"Moving right to left," Noah replied, following the disturbance in the grass with his pointer finger. "Looks like he spooked her. Hey, Joule! Come here."

The electrike skidded to a stop, tearing a few clumps of grass from the ground in the process. Uneasily she bounded back over to her trainer and trotted right alongside him, leaving barely an inch between herself and her trainer's left foot.

"Good girl," he commented, flashing her an easy half-smile. "It's okay."

By then, Littleroot had come into view again. Noah sprinted forward, lifted his bike from the wall of the Pokemon center, and pedaled back to Wren. It was a snazzy Mach bike from the Mauville bicycle shop, with a highlighter green frame and black and white wheels. The entire bottom half was spattered with dirt and mud, both from this morning and earlier trips. The bicycle was several years old, and he had been getting as much use out of it as possible.

"And back we go," he announced, dismounting the bicycle so that Wren could keep up with him.

@silver_winged Thanks! And I can't think of anything I need explained at the moment but thank you for the offer. ^^

Miles was returning from his morning fishing excursion on Route 103. He passed through Oldale Town into route 102, when suddenly he sew a flash of light which brought back a memory of the fist time he saw a Pokemon evolve.

Once when Miles was four or five he had gone out with his father to observe one of his many battles. It was pouring and the ground was mucky. "Perfect wether for a Pokemon battle, Eh, Ivan? " his dad said.

"Let's just get this over with, Fysher" the other fisherman replied. Then they both sent their Pokemon out and the battle started. It was intense, Magikarp against Magikarp until finally Ivan was down to his last...

There they stood, both of them soaked to the bone, watching, waiting for the other to shout their orders. Then... Fysher broke the silence and yelled. "TACKLLLLLLLLLLE!"

Ivan said the same and both fish went flying toward each other, making the sickening slap of one carp colliding with another.
It was finished, Fysher had won, that's when-

Miles snapped out of his recollection and stared at the trainer and his Pokemon before him. "Oh, hey." Miles said with a slight wave of his hand.

Wren spun to watch the electrike nearly cling to her trainer's foot, clearly afraid of his Abra. At Noah's words, he turned pink out of embarassment.
"Souke!" he yelled out to the psychic pokemon and in a matter of seconds, the Abra solidified in front of him. He flashed it a stern glare, crossing arms in front of his chest, showing more disappointment than actual anger. He knew from experience one would be more ashamed from disappointing someone than from infuriating him.

And the Abra really was standing there, head hung low and hands, fiddling together flusteredly. It looked at the retreating Elecrike and Coordinator apologetically, knowing Joule couldn't see him and folded his ears to his head in shame. Crouching next to Souke, Wren placed a hand on the pokemon's head, gentle as possible as to not startle him and smiled warmly.
"Go apologize." he quietly offered to the pokemon and watched as Souke's ears flicked up again happily.

The pokemon trottled ahead and when the two came back, he stood in front of Joule, still visibly unsure on what to do. His head still hung low and he watched her from afar.

Sirius nodded, "Then do that with the Pokemon you use in shows. Pretend you're just training water-types for a show at the aquarium. That also works for more then just water-types, many different types would do the same." He said, his voice slow so that he could be sure she understood. Sometimes he talked so quickly that people couldn't tell what he was saying.

"Um... Hey." Cody replied. Jason turned around to see a Fisherman, waving in their direction. He fidgeted slightly, uncomfortable with his current appearance.

"The name's Cody, I'm a Pokemon trainer. I basically just started, though." Cody said. He paused for a few moments. "So uh, fish up anything good lately?" He asked, seeing another fisherman land a Goldeen from the lake nearby.

"Oh, right, where are my manners! The name's Miles. And to answer your question, no, I haven't had any luck catching anything lately..." His vioce trailed off. "I saw your Pokemon evolve, that's pretty sweet, what's her name?" He continued. "So I was just on my way to check on some Oran berries I planted a while back, you can along if you'd like."

"Oh, his name is Jason." Cody emphasized the word "his" as he spoke, while trying not to over emphasize it, "and sure, I'll come with you I guess. Though I was planning to stop at the Pokemon center in Oldale Town, and maybe pick up some supplies while I'm at it."

Jason looked around, scanning the area for Miles' Oran Berry plants. When he spotted them in the distance and confirmed their existence, he turned back to his trainer.

