Kita sat alone in the interview room. The officer had left briefly. He had asked her some preliminary questions... Her name... Her relationship with Vladan (that had taken a while to explain)... what had happened...

From what she had gathered, they were keeping Vladan in a holding cell, and the officer was going to get his statement. On the one hand, there was video evidence of what had transpired... on the other, Vladan was a persuasive little snake.

It could go either way... Either he would be arrested, or she would. It was really a toss-up...

"It wasn't me." Vladan directed his statement towards the officer standing guard outside his cell. "Did you hear me?" He said in irritation. "I said it wasn't me, so I don't understand why you idiots are keeping me confined in this cell." Vladan could feel a headache coming along, and anger mutilated his thought process once again. This time however, he kept it in check. It was no time to throw a temper tantrum, especially since he was in such a precarious situation.

"Come on." Vladan said after a few deep breaths. He closed his eyes and counted to 10 in his mind. "Do you really think I would do something like this of my own accord?" The man asked rhetorically. "I have an entire empire under my rule. My corporation makes me millions a year..." He trailed off when he got no reply from the stoic guard.

"Where is my lawyer? This place is absolutely disgusting. The second she gets here, I'll be free--I hope you realize that."

"Ok.." Skyler says as Kita leaves. "I should've given her the money." she muttered. She turned towards Vladan's house and began jogging to it.

She twists the doorknob and opens the door. She looks for a light switch and switches it on. "Hello?" she said and Odilia came padding up to her. "H-hey girl. I'm just here to feed you, I mean no harm." she reached out to pet her. "Where is your food?"

Odilia led her to the food and she gave her some and water. "Now, where are the dogs?" she asked and they came running up. She looked for dog food and gave them some. "I should stay here until they come back.." she says clutching her suitcase and falling asleep on the coach with Odilia below her on the floor.

An officer arrived, bringing her some coffee. She drank gratefully.

"So you were living with Mr. Vietkov, but you are not in a relationship?" He asked.

"Yes." She said. " I'm his violin instructor."

It wasn't a lie, but a more accurate description would be 'kidnapping victim'. Why was she lying for him?

"So you taught him violin... How long have you been living there?"

Including the two days I was kidnapped by Russell?

"Two and a half weeks now, I think." She said. Had it really been that long?

"Are you aware of any other criminal activities Mr. Vietkov may have been involved in?"

Kidnapping... Corruption... Theft... Murder... Assault...

"Maybe... He did have some large suitcases of money one day..."

"Thank you. I will be back shortly."

"You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law."

Vladan rolled his eyes as he cracked his knuckles obnoxiously. He scoffed. "I've heard that before." The officer across from him remained stoic throughout their short exchange, though the man did seem to have reached his wit's end with Vladan.

"What is your relationship with Mrs. Altobelli?"

He chuckled as he leaned back in his chair, though his gaze did catch the officer's mid sentence. Vladan remained emotionless at the officer's questions, though he did smirk lightly.

"She's my violin instructor." Vladan stated clearly. He wasn't sure if it was a coincidence, or just pure luck that he was being interviewed by the same man that had questioned Kita... And with his mind reading abilities, this interrogation would go through without a single issue.

"How long has she been living with you?"

"More or less, two and a half weeks." He answered without hesitation. "And before you ask... Officer Huygens. We have no relationship whatsoever." Vladan grinned at the officer's hesitation and confusion on how he knew his name. It took the other man a second to clear his throat, before the interview continued.

"She claims to have seen you with several suitcases of money one night at your home."

Vladan smiled, shaking his head arrogantly when he spoke next. "That money is scrap change, Huygens. I'm a businessman, an entrepreneur. I play with stocks, money comes and goes under the wish of the economy." The officer's patience was wearing thin and Vladan didn't need to read his mind to be able to tell Huygens was ready to quit it, but the other man continued his questioning.

"Where did you get your gun?"

"I am 19 years old, Officer. The law in this state allows anyone by the age of 18 to register for a gun. You should be familiar with these rules."

"I assume it would be alright for me to send some officers to your home to look for your gun's papers, then?"

