Sylvia stomped a foot anxiously as she waited for a response. She was obviously getting impatient. Suddenly, the girl groaned. She had the illusion meet with the human at the top floor, but she had come from a trap door in the ground. Under the ground would have been a secret passage. All that didn't matter now. She hissed at Andrew. The chitauri NEEDED to be rounded up. The rebels were winning almost all the scuffles with the aliens, with their bare hands and scrapped weapons, no less. When Andrew did respond, she seemed about ready to choke him, but just laughed lightly instead at his "dancing". After a bit, she turned serious again. "They're nearby. Perhaps just around the corner." She paused. "Take care!" She said almost cheerfully as she patted his metal cheek.

"I'm going to check on HIM." Sylvia added. "If the tower goes down, he goes down with it." She said almost menacingly. The demigod's lips tilted up in an malevolent smile, before she dissolved into nothing.

Where she appeared again was outside of the man's cell. Already, a dagger was in her hand. As she was going to step closer towards the bars, she stopped and slid it back into it's sheath. A gun. One of those would be more preferable. The demigod pulled an gun from her belt. It was similar to the one's the alien's had, save for the fact that it was smaller, and more dangerous.

"Let's have some fun. . ." She purred, her green eyes glinting in the dull light.

Aykay heard a sound like a swooshing wind, though she knew that it was something far more terrifying than a mere wind...

SHE often would appear and disappear in a similar fashion and the noise brought even more fear than the footfalls of the man of metal...

They were definitely there, though it seemed the machine master had vanished briefly. She had no way to communicate any of this to Frost, though. The slightest noise could give away their position...

She shook violently. She didn't know what to do. She wished she could ask Margot, but again, she couldn't risk the noise...

One moment, Ray had been nodding vaguely to Aykay in reply to some question or other she had asked (he really hadn't been listening), andthe next thing he knew was that the others had disappeared. Huh. Either tigress had learned teleportation, or he must have drifted off, again, he realized. Sometimes, Ray wondered if his inattentiveness could possibly be a mental disorder of some kind. If only he had some coffee, that would definitely keep him awake. Shaking away that thought before it led him into a(nother) daze, he looked around, wondering where they might have gone. Up? Hesitantly, he approached the stairs.

West was exactly the type who was quite content to sit and eat in silence. She was not impatient, and neither a friendly or unfriendly person, and she had no idea that the silence was considered, 'awkward'. However, when her gaze drifted back to the girl, she noticed something, and, with her curiosity insatiable, she abruptly asked, "Are you..." she thought for a moment about the correct term; "ill?"

Shaula's anger flared for a moment as she heard the girl's question. She stood up, fists banging on the table as her frizzy red hair bounced up. Her finger tips burst into flame, only to be quickly put out. Her brow furrowed momentarily as she quickly remembered where she was and who she was with. She closed her eyes for a moment, and calmly sat down.

Talking through gnashed teeth, Shaula coldly replied, "What makes you think that?" She spoke with effort, trying to keep the anger from erupting out. Her cold eyes narrowed on West, as if trying to make out whether she was being serious, taunting her, or just genuinely confused.

She turned to Loki. "Excuse me," she said coldly. "Are you going to answer me?" she snarled. She felt Loki's nervousness as he struggled to answer her questions.

Kita was almost out the door when she felt an intense bust of anger. Initially, she thought it was Loki's, but an instant later, the thief girl was standing up in a rage.

The anger subsided soon after to a more controlled irritation as she sat down. Kita was shaking as she closed the door behind her. The intense emotion had come so unexpectedly...

She shakily went back to what she'd been doing before the "guests" had arrived. She grabbed her bucket of water mixed with some kind of cleaner and returned to polishing a large statue of Loki with one foot on Captain America's shield and Iron Man's mask clutched tightly in one hand...

The water was cold now, not that it had been terribly warm before. Her hands were cold after even a brief time... She would have to grab a ladder soon to reach the shoulders and head... Her mind became absorbed in her work.

Then she came to the mask...

She usually took her time cleaning it, staring into the empty eyeholes and hoping desperately for some sort of rescue, but today her eyes were on Loki's...

"Why are you doing this?" she half-whispered to herself. She couldn't help but wonder what Loki wanted from a world whose only defense had been a handful of reject freaks...

