Sad to see the art changed, I thought it would just be a 'joke species' and stay that way, the sketchy style made it look really unique.

Ew. I actually loved the old art style and paid EC for a couple of the creatures. This was an April Fools joke so it seemed like it should have been an exception to the usual art style. (All these years later I'm still upset over the Habba's egg art change.) . . .

... the glossy polished look loses the charm. / What isn't typical w eggcave is changing art. Usually we get a whole new creature a few years later - if there's a sense of dissatisfaction or feeling that one needs an upgrade.

I think, in addition to the excellent points already made, the Follyn's description could do with a revisit, now that the 'joke' part of the joke creature has been removed.

(oop, going through my records it was another creature I paid for, but I was prepared to w the Follyn) / Sidenote: the tail on the new art reminds me of the toothpaste I used to use as a kid. lol. Now I can't unsee it.

Its description doesn't really make much sense now. Kinda prefer the darker colours on the old one too; the new one feels a little overly shiny in areas. Felt similarly about some other creatures drawn by this artist - not a complaint, just a personal preference.

NGL I was excited for a “sketchy” creature. It was fun. Something that rough and flat kinda works as an April fools creature. But with this type of thing “never” being allowed on the site- OK. I was going to freeze in egg but the render isn’t my cup of tea. Hyenas are cool tho!

@jarsha @valorieviolet I've been wanting variations on creatures for awhile too. As in nature there's never just one type. It seems something that is logical and well overdue.

@veritaspunk I’m actually disappointed, I was excited to get to hunt for a second Follyn form only to realize they changed the original sketchy form ones I already have. I’m bummed out to see it go because it was really cute and sweet looking.

gotta admit I'm a bit bummed we're not getting the original ☹️ given it's an april fools creature I don't see an issue with it looking different form the usual style. with how poorly artists get treated & paid nowadays especially because of genAI this year's joke being- (1/2)