Vladan grit his teeth. There was no way he could allow that. Russel and Puppet... He sat forwards stressfully, and the man could tell the officer knew that he had hit a weak spot. Vladan thought carefully, before speaking next. "I look forward to seeing your search warrant then."

Kita sat back in her chair. She was uncomfortable around police stations. It wasn't as if she had done something criminal- not since she left her gang- but old habits die hard...

She'd been here a couple of times as a youth... Once for vandalism, once for running away from home. By the time she'd turned fourteen, she was pretty good at not getting caught. Her ability to sense the presence of other people helped...

She wondered if they would actually be able to convict Vladan... He had plenty of money, and that would be fairly convincing in a court of law.

She wished she could say the city officials weren't that corrupt, but she'd lived long enough on the streets to know that wasn't true...

The officer glowered at him, but Vladan remained ignorant to Huygen's threatening form. "You pulling out your gun in public and beating two security guards into unconsciousness is a good enough reason as any for us to get a search warrant."

Vladan grinned at this statement, and he leaned forwards with a smirk. "But officer..." He said in mock innocence. "I was under the influence of several shots of hard alcohol. I'm afraid my brain was not in the proper mindset to be able to control my actions. If I'm not wrong, which I'm sure I'm not, I can confirm that you cannot search my home under any circumstances because my actions were under the influence of alcohol--and nothing I had done while drunk was under my control."

Huygens clenched his fist tightly. Vladan was correct. Even though intoxication wasn't an excuse for criminal conduct, it did deprive him of the mental capacity formed from the intent required by law to be convicted of his crime. "You had the general intent of breaking the law when you pulled out and fired your gun."

"What are you charging me for, Officer? No one died. No one got hurt."

"The two security guards got hurt."

"A few days in the hospital and they'll be fine. I'm sure I didn't break anything. I'll even pay for their bills and maybe more, which I'm sure they would love..." Vladan trailed off as he raised his brow. "If they don't press charges against me, you have nothing."

"We have to release him."

Kita leaned forward. "What?"

The officer ran his hand through his hair. "He's a businessman. He knows his way around the law. We can charge him if the officers press charges, but we can't arrest him."

She looked away. Vladan was unstable before, but after this... He would be downright dangerous...

"Unless you know something that could help us."

She looked up. He was asking her to...

"Look... I know how it is... You might be scared to say anything, but if he did anything... We need to know."

Vladan would be furious... If he wasn't convicted, he would come after her... If she said nothing... Russell and Puppet were in his house... It was all she had to say...

"If you need a moment..."

"No." She said. "I don't need a moment..."

I can't allow him to get away...

She felt her chest tighten. Why was this so difficult? He was a criminal. He was dangerous. He was a ticking time bomb...

"I'll tell you what you'll find in that mansion..." She said, looking down. Why was this so hard? "I'll help you get a warrant."

"Thank you for your time!" Vladan said in the most in-your-face tone he could manage. He tossed his car keys up in the air before catching it back with a jingle in the palm of his hands. The man waved at the retreading police car as he admired the view of the destroyed restaurant. Vladan ventured over to his car. He was glad that the police hadn't bothered to bring his vehicle to the station, else they would find the blood stained seats and the leftover bills littering the back.

He started the car, but took a moment to close his eyes and think through his situation. "There's no way Kita would rat me out..." Vladan muttered, yet the nagging sensation in the back of his mind said otherwise.

She told him about the money... Who's to say she won't tell the police about anything else?

His knuckles turned white from his tightly he clenched the wheel. In that moment, he wanted to hate her with all his heart but yet... Vladan couldn't bring himself to do it.

"She doesn't care about you." He whispered nonchalantly, but the words hurt nonetheless.

But if she didn't, why would she save your life twice?

The man started his car, forcing his thoughts aside. However, his words had only begun their ongoing assault as they clouded his mind during the long drive back home.

"I don't care about her either, but I've saved her once."

Do you? Do you really not care?

Vladan shoved aside his thoughts once again, letting the roar of his engine invade his brain.

Kita sat in the lounge of the station, a cup of coffee getting colder as it sat idle in her hands. They had already released Vladan by the time she had finished recounting her story to the officer...