On the surface, West appeared completely unaffected by the girl's response, but internally, this was feeding her curiosity. Midgardians were definitely very strange. Reaction to concern of wellbeing equals anger?
"You have spots," she informed the girl calmly, "on your face." Spots were a definite sign of sickness, but now that she was looking, this girl's skin was also rather sickly-looking...? Actually, West's own skin tone was similar, but she herself had been a sickly child, and she wasn't human!
However, when she heard this Jones speak to Loki in such a demanding and insolent tone she grew... Uncomfortable. If it wasn't for the fact that this girl had been invited personally to Loki's table, West didn't know how she'd have reacted. As it was, she would do nothing unless Loki asked it; she knew very well he could handle these things himself and he would not thank her for interfering.

Frost stared at Aykay. She was shaking. "Great," she muttered almost in an angry manner. She thought, Now shes having a total meltdown. Whats wrong now? She took a silent step closer to Aykay, careful to not make a sound. Just in case.

Frost started to will the others to get to their senses and follow, then bit on her tongue so hard, it almost started bleeding. She cursed herself for being dependent on others. Already.

She collected her jumbled thoughts and murmured so quietly that you could hear a pin drop. "Oh, just radio Margot or something." She added exasperatedly, "If you're so worried, Ill keep a watch." She stepped back lightly and waited for Aykay to choose.

While Ray chose to walk up the stairs rather than rush into danger- his confidence had taken a blow after getting slashed by the Chitauri earlier- (and running may make the injury worsen, he wasn't sure) (nope, none of Aizel's words had hit home, he'd already forgotten them completely), he decided he may as well save time and call out to them. "Hey, guys! Icing! Tigergirl!" Hmm, actually, why was it so quiet?

Frost whirled around at the voice of Ray. "Dont. Call. Me. Icing." she snarled, just loud enough for him to hear.

Then, she added reluctantly, "Just follow my voice. Oh, and there might be some chituari that may be following after us.or not. "

She added, "Aykays freaked out about something. I have no idea what." Impatiently, she started pacing lightly around the room, just in case. "Hurry up too," she said irritably. Or does-she stopped mid-insult as she tried to call down.

She started pacing again, trying to look for a way to get out into fresh air. "What are your various nicknames?" she asked innocently while smiling evilly...a smile that even Loki would take a picture of and stick it on somewhere.

Aykay turned to the others. They were making too much noise... the metal man would hear them... and then he'd come out and...

She tried to calm her racing brain, but it had gained far too much momentum...

The other prisoners had seen him fight, but she hadn't. They said he was ruthless and she believed it. The few times she'd seen him walk past her cell, she'd felt a brutal sort of fear that she couldn't explain even now.

The other prisoners when they were bored and well enough to talk would spend hours debating if he was human under that armor or if he was Asgardian. One of the men, a cyborg named Kris, claimed that the metal man's name was Andrew, which was not an Asgardian name. But still they would argue until they grew tired of it...

Aykay turned back to the door. So long as Frost and Ray caught on that they must be silent, the metal man might not know they were even there...

Pyra barely noticed the exchange between Frost and Ray as he stared at Akyay. She was freaking out. Again. Maybe the best thing would be to kick her out the window, trust her to live, and ask Margot what to do. Of course, with Akyay out the window, that wouldn't be very easy.
There were sounds coming out of the door they were near. Akyay was terrified. It was obvious everyone had to be quiet, or else something bad would happen. Why didn't they just get out of here and go wherever they were supposed to go next?
With a mental growl, she grabbed a tuft of Tiger's fur, which happened to be the tail, and pulled it away from its owner. Not too hard, since her hand might get bitten off, but hard enough that she would probably, hopefully, swing her head around to glare at Pyra.

Aykay was seriously considering just surrendering before the man of metal found them and attacked, when all of a sudden, she felt something tugging on her tail.

It didn't hurt or anything, but in her current (somewhat jumpy) state of mind, the suddenness of it scared her so badly that she roared and spun around, panting, to face her adversary...

...Who turned out to only be Pyra. Her heart froze in her chest. The metal man was so close by, she couldn't even hope that he didn't hear that.

She shrunk back in utter terror, too terrified to even run. Her legs refused to work... She whimpered and turned to face the door, frightened for her life.

