Oak's ears twitched. ``And what are you doing here?`` he flicked his tail as Ripple's cold whiskers twitched in her sleep.

``We have enough mouths to feed anyways...`` Oak meowed thickly. He glanced at Ripple, then the queen, and finally at his own wounds. With two injured cats and a queen while illness was spreading, would they really survive, even without the two extra cats?

Ripple seemed to have overheard the conversation, for she weakly lifted her head---rather forcefully---and blinked, mewing,``Oh, let them in. The more, the better. Who knows, they might even help us survive this. After-all, they're not injured.`` neither Oak nor Ripple seemed to notice that their tails were entwined, which would make it difficult to fight or hunt. ``They wouldn't be alive if they couldn't provide for themselves.``

Oak exhaled and muttered a few words under his breath before settling beside Ripple. They both fell asleep rather quickly, Ripple's breath unsteady and shaky, her heart missing a few beats every now and then. It was not very difficult to tell she was injured.
