Pokemon Roleplay: New Trainers

"Come on back here, then," the professor beckoned. "All of you, let's go." He wove back and forth through machines and stacks of papers before stopping at a large computer at the back of the office. He rapped several times at the spacebar to wake it up.

BIRCH RESEARCH STORAGE, the account read. He tapped in a password and opened up the account. A plethora of Pokemon were visible, organized by local Pokedex number.

"So you there," he said, turning to Sirius again. "Any special requests, or you just want to look through? Certain type or anything?"

Sirius's eyes widened as he saw all the different types of Pokemon. "Can you show me all the fire types that I can chose from?" He asked Professor Birch softly, he had never seen so many different types of Pokemon. He knew that since he was little that he wanted to be a fire-type breeder and now he was going to get his chance too.

"Sure thing, kid," Birch replied. He accessed settings and set the filter to fire type, first stage. In a flash, the PC displayed solely fire-type Pokemon, listed by species. "Take your pick," he instructed, stepping slightly to the side so that Sirius could see better. At the top of the list was a numel, followed by a slugma, a torkoal, and then a vulpix. The rest of the box was empty.

"As far as the regions go, Hoenn has a lot of ocean . . . I'm sorry that there aren't more fire types. If you were willing to wait a few weeks, I could make a call to one of the other professors and request a transfer."

Sirius inspected the Pokemon closely. He shook his head, "These choices are just fine, I don't want you to go to any trouble." He said and his eyes stayed on the last Pokemon in the box, the Vulpix. "I'd like that one, sir," he said pointing to the tiny version of the Vulpix.

"Vulpix it is," he murmured, selecting it and accessing a withdrawal. He had to enter a password again, but in a matter of seconds, a small red Pokeball rolled down from the machine attached to the PC. It stopped in the dip at the end of the chute, glinting light off its shiny domed edge.

"I have to ask you not to release it yet--please wait until you get outside. Fire types are known to be a little temperamental." He grinned broadly, scooped up the Pokeball, and pressed it into Sirius' chest. "Now, go see one of my assistants over there and they'll get your license for you." He pointed toward another computer where a man in a lab coat stood. "Who's next?"

Noah scooted up to the front of the crowd. "What kind of electric types do you have?" he asked hastily, before anybody could get another word in.

"Let's look," Birch said merrily, adjusting the filter. This box was a small one as well. The only Pokemon in it were electrike, plusle, minun, magnemite, voltorb, pichu, and chinchou. Noah's eyes lit up at the first one. Most of Hoenn's electric types were round and cutesy. This one was lithe and fanged, with dramatic fur and sleek edges. It was PERFECT. "That one," he said, gesturing to the screen. In a few moments, his very own Pokemon was rolling down the chute in a red and white Pokeball.

"Next?" Birch asked.

Sirius smiled down at the Pokeball, imagining the Pokemon that was inside. He nodded at the Professor, "Thank you, sir," he said and then he quickly headed off to where one of the Professor's assistants stood, "Hello, Professor Birch sent me to find one of his assistants, would you by some chance be one? He told me that I could get a license from you." He said quickly, the Pokeball still clutched tightly in his hand, almost as if he were afraid that it'd disappear if he didn't hold it tight.

"You can. I'm just going to need your name," he replied, fingers poised over the keyboard. The man was tall and well-built, another outdoorsy type. Birch's lab seemed to be full of them.

Sylvia stepped in after Noah. "I'll go." she said to no one in particular. "Do you have any poison type pokemon with you right now? Perhaps even a Koffing?" Sylvia had always thought that koffing and weezing were adorable pokemon, for some particularly unknown reason.

"Koffing," Birch repeated to himself, searching for the Pokemon directly. It appeared on the screen, a little round blob of purple pixels. "Yep, we've got a Koffing for you!" He called that one out as well, and its Pokeball rolled out. "Here you go." He said brightly. He seemed to enjoy giving the young trainers their Pokemon. "Next?"

"I'm Sirius Hunter," Sirius told the man quickly. He sounded rather excited about everything tht was happening. You sound like an idiot! he scolded himself and he took a deep breay\th, trying to gain a calm and cool composure. He didn't want to sound like a little kid, especially around these people.

Birch let out a short laugh at Sylvia's dazzled expression. If only she could see herself. "Go on over there to my assistant and we'll get you your license. Oh, and wait until you're outside to let that Pokemon out. I like this lab smelling decent."

"That's H as in happiny, U as in umbreon, N as in nidoran, T as in taillow, E as in exeggcute, R as in rhyhorn?" He typed the name even as he recited the letters, staring at Sirius' face all the while. "Ah, here you are. Hunter, Sirius. Faces match up . . . is all this information accurate?" He summoned Sirius in front of the screen so he could review the information. It listed common information like his birthdate.

Ashley woke up in her blue bed and stared at the alarm clock. "Oh great, I forgot to set my alarm clock." She said grunting as she got up. "I'll be late to get my starter Pokemon." She then quickly got dressed, wearing her casual clothes she wore on everyday. She then dashed like a speeding car to Birch's Lab. She then waited for her turn in the lab. "Oh great, I hope i'm not late to get my Pokemon!" She said to herself.

Sirius checked over the information very carefully. "Yeah everything seems to be right," he said with a nod of approval. He then waited to see if the assistant would ask him any other question. His toes was slightly tapping, showing how excited he was.

Is the part about the magikarp okay? It will not evolve for a LONG time (as in I'll wait until most of the other trainers in the rp have strong pokemon) I don't want to use it as an advantage over everyone else. I just really love the idea of dragging around a useless magikarp.

"Great," the assistant replied, nodding once. After a few more keyboard clicks, the large printing machine next to him whirred to life. It took a few moments for the card to print and laminate, but soon the assistant presented Sirius with his very own trainer card.

"If you need to update any information," he added, "you can call the lab." Then he motioned for Sylvia to step forward.

Kiara grumbled to herself as she checked the map again. Littleroot... it had to be just over the hill...

Then again, she'd said that a few times already... But to her relief, she was right this time. There was Littleroot in all its minuscule glory...

"Come on, you." she growled, holding the struggling Magikarp tighter. Since she lacked a licence, she couldn't buy pokeballs, which meant the slimy thing had to be carried all the way there...

She opened the door and looked around. She had been to the lab in Pallet once with her cousin when she'd lived in Cerulean City, and this was pretty similar to what she remembered.

She saw some other trainers being helped out with their licences, so she wandered over that way.

Huffing and puffing his way across the crossroad Paxton finally reaches the lab to only find himself in an empty lab. As much as he hated being alone for to long he patiently waited at the front desk until he couldn't take it anymore. And yelled at the top of his lungs "WHERE IS EVERYONE?!"

Only to hear in response his own echo. He thought to himself. "Am I really alone?.. again."
