instant oatmeal; quick-cooking oatmeal is essential to the success of this recipe.

Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to let the oatmeal absorb some of the liquid.

Drop mixture by spoonfuls onto waxed paper or parchment lined baking sheets or Silpat sheets. Let cool until you can touch the mixture; then reshape the cookies to make them more a ball shape. Let cool completely; store tightly covered at room temperature.

You can also pour this mixture into a 9" square pan that has been greased with unsalted butter, let cool, then cut into squares.

HEART-SHAPED SUGAR COOKIES

Ingredients:

1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Preparation:

Mix sugar and butter. Add egg and flavorings and mix thoroughly. Measure flour and sift with dry ingredients and blend into butter mixture, mixing well.

Refrigerate 2-3 hours. When ready to bake, divide dough in half and roll out to 3/16 inch thick on lightly floured pastry cloth.

Cut with floured heart shaped cookie cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheet and bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 7-8 minutes.

Let cool and frost with pink tinted easy creamy icing or put two baked heart shaped cookies together with red-tinted peppermint, flavored icing.

NOTE: If you prefer, cookies may be sprinkled with red sugar before baking.

EASY CREAMY ICING:

1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla or other flavoring
1 1/2 tsp. cream or 1 tbsp. water

Blend sugar, salt, and flavoring (try lemon, almond or peppermint). Add cream to make easy to spread. Tint with a few drops of red food coloring.
