@misa
We never said that you wouldn't have to collect points, but that if it was a direct exchange, it would be too easy to get creatures. We said that you would have to collect points and exchange, and there would be a smaller chance of obtaining the creature for the rarer that it is.

@sarahsaurus
The point system would be adjusted to rarity, there is no point to collect 300 something points just for a tiny chance for the creature you are seeking.

@dionaea @mairbear
You could always send in a ticket to request permission to transfer the creature. There can be a code attached to each dream creature that prevents it from showing up in the TC that can be temporarily disabled for the duration the mod keeps the request open. Within 24 hours, the mod can check where the creature was transferred via its creature id and activate the code again. There was a suggestion about linking all side accounts to your main for easier creature transfers, so if that ever happens, sending the dream creature between sides shouldn't be a hassle.

That's why it would be better- there wouldn't be lots more legendary critters popping up, making them stay rare instead of going common. It would also put less of a hype on dream catching, making the main way to get critters still trading.

@sarahsaurus
The point collecting would be hard enough. The % chances would be next to impossible so I wouldn't even try.

@sarahsaurus

I was interested in the plan, but then got dissuaded by the loyalty point concept. I don't think this would be a great plan.

@misa

What I just said above. The odds I proposed would ensure that everyone gets a fair chance (which, I hope, @immortalraven also agree with). Also, the p(x) is small that it won't be too problematic. That being said, I dislike the concept of the shop with loyalty/dream points.

The whole idea all in all doesn't really appeal to me much. I don't think people would buy CC, or worry about retire dates. Not trying to put anyone down who supports this, but it ruins the whole concept of working hard for your creatures.

Deleted • 20 June 2014 at 10:23 AM

@sarahsaurus
I understand your concern for earning creatures, but why do you think people wouldn't buy CC anymore?

@hybridrainbow
Let's take the revii for an example. It's available now, and everyone wants to get theirs before time runs out and it's July.
In order to have one, CC needs to be bought, but the dreamcatcher doesn't require the purchase of CC. If someone doesn't have any CC, they aren't going to want to use up $5 to get a revii if they can just wait a while, save up dreams, and get it without spending any real money.
I hope the explanation was clear enough '^^

Could it be done like eggcavern's creature raffle?If someone remembers it was hard to gather this ticketa to take creature.

@sarahsaurus
Okay, so let's say that this shop gets made with the point system and recent CSP creatures can be redeemed for...300 points. At one point a day per visit, it'd take almost one year to accumulate enough points to buy the Revii. There's also going to be 23 other CSP creatures that are going to be released during the year, not to mention the ones going for 200 CC every holiday. It's going to be very likely that there's going to be other creatures everybody would want to get while they're still available, because once they retire, their values inflate and it'll cost more to get one later than if you simply just traded for one while it was available.

There are tons of accomplished users on this site who don't buy CC. They either trade their older creatures or use 🪙 to obtain the new ones. When I started buying CC (at the end of the month), I couldn't find a single user to trade me their zinzall. Then the new CSPs were released and I was being offered biwos, zinzalls, flofbites and even got a nym for the new creatures. Those offers made me want to continue buying CC. Users would still want to trade for the new creatures and get them as soon as possible I believe, and as a CC buyer myself, I certainly wouldn't want to wait a year to get a free recent creature when I could save up for something much older.

Don't forget that we'll still need freezes and resurrection stones (which might become tradable items in the near future) for our creatures too.

@hybridrainbow
I definitely see your point. I guess I didn't consider the inflation over the years after a critter is retired. If it's value skyrockets like a yuki or nym, a user trying to buy one with points will just be chasing after it and never accumulating quite enough points to buy one. I still think it would somewhat tilt off the income from CC, but I guess it's too little for it to matter.

@dionaea
I agree he went about it the wrong way, and that this probably wouldn't cause (as much) backlash. (Some people will always complain about any re-release, no matter how reasonable it may be. See the many other suggestions about re-releasing for demonstrations of this.)
But a promise is still a promise, so... ☹️

@sarahsaurus
That's so depressing to think about xD
And yeah, it might a little but not to the point where everyone would stop buying CSP items I hope.

Not unless other Cc items like freezes and so forth are "dreamable," I don't think it'd make much of a difference. c:

@dionaea Great idea, but you should have to feed around 15 creatures per day to get a dream. 😊

@dionaea

I love the idea.

Too many opinions to ping them all....

I read a lot of arguments, and I think it's a good thing to ask them, but some questions are already answered, no need to ask again over and over.

How about you only get points if you do a task? Not dropping by, but find an item or a creature or whatever before you get a point (daily). This way you have to do something besides just dropping by, and I myself would love to do little quests 😃

If it was made untradable, it wouldn't affect trades too much. And besides, I think too many don't see a lot of users likes trading as much as the creatures they get, if not more.
CC wouldn't inflate, already enough arguments for that.

I get that older users don't like to see creatures they worked hard for getting off easy, but who said it is easy? Don't many see how impossible it is for new(er) users to get a creature they like?

All in all, I think a shop like this could add a new and fresh item to eggcave, making users come more often (at least I would 😃).

@dionaea - I love this idea~ I personally wouldn't really care if any of my creatures became 'easier to obtain', it would just mean less people bugging me for my rarer things. I read through the posts on this, and agree that the rarer the creature, the higher the price. Also, there could be double/triple dream days, just like EC, and missions where you could be awarded more dreams. The creatures could also maybe be locked to the account that acquired them. I agree with these things.
Wait, people complaimed about the rerelease of the Balrog? Haha, shows how much I payed attention back then.
