Camilla scoffed at Aykay's behavior. "You used to work with Loki." She pointed accusingly. "Only those that work with him can understand the chitauri language." Camilla turned on the chitauri, which was currently trying to stamp out the fire. The blonde walked over to the alien, shoving herself right into it's face. She used her gloved hand to push the chitauri at the shoulder level.

"I can kill you with my bare hands." She whispered threateningly.

Taku angrily gestured at the fire, trying to explain himself to her.

"He says he only found us because of the fire." Explained Aykay. "I can't believe I overlooked that..."

She lay back up against a tree, trying to collect her thoughts.

"Yes I worked for Loki." She answered Camilla. "You would have too if you were raised that way."

Ethan... That idiot... He shouldn't have come back...

Camilla threw her arms up in frustration before lowering them. The blonde girl began to pace back and forth. Back and Forth. Back and Forth. She continued doing this until she grew sick and tired of doing so. The girl sat down at the edge of the clearing before pointing a gloved finger at the chitauri.

"You better stay away from me.", she said. "If you get to close, I might have an arm spasm and accidentally kill you."

Taku made a laughing noise at the girl's threat. Aykay rolled her eyes. The girl was nuts if she thought that she could take down a chitauri...

Aykay stood up and looked back towards the slave residences. She recognized this area. It was far away from her old home, but she had been here once on a visit to the palace for some sort of event... probably Ethan's promotion to captain...

She figured that she could remember her way to the palace...It couldn't be too difficult... it was getting there without getting caught.

She knew it was a trap, but what choice did she have? Sylvia had found the only thing that beat her fear of getting caught... she owed her brother for saving her life...

That idiot...

Camilla was beyond angry but she kept it in check. She made a mental note to kill it before it lays eggs. "We should camp here for the night. It's getting dark.", The blonde said. "We should stay put and wait for the others in this group."

@bunnyshadow Kay. 😸
@meixiaotian @silver_winged that's all except the super-inactive individuals

Aykay nodded vaguely. She was already making plans, and unfortunately they did not involve sleep...

"Taku, you should get back to the palace. Keep an eye on what's going on there." she told him. Taku nodded and disappeared into the trees.

She made note of which way he went. So she was right... The palace was East of here... she could sneak away when the others fell asleep...

"I'll stay up and keep watch." she volunteered.

Ethan looked up at Sylvia.

"Your highness, I know that I am in no position to make requests, but..." he hesitated, not sure that he wanted to ask, but he had to try... "Please don't hurt Autumn."

Sylvia froze in position for a split second before several thoughts formed in her head. The first was to ignore Ethan's request. He was asking her not to harm a rebel after all. The second was to punish the human for his insolence. She considered both options before settling for a third one.

"I will not kill her.", Sylvia said blankly. She paused, before continuing. "But I will harm her if she harms any Chitauri, human, Aesir or creature within loyalist territory."

Ethan nodded. "That's all I can ask, milady."

He closed his eyes.He hoped that Aykay wouldn't do anything dumb... but that was asking for a lot... She was so reckless all of the time... She had so little regard for her own safety...

It really was no wonder his mother had asked him to look after her...

Grateful though Ray was for the timely interruption, he did not welcome the presence of any of the newcomers. He wasn't quite stupid enough to throw his trust at any stranger out of the blue, and Aaron; well, he just didn't like Wonderboy. This wasn't because he was jealous or anything...
The others weren't the only things he was finding bothersome at the moment, however. As the day grew later, and the sky darker, Ray found himself more and more awake. He'd always been a bit of a night owl, finding that he worked much better at dark, coffee or no. But with no such work to speak of, it really was a bother.
His hands wouldn't stop fidgeting. It didn't matter what Ray did, his fingers were always moving. Running along his gauntlet's tiny metal scales, clicking themselves together softly, tapping on a beat against his side, or in his hair, heck, even if he stuck them in his pockets, Ray could feel them start to subconsciously trace the grain of the weave. This wasn't really anything new for the boy, but it grew more pronounced with his heightened state of awareness, awakeness, boredom, and also agitation.
However, trait which hadn't been present, or at least particularly noticeable before, now surfaced. His eyes also twitched, as if now even his gaze couldn't sit still, darting from place to place. He'd have slowly been staring out at the factories, then they'd flicker and shift in an instant to the forest floor. If it was possible, he seemed more hyperactive than ever, despite the irrefutable absence of caffeine in his system. For a moment his gaze rested quietly on Aykay, and he drew a deep breath through his mouth, trying to still himself.
"You've got to be kidding yourself if you think I can sleep like this," he whispered to Aykay, slanting an eyebrow.
Then his eyes flickered suddenly to the left, and Ray shook his head in annoyance, as if warding off flies. It had been far too long since he'd last had coffee.

