Edit: The one time in my life complaining seems to have had a positive effect 😋

@mairbear I can only imagine! I've only ever seen one egg in the Thief Shop, it was my second or third day on here, and it was like, 80,000-something ec (which to me was like, WOW, THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY!) But I haven't seen any since then. And I only just the other day finally saw a creature at the Oasis (a Chimera) and I almost managed to nab it, just didn't manage to name it quite fast enough!

You causally walk into the Thief Shop. You don't expect to see anything, but it wouldn't hurt to try. This time, however, you are greeted by the sight of a lone egg on the counter, guarded by the shopkeeper. Your excitement causes you to only know the price range was in the 400,000s.

Frantically shoving your hands into your pockets, you realized you don't have enough money to match the price! Racing home, you grab a wad of cash and sprint back to the shop praying that the egg is still there. You dash up to the counter and slam the money down, but keep your hand on it.

All of a sudden, doubts are popping up in your mind. What if it's fake? Someone would come and claim it soon though...

Taking your hand off, the shopkeeper takes the money and places the egg in front of you. It sits there for a moment, but then starts to shake and hatch. The shell cracks open to reveal a small creature that squeals with hunger. A big smile spreads across your face as you gently pick it up.

Thanking the shopkeeper, you head out with your new creature. Perhaps you'll come next time while your luck lasts, but you will always have doubts about the place.

This is my first time doing one of these so sorry if this isn't how it's supposed to be! Most of it is accurate, for example having to go get more money, almost not buying it, and not looking at the exact price. Other parts I had to fill in, like what happened when I purchased it. I just saw it said successful and was too excited to see what creature it was to read what happened, which I really regret. I wish there was a log that recorded it, but really it's my own fault for not taking the time to read it and being impatient. Oh well. At least next time I know! 😉

Thank you! I love writing stories in general and I've really wanted to write one for the Thief Shop, whether the egg was successful or not. When there was an egg in the shop AND I had enough money, my adrenaline decided to do a marathon while my brain programmed itself to drop any other priorities and replaced them with making sure I purchase the egg! 😋

Of course, when it came to the second I actually had to buy it, thoughts of doubt started to hit. Mainly the fact that I've been saving my EC to be able to trade it for CC so I was hesitant on spending the amount, especially since it doesn't always guarantee a successful hatch.

But I figured that I probably wouldn't be able to have another opportunity like this, so why not? Plus if it went well I had a new creature and an excuse to write a story. If not I could still write the story and at least be part of the group of people that have purchased from the Thief Shop. By the time I finally got up the courage to pay, I was worried that someone else had bought it! So overall, I'm glad I went for it because I would have regretted it more to keep the money but lose the opportunity of a new creature that I don't know if I'd ever get again, opposed to losing the money that I know I'll be able to regain and getting a new creature. 😊

Yep, she is! Thank you! It totally made my day and I love the idea of not only knowing if the shopkeeper (Does the shopkeeper have a name or gender?) will scam you or if you'll actually get an egg, but also the excitement of finding out which species you got!

Speaking of the shopkeeper, and this is to just anyone in general now because at this point I'm just rambling, they just fascinate me. That probably sounds weird, but I'm serious. There is so much mystery around them and I can't help but think about what their backstory, personality, and just their everyday life is like. And this goes for all the inhabitants on Ark. I would love to know more about all of them. Gosh, I have so many questions all of a sudden! XD
