Skyler waited for the man to go. She closed her eyes and sighed quietly. Now i can finally be good! she thought. I will return this to the Museum and then have my name on the radio.. I will finally be happy. She opened her eyes to watch for the guy to leave.

The man walked to the museum where another man stood waiting. He reached into his pocket to take out the diamond, but found that it wasn't there.
"What's wrong Sam?" Sam frantically checked his coat pockets.
"I can't find the diamond! I just had-"
"You what?!" Sam's eyes filled with tears.
"I'm sorry! I don't know what happened! Please! Don't-"
There was a loud bang and Sam dropped to the ground. The man stared at the dead Sam and muttered, "Apology not accepted." Then he walked off.

Chloe held up the brief case. "It has a million. I'll give you the rest when I can."
Lindsay shook her head slowly. "You don't want me to have to contact Paul do you?"
Chloe shook her head. "No. I will have the rest in two days."
Lindsay smiled. "You think you can get five million dollars in two days?"
Chloe smiled back. "You'd be surprised of what I'm capable of."

Kita pressed herself up against the pillar.

"Stop!" she yelled, losing her composure. The flames flickered near her skin. "Someone please help!"

She knew she wouldn't be heard from here, but she was desperate. The fire... she couldn't stand it... Not since...

Skyler got there just in time to see the guy being shot. She stood there, her mouth open. "IM WAITING UNTIL TOMORROW!" she said going to sleep in the woods.

"Torch!"

The man was knocked back into reality when he was grabbed by the arms. He struggled in their grip, anger flaring at how roughly they were pulling him back. The building roared as Torch was spurred onwards by requests to stop.

"DON'T TOUCH ME." Flames exploded from his arms, trailing up his outstretched fingers and up his shoulders. The men that had pulled him away were incinerated almost immediately. The duo was set on fire, and they fell to the ground, crying out in pain.

Luckily, he had been dragged several dozens of feet away from Kita. Far enough that she would not have been harmed by the blaze. Torch took heavy breaths, and fire spilled from across his shoulders in spirals of magma across the ground. His eyes darted around the building at the multitude of soldiers that had backed away from Torch.

"Anyone else?" He rumbled.

"Torch..." One of the woman trailed off, though her voice rang clearly through the air. "Everything will be fine, calm down." She stepped forwards, approaching him slowly.

Torch glanced over at her, and he felt his anger subside. "Sorry..." He mumbled at her. "Can you....?"

The woman sighed. "It's no problem." She said. Water swirled from her fingertips, and the spiraling faucets slithered across the floor, effectively putting out any and all of Torch's flames. The woman took a few steps towards the two men still on the ground, she knelt down besides them for a split second before simple dousing them in liquid.

"They're already dead." She said in obvious disappointment. "Torch, take them out will you?"

The fiery enabled slung one of the bodies over his shoulder, before grabbing the other one by a burned ankle. "Sorry." He muttered apologetically as he headed across the warehouse, one dead man over slung over himself like a sack, while the other was dragged slowly behind him.

"Just like a babysitter bound to a volatile child..." She muttered to herself the second Torch was out of hearing distance.

Water... Another enabled revealed.

That man... She looked at the scorch marks on the floor. Similar scorch marks littered the floor. He was volatile... Even his own people couldn't control him...

"How does your boss get away with having a guy like that around?" she asked. "He seems like more of a liability than an asset..."

She looked at her shoulders. They were bright red from the heat.

"I am going to get out of here... right?"

Lindsay Nodded slowly. "Fine. Two days. You better go into a crime spree."
Chloe went back onto the elevator. As the doors closed, she said, "That's exactly what I intended to do." When she was out of the apartment, Chloe thought about what her next move should be. She only had two days to get her hands on 5 million dollars.

"Torch is dangerous, but valuable. He inspires fear, and fear reigns easily over all else." The woman laughed. Her giggling echoed around the warehouse like a repetitive melody.

"I suppose that's up to Veitkov to decide." She pushed her hair out of her face, pulling several loose strands behind her ear. The woman glanced out towards one of the dusty windows. It was darker now, blacker than earlier had been. Probably half past midnight, if not later.

"I'll take the night watch. You guys get some rest." She directed towards the guards spread around the area.

Kita woke to a sharp pain in her back. She had fallen asleep leaning on the pillar. She looked up groggily. Only five people in the room now.