Ray flashed to Icy's side in an instant. He blinked, thinking; 'I'm not supposed to call her Icing? But then what...? Wasn't that her name?' he spent a few moments scratching his head, trying to remember, then gave up. He hesitated, then did the safest thing which was to answer; "Ray IS my nickname!"
He turned to tigergirl. Luckily, Icing had just told him the name, otherwise there was no way he'd of remembered. "Aykay!" he whispered urgently to her as quietly as he could. "What's wrong?!" Even though he realized she couldn't answer in her tiger form, he hoped to make her snap out of it.
Even though he had wanted so badly to go up to the top levels of the Tower and dig around for anything he could save, it didn't take a genius to know that more Chitauri were bound to show up any moment, and everyone was already very tired. And now this.
"Come on, Aykay, let's get out of here!"

Tony Stark gasped, clutching at his shoulder. That last run felt like it had struck muscle, or even bone, but there was no time to lie around. Using the bars of the cage for support, he dragged himself up to his knees.

Straight ahead were a pair of devilish green eyes. His heart caught in his chest sharply. Loki's appearance couldn't mean anything good. His field of vision widened then, and he caught sight of soft lips and tumbling hair. In a perfect world, he might have made a pass at her.

"Sleigh got ahead of you, baby reindeer?" he taunted, peeling back his lips to show a yellow-toothed grin. "Don't think I didn't hear those alarms. Fire, security breach--Daddy's not going to let you keep your toys if you play with them like this."

Andrew rolled his eyes at Sylvia and scoffed. Suddenly, a bunch of weird noises was exchanged down the stairs- wait. That's excatly were Sylvia said they were. What? No, I'm not going to get fooled by her stupid magic trying to trick me. Andrew growled and stomped his foot, showing Sylvia that he didn't have time for stupid jokes now.

Aaron vaguely collected that a poker was thrown into his hands. "What? No! Margot, take it back. Seriously, you unarmed and me armed? That's the worst plan EVER!" He whined to her, unnecessarily thrusting the poker back to her. "Just protect me, and I'll be fine. Seriously? Have you ever seen me with a weapon? I think not. And not ever will that happen." He stamped his foot unnecessarily.

Loki's jaw clenched as his shoulders stiffened after Jones spoke in an extremely unappealing way. His green eyes flashed as he glared at her, almost as if daring her to do it again. His fist clenched as he exhaled forcefully, "Get out."
He nodded to West; she could do whatever she wanted to Jones. He didn't need her stupid services anymore.

Frost stopped. "Wait, so Ray is your nickname?" Then she shook her head. "Nevermind, we'll just figure this out later." Then she added, " It's Frost, not Icing, not Frosting, not some other name. Not yet, anyways."

Turning back to Aykay, who still seemed frozen with fear, she sighed. "Come on," she added after Ray's urging. " I don't think I can carry you at all all the way out while fighting for my life, so...Earth to Aykay." Frost tried waving her hand in front of Aykay's face.

Sylvia narrowed her eyes. "It would do you good if you were to keep quiet. I'm not here to play games." she said calmly, seemingly unfazed by the man's taunts. Her hand tightened around the gun, and she took a few steps closer to the cell, so that she was only a foot or two away from the metal bars. She brought the gun up, pointing it at Tony's head, then slowly moving it down so it pointed to his chest. Her eyes flickered to the entrance to the room, then back to the man in front of her.

Margot's first reaction was confusion--she hadn't expected him to lash back at her. That sentiment faded quickly, however, as her raised eyebrows lowered into a vicious scowl.

"I'm not unarmed," she corrected, pronouncing each word like the pull of a trigger. "I have my gloves, my screwdriver, and if all else fails, my fists. And as for protecting you," she continued, leering over him, "I can't afford to babysit if we get into a fight." With a sharp move, she pushed the fireplace poker back into his chest, hard enough to bruise.

"It's not a crossbow, it's a metal stick. I'm sure you know how to swing, at least in theory." She sighed through her nose and pressed her weight back into her heels. They were passing the 60th floor.

"I really need you to listen," she said more softly after a moment. "What we're about to do is huge, monumental. I need to be able to rely on you to do what I say, even if you might not like it." The screen read 55. Margot switched on her gloves.

@bunnyshadow
The corners of Stark's mouth twitched downward in a frown. Girls were supposed to look cute when they were angry--clearly, there were exceptions to that rule.

