Okay....so I did the right thing. I went and spent an entire hour thinking about this topic. Then I went ahead and did it.

Roleplays with fully grown pet creatures are entertaining, but then I started to wonder. What happens to the eggs that we users NEVER find? When I say this I am talking about the eggs that have been orphaned in the wild without any parents. I was so curious that I decided to make a topic about it!

*puts on storytelling voice*

Once, there was a great big cave. This cave was a nursery, not far away from the cave that Arkiens would approach and explore. This cave was magical, for in it no species was ever retired. There was no such thing as 'endangered', but no human had ever seen it before. The other cave was dismissed as purely a legend and nobody ever bothered to find it.
As the years passed the cave grew more and more magical. Then suddenly, the magical flame that had grown within the stone walls was put out by something more terrible than the darkest shadow.

It was a perfectly ordinary day at the cave, with the mother creatures looking over the younger ones. Then suddenly, the giant Garguaith appeared. Nobody had even seen a Garguaith this big ever before, and if the SARC center had found it they would have described the Garguaith as a gigantic head with vines as thick as houses. The Garguaith herself was as big as a small mountain, and as she burrowed up from the ground screams could be heard.

Of course, it was super easy for her to attack. And if the creatures escaped her wrath, they were eaten by her children who were following her up through the ground to attack. Soon, what once was a nesting site with a waterfall, beautiful views and forests filled with swaying wildflowers was reduced to mounds and mounds of burning rubble in a matter of an hour.

A night after the Garguaith attack, it rained. It poured and poured, as if the spirits of the sky were weeping over the loss of their children and the deceased creatures themselves were crying over the loss of their lives so suddenly. The Garguaith army and their Queen had shown no mercy and left everything in ruins. The remaining creatures had been captured and taken as slaves back down to the center of the earth where the main colony of Garguaiths lived.


It was thought that nobody survived.

They were all proved to be very wrong.


As it rained, the water had put out all the fires and pooled in corners, incubating some of the eggs. The rain washed away the dirt and rubble, and revealed the last few eggs that had, against the odds, survived. Soon, they would hatch. But their future is uncertain. Will they survive their childhood? What would be their lives about? What would the Garguaiths do if they found them?

These creatures are soon to be known as The Lost Generation.

Faults: Although she is both physically and mentally strong as well as being a natural leader, this puts her at a difficult position. If anything bad happens, she is most responsible for dealing with it.

The fading sunlight glinted off the large, sapphire-blue egg. The rain was rushing down it's sides in shimmering rivers, and pooling all around it. It rocked violently, sending ripples rolling across the surface of the water. The wind was soft, producing just the faintest rustling. Otherwise, the world was silent excepting the sounds of the rain. Inside the glistening prison, a small, wet form fought as hard as she could to escape. For the first time since she'd been able to think, she wished to leave the darkness and find out where all the sounds she'd heard recently were coming from.

She wanted to know what had happened to the outside. Only a short while ago, the world had been filled with the great cacophony of a flock. The chatter of Purita, the humming of floicols and the voice of her mother. Then, a huge wave of noise had exploded. Screams, thuds, smashing!

And now, the young grisal heard nothing.

//Don't think about that//, she told herself as she pushed and scratched and kicked at the thick wall of the shell. She focused on the thin seam of brightness she could now see through the largest crack. //One.......more........yank......///

The egg finally split, breaking into several large, shiny pieces as she crunched part of the shell with her icy blue hooves. Almost instantly, the rain bore down on her, enveloping her in a cocoon of cold water and running into her eyes. Her eyes remained closed as her sense of touch adjusted to the rough feeling underneath her feet. She squirmed with excitement. The sticks and leaves underneath her shifted around, and she felt the cold ground beneath her, for the burrow she had hatched in had been destroyed.

It was so strange! She forgot about her mother in her eagerness to meet the world. Her eyes remained closed; she was scared to open them even as her other senses began to open up. Her surroundings were so big and mysterious. She could scarcely comprehend them, so she decided first to focus on herself. Who was she? Which egg was hers? What name had her mother given her??

Grisallia. She didn't know which name belonged to which egg, but she always hearing that name around her cluster of eggs. While several other names came to mind, Grisallia stuck the most. It sounded elegant and pretty to the Grisal. She decided that was what she would be from now on, or at least until her mom came and named her.