Aykay's gaze darkened at Ray's response. If he was staying up, it would be more difficult to sneak off... If it came down to it, would she fight him if he got in her way?

No. She'd have to be an idiot to fight Ray. He was hardly a straight-thinking warrior, but that gauntlet was far beyond even her tiger strength... No. She would just have to make up some excuse...

"Fine. Stay up if you want. I don't mind having someone else stay up too. But don't whine that you're tired later..."

She took a second glance around to make sure she knew where she was going. She could always take the long way through the trees...

"You all can decide for yourselves what you do. I'm going this way... To look for trouble."

She transformed and ran off, hopefully before anyone would even think to follow her.

Feeling a little bit better after that mental sorting, Frost focused towards the others. Ray and Aykay were bickering about sleep or something.

Seriously....They were pretty immature. Sure, there was the whole paranoia about traitors, betrayals, and all THAT, and there was hunger, stress, shock, and the other jumble of emotions Frost just loved to deal with, but everyone could just zip it and be at peace, right?

Nevermind. Who was she kidding? They all were sleep-deprived teens who had gone through so much in one night--so much that it might have been traumatizing in many cases.

She glanced at the scene. Aykay was gone. Should she...?

No. Aykay probably needed some alone time. After the confrontation with that annoying brother of hers...Frost decided that she'll give sometime. If it took too long, then she'll go after her.

Mind set, she sat down and leaned against a tree, closing her eyes. The lull of the night started to drag her to sleep.

Loki went outside and teleported himself to a street nearby the STARK Towers. He made himself invisible by simply refracting light around him to duplicate the background behind him at any angle. Strolling down the street, he observed the world he now controlled. Loki wanted to see how the Chitauri were doing under his command and if he could find the rebels.

Aaron tried to stop Aykay with a bit of underdone meat, but obviously it didn't work. "Seriously?!? People do have to eat at some point. Especially me. But even you caught this... thing, Aykay!" He shook his head and sighed exasperatedly. "Just because we're rebels and just because we're living in the forest DOES NOT MEAN that we can skip out on vitamins and protein and drinking 8 cups of water every day!!" He ranted, fiercely eating meat.

~*~

Andrew walked outside the towers and quickly organized some spare Chitauri. He talked quickly in their alien language, telling them to track down the rebels, find out their situation, and possibly how they keep evading capture. Since Sylvia hasnt been around for a while, Andrew figured he might as well take her charge. Being a man and a robot, the Chitauri were easier with him then they ever were with Sylvia. They made suggestions and Andrew took them in, sometimes incorporating them into his plans. Before sending them off, Andrew told them in alien language, "Bring me all dishonest Chitauri." He offered no award or possibility of redemption, which was uncommon for Sylvia. They went, tracking from where the rebels were last. It wasn't hard, for Pyra had lost a lot of blood.

In the back of his head, he kept worrying about Sylvia. He knew Loki would understand as this wasn't her first flight, but for this long? Never.

Aykay ignored Aaron. She kept running, trying to clear her thoughts.

Being a tiger was simple. Run. Hunt. Eat. Sleep. The most complicated it ever got for the tiger was defending territory, but she was the biggest thing here. Nothing dared defy her.

Human Aykay's life was more complicated than that. Run for her life. Hide in the woods. There was family back home who were disappointed. There were people here who didn't trust her - and perhaps they were right not to. Wherever she went, she was a traitor and a freak.

What if the rebels won? She would be a reminder of Loki. She was one of his science projects. A weapon. Sure, some would see her as a victim, but others would know the truth of what she had done before she'd run away.

And if Loki won? That was perhaps worse. She would have nowhere to run then. Nowhere to escape the torment that had almost broken her the first time around...

She was on the forest's edge now. The point of no return. It was a trap. She knew it was a trap. But her brother...

She stepped out into the slave residences. She had to do this. No turning back.

