Saying goodbye

I'm staring at the floor when my best friend, Lara, shuffles in. Her skin is light and her hair is golden, unusual features for a girl from District 11. She's one of the wealthier people here. Lara's blue eyes are filled with tears. "Here," she says, so quiet I can barely hear her. Lara takes the golden locket from her neck and gives it to me. "Your district token." It's as bright as a sunflower and is made from glimmering gold.
"Thank you," I reply, looking up. Tears are welling up in my eyes, and a sob breaks out. I stand up and hug her, letting the tears flow.

Skills: As sweet and adorable as she may be, she can fight very well. Lauri is a true master at using a sword, and can easily deceive others with her looks into underestimating her. She can hit fast and hit hard.

Reaping

I walk into the reaping area, wearing my snowflake blue (color of a snolo egg) dress, my neat brown hair tucked neatly behind by ear. The Capitol dude dances onto the stage. "I just can't wait for the show to begin!" he chimes, walking to the reaping ball. He started to pull out a name. "May the odds be ever in your favor! And maybe if your lucky...you'll get picked! Congrats to Lauri Tam!"
"OMG!" I cry. Tears form in my hazel eyes. "Epic tear! You have failed me, reaping ball!" I walk up to the stage bawling, tripping along the way. I'm not worried about being considered a weakling by the other tributes--actually, things are going exactly according to plan.

I sit on the chair and faint.
