I was so very surprised when you guessed so good XD I'm starting to think I'm becoming predictable O_O OH THE HORROR.

"No, no, Floppsy, not you!" Seven's anguish matched Evie's own.
"You brought out the wrong pet?" she asked in a monotone, the anger boiling up bottled inside of her; for now.
"Um," he rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, and got another rock. This one grew into a bunny practically identical to "Floppsy"- except instead of a Mastiff, it was twice the size of any Saint Bernard, had teeth like chainsaws (um. Sharp, big, and pointy XD), and was slobbering so much that Evie feared if this went on too long, the next match in this arena would be under.... Well, not water.
"Hey, Carnivorous!" How in GOD'S NAME could anyone sound so cheerful when bunny-saliva was raining down on him like Christmas Eve? Evie's mind was drawing a blank. Granted, he was already covered from head to toe in the stuff since "Floppsy" licked him, but... GROSS.
And who names their pet bunnies Floppsy and Carnivorous, Evie wanted to know. Apparently, the answer was Seven.
After a second though, Nine managed to recover and reason properly again. Bone was much tougher, and sharper than clay. This'd still be a piece of cake... Even if that thing looked large enough to swallow her whole.

Now you can only imagine the chaos that ensued. Because the earthquakes that occurred every time gravity decided to pull Carnivorous back down not only killed the display connections, it made everything so shaky you couldn't see straight. Forget elephants, this thing weighed... Well... Too much. Surely there was a weight restriction on baggage into IOD? Evie sighed. If not, they needed to implement one. She'd get round to that, right after she slaughtered one annoying kid (who was older than her) and his stupid pet rabbit.
Skidding out of the way before Carnivorous squashed her, she slipped on Bunny drool and went sliding into the wall. She needed to end this quickly.
Just then, she felt the ground shift underneath her. Evie didn't have enough to time react before she was flung into the sky from Floppsy's underground attack. Recovering midair, she managed to control her fall enough not to plunge straight into Carnivorous's waiting maw.
She needed to finish this really fast. Where was that cowardly Seven? He was nowhere to be seen.
There was nothing for it, she turned to tackle Carnivorous.
Withdrawing one of her knives, she executed a flawless one-handed cartwheel to her left just as one giant clay paw slammed into the spot she'd occupied moments before, and without sparing a moment for hesitation, used the rabbit's limb as a ramp, running up and making it onto the monster's back.

Meanwhile, in the IoD cafeteria, that one lucky soldier just happened to be carrying a plate full of jelly (The Jell-o kind, not the one that goes on toast) at the EXACT moment Carnivorous started send the entire base into earthquake mode.
...
Never the less, the Jelly-in-earthquake thing looked pretty awesome.

I'm not quite sure what's so attractive about a guy (no matter what he looks like) covered in bunny slobber, (did you miss that? XD), or is it the giant drooling rock bunnies themselves? but there you go XD

There are those who have ridden wild, bucking horses. There are those who have ridden vicious Ferals taking the shapes of lions and tigers. There was even a rumor that a kid had once ridden the mythical A-J "Loch Ness Monster". Evie wanted to know whether anyone had ever ridden on the back of a giant, hopping, earthquake-causing clay bunny rabbit before.
Because it was goddarned DIFFICULT. Attempting to sink a dagger into the thing's back for a grip, she was surprised to find the surface utterly solid, but once you broke through that, the stuff was soft like putty almost. Now fairly safe (swinging around like crazy every move the menace made and hanging on for dear life, but at least not CLAWING to stay on for dear life, like before), she brought back her second knife and slashed it across the neck, with incredible strength. The head broke off and fell to the ground with a bone-rattling crunch, followed by the entire body of Carnivorous.
Gathering her wits quickly, Evie lithely leaped down from the colossal corpse and looked around. Unfortunately, the first thing she noticed was that tendrils of clay were emerging from both of the severed wounds, and on meeting promptly began to fuse back together. That wasn't unnexpected, but it was still... Bad. Very bad.

Giant clay bunny.
At first, Zach wasn't sure how this guy became a Number.
As the battle progressed however, he could see the advantages of his power, and wondered if it extended to anything besides giant clay rabbits of death.
Though Seven himself seemed, no-WAS rather pathetic.
If Nine could hold off the clay monster, she had a rather good chance at winning...

