Tanglepath looked at Hazelclaw then turned back to Moonsplash. "She seems to be looking for someone. Is that Hazelclaw?"

Mosspelt nodded,"Sure if you're not busy. Nightpaw! We're leaving!" Mosspelt motioned with his tail for Woodstripe to follow. Mosspelt walked out of the camp and headed to the sandy shore by the river. Woodstripe, would you mind if Nightpaw practiced on you?"

"Yes, that's Hazelclaw, I imagine she wants to train you right now," Moonsplash meowed.

Tanglepath sighed. "I suppose you're right." He didn't want to leave Moonsplash, but he knew he had to get trained. "Well, I'll see you later." Tanglepath ran up to Hazelclaw. "I'm ready for training!"

Blazestar looked up at the darkening sky and turned to Eveningmist. "What cats are you sending on the dusk patrol? It might be best to gather them and send them out."

Moonsplash sighed, she wished that she could tag along with Hazelclaw and Tanglepath. She remembered that in her haste, she left her thrush half eaten she picked it up and resumed eating it.

"Bluepaw, Bramblefur, and Stormwhisker(made up cat) Eveningmist replied,"I'll go tell them."

Duskfur watched the prey pile to see who would take her rabbit.

So far, she knew that at least 4 cats had heard of her little escapade, but no young cats had come to talk to her. She sighed. She felt lonely.

Eveningmist poked her head into the warrior's den,"Bramblefur? Stormwhisker? Time for the Dusk patrol. Bramblefur bring Bluepaw."

Moonsplash finished her thrush and padded up to Eveningmist,"Do you mind if I go hunting alone right now?"

Eveningmist nodded,"Sure, Nightpaw's ceremony is tomorrow so we need as much prey as we can get."

Moonsplash padded out of the camp and sniffed the air. She scented 1... no 2 rabbits and proceeded to hunt them. She stalked towards them and pounced on one nipping it then chasing the other and biting it as well. In the end she successfully caught both of them. She decided to go to the river and try and catch some fish.

Hazelclaw dipped her head slightly in greeting. "It appears that you already know who I am," she meowed. "Eveningmist told me that I am to familiarize you with our Clan and teach you the ways of a warrior."

Her tail twitched. Hazelclaw silently observed the tom. He was very likely the same age she was, so there couldn't be too many differences in skill. If anything, the discrepancies would be easily corrected or adjusted.

This should be simple enough, she thought.

"We can begin whenever you're ready. Make sure that you've eaten something! I won't go easy just because you're new," Hazelclaw challenged, tipping her head to the side playfully.

Woodstripe flicked the bits of sand off his rump and rose to his feet. He'd only expected to watch their exercise, but practicing with an apprentice would certainly give him more experience.

"I wouldn't mind at all!" His brown eyes brightened excitedly. Tagging along had definitely been the right idea.

"Come at me with everything you've got, Nightpaw! Show me what Mosspelt has taught you," he meowed enthusiastically, sweeping his tail through the air.

"Ok. I'll be right back, let me go get something to eat!" Tanglepath ran to the fresh kill pile. He grabbed a small vole, quickly chowing it down. Tanglepath ran back to Hazelclaw. "Ready!"

Hazelclaw nodded and looked around. She knew that Mosspelt and Nightpaw were out by the river bank for their battle training, along with her idiot brother who'd managed to evade her grasp yet again.

That left a several more areas, but few were large enough to practice in.

"Come," Hazelclaw meowed. "I think the base of the waterfall is still empty." She waved her tail in the general direction and bounded into the forest, moving like a ripple of darkness as her gray pelt and black stripes blended into the shadows.

Hazelclaw slowed her pace a bit and looked over her shoulder to check that Tanglepath was following.

Tanglepath ran after her. As he followed her, he wondered what kind of training they would do. Tanglepath hoped he didn't disappoint Hazelclaw.

Hazelclaw stopped when she heard the roar of the waterfall. The area was void of any trees or bushes, and the ground had recently been swept free of rocks and leaves, the job of diligent apprentices.

The dirt was packed but slightly moist from the spray of mist. It wasn't wet enough to track mud, but it would soften some blows and impacts during training.

Hazelclaw turned toward Tanglepath, her ears perked with focus. "We can go over the belly rake and half-turn belly rake for today. I assume that you know it, so you can feel free to attack at any time."

She dropped into a low fighting stance, her tail level to the ground, hazel eyes gleaming and careful.

The tom wasn't sure what to do. Thinking fast, he came up with an idea, though he didn't know if it would work. Tanglepath leaped in a zigzag motion. Then he jumped toward Hazelclaw.

Wolfpaw looked up at the moon, as she judged how long until it would be until half moon. And based on her own judgments, that would be tomorrow.

Only mildly eager for that, she glanced to her mentor hoping she might be tested in the next moon so she could earn her name at the meeting next moon.

Nightpaw lowered himself into fighting stance. He eyed the distance to Woodstripe carefully and leapt onto Woodstripe's back seizing his scruff to balance himself. The force of the impact when he landed on Woodstripe helped knock Woodstripe off balance slightly so Nightpaw attempted to pull Woodstripe over.

Moonsplash watched the cold clear water a few fox lengths from the water fall where she could expect to find salmon. She swiped at one but due to the slick rocks fell into the water with a large splash. "Fox dung," She muttered as she tried to swim back to the shoreline.

Woodstripe blinked in surprise, having hardly any time to react when Nightpaw made the jump. The apprentice landed and grabbed onto the warrior's brown-gray fur.

"Whoa!" Woodstripe yelped in alarm, as Nightpaw was surprisingly a lot more hefty than he looked. Thinking quickly, Woodstripe knew that there was no way to get out of falling, so he leaned into Nightpaw's pull, aiming to roll over and squish the younger cat under his larger body.