Pyra awoke to Aaron's sudden yells. Her first thought was that it was a chime that she woke up. She didn't exactly remember what it was, but she had been enjoying a sweet dream. Her eyes cautiously opened to see someone she didn't know, and some people she recognized. Some were sleeping, some weren't. The peace of her dream had enough of an effect to stop her from panicking because of the new surroundings and the unknown person. She figured that if her allies were okay with them, she would be okay too.

She closed her eyes and remembered what had happened. She had been fighting off chitauri in the tower, to cause a distraction, and then got a knife lodged in her chest. Yup. Easily remembered, for some reason. So how did she get healed? She faintly remembered the guy who was loud being able to heal. Okay then...

Everyone seemed to be asleep, and it was dark out, from her earlier glance. Unfortunately, she wasn't tired, so she couldn't fall asleep yet. That was a okay, not everyone was asleep, but it would be better if she was on a normal sleep schedule.

Creeping through the familiar streets, Aykay shuddered. She was avoiding thinking about what she was doing now, but in forgetting, she was leaving room for other thoughts to sink in.

She knew that burnt-out shack. She'd raided it early on in her rebel-hunting career. A group of factory workers had started up a black market, distributing stolen food and firearms...

And that food station, now closed for the night, was where she'd been sent to spy on one of the food station workers. He'd been under suspicion of hiding rebels in his food storage. Her reports had lead to his arrest...

Place after place brought back the guilt she'd shoved aside for the sake of survival. She had become a rebel to atone for what she'd done. Or maybe it was just out of sheer anger because she'd realized she was being lied to... either way.

A young girl walked outside, presumably to go to the public washrooms. She took one look at the tiger walking past her house and ran back in, screaming. Dim lights appeared in windows of adjacent houses. She saw silhouettes of men rushing to windows to see what was happening and then shouts of anger...

A pang of fear jolted Aykay. She'd been so concerned about what Sylvia would do to her that she hadn't stopped to think what the slaves on the way might do...

Tigers weren't exactly natural in this area. Even the ones in the zoo were gone, used in experiments or eaten by chitauri... It was pretty well-known in this area that there were two rebel hunters that could transform into tigers. It had been announced publicly to discourage rebellion here, since the region around the palace was prone to many rebel attacks. As far as these people knew, she was the enemy.

She heard a gunshot and bolted. Firearms were prohibited, but that didn't stop a lot of people from hiding them in their homes. She couldn't really blame them...

A sudden pain in her left shoulder almost sent her face-first into the ground. At least her training as a rebel hunter taught her one thing: if your life is in danger, keep running through the pain. Stopping to nurse the wound was not worth dying over.

She could see the palace now over the ruined buildings. If she could make it close enough, most of the pursuing slaves would fall back in fear of getting caught...

Back to that distant elsewhere... It was just under five minutes since he'd sent the summons that a woman rushed into the room. She paused a second inside the threshold, her eyes sweeping automatically over the familiar surroundings, like she was trained. Which, of course, she was.
Rows of computers and their swiveling chairs, screens lining the walls, the large centerpiece of a U-shaped desk in the middle of the room. It was all very professional, except for the one large photograph at the back; a somewhat surreal scene of an ordinary family out at a park for a picnic. There were two children, a boy and a girl, aged in their early teens. The father in the picture was, of course, the man in front of her. The mother was herself.
Seeing nothing out of place, she turned to her husband, a curious smile on her face. It looked warm, and though she was now in her late thirties, even childlike in its simplicity... But he saw the strain hidden there. It had been four years since he had last seen her truly carefree. The man knew exactly what it was weighing so heavily on her mind.
"An emergency, you said," she accused, playful as ever.
"Don't use that false accent," he sighed slightly while he berated her. "You know how much it annoys me..."
She crossed her arms. "Mm-hm. So, what is it?"
Might as well just spit it out. "It's Rayner," he said stiffly. "There is no doubt."
She stared, not trusting her ears, eyes widening. "You mean... Sunny? My... Sunshine..."

??? > *R*

"Huh? Aykay..." He stared after her a moment, not understanding, then...
Ray suddenly sneezed. Perhaps someone, somewhere, was talking about him... Huh. Not likely, he thought. He wasn't all that famous. Could probably count the people who knew his name on his fingers. Ray tried it out; one, two, three... Then with a jolt, he remembered Aykay. Why exactly was he letting her go off on her own? Looking for trouble... If he didn't follow, the number might grow even smaller. She was already gone, but...
Ray was a fast runner. He could catch her up.
He did, but he wasn't expecting to be greeted by a hail of bullets. Even though he didn't see them coming, with his speed, there was a reason they missed, the closest any got was tearing his sleeve. But Aykay, it didn't look like she was as lucky; Ray was too far away to do anything, could only watch her stumble...
Still, she kept running, and he managed to keep his mouth shut and just follow, flitting from shadow to shadow and so avoiding the slaves' attentions.

