What kind of creature should the Omanthe be?

Hellooo 😃 @Purple17 and I had so much fun making the Hyacine together that we decided to make another suggestion together. Meet the Omanthe! ❤️

Art (by @purple17): https://www.deviantart.com/pthalogreenie/art/Mothlight-868893897

Egg Description: Omanthe eggs can be found hidden in nooks and crannies of vacant buildings that were once well-loved and cherished, but have been forgotten and fallen into ruin. Omanthe eggs are extremely tiny and fragile; a dozen of the little eggs could fit on your fingernail. They have the color of polished oak wood and the texture of exquisite silk beads.

Creature Description: As Omanthe eggs hatch, they reach for natural sunlight. Young Omanthes burrow deep into the wooden walls of its abandoned building, carving intricate designs and eating out labyrinthine patterns. Omanthes exist in their larval forms for the majority of their lives, decorating these once-beloved buildings with their woodwork. Because of their lengthy larval periods, Omanthes face extinction. Omanthe habitats are frequently torn down and bulldozed, often with Omanthes inside. For this reason, many Arkians banded together to form the Omanthe Preservation Council (OPC). The OPC works to not only protect the Omanthe, but also the ancient buildings themselves. It has been said that the species teaches an important lesson: What has been loved should not be abandoned, and there is value in reflecting on the past.

Once sated, young Omanthe larvae spin cocoons of extravagant, lush silk so dense that it can hold defense against the tapping of even a beak or claw. The Omanthe cocooning period is irregular, each creature emerging at its own pace. Mature Omanthes stretch and warm their breath-taking wings. The beautiful, translucent mosaic-like patterns paint the building with gem tones. Any spot that has been coated in a Omanthe's glowing, prismatic light is not only filled with luminous color, but also peace and tranquility. Mature Omanthes do not eat or drink or sleep, they simply exist within the historic buildings. The life of the moth is short and sweet, and when their life is complete, they simply fade into the beautiful light they provide.

Omanthes can sometimes be seen flying through fields and rural areas, seeking abandoned areas upon which to bestow their eggs. To find an Omanthe haven, one wanders a wasteland until they stumble upon a lost oasis of hushed beauty and aesthetic serenity.

Thanks for viewing! I'd appreciate any pings/feedback you could give. 😊

Wow wow, more fluffy moths! The third stage is *chef's kiss* and their furry little face at the end! ❤️ Love it.

I particularly like how they tend to be found in abandoned places. Fun lore for spooky folks.

The wings in the last stage, and even the first hatched stage, remind me so much of stained glass! I love it. The description was beautifully written too :')

@frankenstein @shadowdragon28 thanks! I've always operated under the policy that more fluff = better whenever possible

@valorie100 The initial inspiration was stained glass, I'm glad it shines through!

@izziebee1017 it's so pretty and shiny *-* it does seem like the perfect suggestion for spring ^^ the description is really precious, @purple17 did an excellent job with the art xD
if these didn't seem like they're best to be left alone, i'd probably grab keeps of them for the lights xD i don't think we have a lot of moth-type creatures as it is, i'd love to see this as one 😋
i like the abandoned places theme, instead of making the place seem gloomy, the lil guys make them beautiful 😊 if these were a thing, i'd totally hoard thanks. ^^

Wow! You two have put in a ton of work and it shows! Really well thought out description and the stained glass-style wings are my favourite. Good job! I hope you get to see your ideas added to the site because my goodness, you deserve them to be.
