Oh, god. Not more of these things. Stark Tower seemed to be absolutely crawling with them. For the first time, he wondered if this perhaps had not been the smartest tourist destination. Still, this was Ray, and even after everything they'd been through today, he somehow worked up the energy to flit around the battlefield, between Chitauri blades and fists, so fast that his enemies could not follow and he appeared to be teleporting from place to place, knocking Chitauri down left and right.
"I'll cover you," Ray said, darting in front of Aykay and smashing the Chitauri which had been bothering her so hard in the stomach, it canonballed backwards and bowled over several others behind it, knocking them unconscious.
His greater speed made it a lot easier for him to fight several Chitauri at once, and he had no trouble picking up Aykay's slack, so long as he was careful this time. In fact, the sharp but bearable pain he felt from in injury whenever he moved helped keep Ray more alert than ever.

Since Ray had THAT covered...Frost went to a better angle to examine the nest while fighting. She didn't dare roundhouse kick, or that might just split her leg into two...but her slashing was getting slower.

There seemed to be an entire network of tunnels that led all the chituari to their floor. If they kept this up, they'd all die from the onflow itself. She pondered out loud, " Is there a way to clog this up, blow this up, or do something to trap them there?"

Aykay couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. With Ray covering her, she transformed. All of that wonderful confidence came flowing into her like a warm drink on a cold day. She felt as though if her tiger face could grin, it would.

She roared (maybe a little too loudly) to let Ray know that she was good. She tackled the nearest machine and immediately leapt at another, headbutting it. She could now keep up with Frost and Ray as she darted back and forth.

She heared Frost's question, but even if she'd had an idea, she wouldn't be able to vocalize it. There seemed to be no end to these things and she was soon playing a very dangerous game of dodge and hit, where one wrong move might just mean more than the cut on her shoulder from earlier...

When the Chitauri rained down, Pyra felt like facepalming and hiding in a barrel. She didn't, she might have if nobody knew she was there, and if there was actually a barrel around, not just a sleek metal hallway. Instead, she raised her weapon, and shot. Not the best shooter of all time, she almost got the top of Frost's head on her second shot, but she managed not to hurt anybody that wasn't an evil machine. That was all she needed. The weapon didn't have a set number of shots, as far as she knew, so it didn't matter if she missed. She just had to not hit any allies in the process.
Her adrenaline was high, even though she wasn't in close combat, which would kill her in five seconds. She had been a bit slower than the others, giving her some space to shoot and not panic more than she already was.

Frost felt..alive all of a sudden. especially after Pyra nearly shot her. She ducked in case, then continued combat. Sure, s he was bleeding without stopping, and there was an........interesting size of a pool of blood at her feet, but battle was what she pretty much lived for.

She was slightly annoyed at Aykay for not answering her, but then she remembered that she was a tiger right now, so s he maintained her cool.

She asked, " Anyone got ideas?"

Aykay roared in response. No. She had no idea what they could do. She tackled a machine that had just jumped down behind her and left him there to rethink his strategies a little. She couldn't spend too much time on any one of them. There were far too many for that.

She felt a claws scratching at her, but she was doing a good enough job of keeping them far enough away to prevent any real damage.

Frost seemed to almost be enjoying this. It infuriated her a little. This wasn't some game that they were playing for fun. But at least her "fun" seemed to be doing some damage, so she figured she shouldn't worry so much.

Even though they all seemed..well, not dying or about to drop dead, Frost decided that it was time to tell Ray about Stark. They could use a little motivation, she thought. Besides, she REALLY wanted to see what was that so-called scary "metal man" was like.

While the chitauri were still trying to draw on their faces with their pointy fingers, Frost yelled, "Hey Ray! I may have forgotten to mention, that if we get past the metal man and keep going up, we may find Stark! Apparently he's alive!" She coughed slightly after that, partly from the dust that was crumbling down the room, and partly from the smoke before, but she had the barest hint of a smile playing on her lips, waiting for a reaction.

