Pyra looked around. It looked like they were going to leave. Why? She brushed some short brown hair out of her face.
"You're leaving." She stated.

So short...

Margot continued to stare at them, a frown growing on her face as none of them made a move to leave. What on earth were they waiting for? Then she realized that they were possibly waiting for her to lead the way, and she let out an exasperated sigh.

"Less talking," she snapped in Ray's direction, setting off at a jog toward the river. With a quick flick of the switch, she deactivated her gloves--accidentally electrocuting herself in the river would be a shameful way to go.

The light was too poor to judge the depth of the water, so Margot met it feet first. The slow-moving body of water was deeper than she was tall, but by how much she couldn't tell. It carried the faint scent of sewage and rot. Some of Loki's men had probably been dumping waste into it. Choking back a gag, Margot sucked in a deep breath and pushed her face under the water once more, kicking and paddling toward the other side of the river. She listened carefully for the splashes of the others.

"Disgusting." Angel said aloud in a tone that could freeze fire. The second the word escaped her lips, she mentally cursed herself, hoping that no one had heard. She hesitated, staring at the filthy water with discontent eyes, then she slipped in the water after Margot. She swam through the water, with unusual skill, and got to the other side before anyone else. As she climbed out the water, she started muttering under her breath about how that must have been the worst thing she had ever done while she started trying to get water out of her clothing and hair.

One of them started off. She didn't follow. She still couldn't retreat into the small woods. If someone with Loki saw, the woods would no longer be safe. They would search it to find her, or burn it. Then she would only be safe in the rocky area, and all of the food will have been burned out. Searching it wouldn't be any better, it wouldn't be safe at all.
Those thoughts raced through Pyra's mind thousands of times. It was so oppressive in her mind, it almost raced out anything else.
She slunk into a small bush and hid.

Everything felt so much better, fell into place when Margot took the lead. He sighed too, a perfect imitation of the one she had released moments earlier, only the emotion was mingled not only with exasperation but with content. The content he'd explained, as for the exasperation... He was getting to that.
Had you ever noticed Margot's predominating expression? Ray had. MARGOT'S FACE WAS MOULDED INTO A PERMANENT FROWN. Frowny frowny frowny frown.
This was where the Chitauri Conspiracy theories would start streaming in.
Anyway, if Ray had done what he should have done the moment he had seen Stark's video diary; and that was immediately emulate it; he would now be able to rewind to any point in the immediate past and prove it; as it was, his plans for building some kind of camera, somehow, would have to wait.
Also, about the exasperation? He was also a little hurt. Less talking? But he LIVED for chatting! (Thought sarcastically). Or, well, coffee. He pouted slightly, suddenly distracted by longing for that hot beverage again. ANYWAY. Margot.

A guy with a smaller ego than Ray may have thought that Margot picked on him more than others. (Meaning, he definitely did think that). (A smarter guy than Ray may have pointed out that he could be incredibly obnoxious.) But he quickly regained his smile. (Being noticed was better than not... Right?)
After all, she had only said, LESS talk...
Ray hummed (he couldn't whistle) to himself as he judged carefully the distance to the other shore. He didn't really fancy going in... He'd been a star at the long jump, after all. He was a faster runner, of course, a light build, and a bit of real fear and adrenaline always lent the kick off more power.
Too bad he hadn't thought of a foot version of his glove-thing... Ah, well, there hadn't really been time.
As long as he got a good run up... He backed up a bit, smiling in anticipation.

(I don't recall you saying the width of the river... ^^" I'm just gonna pray it's not ordinarily jumpable but not so wide as Ray'd have to fly... Lol X3 )

Aykay snarled as they crossed to shore. What were these humans doing here?

-You know you are a human too, right?- said that voice in her head.

-I'm not human.- she told the voice. -They made that clear to me in prison.-

She watched them from her hiding place, high up above the humans. She wouldn't attack unless provoked, but perhaps she could unnerve them a little.

She began to sing THAT song. The only song she could remember from before her imprisonment. The voice it her head joined in as usual in a silent harmony. It was a creepy sound, but then again, that's what she was going for this time.

Name: Ezra P'poince
Gender: Female
Age: 539 (looks to be 17)
Powers/Armor/Suit(?): Her special abilities as a siren. The voice she possesses is her greatest weapon. With it, she has the power to hypnotise any living thing and bring it under her control. Her keen senses allow her to locate anyone she desires and track him or her down. Aside from these powers, she also has another ability, thanks to which, she is granted imortality and eternal beauty.
Side(Loki's or Avengers): Loki
Personality: Arrogant and forever selfish, Ezra always acts as if she is better than others around her. Seemingly always has some embarassing gossip on everyone. Knowing the bare truth is her biggest ace, because she always finds a way to get people talking. One way or another, she always receives what she wants. Her greatest weakness is her dignity. She lives to be seen and admired by others. When angered, she always makes a scene and in the end, always manages to prove herself right. Logical thinking and leader skills are a given for her and she is not the one for rwndom adventures. To most people, she seems insulting and evil, which is not far from the truth. Around a likeable young man, though, she acts like an angel. Kind and shy, she pretends to be a harmless Sweetheart. Her seductive and flirtatious side kicks in and she seeks to charm every man around her.

