Margot squinted her eyes and scanned each cell carefully, though not one of them yielded a familiar face. She felt that she had seen enough old photos and propaganda fliers to recognize any one of the Avengers should they be there; however, by the end of the final floor, she recognized no one. She let out a sigh and leaned forward, digging her palms into the rounded edge of the computer desk.Although she had not honestly been expecting to find one of them, the hope had sat in her breast the whole time. It seemed an opportunity to cruelly ironic for Loki to pass up, sealing an Avenger within their former base of operation. She couldn't allow herself to get distracted, though. There was still a lot of help they could do.She began searching the floors for large clumps of Chitauri moving together. Those would cause the others the most trouble. She almost didn't notice when she glanced over a room with a single free-standing cell. The room, on second glance, seemed to be well-buried within the building. It was separate from the other prison cells by a few floors. The walls were bare and white, and the metal bars of the cell extended all the way to the ceiling. The room was completely empty, except for the prisoner.-c

The man stood at the end of the cell. He braced himself, nodded once stiffly, and then rushed at the door shoulder-first. The locked door didn't budge, and he fell away in pain. That was when she got a look at his face. The color looked to have been washed right out of him; his once dark hair was greying in streaks, and his skin was pale from confinement. His beard and hair were long, but not enough so to hide the gauntness of his cheeks. Even in these conditions, Margot could recognize a certain light within him. There was a spark of genius and determination that shone through his eyes.Shocked and dazed, she pawed at Aaron's arm. "Aaron," she said, but no words came out. Her lips barely twitched. She struggled to force words up through her throat, and jabbed up at the screen. "Look!" she finally managed to gasp. Even then, her voice sounded far away.@skylark @dada_dragon

Blinking away the red from her vision, Aizel clenched and unclenched her fists, standing stiffly at the edge of the last step. she'd climbed. Habitually, she was pissed. Eyes narrowed, she pursed her lips, chewing on the inside of her cheek in pondering. How nice would it be to knock him out? Or beat him...? Or kill him maybe? Well, knocking him out meant being burdened to carry him around like a potatoe sack and hence his davantage in speed, beating him wasn't an option if it meant having to catch him first... Sooooo, that left the last! Killing 'd be quite easy - a bullet in the bck of the head and all her problems would poof. Ah, how easy was that?Sharply shaking her head, Aizel dug into her pocket, seeking to release some tention before actually pulling out her guns. Right now she needed a clear head as to listen to her morals more clearly. And such morals... She usually didn't have any, until now, that is.'Taking ourselves a bit too seriously are we?' she could almost hear her conscience say. Wasn't a lie though... It wasn't Ray's fault. He was younger, weaker physique wise and seemed less experienced. Despite being a few times more intelligent than Aizel, he was still categorized as a 'kid' in her eyes. So to round it all up - she had her dignity wounded by a kid in a matter of five seconds. Yep...Rummaging through her pockets, she finall pulled out a small packet of hand-made cigarettes, popping one between her lips. She didn't have a lighter at the moment, but just the feeling of the nicotine in her mouth was enough to calm her down.Feeling slightly better now, Aizel spun around and departed to the far edge of the cell hall. Ray had started at the beginning of the cells, so as to cover more ground (and to conveniently avoid him) Aizel started from the other edge. She didn't bother looking for keys. not having a allmighty metallic gauntler was a disadvantage, but she guessed guns worked just as well. She aimed the barrel at the cell's lock, supervising the prisoner to stand away from the door, and sent in a bullet that wrecked the mechanism to pieces.