"Ohh I see... He looks cool," Miles said uncomfortably, "sooo... alrighty then, uhh, the berries are right up this way." He waved in the direction of a small ledge and then proceeded to climb.

Once they were up, Miles noticed the saggy stature of his sad looking Oran Berry plants, which grew only two on their withering branches. "Well," he said sheepishly, "I've been pretty busy fishing lately, so I didn't really water them that much... Aaactually, I haven't watered them at all." He admitted, scratching the back of his head.

"Here, you can have half the crop," he said as he handed Cody two of the surprisingly delicious looking berries, "though it's not much."

Kiara nodded. "Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have other types..." she admitted, checking her watch. "I wonder if Noah will be much longer..."

Sirius nodded, "Yeah, it'd help in the competition battles to have a variety of Pokemon." He said, shrugging slightly. He nodded as Kiara mentioned Noah, his fingers once again tapping against his side. "Me too, he's been gone for quite a while," he commented.

"You would think he'd be faster coming back on his bike... maybe we could meet him halfway or something. We could train a little too in the tall grass." She suggested.

Sirius nodded, "I guess." He said and he then took the lead back the way that Noah had taken to get his bike. He felt Cinder walking right by his leg as he walked and he smiled as he furry body sometimes rubbed against her leg as she trotted beside him.

Kiara picked up Berry and put her on her shoulder. She followed close behind.

"So what kinda pokemon are around here?"

Sirius thought for a moment, "I think that a lot of Wurmples, Poochyenas, and Zigzagoons live around these parts." He said with a shrug, as he named the Pokemon he was pretty sure lived on that route.

Kiara nodded thoughtfully. "Alright. Something easy to start with."

Berry was chirping happily up on her shoulder. Kiara was happy to have a pokemon with some personality. The magikarp was okay and all, but it didn't react... to anything really...

Sirius nodded and said, "Yeah, that's a good thing." He then tilted his head and asked, "Hey, I've been wondering this for awhile: Your Magicarp, when it was in the aquarium what did it do?" He asked curiously, he knew that she had mentioned that she had gotten the Pokemon from the aquarium when it had been closed down.

She smiled. "Just about the only thing any magikarp can do: splash." She opened up her bag and pulled out a pair of pink gloves, and put them on. "The bright colour is easier for them to see." she explained.

She pulled out the magikarp's pokeball and pushed the button. The magikarp appeared and immediately began flopping around.

"This is mostly just a fun little trick for younger kids." she admitted. She raised her hand in the air. "Up."

The magikarp immediately jumped upwards and touched its nose to her glove. It then went back to flopping around.

"Want to see something really impressive?" she asked. "For a magikarp anyhow."

Sirius watched and he nodded, "Cool, well for a Magicarp. I mean at least it can do something," he said grinning slightly. He nodded as she mentioned another trick, "Sure." He said, watching closely.

Kiara smiled and climbed up a nearby tree as high as she could go. She whistled to get the magikarp's attention and grabbed the trunk with one arm and touched the other to the opposite shoulder from the one Berry still clung to, apparently overjoyed at this trick and excited to see more.

The magikarp flopped over to the base of the tree and took a few starting jumps before leaping up and balancing itself on her shoulder for a few seconds before jumping back down.

Kiara climbed back down.

"They're awful for battling, but they're great jumpers." she said, feeding him a pokeblock and putting him back into his pokeball.

Sirius nodded, "I can tell, if you can teach a Magicarp to do that then I'm sure you can teach other Pokemon to do tricks for competitions." He said, he then pulled out a small notebook and wrote a few things in it before he placed it back in his bag. He then looked at Kiara, let's head off towards Route 1 and see if we can meet Noah there, as you suggested."

Cinder noticed that Sirius was about to start walking towards Route 1 and without warning she shot ahead, heading back towards Route 1 before Sirius could stop her. "Not again," he said, "I hope she doesn't get to far."

Ashley walked slowly to Route 101, keeping an eye on her new Pokeball. "Hmm, maybe I should meet my Trapinch, before I go to Route 101." She then threw the Pokeball outwards a bit and the Pokeball opened, and a Trapinch appeared. "Hello, my name is Ashley, and your my first Pokemon." She said kindly, bending down to say hello to the Pokemon.