*R* > ???

He twitched slightly, finding the nickname distasteful, though he wouldn't say so. It was rather appropriate though; the sun was, after all, a ball of flames. Apt, considering the manner in which the kid had run away from home.
"How do you know?" she asked, cautious, hardly daring to hope.
Turning back to the computer screen, he explained flatly; "He broke into the network in mere seconds. Who else would have both the knowledge, skill, and speed to pull that off? Then I searched his file and sure enough; it had been deleted. He may as well have signed his name on the dotted line," he rolled his eyes.
Of course, sabotage of the system meant nothing to her. "Then where is he? Where's my Ray?" the woman, Ray's adopted mother, demanded fiercely.
Tiredly, he told her, "New York."
She fell silent for a moment, taking that in. Knowing all to well who else was in New York. "What is he doing there?" she asked slowly, almost fearful.
"You remember what happened to him, Danielle. And you remember what he was like," his tone was cold, and she knew he didn't think her blameless. When she'd discovered her adopted son's total idolization of the man formerly a part of the Avengers, the group which had been their Emperor's greatest opposition, she'd done everything she could to end it. She'd burned everything she could find in the house with even the slightest connotation imaginable to Stark. She'd had his training regimen near doubled, hoping it would leave him too busy for any distractions. There was no way she could have predicted the kidnapping... But she ought to have prevented Ray's ever having admiration for Stark. If she'd just given him a firmer education, maybe...
Well. She'd taken no chances with Claus or Raine. She smiled sadly at the photograph. "So Sunny's been recruited by rebels... What should we do?" she whispered.
He shrugged, and reminded her; "He's in New York."
Her hand flew over her mouth, and she breathed in horror; "Oh, no..."
Shooting her a strange look, the man said; "Danielle... Do you have any idea how dangerous that boy is?"
Danielle blinked, her eyes were slightly wet. "I... Yes..." she murmured.
"The best case scenario is he dies," he muttered. "But let's face it; that isn't very likely..."
Managing a smile, Ray's adoptive mother reassured herself; "Sunny will be alright."
Her husband growled in exasperation. "That's not what you should be worried about. We have to do something about him, before he really messes something up... After all, he's our responsibility."
"Like what?" she frowned, only now remembering her duties.
He didn't answer, just slowly slid his gaze upwards to the single window, a skylight high above, with an undiluted look of the clouds.

Aykay turned a corner and quickly transformed into her human self. She sat down against the wall and lowered her head. She leaned back so that the bullet wound wouldn't show in the dark.

The slaves ran past her, most of them not even glancing her way. A couple of them took a quick look, but seemed disinterested. One of them approached her.

"Are you alright, miss?"

Aykay nodded, trying not to show how much pain she was in.

"A tiger just ran past and frightened me." she said, her voice shaking a little from the pain, but that could easily pass as fear. "I'm just to regain my composure, then I'm going to go home."

The man nodded knowingly and continued on with the group.

"Don't stay out too long. These streets are dangerous at night." he advised.

She nodded and he was gone.

When she was alone again, she felt her shoulder and flinched at the pain. It was bad... but not the worst thing she'd suffered... It was right above the scar from that rebel woman... That one had been far more painful.

But that didn't matter. She needed help...

Ugh, he'd lost her! The gunfire had stopped and the slaves, disappeared... Had Aykay maybe got knowledge of his following and blended into the crowd to so lose him? Ray had no idea what she was planning on doing by running away, so who knew what her reaction would be on finding out. That option was entirely possible. Whatever her intent, he couldn't believe it to be traitorous. 'Looking for trouble...', she'd said? Ray really hoped it wasn't something truly stupid... They'd already done enough today, hadn't they? Breaking into a high secruity prison was basically the definition of recklessness, now that he really thought about it...
Ray scanned the streets, craning his neck and squinting his eyes in frustration, trying to get a good look around over the buildings.
Someone should have warned him about them roofing tiles.
After years of sitting around in disrepair, they'd grown treacherous and rather prone to... Well. There was a crunching, cracking sound underneath Ray's feet and he glanced down, for once too slow as the tiles broke and slipped and he, he... He fell off the roof.
Oof!
Luckily, he hadn't been foolish enough to climb very high, and his landing didn't actually manage to break anything as he belly-flopped hard onto the dirt; as it happens, right in front of where Aykay was sitting...
"Oww oww oww oww owww," he groaned, sucking in a pained breath and feeling the bruises already starting to form as he flailed to push himself up to a sitting position.