Aykay walked around. This was the first of the prison levels. The cells on this level really weren't all that horrible... They were obviously fed and had some sort of ripped-up and thin bedding. And the smell was tolerable at least, even to her tiger nose. The upper levels didn't have any of these luxuries...But she supposed the one advantage to have been imprisoned on an upper level was that it was much quieter... These people still called for help and probably believed it would actually come... On the upper levels, no one said a word...She was trying to figure out a way to open the locks when she heard a gunshot nearby. She roared loudly in surprise. There were times when the tiger half of her showed clearly... and loud noises made the big cat nervous. She immediately regretted it. The machines would have heard her... There was no doubt they'd be up here soon...She ran, looking back occasionally to see if they were coming and nearly plowed into Aizel. She turned slightly, missing Aizel, but not slowing down in time to keep from running into one of the prison cells headfirst. She looked up at Ray and Aizel with the closest thing to an apologetic look her tiger face could manage to portray.@asi @jupiter_hollow

@dada_dragon XDLetting out a startled squeak, Aizel flew back, avoiding the crash and stumbled over her two feet. Despite the lack of orientation, her first priority was to aim the gun at whoever had been barreling towards her. It was Aykay."Goshdarnit! I almost shot you!" Aizel exclaimed, more of a realization than a scolding. She stepped forward, tucking the gun to her side safely and looked at the tiger. "Where are the others?" instantly guessing Aykay couldn't answer in her tiger form, she crouched down. "Nod if you know where the others are." it was a more answer-...able question. She glanced up at Ray, half-expecting for him to be gone, but spotted him at the far end of the hall.

Aykay recovered from the shock and transformed back to her human self. She wasn't going to bother with the 'nod for yes' thing..."I dunno." She admitted, "but they should be not far behind. Margot instructed us to start freeing people now that there's a fire going. Also..." she hesitated. "The machine master and her ally are here. I havn't seen them yet, but... you'll just have to trust me that they are here..."She then heard the screeching sounds of the machines approaching. They had definitely heard her roar. She transformed quickly back to her tiger form and made a head gesture to Aizel to keep "unlocking" cages. She saw Ray standing off to the side. She wondered if he could fight...@silver_winged@jupiter_hollow@asi@leafpelt@meixiaotian

Although Alexandria could only assume the amount of time she had spent locked up in the cell, it seemed to her as if she was imprisoned for years. She already memorized every inch of the small filthy container and the faces of those unlucky souls that withered here as well. Even the unpleasant smell didn't bother her at this point. She previously tried escaping but after many unsuccessful attempts it seemed her spirit had been broken. She remained motionless sitting in the back of the cell turned towards the lock, eerily silent but with a cold hateful expression still present on her face. Once the sound of gunshots and the voices of the prisoners reached her ears a spark of curiosity awakened her senses. Her attention was orientated to the source of the noise but her cellmates unabled her to investigate the situation by gathering around the door. Slightly frustrated by this the girl stood up and in a matter of seconds she was making her way trough the bunch in a somewhat rude manner by forcefully pushing people aside. To pardon herself she would occasionally hiss out "excuse me".

Ray listened in on the conversation, but said nothing, instead keeping his head down and focusing on freeing the (generally ungrateful) prisoners. He had no idea what tiger-girl Aykay was on about with machine masters and such, but from her manner it wasn't hard to deduce they weren't anything good. He wondered if he'd be forced to fight anyone... He hoped not. He'd dropped the lightning staff by the exit in order to break cell doors. Ray glanced over at it, the thought just striking him that a prisoner may decide to snatch it up on the way out; but so far it had remained unnoticed. And while he admitted it's convenience, he still didn't like it very much.

@asi @jupiter_hollowAykay roared as the machines rounded the corner. At this point, it didn't really matter who heard her... the machines already knew they were here. There were six of them, which was twice her limit, not to mention more could show up at any minute, unless they were occupied with the fiery chaos below or with Margot and Aaron above...She roared loudly at them, which caused a couple of them to falter a little, but the others rushed right for her. She let the tiger half of herself fight. The tiger was a much better fighter than she was.She slammed into the first of them and knocked him to the ground. She then quickly spun around and got the second one while the first was still on the ground. The others drew their guns and aimed them at her.She ducked behind a support pillar and waited for them to get closer so she could tackle them.