She definitely got how Seven was Seven now. But Nine knew she deserved much better than Nine.
Finally, she saw him, leaning against a far arena wall, still panting with exhaustion for summoning something as huge and powerful as Carnivorous. He was also playing paper scissors rock with Floppsy; the latter of which made the game look quite dull, as it only ever seemed to chose rock.
Withdrawing her knives and focussing intently, Evie constructed something closely resembling a revolver out her bone (those crazy Southerners got some things right, she supposed), and several "bullets". All it would take was one of these to hit somewhere vital and it was all over... She loaded her gun and prepared to fire. Evie was a perfect shot. She never missed.
Floppsy's ears twitched; the mass of clay threw itself in the path of the missile. The bullet penetrated the hard hide and sunk into its torso; by the time it left the other side it was too slow to do any harm. Seven caught it absently and watched as Floppsy bullet-shaped hole slowly closed up. Nine shifted warily as the bunny suddenly shrunk, returning to it's original pebble-state. What was he going to do now? She risked a glance behind her, and was startled to see that Carnivorous had also disappeared... Had Seven ran out of energy? or...

THIS IS DRAGGING OUT FARRRR LONGER THAN I PLANNED ._.

Clay flexed his hands, and she noted new gloves apparently made out of his element on them.
"I should tell you," he had to shout for her to hear him, all the way across the stadium. "Bunnies get mad when you decapitate them!"
What Evie heard was, decaffeinate. So what, they had a fondness for coffee? Bunnies really couldn't get any worse than Carnivorous, right? That would just be ridiculous...
Right. Now imagine TWO Carnivorouses, except with the same body. Yeah. A gigagiantunormous, pond-drooling, rock-solid, chainsaw-toothed, forget-measuring-in-elephants-heavy clay bunny... With two heads.
Evie could just imagine the adverts. Buy one, get 1/3 free! Twice the amount of slobber for the price of one!
Oh CRUD. So... This was what they were talking about when the other leaders were talking to Seven about damage costs from Ceberus? Did that mean this thing could get a FREAKING THIRD HEAD?!?
Cussing like a sailor, Evie found herself performing an encore of the earlier performance, only this time she had a bad case of stagefright which wasn't helped by the other actor constantly stealing her lines.
She probably could have dealt with the 2/3s Ceberus, given time, if Seven hadn't entered the fray himself. 2&1/2 against one?
Now, if you haven't seen Seven's punches, you don't know what a punch was. If Seven and Chuck Norris had a fistfight, it would be pretty darned close.

Considering the size of the craters Seven made, she didn't need telling twice that getting hit by him would be just as fatal as one of her own bullets. Dodging another potentially-deadly blow, Nine tried to bring back her knives, when all of a sudden, a horrible pain coursed through her system, paralyzing her for a moment and forcing her to her knees. No... Above, she saw Col in the Leader's box, standing up by the railing and by the way he was gripping it she wouldn't have been surprised if it snapped in a minute. He was still there?! That gave her fuel to go on. When she was done with Seven, Evie was going to go all the way.... She was going to smash Six, destroy Five, and then she'd pound him into the dust straight after! She narrowly avoided Seven's deathblow and jumped up, again armed.
Evie, weaving in and out of Seven's attacks, finally managed to slice him across the shoulder with one of her knives, and when she drew back her hand, spikes flicked out of her arm and cut into his, damaging his arm. He stumbled backwards, apparently shocked, when-
Carnivorous 2 swiped at her with a paw, knocking out her breath and sending her tumbling into the hard-packed earth. Considering the agony, several of her ribs were broken, but thankfully none of her organs seemed badly harmed... Bones were easily remedied. The fact that Seven had her in a choke hold wasn't.

Annabell's lunch started to do a flip flop in her stomach.
She quickly turned her head away from the screen, too sickened to watch any more.
'This is too much...I'm used to the killing, but that's for survival...I don't... I don't have to watch this. ' Annabell thought to herself, her head pounding from the battle.
She drew a shakey breath to steady herself, then turned her head down to stare at the table, hoping she didn't look too green.
'Maybe I should just turn in early, I'll hear about everything tomorrow...' the girl pondered to herself.

This was... It. It was over.

Evie refused, no matter how her instincts begged, to close her eyes at the end. She wanted to die like a warrior, like Vin had, staring down his killer to the last, until his heart stopped beating.

Vincent.
Ebony.
Ivory.
Col.
Team 13, a sunny day, A-B.
Two years ago.
Vin, scaling a large pillar, cast back a resigned look of amusement at the happy couple who -should- have set up the tents already. Back from her errand with extra to spare, Evie had swiftly relieved herself of some by dumping the contents of one bucket on their heads, utterly drenching them. Ebb and Evie giggled at the silly pout-y expression Col was wearing; it was true what they said, fire elements really didn't like being soaked. He tried to glower at Evie, but Col being Col, he found himself both physically and mentally off retaining the look as his face broke back into that infectious happy smile of his, just when Vin decided he wanted to join in too by toppling the huge heap of rock on them.

Vin... She never had fulfilled her promise of avenging his death.
Ebb... Funny how she'd wanted her gone, but after it happened Nine'd given anything to get her back.
Col... What had happened to him? He'd never been the same after... That's what she'd wanted more than anything. But world didn't go backwards, only kept slowly, inexorably crawling forward.