Ray paused. Ah, [yeep], stopping could get me killed, he remembered, ducking just before a Chitauri blade ran him through, sliding under the creature's outstretched arm in that instant, and giving the thing a hard right hook. It actually sent the Chitauri flying so high it smashed it's head on the ceiling. Huh. Ray gave a quick smile of satisfaction at the loud cracking sound, before turning his attention back to the others, who were starting to look a little hesitant about getting near him. Good...
Now, what had Icing- uh, Frosting- no, just Ice! been telling him just now? Right! Stark was alive and in the tower.
... Stark was alive and in the tower?
.....
EHHHHHHHHHHH?! Ray accidentally forgot he was only super-strong in his right hand, thanks to his gauntlet, and kicked a Chitauri..... Stubbed his toe for the second time that day! That really pissed him off!! He was really mad! When Ray was in a bad mood, people should definitely leave him alone.
"Was now really the best time to tell me?" he growled as, before the enemy could react, he swept the Chitauri's legs out from under it and stomped on it's head for good measure, as he did so simultaneously having to fight several others.... Ugh! These things just don't stop coming..... It really made him long for the superpower of coffee, sigh, help him stay awake during such a boring battle...
"We need to get out of here. Let Margot and Wonderboy handle the prisoners upstairs," he said coldly, forgetting put on his usual happy-go-lucky act. The others didn't know what he thought of Stark and right now, he was immensely glad of that. To be honest, Ray wasn't feeling anything right now, apart from sick of ugly Chitauri mugs. He was probably tired.... Something which didn't happen often.
He smashed up the Chitauri far more viciously than before, and began backing closer to the others.

When Frost said that about Stark, Pyra's jaw almost dropped. Almost. She took a glance at Frost and immediately didn't trust her. There was a large amount of blood coming from her, and there was no reason to mention it now, of all times. She wondered how completely sane Frost was. Did loss of blood make her words questionable? With her small knowledge, Pyra wasn't sure. She was certain her health and fighting condition was, though.
Lost in thought, Pyra forgot the chitauri until one manadged to lodge a knife in her chest. Ooh. OUCH. She managed to shhot the knife-wielding beast before the... Weapon dropped out of her hand. She staggered back into a wall as everything went black.

Aykay lost focus for a second listening to Frost and Ray and was rewarded with a blow to her head. She was momentarily disoriented, but forced herself back into full consciousness. She would have to pay them back for that one later...

Frost seemed ready to run upstairs, while Ray seemed keen to be heading in the opposite direction. In all honesty, Aykay was a little more on Ray's side, but there was a feeling of guilt that had begun to plague her.

Margot had told them to keep moving up. There were people up there who needed to be freed, and among them was one of the Avengers and a symbol of the rebellion, Tony Stark. Although she had mixed feelings about it, she would just have to trust that Frost (and Pyra and Ray if they decided to come) were stronger than the metal man, because they were certainly more powerful than she was...

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Pyra. She was about to get her attention when she collapsed. A machine had gotten her. She roared desperately to get Frost and Ray's attention.

Frost cursed creatively. She gave herself a recap. She was bleeding and probably drying out, Ray stubbed his toe and turned grumpy, Pyra was knocked out and also bleeding to death, probably faster, and Akyay...was also injured, but was probably ok.

Leave it to me to flip everything around, she thought angrily. Suddenly furious, she changed the dagger on her good arm into a daitō, or a extremely long sword in Japanese, and started slashing her way to where Pyra was. Putting her back to Pyra for a moment, Frost knelt slowly down, while kicking the chitauri in some...what would normally be inappropiate parts, but chituari didn't have them...did they? Distracted, Frost was cut once again, although in revenge she did cut the claws off. Fascinated, but trying to focus on both the battle and Pyra, Frost put them aside.

Frost observed Pyra with a quick scan, then ripped some of her dress apart and pressed them on Pyra's wound. She now felt sick and lightheaded, but she bit her lip and kept holding.

This gave her another angle to look at the rafters. Her eyes widened as she saw something new.

"We may be able to trap them here," she said almost quietly. "And we have to get out of here," she added grudgingly.

Her point was emphasized as Aykay and needed help. Frost was torn.

Aykay finally made her way over. The machines were attacking Frost as she tried to check up on Pyra, and it was probably not helping her at all...

Aykay put herself between the machines and the two girls. Frost could probably handle it, but Pyra needed her full attention right now. She roared a challenge at the machines, who seemed more than happy to comply.

She roared in pain as she felt one slash at her right front leg, but she kept going. The others were hurt worse than she was. She had to power through it.

Where was Ray, though? She couldn't see him past the machines, but she could still hear and smell him, so he hadn't ditched. She looked briefly to Frost hoping she had a solution to their problem.