Pyra closely followed Akyay, but didn't respond much to Akyay. This was bad. About it, there was nothing to say about it. Then, they were in the prison levels. Okay. Aizel and Ray were also there. Unlocking the cages. She didn't know exactly how to unlock or destroy the locks, so she glanced back at Akyay. Through the flood of dashing prisoners, many with ugly scars, she could see her, fighting chitauri. She didn't want to do that... sSo she sighed and ran down the empty cells, to the second level, where many more were. Aizel had been shooting the locks, so that was what Pyra decided to do with her lovely weapon. It didn't operate with bullets, so it wouldn't run out. Quickly. She started working on the cells in the back. It was pretty far back, so it took her a moment to run all the way back.

Ray didn't hesitate but flung himself into the fray in exactly the crazy, suicidal manner which Aizel had berated him for earlier. The lightning staff lying forgotten against the wall, he sprung forward to meet the Chitauri a distance which would have put the long jump world record to shame, knocking the closest enemy off it's feet. They tumbled quite a distance, wrestling for a moment, before the Chitauri's chest was crushed beyond repair by a blow from Ray's enhanced left hand- hey, no matter how much padding you have, hitting something hard hurt, always. He'd switched hands. He'd become ambidextrous very quickly in the factories; in fact, he usually favored his right hand now, as this world was so cruel to lefties.A little out of breath from that rush, he stood up and looked around for his next opponent, battle-dazed.

Pyra showed up not much longer after the machines did. She had moved over to the far end of the room and had begun opening cages. Aykay trusted that Pyra and Aizel knew what they were doing. Ray clearly did.Out of the corner of her eye, Aykay watched Ray wrestle briefly with one of the machines. He got up, the machine didn't. Obviously, he had some sort of advantage over the thing, but as busy as she was fighting four others (the fifth remaining machine seemed to have decided that having defeated his comrade, Ray was indeed competition, despite his smaller size) she was unable to see what his apparent superpower was.The tiger panted with the effort of the fight. She was beginning to wear out. She had already fought plenty today, and not even the tiger could last forever. @asi@jupiter_hollow@meixiaotian@bunnyshadow@dada_dragon Frost frowned slightly as she ran after those two. She was out of shape from hiding and not fighting so much, this just weighed down on her. She looked around and automatically took out her weapon, this time in the form of a javelin. Instead of throwing it at them, she speared them while scouting for an exit. Three at a time was most she could take, although she had never tried more, she mused. As Frost's mind wandered, her arms kept moving. It wasn't even a conscious movement. See something that seemed to want to kill you? Kill it before it kills you. It was the rule of the wild. It was the rule of this life. Obviously, she thought sarcastically, brains and attention are really helpful too, especially after she barely missed being hit by chituari bits. She snapped to attention. She thought that everyone was starting to tire out, especially Aykay.

Another Chitauri promptly turned his gun on Ray, but the thing must have been a rubbish shot or seriously panicking, because in the few milliseconds it took Ray to reach it, it didn't score any hit, despite the closeness, before he knocked the gun out of it's hands. However, before he could choke the life out of it, the Chitauri managed to draw a long kind of knife from it's person and slash him across the chest.Ray had to bite down on the inside of his cheek to stop himself from shouting out in pain. It stole his strength momentarily and he let the Chitauri go, it fell to the ground, clutching it's throat. Angrily Ray kicked at it in retaliation, but that only resulted in some seriously stubbed toes. He then managed to calm down and finish off the Chitauri properly, but there was no taking back that cut he'd received (nor his toes, curse his stupidity). It seemed like for now, there were no more Chitauri; he sighed in relief before examining his injury, trying to not make it so obvious in front of the others, he didn't want them to worry. Luckily it seemed not very deep. The shirt he was wearing was the standard issue for slaves (the ones lucky enough to get shirts for the males- but as he had worked in such a variety of factories, he'd been in some of the best), made of coarse fabric chosen for durability and resistance against the dangers of the factories; shirts cost less than new slaves and disposing of incapable ones, and the longer the shirts lasted, the better. Therefore, it had proved surprisingly resistant when the knife sliced across it, the harsh weave being rather snaggy. He ripped some bandages from the bottom of a pant leg (he wasn't going to go around shirtless if he could help it, seriously) and fixed that around his torso (under his shirt) to stem the bleeding. Good. It hardly bothered him now.Ray turned back to the others, feeling, ridiculous though it was, kind of guilty he'd been stupid enough (even if it was just bad luck), to have gotten himself hurt. But things like that really couldn't be helped in battle. He was only human; mortal. In fighting, people died, that was the way of it. Really, he was lucky; though less so than the others, it seemed, as it looked like the rest had come out unscathed, though tired.Meanwhile, he could still feel the adrenaline and battle-frenzy. He decided to release that by taking down the last few cell doors, freeing the remaining prisoners of the level.