"You should get some rest."

Vladan jolted up at Dawn's voice. His bloodshot eyes landed on the woman's curvy figure leaning against the door. "I've done my part." She said. "Been paying visits to our friends all night, we'll be well prepared to destroy Russel and the remaining people in his gang." The woman paused and Vladan sensed her hesitation. "And get Kita back."

The man shifted uncomfortably from his spot in his chair. "I don't care about what happens to her." He mumbled. "It's her fault she's in this situation in the first place. She's the very reason the money was delayed."

Dawn forced down her chuckle. "You keep telling yourself that, darling." She rubbed the back of her neck. "I'm going to go get some rest. You should too."

"Not yet..." Vladan trailed off. He handed Dawn a white paper sketched with the layout of the building Kita was supposedly held in. "I have to finish the plan on how we're entering so I can inform my crew tonight."

The woman rolled her eyes. "You go do that then, I'll get some shuteye before the meeting. Make sure to wake me up so I don't accidentally miss it."

"Alright Dawn. See you later." He said dismissively as the blonde turned to leave.

--

A loud bang sounded from across the warehouse. "Again, Torch?" Russel's heavy voice echoed around the room, and the 5 guards inside immediately straightened up at his words.

"It was an accident." Torch replied hesitantly.

"Where did you put the bodies?"

The pyromancer paused yet again, shifting his arms uncomfortably. "In the room..."

"With all the other ones?"

"Yeah...."

By this point of the conversation, Russel had reached Kita's place at the pillar. "Pull them in and burn them, I don't want any proof that anyone had passed." Torch mumbled something almost inaudible to Russel, and the man decided to let the enabled off the hook for his annoying attitude... this time.

Russel turned to face Kita when Torch had headed away. The man pulled out a burner cellphone, holding it up closely to the woman's face. "You know what this is?" He asked rhetorically. "A disposable cell phone."

Russel dialed Vladan's number. "We're going to call your older brother, and you're going to act scared. The value of your life? Five million dollars." He chuckled. "Even to a man as successful as him, I doubt that would be pocket change." He glanced over at the enabled woman that had put out Torch's fires last night.

"You better sound scared, or Sousa is going to give you something to be scared about..." He trailed off threateningly. "She loves playing a little game called waterboarding."

Kita nodded. What choice did she have? She wouldn't have to fake fear, that was for sure.

What had she gotten herself into? Fighting other street gangs was one thing... These guys were the real deal.

This was where she would find out whether she could depend on Vladan or if she would have to fight her way out... And she didn't like her odds in that scenario...

Her anxiety grew as the phone rang.

Come on, Vladan... pick up the phone...

Three rings... four rings...

No...

The ringing interrupted Vladan's sketching. He stared over at his phone, watching as it slowly slid across the table as it vibrated. It was an unknown number, but the man didn't need a caller ID to already know it was Russel. His hand hovered over the phone, and he considered if picking up the phone would help or harm the situation.

In the end, Vladan decided his ego was worth more than a simple conversation with Russel. He pushed down on the decline button, though he did receive a nagging sensation in the back of his mind. Hopefully, his assumptions were right and Russel wouldn't actually harm Kita. Now was one of the times his self confidence played an extremely negative part of his life, considering the addition of his arrogance.

Vladan already knew where Russel had hidden himself and Kita, there was no point in picking up the phone. All it would do would stress him out, and that was something he wasn't prepared to feel at the current time.

--

"What the..." Russel scowled when Vladan didn't pick up. "Is he a moron?" He asked. The man angrily dialed the phone again, but was met with the robotic voice of a woman. "Does this idiot think I'm playing games right now?"

His hands tightened on the phone, and he paused for a second, before dialing the number one last time. He was met with voicemail once again, and the man angrily spoke into the phone.

"For every call that you don't pick up, I'm gong to severe one of your darling sister's fingers." Russel said threateningly as he stared Kita in the eyes.

The blood drained from Kita's face. Her fingers...

She recoiled in terror, straining against her bonds.

"Vladan please!!!" She yelled, needing no convincing to sound terrified.

This was a world far beyond her abilities. She dealt in petty crimes, not criminal organizations. This was too much.

"Vladan, I'm begging you!!! Please answer his calls!!!"