Frost was swimming in a puddle of pain, misery, confusion, dizziness, and now feeling very burnt and clammy at the same time. She looked to the bloody mass which were supposed to be her leg and arm, and her heart sank. They were swollen, puffy, and red. "[yeep]," she muttered. If this kept up, she could develop a fever or something....She cleared her head once again and answered Aykay's unworded question. They had to get out of here and treat everyone's wounds, especially Pyra's.

"Well, see that crumbling material over there?" She awkwardly gestured to what she saw, while trying to not show how bad it really was and how much pain she was in.

She continued. "Maybe we could get Pyra out...and then use your spear to dislodge enough of the material down. I would, but I doubt that I could shoot well. We could head down back where Aizel is, and find out what to do next." She finished breathlessly.

Aykay flinched when she saw Frost's arm. Forget her earlier need to follow Margot's orders. They needed to get out of there and fast.

She nodded numbly at Frost. She had dropped the spear near the middle of the room and she would have to run and get it and then transform to throw it. Needless to say, the idea was a bit repulsive, but they needed to get out of there.

She took a deep breath and ran at the machines. She was vaguely aware of the claws raking her hide, but the tiger in her had a target now and that kept her focused.

She could see the spear now, just ahead of her. She transformed in mid-stride, grabbed it, took aim and threw it.

She noticed two things as the spear left her fingertips. First, she could see immediately that her aim was way off, and sure enough, it hit and stuck in the wall a foot away from the weak spot. The second thing she noticed was the logo carved into the handle of the metal spear.

Stark Industries.

The second the spear hit the wall, a light on the butt end of the spear began to blink rapidly and there was a loud beeping noise. It was only then that she recognized the "suit of armor" from which she had taken the spear.

It was all that was left of Tony Stark's Mark 1 suit... All of the weapons had been stripped from it and it was only a shadow of its former self. And if the suit of armor was really his first suit, then the spear might just be an experimental weapon, which suddenly gave significance to the blinking light.

"GET DOWN!!!" she yelled at the others and began to transform as she ran. There was a long beep and suddenly the wall exploded, knocking Aykay to the ground. She covered her head and closed her eyes.

As the wall came down, Frost ducked. Something debris hit her, making her flinch, but there weren't many pieces shooting for them.

After what seemed like an eternity, she finally peeked up--and was rewarded with a mouthful of dusty gas.

Coughing profusely, she doubled over for about another minute, then finally sat up again. Most of the chitauri were gone, and had almost scattered or were hiding, so it seemed safe to go.

She tried carrying Pyra, but when she stood up, she stumbled, and her leg buckled, even without the weight of Pyra. Worse, everything flashed black momentarily, and even after that was gone, she still felt nauseous. In a hoarse voice, she said, "Ray! Aykay! I may need a little help carrying Pyra." As much as she hated needing help, Frost knew that she had a high chance of not making it out consciously. She leaned against the wall for support, and sighed resignedly.

Aykay pulled herself out of the rubble. Her tail was crushed under a rock, but it was safe to be human now, so she reverted to that form, eliminating the need to worry about a trapped tail altogether.

As she walked over to Frost, she looked down at her arms and sides. The machines had had a real go at her, but complaining would get her nowhere. Pyra and Frost were worse off.

She transformed back to her tiger form and nudged Frost's arm gently with her nose as an offer of help.

Frost looked at Aykay in tiger form as she nudged her. She paused. Aykay could carry Pyra down the steps, but nothing could hold her down. She'll fall right off, she thought, a little deliriously. She needed advice.

"Aykay...which do you think would be better for Pyra?" she asked hesitantly. "Us both as humans, or you carrying her as a tiger? I don't know if she'll stay on your back or.."she trailed off as another wave of nausea hit her.

Aykay positioned her head under Frost's arm. She didn't look all that steady, and she might need something to lean on.

She growled quietly and raised a paw towards Pyra, as if pointing. She then touched the back of her paw to her face, trying to indicate that she could carry Pyra as her tiger self. They would just have to position her carefully.

Frost, for once, was glad of Aykay's gesture. Aykay seemed to be siding with using tiger transportation. She took her arm-her good one off of Aykay's head for a moment and put her hand on the wall for support. Using her other hand-which you could barely tell that it was a hand now-she ripped off two small pieces of her dress, just enough to tie Pyra to Aykay. She paused again, then slowly heaved Pyra up to Aykay. Black splotches were in her eyes for another moment, then her sight recovered.

