Investigating These Bugs

• Character issues with the "<" and ">" characters (a known site-wide issue) (@captaincookies)
• Issues with "Group by shop it restocks from" sorting (@chaotictreat)

Also, on the mobile version, there is no way to open the galleries quickly from the “shop” tab, even though I believe that’s where it’s located on desktop.

Thanks for confirming the quest algorithm bit.

Found a slight issue.
When using the search feature, if you click on an item, it opens the gallery a little .... misaligned to where it seems like it should. When the item is positioned down the gallery a bit, the item name appears at the top of the screen, with the item image being out of frame, so you need to scroll up to see it.

In testing I used the search phrase of book, and the gallery result was found when clicking

Update on my gallery item order bug. I left everything as it was yesterday instead of reorganizing everything back to the placement I prefer. Logged on today to see that though I touched nothing in the gallery order, the travels as well as a few other items have moved around again to a completely different place. Super weird to me.

yes, i've also been having this issue where the items would "run around" in the gallery, so i would have to go in and move them back to their original spots. i didn't really notice a pattern so I have no idea why it's happening

I tried testing minnie298a's issue and it is happening to me as well. I did notice that if I searched and clicked an item that was sorted at the bottom of someone's gallery, item popped up with the image being in the frame (no scrolling).

Example:
If I searched and clicked "Pea Space Helmet Soup" in Ian's gallery, the image for the item, which is in the first row, is out of frame.
If I searched and clicked "Aspen Trees" in Ian's gallery, the image for the travel, which is in the fourth row, is out of frame.
If I searched and clicked "Kwanzaa Pattern" in Ian's gallery, the image for the travel, which is in the last row, is in the frame.

I'm assuming items that are organized in any row except the last are to have the top of the image touching the top of the screen when clicked upon, like when we search and click on an item to buy in Users' Shops.

I am wondering:

1. If there is an option for users to change items displayed per row
2. If there can be options for hidden or selective showing of lists just for myself or allowing other specific users to see

Ordering Bug:
I went and checked, and this has happened to me as well. Looking at my Gallery Front ( https://eggcave.com/@minnie298a/gallery ) it seems Ghosts in the Graveyard has moved from somewhere down the bottom towards the top.

I had my gallery sorted so there was, by row:
1 - 4 x Skull ice creams
2 - Brain Ice Cream, 3 x Tentapops
3 - 4x Worm Ice Creams
4 - Rolled Ice Cream, 3 x Moldy things
5 - 3x moldy things, cracked egg
6 - 4x spirit bread
7 - 4x Oozing cupcakes.
8 and below - random gross and spooky stuff.

Basically, with the Ghosts in the graveyard shifting into row 5, it knocked the cracked egg into row 6, which has now thrown off the "completed" rows of spirit bread and Oozing cupcakes so they no longer take up the whole row. For example row 7 is now a spirit bread and 3 oozing cupcakes.

Honestly, if I hadn't spent so long organizing things so the breads and cupcakes took up whole rows in middle of the gallery (counting, moving, checking the front page, etc), I might not have noticed the random moving of the ghosts.

Seeking a rules clarification, can we ask if something in a gallery is for trade as long as we don't assume that it is and are open to receiving a no? I ask because I seek a lot of retired items which are common to put in galleries to show off, but if I shouldn't inquire with a gallery owner then I won't.

@captaincookies This is a good question, I'd love some clarification on that too.

"If you find an item in a user's Gallery that you wish to purchase, do not assume that the user wishes to sell it. Galleries are understood to be an exclusive Not For Trade (NFT) and display-only space."

The second sentence sounds pretty clear, with terms like 'exclusive' and 'only'. But the first sentence feels less clear, and makes it sound like the user *might* be willing to sell it we just shouldn't assume that.

I hadn't commented on the items moving by themselves issue because I hadn't really put much effort into a specific order yet, but it's definitely happening to mine as well because I know that all my travels were ordered before my drinks (except for Stylish Morning Glory in the first spot) and now I've got Bone Sundae, Ghost Square Mug, Funny Coffee Mug, Fresh Blue Spring Coffee, and Blue Snowflake Hot Chocolate showing before any of the travels.

edit to add: Question, is there a reason items in other user's galleries are 'clickable' even though clicking them doesn't do anything? Is that just a left over from the shop code? (It would actually be really cool if clicking a gallery item in someone else's shop took you to that item's Items Database page!)

More on the moving items:
Yesterday, I added another item to my gallery (At the Art Studio). It automatically went to the top, and I moved it to the bottom, second from last. That's still all good.

However now "2019 Cake" has migrated to the first spot, top row from, somewhere down the bottom couple rows. This throws out the 4 Skull Cones. Also my "Gold Creepy Mug Decor" has moved to the middle (interestingly immediately after the Ghosts in the Graveyard that moved yesterday) from the bottom where the other two still sit.

My last 6 rows containing the flags have not moved for five days. I've taken a succession of screenshots over the last few days and I've put them together on a slide. I often take screenshots in the morning, afternoon, and evening of each day. I'm posting this in case if anyone is smarter than me and possibly sees a pattern.