Aykay transformed back to her human self. Immediately, she felt the fatigue that the tiger half could more easily ignore. Her hands were shaking from the adrenaline and she stumbled a little before opting to sit down rather than wait to pass out.She felt a sharp pain. A machine had sliced her shoulder. In the distraction of the battle, she hadn't even noticed. She pressed one of her hands to it. It really wasn't that bad...She looked over and saw Ray tying something around his torso."You get hurt at all?" she asked.@asi@jupiter_hollow@leafpelt@meixiaotian@bunnyshadow

((I actually figured - we're all online, why not post? XD))@onyx @dada_dragon @leafpelt @meixiaotian @asiThrough the rush of the battle, Aizel had switched from blowing up locks and freeing prisoners to fighting off the flood of chitauri and vice versa. Guns for blowing up locks and fists for blowing away Chitauri. She was keen on sticking to that tactic, trying to save all her bullets for the cells. Still, with some heavily armoured monsters she resorted to shooting, but salted the ammo away in general. Seemed like most of the Chitauri were taken out anyways.Trudging to the last cell row, she freed three of them in a flash, before being pounced on by Chitauri again. She ducked a heavy metal fist (god forbid that thing coming anywhere near her face...) and she answered with two sharp kicks of her own.She swept the Chitauri's knees from behind, making the buckle and send both chitauri on the ground, one falling over the other. Before the two piles of metal had managed to get up, Aizel was halfway across the hall, already advancing on the last and final cell. She didn't bother looking inside - curiosity was her last priosity at the moment. A blurr of blonde and white passed in front of her eyes, but the prisoner didn't interest her so without further ado, she pressed the barrel to the lock and pulled the trigger. Mechanism shards scattered on the floor as the bullet sharply ripped through the cell's handle, passing milimeters from the blonde prisoner's left leg and embedding itself in the stone floor.Aizel flung the door open, turning to leave just in time to spot the two Chitauri headed her way. She was in no mood to be dealing with the scrap metal junk and now that the last prisoner had been freed, she had the unlimited use of her guns back. Raising one weapon, she pulled the trigger again......and the barrel clicked. No ammo. Aizel cursed, already swinging around to smash the gun's hilt to one's face, denting it. The monster let out a slow mechanised screech and tumbled face first in the dust. At least the guns were useful for something... She finished off the other with a hard boot to the chest, smashing it fully against the ground.

Even after diving trough the crowd and reaching the door of the cell, Alexandria was still very enraged. The primary reason behind this being the manner in which she was now pressed against the bars. The pressure on her seemed to increase as the prisoners hustled forwards, aware that they would be released and now slightly crazed with the idea of freedom. On the positive side, the blonde was able to observe the situations. The whole scenario remained somewhat unclear to her but the ongoing action triggered an urge to act and release her abilities. If only she wasn't restrained like this, she would make her power clear to both the Chitauri and these incompetents which were cracking under their attack. Impatient to be let out and into the chaos, Alexandria barely held back a frustrated yell directed at a black haired girl who progressed towards the cell. Still, before she had an opportunity to unleash her rage the bothersome lock was already shattered and a bullet dashed dangerously close by her. Perhaps the girl wasn't truly as slow as she seemed to Alexandria. The blond was a bit dazed by what had just occurred and the same could be said for the rest of the prisoners as none of them dared to approach the exit. Instead most stepped back as a short battle went on between a pair of Chitauri and the dark girl. The brawl was brief and as soon as it came to an end a heap of people continued to flee mindlessly into the hallway. Only Alexandria was left, now finally brought to a serious battle ready state after the series of events.

