She reached the clearing and found Chase sitting with his feet in the river. Caroline smoothed her nightgown and sat next to him. "What's wrong?" she asked, watching tears slide down his cheek. "Tomorrow I'm leaving. For good. I can't ever return." He wept. "What? Why? What do you mean?" Caroline cried out. "I'm moving to America, and we won't be able to return." Chase sobbed. Tears traced wet paths on Caroline's cheeks "You can't! Please don't leave!" she cried. "We have to. We aren't making enough money, and my father has gotten a job there. I'm sorry, Caroline, I'm so, so sorry." Chase sniffled. He pulled a red box out of his pocket and handed it to Caroline."Open it. It's my gift to you." he said, and wiped her tears away. Caroline opened the small box, and found a piece of chocolate and a silver bird pendant. "I love it, thank you, Chase." she smiled. "I have to go now. I leave in the morning." He stood up. "No, Chase, please stay, just a bit longer..." She sniffled. "No, I'm really sorry, I'll write to you, I promise. Every day. Goodbye, Caroline. I love you." he said. "NO! CHASE!" Chase ran out of the clearing. "Please, Chase, please, I'll do anything...please..." she sobbed, and fell to her knees, her lonely cries filling the night. Chase looked back over his shoulder, and then fled into the night.

Where was I? My mouth was taped shut. My hands and feet were chained to a cold, stone wall. I tried to look around, but there was only darkness. I was in a damp, musty room, a dungeon. The walls were stained with crimson streaks. Footsteps echoed throughout the dismal chamber. I wanted to scream. My throat was dry, I was trying so hard to get help, I just wanted to go back home, where I wouldn't be alone. The footsteps became louder, and then a faded, soft light shone in the room. The orange light reminded me of the sunset, and forlorn thoughts of death dilapidated. When the light came closer, I saw a man in a suit. He ripped off the tape that prevented me from speaking, but even with the tape off, it seemed like I couldn't say anything. He was silent as well. He began dumping a liquid on the floor, and I didn't understand what was going on until he dropped the torch. He walked away, and my death began. I was alone. I screamed, but nobody came. Flames licked at my skin, burning, raging, consuming all that could be devoured. My throat burned, and there was nothing but pain. The darkness in my mind was beckoning to me, whispering, just the faint pull of death tugging at me, trying to take me over the edge. I fought against the alluring shadows in the depths of my soul, but death prevailed, and I was died alone.

@choocalate Omgosh, the Goldox Sorting System totally missed you out! That's the last time I buy a cheap Yeep-made product! I really wanted one of those fancy schmancy Nym ones, but Ian sells them too expensive, and I decided on better prizes instead.
Worse, your story is one of the top rated ones, and I'm not exactly going to kick someone out! Well, Eight IS my lucky number.... O_o
