@Trish
Tell me about it. XD
It would be akward if he'd ever somehow met Riley again..
.
Leon: "...I thought I killed you!" oAe
Riley: "...What?"
Alex: "Wa,Wa, WAIT. You thought you...Killed my brother...AND YOU NEVER ONCE MENTIONED IT?"
Leon: "..." *Pauses, thinking* "Hey, Alex? I think I killed your brother."
Alex: "Yeah. A bit too late there."
Leon: *under his breath* "Dang it!"
~Cue sitcom music then hit to commercial~

...
My mind is all over the place, isn't it? O.e

Anyway, I don't know what is going on, but I kinda might give up, cause I only like sure things. >.>

/Le sigh

"AND welcome, welcome to 19th annual Truce!" the announcer, her voice magically magnified tenfold, sat in the commentator's box, her awful impression of Effie Trinket making anyone who'd got their hands on The Hunger Games stare (which was quite a few; the books that did get to IoD circulated pretty fast), and the horrid pink outfit she was wearing gave those who did headaches. "This month, there will be no war between us and the Glaeroes! No missions, no work!" she shouted joyfully. From his seat in the leader's box, Col had to restrain himself from bashing his head against the rail. "Instead, we will spend the month determining this year's leaders, the only way we know how; by FIGHT! First, I'll announce the current leaders!" she said it as if this was some kind of game leaderboard- which was fair enough. She couldn't possibly understand.
There was a giant sphere of a screen hovering about ten meters off the ground in the center of the arena. On it, nine sparkly numbers popped up. Col sighed.
"Number Nine~ also known as Ivory."
An image of her, starless hair arranged elegantly but simply into a bun, her equally inky eyes glinting, and skin pale and ghostlike appeared. It wasn't until she blinked that Col realized it was a video. They'd stepped up since last year. So this was how she appeared right now... He couldn't help but admit she was beautiful.

(A screen shows up in every room, but it's all happening at the arena ^^")

Annabell, who randomly came back with a sea-sick teleporter-Don't ask-, was watching the screen in the cafeteria with intrest.
'Hunger Games impression, nice.' Annabell commented in her head.
"Number Eight! Also know as Eight!"
While the announcer didn't even flinch at that statement, Annabell was a bit confused.
That's why she made sure to pay attention while the screen cut to video of the Number.

Six tapped his fingers impatiently on the rail as they announced Eight.
Despite already seeing her, Thomas STILL couldn't really believe his eyes. To disprove his belief, he risked another glance at the Number that was sitting only a few feet away from him.
Eight's hair had been straightened so it framed her a face a bit nicer than usual. For the Truce, it had been dyed black-JET black- except for a splash of color with three dark purple streaks on the back left side of her head. With this, her unusually straight face, and a pair of dark sunglasses she'd donned to hide her captivating eyes, even Six could hardly recognize her.
...Well, Thomas bitterly admitted she cleaned up nicely, but that feeling was nothing compared to the rage he felt at the girl-She wouldn't have to compete in the Truce!
Also, he had heavy feelings of anomosity towards the Number...

Like Nine, Seven wasn't present in the special box.
"Number Seven~ also known as Clay!"
Clay? Col frowned. Some sort of power... Over clay? Evie was going to wipe the floor with him.
Of course he looked almost the same as usual in the screen, except he'd gone to the effort of spiking up his usually messy hair. He smiled shyly to the camera, and Col would have sworn he could hear his fangirls swooning and fainting, even though the box was soundproof.
Col remembered how it had been last year; a few certain Leaders had had so much fun getting their images photoshopped until there was NO resemblance. He smirked to himself, then a thought occurred to him... Shoot, wasn't he going to be on camera soon? ... Crud. He couldn't even remember what he looked like. Oh well... As if to calm himself, Col found he was automatically running some kind of technique in his head... What was this one for, anyway? He'd learnt so many.