"There's some-" she stopped as she remembered that Margot had the backpack, which had the antiseptic and supplies. She cursed. The machines must have put the fires out somehow..."I think our fire was put out, but there are definitely less machines coming up these stairs than before." she continued. "Have you found anything worthwhile up there?"-Don't forget that SHE'S still out there.- said the voice, once again breaking its long silence.Aykay felt a pang of fear. Yes, there was that. She didn't know what they would do when they came to that point. Some hopeful part of herself was hoping that SHE would just leave, but that was ridiculous... @dada_dragon @skylark @bunnyshadow @jupiter_hollow @asiA buzz of noise from her transmitter shocked Margot out of her daze. She quickly activated the microphone on her own."Things are serious. Aaron and I found our way into a surveillance room; we can see the whole building from here. I think I found Stark on the 49th floor, and I'm about to head down there and bust him out." Although her voice was steady, her hands were still quivering. She clenched her fists and stared straight ahead at the screen. Stark was still crumpled on the floor, clutching his arm in pain. It seemed this wasn't the first time he had tried to muscle his way out."Once you're done freeing the prisoners," she continued, "I want you to get out of here as quickly as possible. The main entrance has been shut down, but you should be able to blast through an emergency exit on the ground floor. If we get Stark out, we'll have too many people to scale the walls, so we'll be right behind you. Move fast."She flipped off her microphone and motioned for Aaron to follow her. With quick steps she bounded up toward the gap they had fallen from, climbed the ladder bolted to the wall, and shuffled through the secret passage. With a soft grunt she flung the trapdoor up to Stark's apartment open, and climbed out. Her clothes were littered with cobwebs. Hastily, she picked up her fireplace poker.

She mouthed 'Stark is alive' and turned back to the transmitter."Understood, Margot..." she said, struggling to get the words out. "We... We'll do that..."Stark was alive...-Bittersweet, isn't it.- said the voice. -He was your hero, wasn't he? But he didn't save you like you'd always hoped, did he?-She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. They had to get moving again..."Okay, Frost. Margot's gonna get Stark, we need to keep freeing people, then escape out the emergency exit on the main floor... Margot and Aaron will meet us somewhere along the way..." she hesitated before continuing. "Unless I get any messages from Margot, I won't be giving any orders anymore. I... However, the elevator would be faster, and she couldn't sacrifice practicality."Yes," she replied tersely. "Tony Stark." The microphone wasn't on. @skylarkMargot glanced at Aaron only when the doors of the elevator were shut. He was showing her a dazed half-smile, but she couldn't tell what to make of it. Before glancing away, she noticed that he hadn't bothered to pick up any kind of weapon. She glanced down at her own fireplace poker and wrung the cold metal between her hands. She would have preferred to keep it, but it would be stupid to let Aaron follow her unarmed."Take this," she said flatly, forcing the dark metal rod into his hands. "Just in case anything happens."The elevator continued to rush downward. Each floor they passed showed on a little electronic screen in red letters: 88, 87, 86 . . . it would still be a while. Margot let her eyes wander to the ceiling, then to the floor, then back to the number panel."Tony Stark," she thought wondrously. The thought crept up on her out of the silence. The revolutionaries had sung his name; a boy she knew once had a glowing arc reactor tattooed on the middle of his chest. Margot could only hope that he was a man of his word. One day long ago, or so the stories went, he had sworn that should he not be able to protect the earth, he would surely avenge it. She needed that Tony Stark, now more than ever. She could only hope that that Stark was still alive.