"You hear that Vladan? She's scared for her life. And she isn't wrong to be terrified of us." Russel hung up, ending the voice mail with a solid laugh. He turned towards Sousa, signalling her outsides.

"I'll come back in an hour. For now, I need to make sure Torch hasn't started another fire." Russel motioned for Sousa to follow as the smell of smoke filled the air.

--

"My sister?" Vladan said with a low chuckle. He couldn't help but feel bad at how terrified Kita sounded. "You'll be fine." He muttered to himself. "Just hold out until tonight." The man stood from his chair, picking up the stack of papers he had been working on.

He held them tightly in his hands as he paper clipped the plans together. The man glanced over at the clock on the wall. It was nearly noon.

Vladan headed into Dawn's room, entering without so much as a knock on the door. "Change of plans, Dawn. We need to get her tonight."

"Get dressed, we're leaving for the meeting with my friends now."

Kita hung limply from her restraints. She was in complete shock, numb from terror. They hadn't come back yet. How long had it been? Were they making a call to Vladan now? Would he pick up?

There were three people in the room, all out of sight. Perhaps they wanted her to feel alone. They didn't know she was enabled, and if they did, they hadn't said anything.

She was hungry. She was cold. She was parched. She was tired....

She was terrified.

Surprisingly, everyone had made it to the meeting on time, even considering the fact that he had postponed it to several hours earlier than it was supposed to be. Vladan cleared his throat as he threw down the stack of papers on the wood desk. There were 4 people in the room, excluding Vladan and Dawn. The man placed a hand smoothly over the papers, spreading them out across the surface.

"We're all the same here." He said. "I'll have all 4 of you realize that everyone in this room is gifted." The man paused as he glanced around the table. "It's up to you if you want to share your powers with anyone else, but it matters not to me as long as you complete your job."

"Dawn scouted the area earlier this morning, thanks to her wonderful teleportation abilities. There are around one dozen soldiers, probably more, less likely fewer."

"There are 3 entrances and/or exits in the warehouse. One to go in, one to leave, and one as a decoy I assume, if officials were to show up."

"The goal is to destroy every single one of those mongrels working under Russel..." Vladan trailed off as his eyes glinted dangerously. "Make sure Kita makes it out alive... Russel as well. I'd like to speak to him personally."

--

Footsteps resounded noisily against the concrete ground as Russel headed towards Kita with Torch and Sousa at his heels. A jagged knife shone dangerously in his hand as he stopped in front of the woman. Rust covered the blade, along with dark stains that appeared to be dried blood.

"Guess what time it is, Kita?"

--

"Fo-" Vladan was cut off as the piercing ring of his phone entered the air. He raised an eyebrow, before quickly concluding his sentence.

"For now, I'd like 2 of you to come with me, and the other 2 with Dawn. We'll be working in groups of 3." He waved his hand dismissively at the small crowd in the room "Meeting adjourned, go get prepared."

He hovered his hand over the phone, shooting Dawn a glare as she loitered by the doorway. Right before the call was about to automatically decline, he slid his finger over the 'accept' button on the screen.

--

"Hello Russel." Vladan's voice echoed through the silent warehouse, and Russel smirked at the sound.

"I hav--"

--

"Kita, yes I know. I am aware." Vladan cut Russel off before he could finish his statement. "You're an idiot to think you can get away with this."

--

Russel clenched the phone tightly. "Don't test me, Vladan. I have a blade in my hand and Kita besides me. If you want her to live, I suggest you cough up 5 million dollars in exchange for her release."

The laugh coming through the speakers of the phone angered Russel to the core. "You are in no position to be amused right now." The man said through grit teeth.

--

"Well of course I am." Vladan replied. "I have the money you want, and you have something I need. Where do you suppose I meet up with you for the exchange?"

--

"The Greenbay warehouse." Russel said bluntly. "I want the money by tomorrow morning at 8 AM sharp." The reply was hesitant, and Russel grinned at how slow Vladan's response was.

"I'll see you soon then, Russel." The man chuckled lightly at Vladan. "Afraid now, aren't you?" He reached over to Kita, wrapping his hands tightly around his neck.

"Do you hear her cry?" Russel whispered.

Kita made a sharp choking sound, but didn't struggle. She was too weak from hunger and lack of sleep to resist.

