The Queen watched silently as the inutes passed by, the hour uintil the party started shortened until it was only minutes away.
She smiled.
It was interesting how gullible these people were, thinking that she would openly appear before the crowds and show the entire city who her identity really was. No. She wouldn't be the hostess of her own party. Two of her servants would be. The messenger and the newest girl, the runaway royal.
She heard the people filing into the plaza as the opening music played...

Keeran decided to pick up his masquerade costume. He knew that as member of Spade family he had to lay low so he put on his hood. As he entered the costume storage he was amazed by the number of costumes and masks hanging around. He saw white beaked mask like those he saw in old books about Middle Ages. These were masks doctors wore in those times. He picked the mask up and put it on his face and gazed at the mirror. "Perfect.", he thought. He grabbed black cowl to go with it. He put on the cowl and took final look in the mirror. Satisfied he left the building and headed towards the party location.

Jackie stood behind the curtains of the balcony, watching as the first few people came. She smoothed out a wrinkle of her black and red silk dress and adjusted her porcelain white mask, slightly anxious of the situation she was in.
"Hey! You ready over there?" she called out to Mia

"Yeah." I glowered at her, which was wasted on her, as my mask hid it. I was used to crowds and stuff, so I wasn't anxious of that, more of being recognized.

Jackie felt a heavy cloud of pressure forming in the room. Who it was coming from, she didn't know.
She nodded and beckoned Mia to follow her down to the plaza.

Gracie followed the steady stream of people into the plaza. She was wearing a black ruffled dress with a white bow-tie at the waist line. Gracie silently thanked Tess for the money to buy this. And as usual, many people looked and praised her angel-blonde hair, for as nobody has ever seen. "I will be performing soon." Gracie mumbled.

The Queen of Spades watched from behind the curtain. No one would be able to see her from down in the plaza. She had many things planned out for the night, and they would not go away for days to come...

There were so many people gathered in the plaza. Many of them were staring at us, curious as to who we are.
I slipped Mia a card, an Ace of Spades. "Take it."
Without giing her a chance to complain, I climbed up to the stage where various musicians were already getting ready to perform.
"Welcome, residents of Calico, to the Queen of Spade's Masquerade Party. I, Jacqueline will be your hostess for tonight as well as my partner here" I motioned to Mia. "we will be holding various little events for everyone here, adults and children alike. Do not be afraid to talk to others, as this is the chance for all classes to mingle with each other..."

Sarah skipped down the streets singing "I'm Walking On Sunshine." She was pretty happy because she had her pale pink dress on , with a half purpleand pink mask. She then saw Gracie.

I took the card, it almost brought tears to my eyes. Same rank, wrong suit. But I smiled sweetly onstage and went along with what Jackie said.

A teenage boy in the crowd looked curiously at the girl standing beside the speaker. He drew in breath sharply. Could it be...?

Gracie turned around at the mentioning of her. "Sarah!" she said relieved. She stuffed Sarah's hands with music. "Would you suggest we start with Pink Panther or end with Pink Panther or in the middle?"

Keeran was walking through the crowd to place where other musicians gathered. Walking through the crowd with guitar case was not an easy task. He noticed girl with beautiful blonde hair and tapped her on her shoulder. "Hello. Umm.. excuse me can you tell me who is last performing? I'm supposed to perform after that person."

As I got off the stage, I noticed a movement from the corner of my eye. A boy staring at us
My eyes narrowed.
Mia was now the new Ace of Spades now and I was specificly now her bodyguard, orders from the Queen herself. This was not going to be good.

The Queen felt a prickle in the air. Something was going to go wrong with her plan. She didn't like it one bit. But this wouldn't deter her from the sole purpose of the Masquerade.

I inched away from Mia, allowing the crowd to push me slightly further and further away. From a distance, I decided, I would keep and eye on her and this entire party.
But oh would this party get interesting, unfortunately. Why couldn't the Queen do something normal for once. I grimaced.

A guy pushed through the crowd and asked me to dance. He had blonde hair, blue eyes and there was something about his posture or air that told me high rank. Was he familiar? I couldn't tell. But I had to accept, didn't I.

I slipped back inside the building to watch the entire party.
I looked around and noticed Mia dancing with the boy from earlier. Really? I took a closer look and raised an eyebrow. No... really? I couldn't hold back a smile. It was funny how things turn out, how she ended up dancing with -him- of all people.
I wonder if they'll make the vote for cutest couple in the Masquerade... I sniggered. Time to play with the voting system~

"Nice to meet you." Keeran smiled at the girl. "I play an electric guitar, explorer to be precise. Don't worry I can play softer tunes and it won't be as loud as you heard on the recordings.. My amplifier is not as strong." he explained. "what are you playing?"