Nearly everything, minus a few details... The involvement of Dawn and the others... Willow's involvement... Vladan and herself being enabled...

She thought it might be easier, getting it all out, but she felt like she'd betrayed him... But why?

Vladan allowed the dogs to lead him down the corridor, but it didn't take a genius to know where his pets had tried burying the bodies. Puppet and Russel were barely discernible through the many cuts and wounds given to them as they were pulled down the hall by his German Shepards, but the bodies were stil there.

"Odilia?" He called out heavily as the lion came padding down the hall. The man motioned towards the ground, at the two mauled men, but the lion stared at him in confusion.

"Eat." Vladan said impatiently as he pointed at Russel. The lion sniffed at the body, but made no move to consume it. "Consume." He said, louder this time. Odilia wavered, before opening her maw and chewing on an arm.

"It's been a long time since you've been a man-eater." Vladan muttered. "But you better get started now, the cops are gonna show up eventually."

He led Odilia into an empty room, pushing Russel and Puppet's torn bodies after the lioness. Vladan hesitated, before shutting the door. The man hoped the lion would hunger enough to eat it's new meal, and he hoped it would be soon.

"Go out." He commanded to the two dogs. They skittered down the hall as Vladan headed into the kitchen. He was never one for manual labor, but now was as good a time as any to start cleaning up.

Skyler woke up startled as she heard Vladan open the door. She jumped up quietly and shimmered invisible knowing that she would be questioned about why she was there. Oh geez.. I can't let him know I'm here or I will be killed! she thought nervously.

"Thank you very much, officer."

One of the officers had brought her back to her place. She climbed out of the car, thankful for the fresh air.

"Don't hesitate to call us if you need us." The officer said. They had sent a female officer... Probably to make her feel more at ease. She didn't care too much, but she appreciated the gesture. "We'll come and check on you in the morning."

She nodded, and walked back up to her apartment. She collapsed on her bed, mentally and physically drained. Who knew what would happen?

Several loud knocks on his door interrupted Vladan from his late night musings. It was dark, and he was tired and slightly hungover from the alcohol he had consumed several hours ago. He sat back as he tossed the towel back into the bucket of dirty water(now shaded a slight pink from the mixture of blood, water and soap). The man pushed the bucket inside the nearest closet when the knocking continued. He headed over to the door, and opened it roughly.

"Teiv?" The man questioned with a sigh of relief. Vladan watched with a small smile, as he allowed the masked man inside his home. "You made it back." He said with a light chuckle. "It's no surprise... You always make it back, don't you?"

He was met with silence, but it wasn't that out of the ordinary. Teiv had never spoken a single word in the past few years Vladan had known him. "I couldn't control my anger." Vladan confessed as he followed after Teiv.

The pair stopped in front of one of the rooms, and he waited outside as Teiv headed inside. Vladan assumed the other man was getting a change of clothes as Teiv's cloak was tossed aside. He patiently waited with his back turned as the other man changed into a different set of clothes.

"Are you done?" Vladan asked. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and assumed it was a yes. The man turned to face Teiv's emotionless white mask.

"Did you see the news?" He asked. Once again, no reply. However, Teiv nodded just enough so that Vladan could notice. There were times when Vladan despised the fact that Teiv never spoke, but yet he was glad to realize that because he never spoke, he would always be willing to listen.

"She has a boyfriend." Vladan blurted out suddenly.

What an idiot...

Out of all the things you could say, you say that?

"Never mind." He muttered as he turned away from Teiv and headed down the hall to finish cleaning.

Kita woke suddenly from her sleep. She had had a nightmare again... This time, her usual nightmare of Puppet directing her every movement had transitioned into Vladan pointing his gun at her.

She stood up, walking to her bathroom. She ran the tap cold and splashed it on her face. She looked up at her reflection, seeing her own dull, joyless eyes. She looked away.

Her dress was still on the floor... She had changed out of it nearly the second she got home. She was now wearing her pyjamas- shorts and an old shirt of James'.

It was a habit of hers that she had gotten into since he left... She hadn't told him and she didn't plan to... At first, it was out of loneliness... Now... She just felt better wearing his shirts...