Russel released his grip as he laughed noisily into the phone. "You hear that, Vladan?" He yelled. His eyes darted wildly from Sousa to Torch, before finally back to Kita.

-

Vladan winced slightly at how out of it Kita was, but his guilt was soon overtaken by anger at how badly Russel was treating the woman. "That's how you're gonna die." The man stated bluntly.

-

Russel smirked. "Let's see you try, and see what happens to Kita. You're coming alone. If I even suspect that anyone else is with you, her life is mine."

-

"That's how you're gonna die." Vladan repeated again. "With my hands around your throat." He said through grit teeth. Before Russel even had a chance, he hung up the call and stood from his spot. Vladan stepped towards one of the white walls of the room when something caught his eye.

"There you are..." He muttered in surprise. The knife from his previous tantrum was still embedded hilt deep in the wall, and Vladan pulled it out before wiping dust off the blade. The man smoothed his hands over the edge, before slipping it into his pocket.

-

Russel tossed the phone towards Torch. "Destroy it." The man turns towards Sousa. "As for you, give Kita a drink of water. I don't want her to die before he even gets here." He laughed.

"Because she's going to die whether he shows up or not, anyway."

Kita looked up listlessly as she was offered a drink. She let the lukewarm liquid slide down her throat, not bothering to do anything about the stray drops that fell from her lips.

What was the point? Even if Vladan came...

"You're the only thing I have left, Kita." James said, holding her hand. He'd finally been allowed supervised visits for good behaviour. She held his hands in hers. His grip was tighter than it had been before... Like he didn't want to let go.

"I know." She said. "You aren't going to lose me. I promise."

He gripped her hands tighter. "Promise me you won't get mixed up in that kind of thing anymore." He said. "You're too precious to me for me to lose you because of some dumb gang fight."

"I promise." She said. "I wouldn't do that to you."

The guard informed them that the visit was over. James leaned forward and kissed her. She liked that.

Her head lulled as she hovered on the brink of unconsciousness.

"I'm sorry... James..." She mumbled, delirious.

Dawn shushed One and Two as they rounded the corner. Vladan never told her their names, so she had nicknamed them to make her life much simpler. A shimmering barrier provided the trio with invisibility. The woman glanced over at the hooded twins. One provided the stealth, while the other had the ability to provide a shield should something come up. There were several people patrolling near the warehouse, and a looming gate blocked the only way inside the area.

"Are you two ready?" Dawn whispered to the two girls. Both were skinny and small, and the woman wondered fleetingly why Vladan would allow girls that looked no more than 16 to work in as dangerous a line of work as this.

The trio had practiced this earlier, and Dawn prayed that it would work. She took in a slight breath, before concentrating on the 2 bodies besides her and herself. The ground gave way beneath her feet, and she felt weightless for several long seconds before--

Her eyes opened, and she nearly gasped at the proximity she stood near a pile of scorched bodies. The woman looked down, and whispered a silent good job to the twins. The invisibility had prevailed, even through Dawn's teleportation.

She pulled at the two girls, making to move away from the multitude of charred, dead people lying on the ground. The warehouse was high, and looked relatively abandoned save for the guards patrolling outdoors. There was only one entrance, and two exits, but all 3 were watched heavily.

"Got any ideas?" She muttered.

"You didn't visit yesterday."

She looked up at James, smiling guiltily.

"Yeah, but check this out." She pulled a newspaper clipping out of her pocket to show him. "The guard said you couldn't keep it, but I could show you."

James read through the article. "You didn't..."

She smiled. "Come on, you know me. I needed to channel my energy somewhere. And helping catch petty criminals is just the thing to do it." Seeing the worry on his face, she added, "I don't do anything dangerous. I promised you that much. No gangs. No organizations. Just petty thieves and low-level scum."

He gave her a concerned look. She kissed him.

Torch laughed loudly when an all too familiar flashy red car was released through the black gates. He watched with fiery eyes as Vladan exited the car. Immediately, the man was flanked by several men.

It was uncalled for when two more doors were open from the ire riot of the car. One tall masked figure, and one elegant woman.

"I thought Russel specifically told you to come here alone." Torch said threateningly. His hands lit up the night as flames appeared across his bare arms.

--

Vladan chuckled. "Long time no see, Torch. I see you've been hard at work still." The man glanced over towards the warehouse, where a pile of ashes, skin and bone left several trails of smoke grasping for the sky. He glanced over at Jade as she carefully exited the vehicle.