Aykay was wondering what she should do next when something fell in front of her. Instinctively, she reached for a non-existent gun at her belt. Old habits die hard, but it was probably for the best that she was unarmed - she'd left the gun Ethan had given her back at camp - because it was...

"Ray..." She said, trying to hide the pain in her voice, then stated the obvious, "You were following me."

She had to admit, she was impressed. How had he kept up with her in her tiger form? Clearly she had underestimated him, but he kind if made it easy to with his nonsense rambling and distractedness.

He did a double-take, not having realized her presence until she spoke. "Oh, hello there Oakley!" Ray returned a greeting somewhat breathlessly, considering he's just had it all knocked out of him. "Did you also fall from the roof? I certainly wasn't aware, or else I definitely wouldn't have followed! You know, you could have warned me about those tiles, someone could have got seriously injured," he berated Aykay lightly, then frowned. "I never knew roofs could be so dangerous. So is that why mothers encourage children to practice, so that they're experienced for times like this? Anyway, Ackleby, what exactly are you doing?" he stared across at her, wide eyed. It looked to Ray like she was... Sitting. He gave a small laugh upon working it out. "Hah, I know forests aren't always the most comfortable places, but you really shouldn't have had to go so far just for a seat. Was it the bugs? I always get that same creepy crawly sensation all over my skin!! It can be really hard to relax when you have the urge to slap yourself every ten seconds, yeah. But you know, there are also lots of insects in the city too, or anywhere really, it's just that you don't see them as much, so, I guess the key is not paying attention to things around you? Whatever you do, don't coat yourself in maple syrup... Mm, but right now, it's probably a better idea to stay alert, it's getting late and I think some of the people around here have guns!" Ray shook his head in disappointment. "This is a really bad place to relax. Your logic skills are some kind of terrible, you'll never manage it here, Carray!"

Aykay might have punched him if her arm was working properly, but as it was, she couldn't move it without a stabbing pain shooting through her arm.

"Yeah, I know they have guns." She said, moving her hand so he could see. "The tiger form takes pain better, but it attracts too much attention... I had to rest. Why were you following me?"

She looked down at her shoulder. Why couldn't Aaron have followed her? At least he knew how to make himself useful.

As the building crumbled, and bits of rotting steel fell from the cracks, Fang pushed his one free hand against the wall before beginning to ghost through it. He cursed as he looked down at the little girl clinging to his arm and the silent cat perched on his shoulder. The dark haired boy looked down the hallway, that seemed to stretch on forever, before returning his gaze to the cracking wall.

The substructures were beginning to falter at a fast pace, as was his resolve for escape. Exiting bodily through a wall was not an option now that he had two more dead weights to deal with, and, considering his bleeding side and right shoulder, running would be done at a slower than needed pace.

Maybe he should've just run when the chitauri had attacked him instead of rushing head-first into battle, and maybe he shouldn't have intervened when the white-haired girl had emerged from seemingly nowhere (though he guessed she'd followed them through the tunnels) and gotten herself on the chitauris' radar. But then again, he guessed he didn't have the pride for one and the heart for the other...

Fang would figure something out.

He always did.

Aykay stood up and stumbled a bit as she moved forward.

"I have somewhere to be." She told Ray, heading towards the palace. "If you know what's good for you, you'll go back with the others and let me deal with my own problems."

She was starting to feel dizzy. At this rate, she wouldn't make it to the palace and goodness knows what woud happen to Ethan, that idiot. Why had Ray followed her? Things were bad enough as it was...

But there was this feeling of guilt. She had fought alongside these people, gotten to know them to some degree... And now she was leaving without any explanation? She owed them at least that...

She turned back to Ray. She hadn't gotten very far.

"Look, I'm going to the palace." she told him. "They arrested my idiot brother and I'm going to go see what I can do to get him out. I'll try and get back to you guys, but I don't know if that will be a possibility."

@nightmare
Ethan looked up as Taku handed a plate of food through the bars.

"She's coming, isn't she?" He asked, grabbing a piece of old bread and chewing on it. "That idiot."