Climbing back into bed, she checked her phone. Nothing, She didn't know what she was expecting, but nothing was alright.

Teiv placed a hand on Vladan's shoulder in an small attempt to wake him up from his drunken slumber on the dining room table. He sighed when the other man refused to stir, and instead headed away. There was no hope for Vladan once he begun his drunken binges.

He tossed the dirty towel in the sink, before turning on the faucet and washing it thoroughly with warm water and soap. The water turned pink from the blood, and bubbled slightly as it swirled into the sink. Once the towel was relatively clean, he placed it on the edge of the sink to dry, but not before wringing it tightly to get out the remaining drops of water.

Teiv turned over his shoulder to look at Vladan, but the man was still out cold on the surface of the table. He stepped over to the table, picking up the empty glass liquor bottles and trashing them. It was a shame that a man of such caliber could give himself up so easily to something as simple as liquor. Teiv had always found it disappointing, but he pushed his thoughts aside as he filled a clean glass with water and placed it by Vladan so the other man would have something to drink when he woke.

He pulled on his mask, and picked up his cloak in one smooth motion. Vladan's front door opened silently, and Teiv slipped out quietly. He released his grip on the door, and it slammed shut with a noisy thud behind his retreading back.

--

The wind was beginning to pick up, and the cold air tore at Teiv's cloak, but he ignored nature's clawing hands as he ventured down the sleeping city street. His mask blocked the freezing air from smothering his face in it's icy hands, but provided little to no comfort.

This is the place, isn't it?

He knocked on the heavy wooden apartment door. Though he wasn't worried if it was the wrong place, Teiv wasn't looking forward to any attempts at explaining himself. There was no reply, and he knocked again. Perhaps she hadn't heard him because of the roaring winds, or maybe just didn't want to open the door and let him in.

Teiv hesitated. Would Kita even recognize him? For all he knew, she was still unconscious when Russel and his men began firing. More likely than not, the woman would be surprised that he was alive, considering the amount of bullets that had been lodged into his body.

Just as she was falling asleep, there was a knock on the door. She grumbled, not happy about having to get up. She briefly considered changing out of he pyjamas, but decided against it.

"I'm coming." She called.

She quickly looked in her mirror, adjusting her hair to be somewhat tame and ran to the door. She opened it, and was surprised to see on of Vladan's lackeys.

She backed away, looking for her phone. It was all the way in her bedroom... She needed to call the police,,,

Teiv sighed at Kita's fearful reaction to his presence, and made a mental note to himself. He knew that Vladan relied on fear tactic to reign over others, but Teiv had discovered over time that the man was still a relatively caring individual. If the man hadn't cared, there would be no reason for him to have a drinking issue in the first place.

She didn't know did she...? That not everyone associated with Vladan was necessarily a bad person.

Teiv would normally reach forward to pull her back, but knowing Kita's experience of getting forcefully grabbed by Vladan, he refrained from doing so. Instead, he brought his arms out from underneath his cloak, in an attempt to reveal to Kita that he was unarmed and meant her no harm. He lifted his hands up in the air in a neutral position that he hoped was not menacing in any way shape or form.

His emotionless, masked face kept it's blank gaze on Kita. There didn't seem to be a threat there, but he knew that he was treading thin ice. The police wouldn't be able to capture him, but Teiv wasn't looking forward to hiding from officials right after he had broken free. He was also aware of her mimicking abilities, but Teiv knew that would prove useless against him anyway.

Kita eyed his raised hands suspiciously, still keeping her distance. He was a rather imposing figure... She didn't like her odds if it came down to a fight...

Teiv remained stoic in the doorway, not entering but still not leaving either. Instead, he reached into a pocket and slipped out an envelope. It was cream colored, and sealed tightly. He reached out, cocking his head to the side expectantly as he waited for her to retrieve it from his gloved hands.

-

The pen shook from how hard he pressed the tip down on the sheet of paper. He looked up from the paper when the sharp sound of breaking glass interrupted his musings. Teiv focused on the paper again as he ignored Vladan's temper tantrum coming from downstairs.

He is

Teiv crossed out the first two words as he struggled for better wording. It came to him, and he began writing once again.