"I brought two friends to ensure the exchange goes well..." He trailed off as the thin, masked figure stepped towards the trunk. Vladan watched as Teiv's silhouette popped the trunk and handed 2 briefcases to Jade and kept the other 2 to himself.

"Russel wanted 5 million. There's 1.25 in each case. Where's Kita?" Vladan said bluntly as he pushed the guards surrounding him aside.

"I appreciate my personal space." He muttered as Jade and Teiv stepped up.

--

Torch's flames faded when Sousa placed a hand on his warm shoulder. "It'll be fine." She said. "We'll just keep better watch on the 3 of them." The dark haired woman turned towards Vladan. "Russel is waiting inside." She spoke clearly.

"Don't try anything, you're surrounded."

Kita looked up. She could sense six more people. She could feel Vladan's familiar energy. He was here...

She let her head drop, her hopefulness dissolving. It didn't matter. Wasn't that what Russel had said? Money or no money... It didn't matter...

James would be heartbroken... She hadn't seen him in nearly two weeks, so he'd be worried already... And he wouldn't even be allowed to go to the funeral...

It was all her fault...

Vladan's breath caught in his throat when he was led into the warehouse. Kita looked absolutely terrifying. She had only been here for a little over 2 days, and her condition was horrible. Had they even bothered to feed her? He forced his gaze away from her tied form in an attempt to keep his cool composure. Jade and Teiv handed their briefcases to Vladan in turn, and the man threw them each on the ground. One by one, they split open to reveal stacks upon stacks of bills.

"You can count it if you want." The man said coldly.

--

Russel's eyes widened at the sum of money laying in front of his feet. He chuckled loudly, before waving over for Torch and Sousa to come over.

"I don't need to." He retorted. "What I do need is for your two friends to get on their knees and put their hands behind their back."

--

Vladan shot a sideways glance at Jade and watched as she hesitantly knelt down. Teiv, on the other hand, refused to comply. "Get down." Vladan muttered through grit teeth. Still, the masked figure refused.

"Your ego is less valuable than Kita's life." He growled lowly, before kicking Teiv's legs out from under him. The other man fell to the floor, though there was no reaction other than a head turn from Vladan to Russel.

"That's right, Veitkov. I am in charge now."

It took all of Vladan's will not to jump on Russel and strangle him to death, but he could see the armed men surrounding the room from out of the corner of his eyes. Torch was untying Kita, and he watched with irritation.

He had to make sure the woman was nowhere near that volatile man. One wrong command and Torch would explode into a fiery ball of rage.

--

Russel motioned Sousa over to the briefcases, watching as she shut and transferred them towards 4 waiting guards. "Make sure the money gets properly stored in the vehicle." He said. The woman had nodded to his statements, and she headed after the 4 men as they made to exit the building. Water swirled around her fingertips as she guarded the men and more importantly--the money.

--

Vladan tried his best to keep a straight face through the exchange, but panic was slowly rising in his head. That Sousa woman... Another enabled. Torch was a pyromancer as well. How many of the other soldiers working for Russel had powers as well?

The man had vouched on being able to win the impending fight through the advantages of super powered people, but if any more people in this building also had abilities... He didn't know what to do.

More importantly, where was Dawn? There were no alarms yet, and Russel didn't seem concerned. No reports of any dead, either. So Vladan assumed Dawn had entered the vicinity with the twins safely.

The question was, how close by was she?

Kita felt her bonds loosening, and she fell to the floor. It was cold and she could feel loose stones digging into her skin. She looked up to see who had untied her.

It was the fire enabled. The one who had already nearly killed her. Maybe he would get his chance. Maybe he would get his wish and Russell would let her live and she would be given to him... She wasn't sure which was worse.

She could feel Vladan nearby. She wished she could warn him... But when she tried to speak, all that came out was a weak airy noise.

No...

Vladan... He could read minds, right? Maybe...

She raised her head slightly, looking into his eyes to get his attention.

Ambush... You need to run... Get out...

By the time Dawn had managed to teleport One, Two and herself into the warehouse, the air was already deep with tension. Vladan was standing still, surrounded my armed soldiers. However, when the woman had entered the building, she had caught sight of an enabled woman following suit after the money and the men holding it.