"I don't know anything now that I didn't know when you last interrogated me," he said softly. "So what's this about? Tearing me up isn't going to fix what you broke, and it certainly won't please Daddy."

Sylvia's finger pushed down on the button, and the weapon let out a single shot that flew past the man's head. "If I remember correctly, I told you to keep quiet." she said menacingly. Her eyes flicked back to the doorway, then to Tony once again. "Next time, I won't miss."

Aykay snapped out of her daze. She was still shaking, but her fear was no longer paralyzing her. She shook herself and transformed back into her human form.

"I'm sorry." She said. "When I was imprisoned here, we were taught to fear Master..." she corrected herself, "to fear Loki's officers. The man on the other side of that doorway is a particularly strong officer and the Machine Master's companion. The only way up to the next level is past him."

Almost like a puppy, Aaron backed down and accepted the weapon, terrified. He nodded swiftly when she told him that she needed him to listen.

Oh no, didn't she realize the problem of giving him a weapon?
Might as well give Barney a stinking timed atomic bomb!
Biting his lip, Aaron sweated profusely. His hands were slippery and he couldn't hold the poker properly.

She didn't heed his warning.

Oh no, and now she expected him to fight with it, oh no, did she realize that she needed him alive to keep everybody alive? Oh no, she didn't! Aaron's cheeks were soon wet with sweat and tears.
Opening his mouth to say something, he quickly closed it again as he remembered her last reaction to when he spoke. Wiping his face with his dirty red shirt, Aaron crossed his legs while standing. Dropping the poker from his damp hands, he made an odd face. Giving in to his human needs, he quietly whispered:

"I need to go pee."

"You wouldn't do that," Stark replied coolly. "Not here. Not now." Clasping the bars of the cage tightly, he pulled himself to his feet. Sharp pain spiked through his wounded shoulder, and he clenched his teeth in a wince. "But if you want to play the silent game," he continued with a slight shrug, and gestured as if he were zipping up his mouth.

@skylark
Margot rolled her head over slowly to stare at Aaron. She wondered if it was too late to exchange mission partners.

"Hold it in," she muttered after a moment. "If you get in too much trouble, you can void your bowels and play dead."

The elevator arrived with a ding.

Cautiously, she entered the floor. The elevator had deposited them at the end of a long hallway lined with tall doors. At the end of the hall was steely grey reinforced door, with a deadbolt and a heavy padlock. The padlock was hanging open.

"Bless me Ultima," Margot mouthed, and ran as silently as she could toward the door. The security cameras had shown that this floor was empty; all they had to do was stay quiet and avoid attention.

Scrabbling with the padlock, she finally managed to get it off the door without more than a tiny scrape. The thing was unbearably heavy; she could barely keep from dropping it the minute they were clear. With one last check to make sure Aaron was behind her, she took a deep breath and then flung the door open.

West immediately jumped up from her seat, lithe as a cat, grabbed Jones by the collar an proceeded to drag her for the door with inhuman strength. "Excuse me," she called out sweetly (a repetition, as Shaula had said the same thing just before) as she closed the door behind the two of them.

Ray shrugged. "Yes, well, we don't need to go that way, and if you're freaking out this much just knowing they're next door, I assume you don't want a reunion? Let's go!" he repeated, grabbing her hand to hurry things on and turned for the exit.
He was starting to get a bad vibe from this place. The quicker they got out of here, the quicker they got out of danger.

"What makes you so sure I wouldn't?" she said softly, her lips tilting up in an amused smile. Her eyes flitted towards the door again, before returning back to Stark. "I'll bring you outside, and give you 5 minutes to make a run for it, if you act frightened, and like you're in pain for when our visitors show." She paused and smiled at him. "Of course, I could also just simply hurt you instead of having you act."

Right as she finished speaking, she heard soft noises coming from the other side of the door. The demi-god edged towards the cage, then teleported inside. She kicked at his legs and pressed the chitauri gun to his head.

Aykay let Ray drag her almost to the door when she remembered something that made her stop suddenly. The smell of the machines that she had detected when they had entered the room. They hadn't seen a single one...

She had an uncomfortable feeling about this. Tentatively, she looked up. Crawling through the rafters were twenty or so machines, all of them glaring down at them.

It's like a hive... she had said so herself. It made sense that they would live on the floors without prisoners...

"Don't make any sudden movements." She told Ray and the others.