"Stay still," she murmured. She tied a slightly tight knot around them both.

"Ok," she said, sastified. "Let's go."

Ray had heard Tigergirl- uh, Aymay- Amy? .... Tigergirl's shout to get down and had immediately used his punching bag- uh, the stubbornly-conscious Chitauri he'd been thrashing- as a shield, as so even though he'd been quite close to the explosion, he was unharmed, although a lot of bothersome dust had got in his eyes (and lungs) as a result, and it took him a few minutes to clear his vision (and lungs). That accomplished, he immediately sought out his friends. (he dumped the unfortunate Chitauri down on another of it's kind which had been trying to get up).
The battle-daze was starting to wear off now, and he remembered a little piece of information, something about Stark, which in that state, he of course had immediately shrugged off as "irrelevant".

Ray was from a military family. If he hadn't been capable of fighting, then he would definitely have been cast out. But the thing was, "Happy-go-lucky Ray" was not soldier material, at all. That innocent Ray functioned on emotions, and if he had acted like that in the fights, he would have died several times already in these fights. For example, when the Chitauri had slashed him back there across the chest. If he wasn't utterly serious, clear-thinking, there was no way his mind would be able to react fast enough. Like computer overload. If too many things were running at once, Ray would definitely function slower.
But it was more than thinking clearly. In order to achieve this, he had developed a split personality.

Proper emotional response to the news about Stark would be happiness, right? He forced that oh-so sunny smile of his, and brought back that goofy, innocent look. "Was it true what you said earlier?" he asked Ice quickly. "He's up there?" he glanced upwards, thinking. Damages to himself were minimal. If he could possibly go up, maybe he could find what he'd been hoping for. There wasn't much chance it was still there and unharmed, but... "Really?! I can't believe it! Oh, maybe there's a coffee machine too, mmm..."
Maybe he was overdoing it? Never mind. The others were definitely too injured to go on, but if he could get rid of them- er, send them on their happy, safe way- he could go up alone.

Aykay nudged Ray's hand. He could help get Pyra up onto her back, since Frost didn't seem up to the task. Her nose was met with cold metal when she made contact with his hand and she pulled away from it suddenly out of shock.

She was certainly curious, but she didn't say anything. They were far too busy. She made an impatient noise and looked down at Pyra, then back at Ray with an expectant face. She wasn't used to all this miming... she hoped her point was getting across.

Ray didn't look much more injured than she was. Certainly Aykay had just been lucky, but Ray must be more powerful than she had previously thought...

Frost first aligned Pyra properly, and tied another knot around Aykay and her. Then, through clenched teeth, "Yes, he is." She could barely see at this point.

"We'll go after dropping Pyra off," she said distractedly. Obviously, she couldn't herself, unless there was a way to stop bleeding....

Suddenly tired, Frost sank down on the wall. She looked up at Ray with glazed eyes and tipped her head, to observe him. He was smiling, but even she could tell that it wasn't real. Frost felt a chill run up inside her. If only she could read minds....she closed her eyes for a moment, to observe again.

Ray helped Ice place Pyra, then started in alarm as the former backed against the wall and slid down to the floor, obviously exhausted. "Are you okay? Do you think you'll be able to make it out?" he asked with concern. He thought about offering to carry her, but when he really thought about it, he was probably too weak to make it down even one floor with her. He didn't have anything to make him stronger in that way. The metal glove just amplified force used, so unless he was going to throw her out the window, really not helpful.
"I'm worried about Margot and Wonderboy..." he trailed off. But clearly the priority was the people he was with now. It wouldn't any good explaining his main motive to go up the tower, because it wasn't worth putting their lives in danger for. As much as he wanted to go up... He could do that after they were safe.
If only he hadn't been so selfish and talked to Margot about this, then she could have done it for him, sigh...

Aykay was extremely uncomfortable with Pyra tied to her back. The weight didn't bother her so much as whatever it was Frost had used to tie Pyra to her...

Suddenly Frost was sinking to the floor. Aykay wasn't sure she could carry two people on her back... and Ray wasn't seeming too keen on taking up the task.

Only she and Ray seemed up to doing much at this point, so they had no choice but to go back to the floor where Aizel was. No wonder Loki was still in control after all these years. Who could stop his machines?