Thanks for continuing to report the "items moving around" order issue. I actually haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what's causing this, so please keep providing details here. Things that are helpful:

1. Screen shots of the order you SET IT IN from the gallery stock page
2. Monitoring the length of time that's gone by
3. Screen shots of the order of items comparing the stock page VS gallery front pages

@Ian Are the items trying to rearrange themselves alphabetically? Or rearranging themselves based on some other order that is unbeknownst to me?

I wonder if there is a save feature if that would eliminate the moving of random items. Like, when I set a cove list, I press the green check and I get confirmation at the top, "Your Cove List order has been updated for all creatures." And when I update prices, I can press the enter key or "Update Prices" and I get a banner at the top that says "Item Prices Updated." But when I move my items in my gallery, there is no button to confirm the moving my items or a banner. There is only a message/banner when there is the removal of items.

Items have not changed. I removed the majority of my items (84 --> 48) and then put my items in alphabetical order. I arranged them last evening and checked them this evening.

i think i've voiced my support for this already, but i think it would really nice to be able to show ever individual item in the galleries rather than a "x in gallery" note because not only would it really emphasize how many items collectors have (@/redflipflap's gallery, for example. imagine how awe-inspiring it would be if you saw every tasty seafood on a stick laid out on their gallery!), it would allow players to build patterns and designs with their items!

Items moving:
First, how do I post screen shots? I've taken them, but not sure how to post them.

Anyway, I took my first lot back on the 23rd Jan. Once as it had decided it wanted to be, and again after I had it how I wanted it. Checked again the next day, everything was fine and then promptly got caught up in CRW and other stuff.

Went to check again today (02/02)and several things have moved. The most notable is the book was placed last, not first, and the green spirit bread was supposed to be 1st on the 6th row. But there are several others out of place as well.

So while things have moved, they have not moved back to how they were before I sorted them. It appears random both times.

Side note: Dates are my time and what is showing as the saved times on the files on my computer.

i don't have any screenshots of it happening (yet), but i've also been having issues with my items randomly rearranging themselves. they also rearrange every time i add something new to my gallery, which is frustrating. i love this feature but the items moving around is a hassle!! ☹️

I think you can go to imgbb.com and upload the image, then copy and paste the link they provide. I haven't done screenshots on there before but I just discovered it for regular photos, so it should work the same?

I'm not sure if the "Group by Shop it Restocks From" Button works.
If I have my items sorted in a random fashion (say by color-ish), and then I hit "Group by Shop it Restocks From", it will reload the page, but nothing has changed in the order at all.

Sorting in other ways seems to work from what I've seen so far, but the sorting by shop doesn't seem to.


And again, would still love the ability to separate out duplicate items.
If I collected certain items for an aesthetic, I might wanna show the same item twice for theme purposed (like I would do in a cove list), but ATM that's not possible.

I was wondering if we could please have the following features:
1. If we can group buy slots for upgrades like the lottery - this is the same problem with coves, side note it would be really nice if we could have that for cove expansion too.
2. I would like to have the ability to mass remove or mass add the items.
3. If we could have sections working like tabs (vertical), as well as a separate section for seeking gallery items (like wishlist that gets displayed at the top)

Seconding @cho on being able to mass add or remove items (heavy on remove!). The longer I use the gallery and change my displays around, the more tedious it gets to remove each unique item type individually, especially editing quantity. It'd be nice to have a setup similar to an improved version of strongroom sorting!

Ie. being able to set the quantity of each item to be removed, but removing all ticked items at once and their quantity instead of one specific item type at a time! ❤️ This has been my only big gripe so far!

Just a few thoughts before this wraps up:
I honestly haven't been using this as much as I'd hoped, mostly because of the layout. PleasepleasePLEASE allow different tabs/groups/etc, ways to organize items akin to cove lists or similar. I honestly just don't see myself spending a lot of time with this feature otherwise, it's just so very different than how I'd imagined.

More customization would be great, I'd love to be able to add 'tags' or otherwise 'label' different items to express why I like them. Being able to mass-delete would be very helpful as well.

I'm hoping the issue of items randomly moving around is going to b fixed before being rolled out to everyone? I haven't been great about keeping track of my gallery order, but I can see right now that things are still changing (specifically I had Christmas Morning before Elegant Masquerade Pattern and Stylish Morning Glory, now it's showing after Stylish Morning Glory).

I'm also confused how exactly new items are automatically ordered if we don't change the order ourselves? I just added Pink Royal Crest, Sunset And Snowfall, and Red Royal Crest (added all 3 at once), and they automatically showed up towards the top, right after Mint Chocolate Design. It doesn't seem to follow any of the gallery-wide order options that I can tell.

I would *LOVE* a way to mass move items back to inventory or ideally also your strongroom. I want to switch out my gallery every month and manually moving 100+ items is a long and painful process. Thanks!!

I added four Pantheart Bobblehead toys to my gallery about two weeks ago and they have not moved from the top of the gallery since, so at least some things are staying in their original placement. I did not move them from where the gallery automatically placed them, maybe rearranging the items makes them susceptible to wandering around.

Update: They have moved around since this post.

Welp, somehow my beloved Mint Chocolate Design has migrated to the *very end* of my gallery, despite repeatedly manually sorting it as the very first item. I've seen it jump around before but not to the very bottom! @Ian 'Early March' has come and gone, hoping you are making some progress with this?