Kiara giggled.

"Well at least she's healthy." she said, encouragingly. "Young pokemon are naturally energetic."

At this, Berry jumped off her shoulder and bounced off after Cinder, as if to prove her point.

"I suppose we should get going..."

Joule came to an abrupt stop as Souke stepped in front of her. She tensed her legs and stood low to the ground, baring her fangs just slightly. The fur on the back of her neck drifted upward slightly, propelled by static electricity.

"Easy," Noah urged, reaching down to pat her head. The moment his fingers touched her fur an electric spark leaped into his hand, crackling loudly. He yelped and jumped back, smashing right into Wren and taking both of them to the floor. His hand still buzzed numbly.

The Electrike, ignoring her trainer in the face of perceived danger, examined the Abra closely. After a moment, she dared to lift her left paw and brush it against the Abra's clawed hand--only making contact with the soft pad of her paw so as not to shock him. The Pokemon was solid after all, she realized, and snuffled softly. She stared a moment longer before shambling guiltily over to her trainer.

"That's it," Noah muttered to himself. "I'm buying a pair of gloves when we get to Oldale." He peeled himself off the grass with a grunt using only his non-electrified arm.

@silver_winged Yeah, I keep thinking Route 1 because that's in the Pokemon game I've been playing recently. XD
@dada_dragon

Sirius shrugged, "I guess, but I wish she could sit still for one minute." He said, chucking, "Yeah let's follow them before they get to far ahead. He then took of running, hoping that Cinder hadn't gotten to far away from them. He saw her six brownish-red tail flaring out behind her as she ran in front if him, she wasn't even a mere 6 meters in front of him. "Cinder!" He called and she quickly slid to a halt, looking back curiously at her trainer.

@hedwig68 Vulpix have six tails 😊
@silver_winged

Berry hopped joyfully around, poking at some flowers with her nose. She sneezed after sniffing a red one, then returned to hopping on ahead of the group.

"Berry, come on." Kiara called after her.

Berry looked back inquisitively, then decided she would rather stick around. She jumped back up on Kiara's shoulder and began chirping happily in her ear.

"I wonder if Noah is having this much trouble." she said.

Sirius walked slowly forward and picked Cinder up so that she was resting in his arms. "Stay closer to us, we don't want you to get lost." He said, stroking the top of her head and she nudged his hand affectionately. "Vull!" She said and she sat comfortabley in his arms.

Sirius raised an eyebrow, "Are you comfortable?" He said, chuckling. He glanced back at Kiara, "Me too, he's probably heading back now, but what could have held him up so long, the lab isn't that far away."

"Oh, you didn't have to, but thanks." Cody put the berries in his bag. "You know, I'm not a great gardener either. My berry plants never grew, and I actually did water them." Cody chuckled a bit.

"Hey, do you know, and I know this is random, about the Pokemon Eevee? I've read about them in books. They're from Kanto Region, and I've always wanted one. I hear they can evolve into a variety of different type Pokemon!"

Kiara nodded in agreement, then stopped suddenly.

"Did you hear that?" She asked, straining her ears. She heard it again... the grass was rustling...

The noise came closer and closer until a little poocheyena popped out of the tall grass, growling at them. Kiara yelped in surprise. "What do I do?" She asked, once again embarassed at how little she knew about battle.

Sirius, also surprised about how suddenly the Poochyena had appeared, turned to Kiara. "Send out one of your Pokemon," he said calmly, not caring that he had to help her with the battle.

Cinder looked nonchalantly from her place in Sirius's arms. When she spotted the Poochyena she cocked her head, "Vul?" She yipped, wondering why the wild Pokemon was growling at them. She then looked at Kiara and waited to see what she'd do.

Kiara looked up at Berry.

"How do you feel about fighting this guy?" she asked. Berry quickly jumped down and faced the poochyena.

"Bubble." she told her, and the horsea shot a stream of bubbles at the poochyena. The poocheyena fell back in shock, but quickly recovered with a tackle.

"Smokescreen." she said and horsea spat out a black cloud, blocking the poochyena from view. "Bubble."

Now, the poochyena had no idea where the attacks were coming from and it couldn't land a hit. It wasn't long before it was worn down. He was much easier to fight than Joule was...

"Now what?" she asked Sirius. "How do I catch him?"