She nudged her head under Frost's arm. So long as she remained conscious, she could lean on Aykay for support.

"Lovely. Just lovely." she muttered awkwardly. She hated being so weak! Just the thought of it...

After staying still for a minute, she tried propping herself up. To address Ray's concern, she said quietly, "We'll get to them right after we treat Pyra. Besides, we may need their help to heal her, because I have no idea how. " "Besides," she said with a hint of a smile, "Didn't you want to go up there?" She cursed herself afterwards. She had vowed to not show too much emotion. Emotionless was the easiest way to kill anything. Guilt, happiness-all emotions could be saved for later.

After Aykay nudged her through her arm she unsteadily stood up. She was still bleeding, and feeling worse than ever, but that couldn't be stopped. Leaning heavily on her, she said, " Let's go."

Aykay repressed an intense urge to groom herself. Her fur was extremely matted from the blood and it drove her tiger self crazy. She was both tiger and human, so she had tendencies of both. She had long since learned that a few of the tiger's habits were useful, but she still found grooming repulsive.

She began walking towards the door that lead downstairs where Aizel was, doing her best to both guide Frost and keep Pyra balenced on her back. Ray seemed to have cheered up a little, but there was something different about him that she couldn't place.

Now that they were relatively safe though, she nudged the hand she had felt metal on as she passed Ray. She wanted to know what it was.

Stark's knee-jerk reaction to Sylvia's proposal was a dry mental "Screw that." This girl was a liar and a manipulator, and there wasn't a chance she would risk letting him go just for the sake of intimidating some rebels. However, these people had to be enormously powerful. They muscled their way into Stark Tower, fought off hoards of Chitauri, and even managed to locate the secret prison. Even as Sylvia teleported inside and kicked his weak legs out from under him, he suppressed a tight grin. These people had to be a well-trained army, or a band of superheroes, or--

Or two kids and a stick. Every bit of excitement washed right out of his face, giving way to frustration.

THIS was supposed to be his rescue squad?! He bit his teeth together to keep from going off on them. The first one to come in was a young woman, maybe twenty, who was far too gloomy to be pretty. She had dark skin, fierce eyes, a hard jaw, and hair that looked like it would require a horse brush to comb out. Every exposed inch of her skin was covered either in dirt or scrapes, and as far as he could tell, she was completely unarmed. Behind her was a a younger boy who had apparently not yet seen the light of puberty. He was short, round and panicked-looking. In his thick hands was a two- or three-foot long decorative metal stick, like someone might use to tend a fire. Both of them were wearing clothes that had dried in stiff, starched-looking portions, like they'd been dunked in a lake and then walked through the dirt until they were dry again. He couldn't find a gun or a bow or anything on either of them, and suddenly, Sylvia's offer began to sound reasonable.

Margot spat out a quiet curse, glaring forward into the cell. They were late--Sylvia had already appeared to join him. She was completely within the cell, holding a Chitauri space-gun to Stark's head. The man's legs were skewed in an uncomfortable-looking fashion. Sylvia must have been supporting most of his weight.

Thinking back to her earlier experience with Sylvia, she frowned deeper. There was no guarantee that this Sylvia was even real--she could just be another illusion, put there to scare them from freeing Stark. As far as Margot knew, there was no way to tell the difference.

"Let him go," she demanded, holding her hands up in front of her. There wasn't much beyond that she could think to add.

Sylvia was basically radiating smugness as she sensed Stark's anger, and disbelief when the two mortals showed themselves. She couldn't help but chuckle softly as she spotted the shorter, and very much wider human besides her.

"Let him go."

An eyebrow shot up in surprise at the girl's words. It wasn't the fact that she had wanted Stark free, it was the fact that she DEMANDED it. Almost like Sylvia had no choice but to let the man go. "Oh..?" she said. "And what if I refuse to do so? Will you have...HIM-" At this point, she nodded at the boy, distaste obvious in the way she referred to him. "poke me with his metal stick?" she asked.

The gun opening was pressed to Stark's head, and her trigger finger pushed down slightly, and threateningly. Still fairly amused at the situation as a whole, she said her next words softly, her lips barely moving, as she spoke to Stark.

"You're aware of the consequences of defying those in favor of my father, yes?" she paused, as she smiled. "Would you care to tell these two humans what life is like in prison? With our allies, and the chitauri? The regret you would feel for defying my father?"
