Cylan eyed Aubrey wearily, "Where do you intend to go?" he asked finally, echoing Haku's earlier look

"An exotic village lies to the South, it is close to the cursed city that is intended to be our goal destination," Her eyes widened with excitement. "And they will probably have a cure for Haku's dog state!"

Cylan shrugged, "Sounds okay."He managed to offer her a faint smile, showing that his humour hadn't yet died.

Haku's eyes narrowed. Sure. 'Course they will. He was meant to get excited like that? He wondered if the girl could actually believe herself. That had to be one in a million. He sighed.

Cassandra figured 'Why not...Leaving tonight would give them a head start.' So she closed her door and got dressed in warm clothes, slid on her boots, and began packing up the rest of her things.

"Okay, is everyone set?" She put on mittens, after the night's frostbite possibility she couldn't be too careful. "Is there like a doggy coat we could put on Haku? He might just get cold, even huskies do."

With her cloak secured, her pack slung over her shoulder, and her sword sheathed, Cassandra waited in the hallway for the others.

Cylan ignored the rest of the conversation as he dredged himself from bed. He tugged on his thick coat and gathered the rest of his belongings into his pack. Sighing he hefted it on. He looked at Haku, "Hey, I guess I'm going to have to pack your stuff up; unless you want to leave it here. Is that okay with you?"

Haku gave the girl a look that said, "Oh please," seeping of sarcasm. The birdthing gave him a wake-up call about the problem of his things. They consisted of a small pile of clothes, some money, and... A small, odd assortment of items, most of which looked like they served no purpose, but to Haku they were trophies, souvenirs and keepsakes. Some of them pained him to leave behind but to him that was better than entrusting it to these.... He eyed the group. Um... Them.He picked out the few things that mattered, and was about to turn when he saw something tucked under his pillow. What the-? Was his first thought. It couldn't have followed me... Last time he saw that thing he'd left it behind in the inferno.... No... It must be a different one. He stared at it, and pulled it free. The same symbol was etched into the metal, no mistaking it.Knowing he'd regret this, he pushed the charm into his bundle, then kicked the money over to the birdthing. He'd nicked a fair share from those bandits a few days north: robbing robbers is okay, right? To be honest, that didn't really matter to him.He was ready.

Cylan shrugged as he picked the stuff Haku had given him. He decided to put it in its own bag, which he put into his pack - to avoid any sort of dispute. He considered the money as he picked it up, "You know how much is in here right?" he queried, upon a nod from Haku, he added it to the rest of the things."So are we ready to leave?"

Haku wondered if the Birdthing couldn't count. He shot him a scornful look and sauntered out the door into the cold of winter. The wind shot through his fur, ruffling it the wrong way, an unfamiliar sensation but Haku paid it no heed. The cold sank in and he relaxed. The ice burned inside of him and made him feel more alive than anything else. The snow dampened his senses and he sniffed the air. Which way? That way. He tensed his muscles and sprang, but as soon as his feet left the ground he knew his dog form did not contain the same thrilling speed as his human, and length of each stride lost by his shorter doggy legs reduced it as well.He paused, downcast.Still... He was faster than any -human-!

Aubrey walked out into the winter air. She somehow felt warm in the utter bleakness. "It should be a few miles to the exotic landscape, then a few more to the village," she told the group.

"Mmm," the girl looked into the mirror with frown. She showed it to the boy. "What does that look like to you?" She asked in a playfully amused tone.He looked startled. "Um..." He stared into the mirror."Like he's -going the wrong way-," she poked him."Oh." He rubbed his side. She sighed dramatically. "If he's not going to come to me then I'll have to go to him." She stood up and slung her bow over her shoulder. "Uh... What about me?" The boy wondered as he was left behind. Haku reached the top of a hill and looked back down at the tiny figures below. They really were slow. This was going to be one long, tiring journey, he sighed.

"Haku, we need to pick up the pace," she had trouble walking through the layers of snow for one layer had formed they dried over so it was crunchy, then the upper layer was soft which made it easy to fall through. "Everyone, something is wrong here," her boot was through the crunchy layer but instead of feeling the ground she felt something wet and slippery.

Haku snickered. Wasn't he -waiting- for her? He ran back down to her and twitched his ears.Being both lighter in weight, as he was only a puppy, and having his weight more spread out, as he had four legs, made it much easier to traverse the snow. Being a husky helped too, they weren't called snow dogs for no reason.

"No. This can't be.. We can't be on a lake. Haku move back!" Aubrey could hear the cracking ice, she was light but the snow was packing down and it was just too much. Aubrey ran to a large mound of snow, hoping it would be land.

Haku let out a yelp as the snow fell away beneath him and a gaping crack opened up. He managed to get a grip on one edge of the ice with his front paws and scramble back up, his bottom half drenched. He shook the icy water out of his fur, then the ice started breaking again under his weight and he ran for it.

Aubrey hugged the large mound, but found it not to be land. Something, metal. As she wiped the snow off of the side she found it to be a plane. "Haku, tread lightly but, look!" She looked at the plane; shiny, new. It looked like it had just been placed there will little snow covering it. As she opened the door she found it to be pristine. "I wonder how this got here?" She found a note on the dashboard. It read "thought you might need this", boy were they right.

Haku jumped up onto the strange object, sniffing it curiously.
balletninja • 10 December 2011 at 11:43 AM
The plane was warm, like it had just been flown there. "How peculiar," Aubrey commented, feeling the smooth, leather captain's chair. "Anyone know how to fly a plane?"