All it would take was a split second for Seven to break her neck, for her to die. She braced herself, shaking slightly in anticipation, expecting the fatal blow every instant.
But the strike didn't come. Instead, the air twisted with turbulence; Seven was shoved away from her and she was sent sprawling, pain shooting up her arm as it broke the fall, briefly incapacitating her as it triggered that -other- pain from earlier. What... Just happened?
Her vision, which had gone static with pain, fuzzed into focus for a moment. That wasn't...

Pigs would fly before Col willing submitted to the kind of torture he'd received after that escapade of his. Snowballs had better chance in hell than he had of surviving that treatment again.
And what he was about to do was much, much worse.

"Don't you DARE," Four snarled, black eyes burning with demonic flame as he lifted a helpless, squirming Seven off the ground by his throat with a single hand.
"D-dude... Chill....AX," Clay choked, horrified as the calm, nonchalant Col he'd known, respected, almost considered a friend showed his other side; handsome features turned cruel with hatred while his hand tightened around the other's throat.

Zach blinked, a bit shocked.
Seconds before, he'd gotten a feeling SOMETHING was going to happen in the battle, but he had figured that it was just going to be Nine's timely death.
Not...
Zach frowned disapprovingly at Col's actions.
Why did he save Evie? Surely he was going to get punished for this... And Evie was probably going to die sooner or later anyway, so why bothering risking his own life to help her?
He would think a Number would be smarter than that, but he could easily be wrong about that.

Seven thought of a piece of advise he'd been given before making a Leader. "Don't judge people from the surface. They say killing rips the soul apart. If that's true, theirs must be in shreds. No sane human being could become a Leader..." Of course, he'd then proved himself...
Loyally, Carnivorous2 charged at Seven's aggressor, only to explode into tiny pieces when Four simply touched him, all of which disintegrated into a fine black powder. The tables had definitely turned on Seven. The way in which Col was glaring, his eyes... Was he possessed? And right now, Four was the second strongest person at the base...
"Fool." Four's eyes slid across to focus on the new arrival; Two, casual as ever. "I knew this would happen. Always letting your emotions get in the way... Col."
Four only growled in reply, the sound more animal than human. Seven noted with unease the fire swirling around and licking his free hand.?He appeared to have been taken over by his power... No. This was what was so special about Four, not his ridiculous destructive power... It was his bond with his power. It was like a fusion, right now they were truly one.
"You are not going to do it," he told Four with absolute assurance. "You know if you attack in any way, I will kill you," he said it so sincerely, as if he was reassuring a child that he'd catch them if they fell off the swing.

Col didn't answer this, his eyes narrowed and flickered to Evie; staring at them, wide-eyed, breathing heavy and irregular. And if Four used his power, he'd kill Evie too. That was the thing about Col's power... He could never save anyone, only himself.
Clay knew this wasn't a very good time, but he was sort of dying. He managed to choke loud enough to bring himself to Two's attention.
"Drop him," he ordered.
Four's scowl deepened and he only tightened more, until Seven finally blacked out from lack of oxygen.
"Drop him," Spike repeated harshly, like he was talking to a dog, this time meeting with more success as Four's grip loosened and let his prey slump to the ground like a rag doll.
Two waited with apprehension; Four truly was a nuclear bomb, unpredictable and devastating when activated. His expression, however, did not relax as the flare in Four's eyes dimmed slightly, and Col ran directly over to Evie, ignoring Spike.
"Are you okay?" he murmured anxiously, taking her hand and checking the pulse. A shadow of worry flew across his face as she looked past him blankly, unresponsive. "Evie? Evie, what's wrong?"
"You are oh-so blind," Spike yawned, and he whipped around. "What?" he demanded, pale, or as much as his complexion allowed.
"Tragic, isn't it?" was the remark, cold and unfeeling as ice. "You save your friend just in time- to discover she's been wasting away, all this time, right before your eyes."

"W-what do you mean?" Even Col's voice was shaking.
"Think. Would I have let you interfere if it wasn't already too late? You know better than anyone, don't you, Four, how much damage that kind of power can do to one's body... Did you think you could detonate yourself over and over without it having any effect on you? Clearly not, with your restraint. But Nine here... Maybe if you'd shared that particular bit of information with her earlier, she wouldn't have over used, and she wouldn't be here, right now, dying. But don't let that weigh you down," he smirked.
Disgusted, and unable to decide who was worse, Two or himself, Col turned back to Evie, desperation alight in his eyes.
She blinked, stirring. "Why... Why did you..."
He shook his head. "Don't try to talk. Listen, Evie, I can save you, I can." He closed his eyes, preparing. Col knew what he had to do. He could give his life for hers. It was simple enough. He owed her this, after everything he'd done.
"No." Her voice rang out, clear as a bell, like a slap to the face. Then she softened again. "Col. You already have..."
"No, no, Evie..." He stared at her.
"You have to live for all of us now," she whispered, a slight smile touched her lips as she closed her eyes and died.