Deleted • 16 July 2012 at 9:57 AM

Appearance: Average heigh (maybe a little short). Slightly tanned skin and silvery blue eyes. Golden wavy hair cascades down her shoulders to the middle of her waist. A small tattoo of a creamy seashell, surrounded by waves is on her shoulder. Either a smirk, or an arrogant expression is always plastered to her face.
History: Born to live the life of a siren, Ezra stayed in the depths of the sea, until Loki's rule took it's toll. The siren was caught by a Chitauri ship and brought back to the palace to be shown to Loki. Seeing as her abilities could help his reign, the Emperor kept her as a servant. After a good while among the Chitauri and other monsters that roam the castle. Ezra has become used to the closed up life and has come to terms about serving Loki. One of the people she is content with socializing with is the Princess - Sylvia and her servant - Andrew.
Other(?): She swims at least twice a day. Without water, she cannot survive. Without water, she cannot breathe or live.

*Contrary to some of your beliefs, Sirens do NOT have mermaid tails, kay? ;D

Margot emerged on the other side of the river, gasping and sputtering in disgust. She clawed her way up the muddy bank, spattering her wet pants and wrists with muck, before she stood upright on the grass. The newest girl had made it before her, but the rest of the crowd had yet to follow. She wiped her muddy hands against the grass before wringing out her hair, staring at the group fiercely. The Chitauri were bound to show up any second. "Let's move it!" she barked. Ray, she noticed, hadn't taken a single step into the water. He HAD moved a good ways in the opposite direction, and she noted a shallow smile on his face. He's probably trying to find a way out of swimming, Margot thought with a roll of her eyes. Evading hard work seemed perfectly in character.

From close by, a haunting song drifted into earshot. It wasn't the song itself that concerned Margot (she caught something about a silly bird), but the singer--who they were, where they were, and what they hoped to accomplish. Typically anyone mentally unstable enough to make their presence known by singing was allied with Loki, or under the influence of some illegal substance. Margot unabashedly hoped they would be the latter. -c

"Show yourself," she ordered gruffly, looking around for the singer while she switched on her gloves. Her goggles caught a live figure far up in the trees, much too big to be any kind of bird or raccoon. They were well-hidden enough that she wouldn't have been able to spot them without the thermal reading.

Aykay looked down at them. Probably one of the gifted ones.

-Make yourself known, or they might attack.- said the voice.

She ignored the voice. She was hidden well up here.

Frost took off her shoes and put them in her backpack. There was no use swimming with them; they'll only drag her down, she thought. She heard that creepy mind control girl complain. She said in general, since the others weren't crossing, " If you guys are too chicken of dirty water, go ahead. You can wait for Loki's minions to pick you up." With that, she dove in. It had a really putrid smell, maybe sewage? but she kept on swimming.

When she got on to the other side, there was something up in the trees. Frost took out her bow again, and ignoring the people on the other side of the shore, she said,"Are you a fugitive?"

Frost took half a step back. A white patch of fur leaped down. Huh, she thought. Frost swore it was a human. Although it was big, it was only the size of a large deer she had once seen in the woods...but it was big. She slowly morphed her bow into a sword, because she thought it would be useful. What if...this white tiger was actually that person? she thought doubtfully. After all, there weren't many white tigers here, if any at all. She locked her gaze with those feline eyes and said, "Shouldn't we be able to communicate with each other at least? There are no white tigers here."

A good five minutes of staring at the deep water from afar did not cause it to disappear, so, at the end, Aizel finally got herself to take a few steps further and enter the river. Water and mud filled her sneakers immediatelly, but she continued her treck as a distant mechanicall screech reached her ears. Seeing as she was the only one who had not yet crossed to the shore, the others must have not heard it. They were simply too far ahead and probably too engrossed into the newcome danger to pay attention.

Trotting further into the river, Aizel found her feet getting stuck in the mud and slowing her down. After a few trips and falls and a quick dive, she was out onto the other shore. Wet ebony strands of hair clung to her reddened face. Her clothes hung from her thin frame like rags and she'd lost one of her sneakers. Darting up hill, she gave out a few wheezes before reaching the top. "We have to go! Quickly! They're coming!" she called out urgently to the survivors, voice - surprisingly calm and collected. The first few mechanical barks echoed across the clearing, and she was sure that now, everyone must've heard them.

Deleted • 16 July 2012 at 8:27 PM

Trotting past Margot, Aizel brushed her shoulder. The girl seemed busy tracking an unknown source of a song. "What are you waiting for?" she fixed her with an amused gaze. She knew not why Margot was troubling herself with some singer who was hiding who knows where. That same singer provided a distraction for the Chitauri, a good chance for them to escape. So why bother oneself with it?