Was now the chance? She took quiet steps towards Vladan, pulling the invisible girls after her. Dawn sidestepped one of the soldiers, holding her breath in hesitation before slipping past him. She continued on her way, journeying forwards toward the released Kita.

--

Torch made to push Kita up, roughly wrapping a arm around her waist as he pulled her closer to his heated body. His masculine presence enough was probably threatening enough. With his lunacy and his fiery temper... He was unpredictable.

--

Dawn reached for Torch, aiming to grab and decapitate him. Her fingers tightened their grip around the blade in her hand. She moved in for the kill...

--

Vladan caught Kita's eye. Her thoughts came by in a jumbled mess, but it was clear enough for him to understand it. Suddenly, it came to him. If Torch could wield fire, and the plan was for Dawn to kill and take whoever was watching Kita...

The air shimmered slightly, and only for a moment, but Vladan caught sight of Dawn and the two hooded girls.

"DAWN, NO!" Vladan yelled out.

--

Torch stepped back in surprise at Vladan's sudden words. He bumped into Dawn, and turned to find himself face to face with the blonde woman. Two hopped over to Kita when One's invisibility barrier wore off. She lifted up her hand in a curving motion, and a barrier appeared around them.

Torch's arms flared out in an explosion of flames, consuming his entire body as it did so. Dawn cried out in surprise, faltering as the fire licked at her skin. One fell to the floor, having been knocked aside by Torch.

--

"Torch!" Russel yelled out in anger as the enabled's flames consumed anything near him, eating at Two's barrier around Kita.

"Shoot them!" The clicks of a dozen guns loading resounded in the air, before being followed by the bangs of the released bullets.

--

Teiv dashed in, pushing Vladan and Jade to the ground. The bullets entered his back in spurts as he covered the duo. The pain--unbearing.

Like usual.

--

Vladan watched as Torch's fire licked Two's shield. Teiv provided enough of a meat shield for him to be unharmed. He didn't know about Jade, but she was probably fine as well. Bullets ricocheted off the barrier, and he hoped Kita was smart enough to run. But from what little he knew, she was probably going to stay and fight.

"Don't be a hero this time!" He yelled gruffly. "Get away!"

--

"Sousa!" Gunshots could be heard from outside. The woman reacted to the loud cry, and she rushed into the building. Water swirled around her arms. "Control the situation!" Sousa raised her arms slightly at Russel's command, preparing to send a wave of water crashing down onto everyone in the room.

Skyler got up warily and walked into the museum now that the men were gone. She went to the security and said, "Hello. I found something that I think belongs to you." she grabbed the diamond and showed them it.
~~
"Thank you! Thank you!" the man said to her. "What's your name?" ~~

"Skyler." she answered him smiling. "Will this be on the news?" she asked.
~~

"Yes!" he said. "Follow me, I need to call the news station, the head manager, and the police. Where did you find this?" he asked turning towards her.
~~

"Oh i found it in the woods." she answered. "It's no big deal, it's all i could do to help you!" She was led into another room and in a little while the police, manager, and news crew showed up and interviewed her.
~~

"This diamond is very valuable." The news crew said looking at the camera. "It is worth an estimated 5 billion dollars." she turned towards Skyler, her eyes twinkling. "For your kindness we reward you with 2.5 Billion dollars. Thanks for bringing this back!" She hands Skyler a billion dollars in cash, in a suitcase.
~~~
"Wow.." Skyler says in awe. "Thanks so much, but i really have to get going now." She waved to the camera and walked outside. "Where is Chloe?" she asked herself. "I have to split this with her!" she jogged to Chloe's house and knocked on the door.@bunnyshadow @dada_dragon
@lailaluckyseal87 awesome!
Chloe walked the long way to her house. On the way, she thought about where her next heist should be. Some place with a lot of money. When Chloe got to her house, she saw a Skyler.
"Are you trying to break into my house?"
Kita made to stand, stumbling a little. She turned to the girl beside her, generating a failing shield. They were both dead unless...
Kita grabbed the girl's arm. She took a second to steady herself and strengthened the girl's shield with her own. She watched the chaos around her. Vladan wanted her to leave... But...
She looked at the girl.
"What's the plan here?" She asked. "I can help you with the force field as long as my palm makes contact with your arm. Tell me what to do."