Her mother. Suddenly, it all came back to her. Where were her parents?! She had to find them! She could not smell or hear any other grisals. They have to be around here somewhere. She rose on shaky legs, stumbled a few paces forward, slipped in a pool of rainwater and sat down. The water rushing down from the dark, dingy sky gave her no comfort. Why weren't any of the creatures she'd heard coming to her?

"Mother!" she shrieked in her shrill, baby voice. "Help! Help!" Grisallia's aqua blue eyes shot open. A world of color rushed in, startling her. "Mother?!! MOM!!!!"

The small, fury, purple egg felt warmth surrounding it like a cushion. The small creature inside felt restless and wanted to move around. One.... Two... CRACK! A small furry head popped out of the egg. The creature used its paws to break away part of he shell to escape.

/What am I?\ The creature asked itself, /Who am I?\ She remembered a soft, calm voice talking. A couple of words appearing in her mind over and over again. But two stuck out to her, Purita and Dreamflight.

Dreamflight opened her violet eyes and froze as she saw her surroundings. Eggs were shattered around her, her den looked like it was burnt. She turned to where her egg was. It was in a ditch and was most likely covered with dirt to hide her.

"Mama?" She squeaked, "someone?" A drop of rain hit her head and she ran into the trunk of a tree.

While this was happening another egg started to move. A ruby one. A red paw pushed at the shell, asking it to break. The red shell fell onto the stream and was washed away. The creature, unlike the last, knew fully of what it was. It was a Corunis. It just wanted go know who it was and where is her family.

Only one sentence gave her an answer. "I'm sorry, Splashnose." /Was that my mother?\ She asked herself. The question almost brag her to tears.

The ruby creature felt something wet touch her head. She ran undercover and hid from the rain. "Hello?" She called, not wanting to be alone, "Somebody! Anybody! MAMA!!" Her high pitched voice wailed, wanting someone to find her.

"I do not want to be alone."

Species: Horsca
Personality: Distant, cold, but mostly because he is in fear of the world around him. Inside he is terrified of being hurt and losing any more loved ones. Becomes friendlier once you get to know him.
Talents: Can use his scales as weapons; like ninja-stars/"darts".
Faults: Scared of what will happen if he were to meet an enemy, as in the Garguaith army.
Other: Grows up to be quite good-looking, but he doesn't really acknowledge/realise it 😉

Gender: Female
Species: Cumula
Personality: Playful, fiery, energetic and bright.
Talents: Tough, a good fighter and can fly for 30-60 seconds at a time (when small; when she gets older she can stay in the air for up to 5 minutes)
Faults: Can become haughty if she does not get her way. Also, she can become tired easily as she does not really know how to use her energy.

Splashnose faintly heard someone wail. She pricked her ears up. Despite the rain, she ran towards the sound, one sentence in her mind: I do not want to be alone.

Through the bushes, she saw a blue head. Having no idea if it was friendly or not she crept forward, her bellow hovering above the ground.

A bolt of lightning struck and she jumped into the clearing, about two tail lengths from the strange creature. Her ruby eyes looked up at the creature.

/She's just like me\

Though Splashnose had a friend, Dreamflight was still alone. Terrified of the unknown world.

Name: Marshmallow
Gender: Female
Species: Colatay
Personality: Humble, Bubbly, Persistent
Talents: Marshmallow is a humble young Colatay. She works hard to do her best and would do anything to get the job finished. She might be persistent, but at some point, she'll give up and say she'll try again later. When the world around her goes black, her joyful spirit still remains in herself.
Faults: Marshmallow can be jumpy and sometimes she threatens others when she is in a bad mood.

Drip, drip, drip...
Rain kept pouring down from above, dripping down from the shelter of the cave and onto a small blue egg, all alone. Even the trees cannot shelter the egg from this storm. Moments passed, and the egg gave little cracking noises as it struggled to push through the hard shell surrounding the creature that lingered inside.

The creature gave another huge kick and finally, the shell cracked open to reveal a small cat-like creature inside. She had aquamarine eyes, blue paws and a watery tail. The creature shivered as a drop of rain landed on her pinky-red nose.

All she could remember was shouting, growling and shrieks of terror, which still haunted her as she crawled out from under her egg shell. The scent of her mother was stale. Her mother is gone. The creature knew that she must grow up alone, without the training and love of her mother. The thought of her mother brought tears to the young creature's eyes.