Now out of fire power, hence the lack of ammunition and proper weapons, Aizel resorted to snooping around for anything worth her attention and use. Quickly, she accumulated a few tangy Chitauri blades from a slaughtered monster's hand and swiped up Ray's abandoned sparkly staff. She still wasn't accustomed to working with such a gizmo, despite seeing it in it's full glory in both Margot's and Ray's hands. Hm, guess she just wasn't proficient enough with technology - had never been and never will be. Frankly, Aizel liked it that way - shooting like an old-fashioned moron was better than brandishing one of these sinister canes... or whatever they were.

And speaking of canes and Ray, where was everybody? She was ready to ascend up the stairs in a thundery manner when a pearlescent blur in the far east end of the cell hallway caught her eye. It was a blur similar to the one in the cell that she hadn't taken any time to look at. Still, the sight was quite recognizable - a blue-eyed blonde woman, clad in a tight white suit... Even without being Banner, Aizel could guess that sort of person wasn't suited for a moldy old cell, therefore wasn't an ordinary prisoner.

Dropping all thoughts (and worries) at hand, the raven head paused in her steps, to throw the girl a gander with substantial amount of wariness. The profound curiosity towards such a strangely ingratiating being, albeit that curiosity being succinct in the very back of her head, made her feet seamlessly sweep forward.

And before she knew what had possessed her to do such a stupidity, she already stood near the blonde. Hm, why not throw a sarcastic remark while she was at it - that would arrest any suspicion of the stranger that Aizel was stalking.
"Woah there, easy with the fists - fight's over already." she chuckled, referring to the blonde's battle posture.

Frost looked up--and sighed. "Seriously?" she murmured. She was starting to regret all this. Even when she was by herself, it was never this bad.

She stepped slowly towards the exit. Somehow, the chituari reacted, and came swarming? hurtling? pelting? down on them. She winced as one practically slit through her arm and leg. Ignoring it, she got ready to fight.

Frost lashed out her two daggers and smirked. "This is a challenge? We'll see about that." She kept her voice steady, even though she was slightly nervous. Frost hoped that the others would react quickly, and started to fight.

Slash here, stab there. It was almost like a dance of fury.

The second the machines started swarming, Aykay knew she was in trouble. In her human form, she was extremely vulnerable. She depended on her tiger form in a fight, but transforming would leave her even more vulnerable... She needed to think of some other way to defend herself.

Just then, a glint of metal crossed her eye. A rusted suit of armor lay in pieces on the ground. The helmet was smashed right in, uncomfortably similar in shape to one of the machine's feet and the chestplate and one arm were missing altogether, but the right hand was still there. And the spear-like lance in its grip.

Not bothering to waste time with a second thought, she scrambled for it, grabbing it and turning around just in time to skewer a machine on it. She looked down at the thing in shock before turning to the next one.

Unfortunately, the lance was heavy and difficult to maneuver and she was soon overwhelmed. She got two more machines before one got hold of her arm. She screamed as he pulled her closer and reached for her throat. She was thankful that none of these machines seemed to have guns, likely because they'd just been resting. She screamed again and again, trying to kick herself free with little success.

With a half-groan, half sigh, Frost slowly made way through the 3 chituari in the way and stabbed the back the one that was choking Aykay. Then, with a sideways glance, she asked, " Maybe you would like to borrow my dagger?" while slashing another chituari that was coming in the way.

She stole a quick glance up, and more chituari seemed to be coming down. She almost shrieked as one hit her injured side. Instead, she just let out a gasping breath.

Suddenly impatient, she said again, " Well..hurry up and decide." Frost could see that lance was considerably heavy for beginners. Suddenly, she had an idea.

Frost cursed at her idiocy, and ironically, a chituari piece came flying at her head. She ducked, and yelled, "Aykay! Can you use your lance in tiger form?"

Aykay gasped for air as Frost came to her rescue. She grabbed hold of the lance once again and slammed it clumsily into one of the machines.

"I doubt I'd be any better with a dagger." She said between blows at an oncoming machine. Her arms were starting to get tired... "And I would break my teeth trying to hold onto that lance as a tiger... I just need cover to transform." She beat back the same machine who had come back to try again to get at her.

She wasn't doing much damage. She was only slowing them down a little. She longed for the tiger's sense of confidence that the human part of her lacked.

-Your human self is weak... pathetic.- said the voice, mockingly.