@Asi
Eight probley was one of those Leaders. XD

"Six, also known as Thomas!"
Six sat up straighter, and glanced away from the direction the camera was pointing, which was conveniently in the same direction as their screen was.
Ugh. The camera was zoomed in a certain way that made Thomas seem shorter than he was, and is.
He frowned, and, a few seats away, he heard Eight laugh.
And pretty loudly at that.
Thomas made sure to let no emotion on his face, at least intill the next Number appeared on the screen.
Eight continued to giggle loudly-It seemed as her new wardrobe change was just to, once again, mess with people's heads.
"Ooooh, you're going to be SOOO glad Evie is going to murder you after THAT." Eight grinned to Six from the floor.
Thomas didn't bother to hide the distain on his face, and turned his head pointedly away from Eight.
"Oh, come on Tommy, don't be that way!" cooed Eight, batting her eyelashes under her thick sunglasses.
Thomas still ignored her, and rather expertly.

@Taffy789 That's what I was thinking X3

Spike sighed. He really couldn't believe how oblivious others were. Nine would never be able to defeat Six, not now, he thought confidently. A shame, but fact.
He went back to playing Cathedral on his IPad.

Mhm. C:

Number Five's #1 rule was: Never look bad, EVERRR.
He spent the last day (must get that beauty sleep, don't want EYEBAGS.) infront of mirrors, perfecting every feature for just this moment. Damon checked each step in the process off as he completed them:

Trimmed his eyebrows and hair, wash his hair, style his hair, whitened his teeth, comb his eyelashes, apply creams to his face, and spent 3 hours picking out an outfit.

And now his moment to shine: The lighting was great, the camera gathering every feature.

Number Five's impressive 8-hour routine.
He was too good for even Barbie now.
(Maybe a touch over done...)

@Trish LOLOLOL worse than Seven XD Much much worse XD

Finally, (the one they'd all been waiting for- or rather, just him)
"Number Four, also known as Col!"
Trying to look anywhere but the screen, like every other year before, Col found himself once again having a staring contest with the camera. At least, after Five's horrible Kenny impression, most people's eyes would probably be too badly damaged to see him. Unfortunately, Col could see his own reflection in the camera lense. All he could think was, "When was the last time I brushed my hair?" and hated himself for even thinking something so awfully vain.
(He couldn't have known exactly how his deep eyes enthralled the audience, how they did that to everyone...)
Thankfully, the ordeal was over quite quickly and Col was stunned, with the thought; "I won?" (He was one of those people who ALWAYS blinked in their photos).
"Oh, I didn't congratulate you, did I... Four," Spike's tone was innocent, but it made his stomach drop several stories. No...
"Three, also known as, Fain!"
He forced himself to look up at the picture, black and white, with the letters, "MSNG N ACTN", emblazoned over the top of Fain's cheerful, smiling face.
He snapped his eyes shut, unable to face it any longer. They hadn't exactly been close... But Fain had been his idol. He'd been everyone's idol. He couldn't believe he was dead.

Zach sat down with a sigh in the arena.
Man, did his arms feel sore. He'd been training ever since he'd gotten promoted... Up intill the Illusionist in charge of the training room took a break to watch the Truce start.
Zach didn't bother to watch the T.V., but instead stared out at the arena...They sure picked the best time for him to get promoted.
Not that he was scared of losing, no, Zach was always confident he was going to win, if not, he would find a way to get out of it. He was more worried ABOUT winning though... He HIGHLY doubted being a Number was all roses and sunshine-It had made a few people go insane, as Eight can demostrate.
...
And it seemed it could also get you killed.
Zach finally glanced at the screen when he heard some one gasp "Oh no!" beside him.
Three had gone missing in action.
Zach wasn't affected, of course. Three had been his Commander and all, but he hardly knew the guy, and he already kind of expected it... With that dizty girl giving him his promotion and all.