Her head snapped up, but she still continued ahead, while listening to the song. It sounded somewhat familiar, but she brushed the deja-vu feeling off. Her mind was too busy racing to take strolls down memory lane. As soon as it happened, she jumped back in surprise. A magnificent white tiger emerged from the tree leaves and jumped down, landing gracefully. She looked back at the Chitauri and chose to hurry ahead, instead of looking at the creature.

Fang was one of the last to reach the other side, and when he climbed out of the water, he was both wet, and miserable. He stormed after everyone else, an scowl planted in his face. It was obvious that he disliked swimming in the dirty river more than the rest of the other people. Fang shot a cold glare at anyone that was near him, and that included Ray.

"No?" Frost replied, her eyes still fixed on the tiger. "How about a truce?" she changed her sword back into a clip again, and she put it in her hair. Her dress was soggy and her wound was acting up again, but Frost ignored it. To Margot, and Aizel, who had just crossed over, she said quietly, "Put your weapons away," without ever leaving her eyes off the tiger. "How about now?"she said quietly, while ignoring Fang's glare. Frost would have shot an icy glare back, except that she was negotiating right now.

Aykay wasn't sure. She didn't know that word, but her voice intonations seemed to imply that the word meant something dangerous. It probably was the machines. She nodded and mimicked their noise. It was one of the only things she had enjoyed doing in the prison, copying the machines' difficult sound.

Ray started jogging, slowly at first. He'd put plenty of distance between himself and the river, so he had time and distance to ease into the speed. He had always found that going from a standstill to full sprint made him sick in the stomach. Or maybe that had something to do with drinking coffee beforehand, which contained milk.
And then he was flying. Forget aeroplanes. The cracked, dirty and mossy paving beneath Ray's feet blurred until it became one identical stretch of simple grey. He wouldn't have been able to tell when the jump came, if he hadn't been smart enough to count the steps it took.
The wind whistled past his ears, growing steadily louder as he gained speed, impossible though it seemed. At one point, he thought he heard some kind of metallic... Screech? He itched to look back, see if he could catch a glimpse... He closed his eyes as he got too fast to keep them open. Ray knew he couldn't hesitate, or else it would be painful... And then Margot'd kill him for slowing them down.
3,2,1...
After a few scary seconds of thin air, he landed, careful to roll from his shoulder like he'd been taught as he met the ground. He finished in a half-crouch and quickly straightened, looking around guiltily and half-hoping no-one had really seen his aerobatics. Clearly he'd overestimated the gap, as he was standing... Well... He took a few inconspicuous steps backwards so that he was standing beside Margot. (On the other side, not Aizel's).

"The machines are singing." Aykay repeated, transforming suddenly back into a tiger.

She took a defensive stance and growled loudly. She could hear the machines, much closer this time. She could smell them.

-You should run. There no shame in that.- said the voice.

-They are too dangerous.- she told the voice. -they will hurt others, so we must defeat them.-

She had no human voice in her tiger form, so she made machine noises with her tiger throat, which was much more difficult to do, and waved her shaggy head towards where the machines were singing.

Had Margot been the owner of a gun or a bow, she would have shot the tiger the second it emerged from the trees. There wasn't a single good reason for a rare jungle cat to be roaming the early morning streets of Manhattan--Loki had terminated all zoos a long time ago. Whatever this thing was, it was probably immensely dangerous, and if Margot couldn't reason with it then killing it was the next best option.

Slowly but surely, the rest of the team joined her on the other side of the river. Frost swam without much complaining, and Ray reached the other end with a rather theatrical jump. Part of her was impressed, as she didn't believe she had ever seen anyone jump that far before. The other part of her was frustrated that he couldn't just swim like everybody else. Aizel eventually paddled over to meet them, followed by a disgruntled-looking Fang. She noted that they were missing Aaron. If he was stuck in the water, she didn't have time to go back in for him. If he had abandoned them completely, she was fairly sure the Chitauri would make quick work of them. If he was just hiding, well, he could catch up with them later on. She felt a pang of guilt at this abandonment but quickly tossed it aside.

Both Aizel and the tiger freak were warning that the Chitauri were hot on their trail. Cat-girl was doing a startlingly good impression of their mechanical shrieks--Margot had not a single thing to say to that. All she could do was urge the group on. "Quickly," she demanded in a quiet yet authoritative tone. "You can come if you can keep up," she added in a slightly grumbling tone. She didn't trust this creature any further than she could throw it, but she needed Frost's cooperation at this point.

With the orders given, Margot dashed off into the jungle of crumbling buildings, glancing over her shoulder periodically to make sure they were following.

Aykay stood her ground. She was going to fight off the machines. She would catch up with the others later. She let out a challenging roar, daring the creatures closer.

Her ears picked up the sound of six machines. This would be a challenge. She hadn't faced six before. Not without help anyhow.

-You should just follow the others. There's no use risking your life.- the voice pleaded.

Aykay shook her head. No running anymore. Besides, she didn't trust the one giving orders.