Taku answered his question, confirming Ethan's worry.

"Sylvia promised not to kill her, but if she tries to fight her way in, she won't stop them from hurting her." He said. "And I don't trust her to go quietly."

Taku made a laughing noise. He knew as well as Ethan that Aykay was prone to rushing into things when she wasn't under orders.

"I'm worried about her." He admitted.

"You're... You're wounded? Aykay, you got shot?!" he shouted, finally having noticed her shoulder. Ray was so shocked he even forgot to get her name wrong.
"D-d-did it go t-through, or is the bullet still in there...? Oh my god oh my god oh my god, what should I do, what should I do?" Ray promptly started to panic, pacing and muttering wildly and tearing his hands through his hair with an look like he was going to lose it. Any casual observer would have guessed that he was the one in pain. After remembering to breathe again, he said, still speaking very quickly; "Isn't that what they say? You have to apply pressure! Aykay, you are definitely in no state to go waltzing in on the emperor's house! You just got shot!" At rapid speed, he repeated that last sentence several times under his breath, with differing emphasis, as if trying to drill it into his head.
He remembered a silhouette. Seemingly a child, a girl, who could brush off gunfire like it was nothing. If Loki had someone like that, where did they stand, when they could be so easily injured by those who were their natural allies, slaves?
Ray stopped, shook his head, murmured a blank, "Oh my god," to himself once more, then exclaimed rather suddenly, "Don't you dare die on me, okay!!"

Aykay was suprised by his panic. She didn't really know what to expect, but it wasn't that.

"Keep it down." she said, looking around to make sure no one had heard. "I'm applying pressure. I've been shot before, I know what to do."

She looked up at the palace. How much time did Ethan have left?

"I have to go help my brother if I can.As soon as I get to the palace, I can transform and it won't be as bad." She said. She hoped she could get that far... "No, this is not the ideal situation, but it's not like I can blame those slaves. They thought I was still... well... I've done a lot of terrible things here."

She turned from the palace to the slave residences. The difference was huge.

"I used to think I was underprivileged. Y'know, because I wasn't from one of the super rich families... But now I see that this is way worse than what I had." she then remembered something. "But you would know all about that, wouldn't you. You did a pretty convincing act back there, pretending to be a noble to throw off Ethan, except that I don't buy that it was an act at all. You were a little to eloquent to just be a slave pretending to be a noble. I went to a lot of fancy parties... as a guard, I guess... and I know how they talk, and that was dead accurate."

She leaned on a nearby building for support so she could clear her head.

Sylvia brushed a nonexistent piece of dust off her shoulder as she closed her book over her hand. She looked out the large window, and noticed that the sky was getting dark. "Darkness." she whispered. Her slender fingers placed a bookmark where her hand held the page before she let the book close. The emerald eyed individual stood and walked over to a shelf before placing the book in it's designated spot. "It's almost time." Sylvia muttered with a stiff smile.

Ethan sipped the last of the cold soup, gagging on something slimy in it. Taku was on guard duty, but it felt less like being guarded and more like hanging out between missions, except for the bars between them.

"You remember our first mission as a team? Right when Aykay and I came out of training? That rebel camp out in the trees? And we had Captain Lee as our mission supervisor?"

Taku nodded, not sure where this was going.

"She was so arrogant. Your English wasn't so good back then, so you wouldn't remember, but Captain Lee told us that there were about 20 rebels hiding out there. You know what Aykay said?" He smiled. "She said she would handle 19 of them and we could fight over the last one."

Taku laughed. He remembered her being reckless, but he had no idea she'd had such an attitude.

"She's matured a little, I'll give her that." he said. "But I wish she would think her decisions through a little. The rebellion isn't going to last. They'll fall like the Avengers did. And then what'll happen to her?"

He didn't want to think about it.

A group of well-armed Chitauri were making their way towards the rebels who were still in the forest, following the obvious trail of blood and broken bushes. Andrew led the group himself, occasionally scooping to the ground to get a closer look at clues. "Never thought I'd be Mantracker.." he muttered with a chuckle. "Anyways, they're nearby. Remember, don't kill them... just knock them out and bring them to the ship. That way, we can experiment some new things I've come up with." He smiled deviously under his armoured helmet. The Chitauri gained formation and proceeded into the forest with their instructions.