Hazelclaw was caught off guard by Tanglepath's zigzagging approach. Left or right?

She lowered herself even further and narrowed her eyes. A belly rake would require getting under the opponent to expose their vulnerable and soft stomach, and the move would be possible if he managed to push her onto her back.

Hoping her guess was lucky, Hazelclaw dodged to the left as Tanglepath jumped.

Nightpaw saw Woodstripe leaning in an attempt to pull him over with him. Nightpaw had practiced this for a while with Mosspelt and by now was excellent at jumping out of the way. Nightpaw leapt off Woodstripe's back and waited for Woodstripe to fall and then leapt quickly onto Woodstripe pinning him. Nightpaw kept an eye out as he knew in this position he was vulnerable to the belly rake or another attempt to squish him.

ooc; I think it's rather excessive to ping everyone when it's usually only a couple of people and their characters interacting with one another xD If it's not against the rules, I'm going to take to pinging whomever I'm replying to specifically ^^

He's fast! was the only though that could flash through his mind before Woodstripe found himself underneath the black-furred apprentice. He grunted at Nightpaw's weight, but Woodstripe noticed Nightpaw's careful gaze so he stilled his shifting.

"That's brilliant, Nightpaw!" Woodstripe's soft brown eyes brightened with excitement. "You're heavy enough to throw your opponent off balance, while also being quick enough to jump before you get crushed!"

"Surely his warrior ceremony must be coming up soon?" Woodstripe meowed at Mosspelt. He had to turn his head at an awkward angle to meet the other warrior's eyes since he was still on his back, but he made no move to rise.

Mosspelt shrugged,"I think that it's tomorrow, but I'm not sure." Mosspelt turned and faced Nightpaw. "Nightpaw, I think you can get off Woodstripe now," Mosspelt said his eyes warm with amusement.

Nightpaw leapt off Woodstripe,"Do you think I really will become a warrior tomorrow?"

Nightpaw had released Woodstripe, but the brown-gray tom enjoyed lying around on the ground without his sister nagging or nipping at his ears. But he rose to his paws anyway, shaking the sandy dust out of his pelt. Woodstripe's creamy chest was flecked with dirt from rolling around on the ground.

"Tomorrow, wow," Woodstripe breathed lowly in amazement. "That's really soon! Do you feel ready, Nightpaw?"

"We probably should head back to camp, if Nightpaw has his ceremony tomorrow we want him well rested," Mosspelt said.



Moonsplash crawled out of the river and shook her pelt. She was soaking and the water was freezing. Nevertheless she crouched by the edge determined to catch at least one fish.

Woodstripe purred lightly; Nightpaw's eagerness was palpable and contagious. It made him remniscient of his own apprentice days and warrior ceremony. The only way he'd managed to stay awake during the vigil was from the whispered bickering with Hazelclaw, who'd gotten inducted the same time he did.

"You're right." Woodstripe nodded. "Best of luck during your vigil, Nightpaw!"

He tapped the apprentice with his tail teasingly. "And don't fall asleep!" Woodstripe added.

Woodstripe coughed and looked away to hide his amusement. It was times like these that he envied the warriors who had apprentices. Their relationships were certainly one of a kind.

"I'm going to head back to grab a bite to eat and see what Hazelclaw is up to," he meowed, turning away.

His tail tip twitched in humor. "Good job today, Nightpaw! And thank you both for letting me tag along!" Woodstripe called over his shoulder and looked back to dip his head at Mosspelt.

"Ha ha. No I'm going to eat a salmon. I bet I can beat you to the camp!" Nightpaw retorted. Nightpaw dashed off towards the camp.

Mosspelt purred in amusement and raced off after him.

Moonsplash eyed a large fish swimming just beneath the surface. She swatted at it with claws unsheathed and fell in again. "I'm not going to let this fish go!"She thought and bit hard at the fish and dragged it onto the shore. The fish flopped for a minute then laid still. She dragged it and her two rabbits back into camp and laid them on the fresh-kill pile.

Bramblefur had looked at Tanglepath and Moonsplash. No hope for me I guess... He had brought Bluepaw and went to the dusk patrol with Stormwhisker.

Darkclaw had caught a vole and a small thrush. He dropped them onto the pile and looked at the new cat. He took a mouse from the pile and walked to a corner.

Tanglepath flew past Hazelclaw, missing her. Quickly turning around, he crouched low. Think, Tanglepath, think, he thought to himself. He had one more idea, knowing it would look stupid, but gave it a shot anyway. Tanglepath began by running around Hazelclaw in a circle, just out of claws reach. Keeping low, he ran as fast as he could.

Yesterday, Amberflower had realized that the half moon was coming up, and Wolfpaw's ceremony was definitely due sometime soon. When Wolfpaw glanced at Amberflower, Amberflower could tell that Wolfpaw realized that too.

Amberflower didn't have to ask herself if Wolfpaw was ready, because she was. Wolfpaw had worked very hard to memorize the names and uses of herbs, and she was very good at recognizing what was wrong with a cat and how to fix it. Amberflower even had a medicine cat name for Wolfpaw in mind. So it was decided.

Wolfpaw's ceremony would be tomorrow. Now to tell Wolfpaw.

Amberflower finished fixing up Duskfur and then sent her back to the elders den. Amberflower then turned to Wolfpaw. "Wolfpaw," she meowed. "I have something to tell you. You know how we have the half moon meeting tomorrow?"

Mosspelt raced through the underbrush staying closely behind Nightpaw. But, Nightpaw was faster and Nightpaw raced into camp first.

"Beat ya!" Nightpaw called to Mosspelt.

"This time! Now how bout you get yourself something to eat?"Mosspelt replied.

Nightpaw grabbed a fish from the fresh-kill pile and began to eat it.