He is

Loneliness sits over his roots with brooding wings.

Your view of him is different from mine, but I believe that it probably wasn't too far off from what I thought of him when I first encountered him. Never will I say or believe that he is a good person, but he makes often attempts to make up for what he has done.

Yes, he is irrational. Yes, he has killed.

But so have I.

What you don't know is that everybody that you have seen by his side, were taken under his wing. Dawn was saved by him. The twins were saved by him.

I was saved by him.

The walls he has built are thick and strong, but underneath each bloodied layer is an even bloodier reason. He is struggling to survive, though he lives behind a mask of luxury. He only harms others under the pretense he is protecting himself.

He cares about thinks of has changed because of you.

Given enough time...who knows? But it is not for me to say. The choice is yours to make.

I am aware you have probably told the officials everything, but let them know that they will find nothing should they come seeking evidence against him.

I have already taken care of everything.

The choice is yours to make on whether you ever want to see him ever again. However, I despise leaving loose ends untied and so...

I think that you believe that this is the end of the intwinement between his story and yours, but I believe it has just begun.

Teiv didn't bother signing off the letter. He assumed Kita would keep the paper to herself, but who knew? It was better safe then sorry.

-

The wind howled behind Teiv's back, and it lashed angrily at the letter in his hand. It was her choice whether she wanted to claim it or not, and if she didn't... It would be a last goodbye.

Kita grabbed the letter, opening it. She read through it, surprised at the elaborate phrasing.

I can't...

She couldn't allow herself to feel sympathy... If she did, she would go back... If she went back, she would put herself into further danger...

I can't change him... I tried...

The memory of Vladan... so excited from playing a correct note on the violin... Taking care of her while she was unconscious... Eating her meals like a starving puppy...

"I won't take back what I said to the police..." she said quietly. "I can't. But..."

Why? Why did she always...

"I'll talk to him... one more time." she said, walking to her room to change out of her pajamas. "I can't offer more than that..."

Teiv watched her retreading back, taking note of her hesitation as she read the letter. He assumed it would be alright for him to enter, and he closed the door behind him. The man waited patiently for her to get back, she had left too quickly for Teiv to stop her, and the man didn't want to intrude on her inside her own room. Teiv had not expected her to agree, and had assumed that a certain amount of time would pass before she would even attempt to encounter Vladan again. He picked out a pen from the surface of a table and grabbed the envelope he had placed the letter inside.

Now is not the right time.

Teiv scribbled roughly on the paper.

He is not in his right mind... He must prepare for when the police come by his home. It will only ruin your image if any officers spot you near him.

Teiv placed the envelope on the table, before writing several last words in the corner.

I'll come back for you. I'm sure you will need time to think, too.

He shrugged to himself before reaching for the doorknob. Teiv turned over his shoulder for one last glance as he opened the door... The man pulled his cloak tighter around himself as he stepped out into the cold night air.

The door slammed shut.

"...earlier this evening. Patrons of the Silver Bay indicated that the couple began arguing, and the man pulled a gun, threatening patrons..."

Kita sighed. Of course there would be news broadcasts about this...

"...is still under investigation, but the man has been identified as local business CEO Vladan Vietkov. Vietkov has been praised as one of the youngest and most successful CEOs in the industry. The woman that he was with has not been identified, by request of the police..."

Kita turned off the television. Now was not the time...

Vladan stirred, and he opened his eyes blearily. There was a small figure seated across from the table, and he blinked his eyes heavily in an attempt to clear up his vision.

"Teiv?"

No... Teiv had a more masculine body....

"Kita?" He questioned as he sat up. His arm almost knocked over the glass of water placed by his head, and he had to catch it from tipping over. Vladan's gaze dropped on the figure once the water had been set back safely. "Oh..." He muttered. "It's you." The man winced as the beginning of a raging headache throbbed in the back of his mind.

"What...time is it?"

He glanced over at the clock on the wall. It was nearly 4 AM.

"Where's Teiv?" He questioned Skyler. "Er..." Vladan trailed off when he realized she didn't know who he was talking about. "Tall, masked figure. Usually wearing a cloak."