Without a second wasted, teleporters appeared and removed (or rushed, in the case of the first) both Clay, Evie, and on further instruction, Col, from the arena. Two turned to the cameras slowly. "The tournament will begin tomorrow. The list showing the order in which you will enter the Test can be found at the North Gate. For now; show's over."
The screens showed static for a few seconds, then died and dematerialized.

"So I'm being discharged now?" Raven asked the healer, lithely slipping off the bed but wincing as soon as she achieved vertical.
He shot her a sympathetic look but nodded. "Hey, isn't it Truce this month?" he inquired, a bit behind the times, while handing her a painkiller and a glass of water.
"Yes," she swallowed and drank quickly. "I wonder if anything's happened yet..." she sighed, seeing a teleporter waiting.
"Hey! Emergency! Quick, get this one to the ER!" Hurried shouts came from the entrance.
"Oh dear," he frowned. "Well... Hope to see you again soon," he smiled. That was the funny thing about this place. They could say that, because coming back meant you were still alive.

Zach continued to sit in the stands, waiting for the traffic to clear up around the exits before making his leave.
At least it gave him time to think, for the battle he witnessed certainly gave him plenty to think about.
...Well, the thinking time was cut short when he noticed somebody sliding onto the bench next to him.
"Great show, huh? WAAAYYY better than last year! I mean, I LOVE happy endings!"
Zach stole a glance at the girl with dark purple hair who'd made herself right at home next to him, propping her feet up on the seat in front of her, in a relaxed position.
"I mean, Jenna SAID something bad was going to happen, but I didn't really care. Truce battles can be seen as bad, right?" the girl giggled, and Zach questioned himself about the last time he ever heard someone ever speak with that euthuasaim in their voice. The pitch was almost making his ears bleed, and she WAS talking rather painfully loud.
"I bet Six got his eyebrows seared off up there!"
More giggling.
"Glad Jenna was right about leaving! My underlings are pretty epic...And I'm glad Spike-y interfered when he did, I bet Col would've incinerated the front row! That would've been cool...Well, extremely HOT, actually. WAIT! Not in THAT way!" Even more extremely loud giggling.
It was around that time Eight looked up, and realized that Zach had left somewhere between "Six" and "Eyebrows".
"That was rude!" the Number scowled, folding her arms across her chest.

Two watched the audience slowly leave, taking in every single face at lightning speed. One of these people... One of the people here was an enemy. And it was his job to find them.
Spike couldn't believe that someone had gotten in, AND remained undetected. It had to be something to do with that girl, Raven... But it couldn't have been her who had done it, as she was out on that mission... In fact, none of her behavior had been reported as suspicious at all, and they'd had two numbers on the mission...
His eyes narrowed. Col. Col had been in contact with... With Septa.
Speaking of choking the life out of things, Four had been pretty harsh on poor little Seven... He wondered what would happen if he hadn't recovered for his first fight. Two wasn't about to go flicking through the rulebook, and the only other option was asking Col, so...
Two just couldn't wait until the day was finally done. Too bad he couldn't speed up time...
He wondered vaguely what Eight was doing now.

On returning to base, Raven saw the increased security with a worried frown... That would just make her job harder. Her job...! With a startled cry, she checked her secret concealed pocket... Of course, the special and deadly vial she'd been given by her leader, was gone.

Zach soon found out he was glad he'd waited for everyone to clear out(Even if it did mean getting massive blood-related trama in his ears.), for the crowd at the North Gate was just clearing out as he appeared, looking for the list.
...
It seems he was going to be the thirteenth person to be enter the SIMs. Great.

"Hey! Zach!" Raven called in a cheerful tone across the corridor, waving at him.
"Suspect #1, spotted," she muttered to herself in an undertone. He was the one who'd suspected her (apart from the Leaders, presumably), and he'd near with her practically the entire mission.

Zach decided not to bother to glance over his shoulder, already knowing who it was.
The crowd seemed to be cthinning out even more, the hallway was almost back to it's usual emptiness. He pondered if he should question Raven about why she'd made that stupid move in the first place, for she didn't seem like the type to take on a Glaeroe alone... Ah, screw it. Zach figured he had more important things to keep his mind focused on.
Now, he'd heard rumors about the Test, but the rumors at IOD could easily be unrealiable, even though there was a bit of truth in them. Maybe he should ask around, to see what to expect... Then again, it could be different for everyone...