@Trish XD Col doesn't like him X3 Different people think to different extremes when it comes to extreme people.... XD

@Taffy789 ROSES AND SUNSHINE?! XD You're kidding XD

(EVERYONE. I'm going to explain Two's ultimately confuddling power on the discussion topic XD)

And it showed. Most notably, a number of Third D girls who'd been around before his fateful departure sobbing onto each others' shoulders. They said there were no heroes at IoD. They were wrong. Fain had been a true hero, Col sighed. But the cold-hearted Effie Trinket took no notice, preparing to move on like a robot.
"Live in 10, 9-" Spike had set himself a personal countdown? Col turned and stared at the guy's wristwatch, from which the voice was coming from. Then there was a long pause. "Eeeiiiggghhhttt," the watch eventually intoned, dragging the word out ridiculously long. At first Col thought it was malfunctioning. Then;
"Ssseeevvveeennn,"and he realized what was going on.
The jerk was slowing down time (or whatever it was he does) just to delay the moment of his debut on screen!
"Sssiiixxx."
Col gritted his teeth in irritation. He was making everyone wait just so he could finish his goddarned chess game! (It was actually Cathedral).
"Fffiiivvveee..."
God... Col sighed for the zillionth time that day. He wanted to tap his foot on the floor, but that would just be as slow as the timer. Maybe if he counted the seconds in his mind to the seconds in real life...
"Fffooouuurrr..."

@Asi He said scarcastically. XP

"What?" Annabell flipped around. "Oh! Hi Jade." she monotoned, almost not suprised.
She switched the conversation back to the topic at hand.
"Oh, Five? He reminded me of a barbie doll. And not Ken." Annabell smirked. "Also, i'm ninety-nine precent sure he plucked his eyebrows. What kind of-"
Wait.
Why was she suddenly reminded of Catcher?
...
Now she felt sad.

@taffy789 That's why I said, you're kidding XD

Spike had won the game by now (thinking that made Col lose one. Darn it, and it would take an eon to announce it aloud! So he skipped that... And you just lost the game XD), and he was just procrastinating for the sake for procrastination.
"Tttthhhhrrrreeeeeeee..."
To Col's surprise, Two got out of his chair and walked to the back of the box. Reaching a hand into his jacket pocket, he retrieved a cigarette and a lighter. Four had never known about that dirty habit. Two lit it and took several deep breaths.
"Ttttwwwwoooo..."
With the timer dragging it out longer than ever, the smoke started polluting the box, not that Two cared. Six cast him a dirty look.
"Ooonnneee..."
He snuffed out the cigarette and walked calmly back to place, with perfect timing.
"Live!" The electronic voice resumed normal speed and Effie Trinket finally announced him.
"Number Two, also known as Spike!"
And after all that, he wasn't even looking into the camera. He'd gone back to playing Cathedral.
"And that's it folks!" If that had annoyed Effie, she didn't show it. "Now for the announcements... Number Three has been assumed dead. With this, all current numbers underneath gain a promotion, and..." she stopped and stared at her notes (and not because of the crying Third D girls).
"One is... Gone."
Shocked, Col's eyes instantly flickered back to Two to gauge his reaction. Definitely not what he was expecting either. Did this now make Two... One?

"Something wrong?" she asked, gathering up 1% of concern.

Gone?!?, Zach thought in shock. The Falchion's most powerful person just can't be GONE.
Something had to have happened.
Well, of course.
There was a rather long list of things that could've happened...Killed, kidnapped, lost-But those seemed unlikely.
Maybe he had just gotten tired of being dragged around by the Gov, blew a hole through couple of high-ranking official's heads, and left.
...Best case senario by far, but was it even likely?
Either way, things just got a bit more interesting.

Back in the Leader's booth, Six stared at the railing in front of him, unable to speak. The news about Three had dissapointed him, but, then again, he'd already been fearing the worst.
But One being GONE...That was the equivalent to a suckerpunch to the stomach.
Still, a thought in the back of his head emerged...Moving up two spots...Did this make him "safe" for the Truce?
On another hand, the only one seemingly not affected by this news was Eight, who seemed to be shaking a box of orange tic-tacs as if it was a magic eight ball.
"Soooooooo..." Eight broke the silence, dragging the "oh" sound for as long as humanly possibly. "Who's ranking what now? I know I don't change..."
Eight somehow managed to seal her postion tight for awhile, so everyone just tended to count around her.