Aaron threw the rest of the bones and organs into the fire and then licked his fingers. He took a big gulp of water to wash everything down. Aaron smiled, "Mm mm, goood!" but stopped suddenly, confused. "What did I just say? Where the heck did it come from..?" Sitting with a confused look on his face, he tried to remember where the phrase came from. "Oh! Yes! Wait, no... aww. Ummm..." Pressing his temples harder as if the action would reveal the information to him, he thought harder. "OHYES, CAMPBELLS! Haha! Man, did you know how good their soup was? Oh, I could really kill for that right now." He dreamed of the classic Chicken Noodle soup while rubbing his belly. "So salty and the chicken so tender.. I always wondered how they got the noodles so perfectly cooked. Never found out. The last can I had was exactly 18 months ago, to the day."

He looked around, seeing only Prya and she wasn't looking too awake. "Oi fey! That ray of sunshine ran off after the girl. Dude, I knew they were together!!" He chuckled to himself. "Eh, they'll be fine."

Ray gave a shaky laugh, and said in a mockery of a conversational tone; "Oh yeah, I've been shot before too, haha... It hurt like crap."
He looked her over anxiously. Aykay really seemed serious about rushing into the palace like a crazy person, and maybe if he was all hyped up on coffee he'd be cool with that, but... Gah, his spidery-sense was acting up again. Ray slapped the back of his neck, but there was nothing. Stupid imaginary itchy bugs, making him all twitchy... Maybe, just like that, his worry was for naught.
"I guess you really care about your brother, huh," he mused, seeing how determined Aykay was.
It seemed that she and her brother had worked together for the military. Ray thought he understood better than most how difficult that life was, without ever having lived it himself. He had been prepared for something like that. He was quiet until she turned the conversation on him.
Though he made an effort not to show it, he was alarmed. "So I can play a convincing noble. Okay, I spent some time around one of the rich families. Maybe I was a, a serving slave," Ray crinkled his face in distaste- he remembered a few of those he'd rather not- "and listened in on some of the lessons, yeah? But I'm not, not one of them," he shook his head. "I spent the last four years back there," he gave an quick, sweeping gesture towards the factories, and frowned in memory. "That... That wasn't so hot."
The distant past, well, that's what that is, isn't it? A thing of the past. No longer relevant.

The shining city. Sunlight glittered off its sleek, gold curves, fracturing into trillions of brilliant beams which dazzled any onlooker's eyes. One such young lady was in the state of being just that as sat beside the window sill, her hands pinning up her unruly hair on autopilot while she stared outwards, captivated by the sight. Her fingers moved swift and skillfully; evidently this was a task with which she had had more than her due practice.
"Kitty! Kats, are you ready already or what?" A voice called from down the stairs.
Instinctively, the girl by the window yanked on the curtain, hiding the view behind a wall of deep sapphire velvet. "Ready for what?" she murmured, perplexed, to herself really, since she knew full well her quiet tones wouldn't carry downstairs; and she simply hated shouting... The girl couldn't recall any plans for this evening, and although her mother and sisters regularly frequented parties and dinners, it had been a long while since she had joined them. These outings weren't exactly optional in her family, but she had yet to face trouble over it for truth be told, the girl's mother hadn't noticed her absence even once. Her sisters covered for her; it wasn't like they wanted the strange girl there. It meant a higher male to female ratio, which was basically all they cared about.
After a short sigh, the girl retracted the previous thought. That was being unfairly harsh on her sisters. It still wasn't exactly UNTRUE though.
She descended the stairs, a little hesitantly, unsure of what she'd find.
Her oldest sister was waiting for her in the lounge, and smiled radiantly when she saw her. "Oh, good; quickly, Mother has ordered a carriage for us, it's waiting outside-" she froze, catching sight of the youngest's clothes. "Kat!" she exclaimed in utter disbelief. "What on earth are you wearing?!"

Aykay chuckled a little at his answer. "I don't buy that one bit. But if you have secrets that you want the keep, that's your business. You can even keep denying it if it makes you feel better." She said. "But nothing stays secret forever, so I sure hope you're ready when /that/ skeleton falls out of your closet."

Suddenly, her legs crumbled under her. She could barely focus now... her mind was racing, trying to think of something she could do...

"Ray, I need you to take me somewhere. I can't walk on my own like this..." She said. "One of my old friends lives down this way. She's a medic, or at least she /was/... She lives just down the next row of houses, I think. I dunno if she'll want to help me, but she's my best shot."
