I keep having to fail quests because people who want to have an item gallery put items in their shop for extremely expensive prices. An item gallery might help prevent this from happening, so I like this idea.

I love this idea. It's very annoying seeing impossibly priced items in shops. I would like to display some of my rare travels as well
mitch • 23 March 2023 at 11:27 AM
I agree! Having a gallery to display your items would be great and no more extremely expensive items filling the user shops
dragongirl02 • 27 March 2023 at 5:58 AM
Yes, I agree this would be helpful in a batch of those gallery shops. It gets a bit annoying would rather see an empty user shop search. It makes it a little harder to do quests, especially if you are trying to quickly clear out the site's Daily tasks. Trying to do the quest/daily tasks before I go to sleep now. I had too many oops/close calls with rollover time running into something in real life.

Are quest collection objectives only for items that can be found in a shop at that exact time (including user shops)? Or are they for any item regardless of if it can be found or not at that point in time?
sparklefox • 28 March 2023 at 6:27 AM
@saturna - As far as I can remember, it asks for items that are currently in your inventory/strongroom or are in stock in any shop (which includes user shops) at that exact moment. (I might be wrong, though. Don't quote me on this.)

definitely support this idea! i didnt realize the quests wouldnt ask for an item you didnt have unless it was in a shop. that explains the 99,999,999 antler biscuits.guess i'll save myself the trouble and start abandoning quests from now on. helpful thread
duskitty • 7 April 2023 at 8:55 PM
Adding my support for this idea and seconding what everyone else is saying; it starts to become grating when the only shop selling the item you need for a quest is priced impossibly high due to the shop owner using their shop as a gallery.
mintyminny98 • 12 April 2023 at 2:40 PM
Please I would love this ;-; it's so discouraging to try and cram questing and having to waste an hour because an item you need is like 999 999 EC D: Implementing a Gallery asap would really help questing become less of a hassle

We should definitely get somewhere to display items, it's hard to show off a collection when it's in a creature's item collection. It would be much nicer to have a place to display items with a lot of control over how they're displayed (like maybe you want to create a gradient or something with travels?). Posting for support!

@ianHonestly - users using the user shops as Galleries is getting a bit old. The use of the user shops is to sell items. Yet, when I try to do vend quests I sometimes only find the item priced at 99-100million.Granted - I could just drop the quest - but I find it rather ridiculous that we continue to have that issue. If people want to show of their *still in item shops regularly* not even retired, or CSP items - there should be a Gallery area that's just like shops - except not for purchasing. I get that people can set their own prices for items, but..... 90mill + (or 9000cc+ if we go by common conversion) is a bit.... m u c h, even if it was a CSP/retired item.

If it is true that display items are being suggested in quests because of their placement in user shops, I do feel that there is some sort of problem here. It's a problem that I could see potentially become worse as more users use their shops for display cases to show off their collections (In that more often quests will ask for items that at that moment can only be found in one location-- that being on display in someone's shop listed under an exorbitant price)
riceboysleeps • 5 May 2023 at 9:15 AM
i have seen more and more users have items for a bazillion ec and then those items are requested in quests and I have to fail the quest. it would be nice to have galleries so that players don't do this

Additional information has come up since I last posted here:Since they have up the quest task difficulty by adding a second item to the ice cream task without warning, I frown when the quests ask me for an item in a gallery-only shop item. It's a problem with what most assume is an RNG item system. So anything in any user's shop appears to count, which includes gallery-only shops. I usually end up racing against the clock; for example, I had 30 minutes to race against the clock with 12 quests (this happened Tuesday night for me ) before rollover. Luckily, it only asked for one gallery item, so I could complete the 12 quests that time and just had to do one of the other quests an extra time to get around it; the race against the clock was highly stressful. Imagine if three of those quests had asked for gallery-only items. That would have forced me to use the 2nd skip day. Had I not goofed Monday, I may have just used the 1st skip day instead of enduring that extreme stress. I am avoiding using the 2nd skip day in case I need it for Mother's Day. Plus, my Monday goofs will likely continue to happen since the timezone offset shifts for me, so in the spring/summer, the hours before rollover cause conflict with real-life stuff.

I ha no idea until reading the posts here that quest item-asks may depend on if the item is available somewhere... I really thought it was just pure RNG. I'd like to test that now, because I *feel* like I've been asked for things not in my strongroom *or* in user shops at all, but I already did my 12 quests for today an I'm not doing more lol. Regardless, it honestly frustrates me almost on a personal level when I see 'display shops'. And there is a difference between absurdly-high-prices and 'display' shops, I've seen shops with big 'DO NOT BUY' warnings and *that* is what's just not right. If you deliberately put it into your user *shop*, you should expect that someone may want to buy it. And I totally understand wanting to show off your collection, have a display of your favorite items or whatever, I understand that. But wanting that, and not having a viable feature for it, should *not* mean hijacking a feature meant for a totally different purpose. Of course it's been like this for so long (I gather) that the real question is, if a 'display case' type of feature is implemented, will users *actually* switch their 'display store' over to the new feature? I feel like, to actually make a difference in the frustrations over display-only shops, implementing a new feature like this would have to come with some sort of official 'don't use shops for this' from staff, and I really can't see that happening.

I kinda sped read through the comments and I don't think anyone has mentioned this thought I had. If it has been mentioned I'm sorry to put it in here again. I agree with having the display case for multiple reasons. First I too am plagued by the 27 million EC for a cookie that I need for a quest and can't find anywhere else problem. Secondly I have quite a few CC travels that I don't want to sell, but I don't mind letting people borrow them for the intent of using on a creature and then returning. It could be helpful for those that want to complete the collection on their creatures profile.
snowywinter • 11 June 2023 at 11:26 PM
@nitch oooh, I like the idea of being able to display what CC travels I have available to loan! (and easily network with other people if I ever want to borrow one. There's been a few times there's CC travels I've wanted a creature to wear for a short time.)
musical_slytherclaw • 17 August 2023 at 12:56 PM
I love this idea! and I had no idea that quest items were based on this too, I just got a quest today that I couldn't complete because two people were using their shops as a display.no hate to anyone who does that! just frustrating that there are no other ways to display items. I collect quite a few myself so it'd be helpful 😊
thaesda • 26 August 2023 at 11:20 PM
There definitely needs to be a gallery!
daisycat • 12 November 2023 at 6:09 PM
Showing my support for this again. 😊I'd imagine it to be the same coding of a shop, except simpler! No links / items are not clickable, and, no prices. Additionally, having links at the top for various sections would be great, so players can have multiple gallery themes. Very similar to cove lists where you give them names and sort the order. A player could have their gallery feature links like My Favorite Items, Coffee and Tea Collection, CC Travels, etc. Though I think it would be nice to have the items fill the whole page for each section, rather than be in a scrolling box like cove lists. The possibilities are endless and there's so much room for creativity. Not to mention, there is the perfect spot for a Gallery link on user profiles, too! Next to the Shop link and under the SARC Fund link. ^^

Ian posted a while ago that they're looking into it, hopefully it'll happen soon!Under the Today's Feeds Improved blog post Ian said "item shops and galleries are ideas swirling around right now, promise!"