"He left this letter," Effie Trinket fumbled with the wax seal in her nervousness, and Spike got impatient, for the first time his life, and said quietly,
"Give that here." That was unnecessary, though, as one of his own personal assistants teleported over, snatched the envelope and handed it to him. He read it slowly in silence, without any visible reaction.
"Well...?" Col prompted after a minute, annoyed that HE got to read it and keep them all waiting.
Spike flashed him a strange smile, surprising, well, everyone. "He thought a change of scenery would do him good; apparently, and I quote, "Looks like those Southerners are even more hopeless than you." Oh, and-" he stopped. "Let's just conclude that One had a wonderful way with words. His substitute should come- er, sometime. Great. I really didn't want to move my office," he yawned. "Carry on," he fixed a look Effie which caused her to flusteredly drop all the notes she was holding, and making continuing pretty difficult.
"Um... Right. Erm..." she flailed.
"Just skip it," someone growled, entering the arena. "I want to fight already."
"Oh. Yes." No one paid Effie any more attention. Seven, aka Clay, was dragged onto the field, looking pretty depressed.
"And... Fight!"

"Replacement? Oh goodie. I was just beginning to think that being stuck in an interrogation room with Col would be pretty awkward." Eight thought outloud.
She continued to stare off into space, intill she was interrupted by a telaporter appearing right beside her, holding a bag of popcorn.
"Yay! Food and entertainment!" Eight clapped, and took the popcorn away from telaporter, who disappeared a moment later.
The Number pulled off her sunglasses, and leaned in a bit more to get a good glimpse of the fight.
As she did this, the new Five turned his head pointedly away from Eight. Not because he was afraid of her trying to use her power on him, but because he was secertly worried he might feel tempted to sneak a glance himself.
Thomas was aware Eight's eyes appeared different to everybody, but...he saw pools of blue and green swirling irises, and such depth to them that he couldn't help but be reminded of a pond he used to live by...A long time ago.

(Update: Eight's eye color is usually tied in to some happy memory you have, and wish to remember. Happy memory, eye color of someone you knew, ect. X3 So, it can change, depending on what you most want to see... XD Also, VERY VERY strong mind barriers won't be affected at first, but...They shouldn't stand there long. XD )

Col flinched, not having thought of that. He had absolutely no idea how Two SURVIVED her. Personally, he thought, with such close proximity, hours on end... She'd break him in a week.
Of course, he had no idea how Two would react about handing his job over to Col. He'd probably be irritating and change the number-job layout. That had happened a few years ago, and it had been such a PAIN with the morphers going round, suddenly changing half the base's numbers.

Apart from cigarettes, which Two felt, he could drop at any time (don't they all?), he had only one other addiction; Eight's eyes (Was he sure it just her eyes, or the whole person?). They were so perfect... Such a pale grey filled with absolutely -nothing at all.- Or that's how he saw them, normally. At first, when she took off her glasses, he thought she was wearing coloured contacts or something. How could her eyes appear so golden? They looked almost exactly like- No. He blinked, and they dissolved back into the normal, empty gray. He must have been seeing things.
They were like a drug. His own eyes flickered away, then were slowly drawn back.
It was a lot worse than cigarettes.

(Two's pretty much never felt happiness in his life XD)

I hope Zach doesn't get a hold of a cigerette, I imagined him as a smoker. XD Relives stress, they say.
(But I do not recommend them. >.> )

"Come on! Kill each other already!" Eight complained, and threw a handful of popcorn-With rather amazing accuracy-at the Numbers in the arena.(A kernel landed in Evie's hair.)
Soon, she got bored with this, however, and turned to Col.
"So, Col. Are ya' scared that Evie is going to die a horrible painful death out there at the hands of Clay?", she asked bluntly, with an overly-innocent look in her eyes.
"In the words of Fiv-I mean Four, simply LOVELY girl." Thomas muttered to himself. He had enough of this. Five started planning a way to some how get Eight out of the Leader's Booth...
That or maybe he could shapeshift into a canary and just fly out himself. Ah, the possiblities...

@Trish
"Hmm, oh, nothing's wrong." Annabell assured Jade. She glanced up at the screen. "Looks like Nine is going to battle Seven...For some odd reason. This whole "Truce" thing is kin of confusing.."