With no knowledge of who she is or what she is doing here, she padded around the place, carefully sniffing the air to track any signs of life. Nothing. As more drops of rain fell down on her, she remembered her mother having a water-like tail and a scent similar to the sea. She remembered they used to call her a Trisk.
/That's right... I'm a Trisk./

The last thing she could make out from a distant memory was when her mother was telling a tale to her and her siblings, about a brave creature named Nightfall who discovered the secret of the night sky. She had always loved that story and she decided her name would be Nightfall, now and forever.

Another drop of water fell on her nose.
/Water!/ The creature thought playfully.
She lifted her paws and batted at the tiny drops of water, giggling as the cold made contact with her paws. She might be depressed that her mother is gone, but her free-loving spirit still lingers inside of her.

I slowly opened my eyes, as the shell of my egg broke apart. A war torn place. That's what my first view of the world around me was.
I suddenly remembered I was alone.
'Mother? Father? Are you here?' I thought. I was terrified. What was going to happen to me? I struggled to stand up. After many failed attempts, I managed to wobble a few steps. The rain was now coming down in buckets. But somehow, I could sort of see through it. Perhaps it was because I was a... Horsca? Was that it? And my name was probably Hemca - that was what I had heard being chanted over and over again. I collapsed on the ground again, and decided to just rest a while.

{Carrie}
I furiously tried to puncture the hard wall in front of me. What was this place? All I wanted was to get out. Finally, a tiny hole appeared, then the whole chamber-like place broke apart. I glanced around at this new world. It was all in ashes...
Mum! And Dad! Where were they? Somehow, I knew that my name was Carrie and that I was a Cumula. But I needed to find my parents. I started looking around frantically. Then I realised... there was something in front of me, looking suspiciously still. I glanced down and squeaked out in fright. The dead body of a beautiful Cumula was what stared me in the face.
"M... Mummy?" I whispered. I wanted to shake her awake, but was terrified of going any closer to her. Tears silently started to fall down my face. I didn't want to know what had happened to my father. I couldn't bear to look at her limp body any more. I turned my head and scampered to the nearest sheltered place I could see, hating myself for leaving my mother. And that place just happened to have two other creatures there.
"He-hello? Are you lost? Or were you left alone like me? Could I please be your friend? I'm Carrie, by the way. What're your names? Well, I guess we'll just stick together, yeah...?" I tried to keep cheerful. But my voice still shook. I just hoped I could have some company.

"I'm, Splashnose," She replied quietly. She was calming down now that creatures were surrounding her.

Nightfall stopped playing with the drops of water for a moment and listened to a rustling of leaves behind her. She scented the air, then twitched her whiskers.
/Another creature.../
She prodded towards a hollowed out tree, which looked like it used to be an Obarn's nest, and peered inside.
"Hello?" Nightfall called, hoping for a reply.
"I know you're there. Don't be afraid, my parents are gone too."

A brown egg rumbled violently in it's nest, desperate to get out of the enclosed space. The creature within looked through a peephole, only to see no more than the dark grey sky and drops of rain. The creature gave another huge yank, pushing the egg forward down a slope. Instead of cracking, the egg smashed into a rock, and the creature inside emerged from under a shattered piece of the shell.

The creature had a chocolate-like appearance, with green eyes and brown fur. She fluttered her wings, which lifted her off the damp soil ground for a few moments, then she dropped back down. She remembered when she was still in her egg when her mother was alive, when her mother used to place her wings over her egg shell. The warmth and her mother's sweet voice soothed her that everything is going to be ok, but now, there's nothing left. No sign of her mother, nothing.

The brown chocolate-like creature fluttered her wings once again, only to fall from the weight of the water. She knew it was hopeless with all this rain, but she's not willing to give up just yet.
/I wish my mother was here. She would've taught me how to fly./
With that thought running through her head, a question popped into her mind; Who was she? She had wings like a Tine, and brown fur like a Chocob, but she couldn't pinpoint her heritage. A Colatay? Is that what she was? Yes, that was it.

"yes," Dreamflight said as she move over, pressing her fur into the bark. Her mind was racing, since she was thinking about what happened to everyone. What caused everything to break and why did her parents try to save her, not her siblings.