@taffy789 They're quite expensive here, so you really better hope not XD *Because if he got hooked, he would probably get broke pretty fast- and then he wouldn't be able to buy Raven dinner XD Not that she'd sit around in the same room as a smoker....... X3*

Evie shook the popcorn out of her hair (wasn't that godmodding? D:< Jk XD) and shot daggers up at Eight (figuratively). She then ran at Seven, quite unlike her usual fighting style, and he sighed, straightening, then lifted an arm to block just in time. This wasn't really the fight; they weren't using powers OR weapons yet. This was just warming up. What happened was that they fought hand-to-hand until one was forced to take out a weapon, and so on until they were fighting full force. This custom had been around for ages and no one seemed to know why. Apparently it was to save energy; why use all your strength to kill someone when it might be you could do it with a fraction? Why people used to regard their energy as so precious was the question. Unfortunately, Evie thought she'd discovered the answer...

"Of course not," Col turned to her slowly, looking at her contemptuously. He was about to say something else when Evie got irritated with Effie Trinket the commentator and smashed her box to pieces. He coughed to hide a laugh.
He noted Two had already left the box without a word. Man, was he glad HE wasn't going to be the new One, not for a while at least. He wondered what the new One would be like.

Yeah, I figured the black market prices were insane, and if he was caught, he'd get in trouble, so I didn't add-(OMG, the "D" button is SOOO close to the "S" button... That would've been awkward. XD )- that trait...And wahhh? When did I agree to this? XD

~~

"Are you sure?" Eight blinked, her tone turning a bit more sympathic. "I am in charge of Information, after all..."
"And also a compulsive liar." Thomas sighed.
For everything it was worth, this WAS one of Eight's "better" days. Though Thomas swore he liked Eight .01% better when she had that dreamy, far-away look in her eyes, and not when she was actually able to carry on a conversation.
...And was it just his imagination, or did Eight seem a bit...meaner when she wasn't in her own Lala Land?
In any sense, her mood swings were violent, and he prefered to just avoid her at all costs.
"Wait a minute." Eight stood up suddenly, forgetting everything. "Icecream."
And without another word, she was out the door, and probley not coming back to the Leader's Booth anytime soon.
Running hand across his short-cut inky hair, Thomas let out a sigh of relief.
"Glad that's over."

(I agree with Tommy, writing as Eight is fun-Like, very fun- for me, but it's TIRING. xD Don't ask me why. X) )

Col snickered. "As much as I think Evie's wrong about those two..." he laughed again under his breath.
Of course Col was sure. Looking down at the arena, he noticed Evie with her knives, while Seven was still barehanded, and he started.... Then he realized, as Nine slowly forced him to retreat nearer and nearer to the wall, that he'd never seen Seven train with weapons at all. That was strange. Maybe he was one of those klutzes who simply couldn't hold a blade without cutting himself.
But Seven was getting more confident, and starting to hold his own. Suddenly, he threw a punch, harder and faster than anything earlier who have suggested him capable of, not that he'd been weak earlier.
Evie blocked it with a hand, then cried out in pain as he twisted her wrist so much it broke.
There was dead silence.
Evie mended the bone with her power and looked at him with narrowed, smoldering eyes.
"Umm... Sorry?" he apologized weakly.

@Taffy789 Yes X3 He's not an important character X3

Her knives dropped to the ground with a clatter and two larger, almost scimitar-like replacements emerged FROM her hands, into her hands.
"If you want to LIVE," she hissed, advancing. "Show me what you can do, -Seven-."
"Actually, with Three gone-" he began nervously, trying to delay a proper answer.
Without warning, she slashed at him, and when she should have been out of range, the blades elongated and narrowly missed sinking into his skin by a hairsbreadth as he rolled backwards, nicking his top's left shoulder.
"Okay, okay." He pulled himself up, and as he did so grabbed a small rock from the ground. He looked at it for a moment. Evie tapped her foot impatiently while she waited.
"This'll do," he shrugged, and dropped it on the ground.
Where it grew into a clay bunny rabbit the size of a Mastiff, and started licking him up and down, like said dog.
Evie stared. Being mauled to death by a giant bunny-dog made of rock was definitely not how she was going to go down.
