Nin felt a cool breeze on her skin, making her shiver. Sitting on top of one of the lower class buildings she was keeping an eye on the narrow streets below her.
Her latest Job wanted her to find out what was going on with the missing royals. Well not exactly, but that was what it came to.
Suddenly a noise and some movement caught her attention. A girl, about her own age, ran through the alleys.
Nin's cat-tail wiggled in excitement, as she lept down the roof and sped after the girl.
Maybe today would bring up a lead...

Tess sat out on the street, it was a cold morning. Her robes were torn and thin. She held a sign that said. "Will work for food and shelter." There were days she wished she didnt go into hiding and days she was glad she did. Today was a day she wished she hadn't. She saw many messangers and servents. None would come her way. She felt her barless feet tingle and freeze. "Oh great, frostbite again." she thought to herself trying to warm them.

Mau put her hood over her head. She had to stay hidden. She walked through the open air market and sat down in an empty booth. She raised a sign that said "PALM READINGS" sure enough, a man walked up. He handed her some money. "What can you tell me about my future?" he asked. Mau rubbed her temples and clutched his hand. "I see...you will be fooled." "Huh? Tell me more--" Mau grabbed the money and sprinted away. "STOP! THIEF!" he yelled. She kept running. Mau smiled to herself.

Edgar sighed and pumped the fan harder. The fire flared up, creating a pleasant wave of heat. It was one of the more typical jobs that he was assigned. The Clubinne family seemed to delight in giving him odd jobs that involved running about and talking to people, which Edgar hated. He contemplated for perhaps the 100th time what it would be like if he wasn't a servant. And perhaps the Clubinnes were his servants. Yes, he would like that very much.

"Quit dozing off!"

Edgar resumed his pumping with new vigor. He had to, or else he would be left on the streets, with nothing. For all of his hard work, he received a piece of stale bread and a cup of water everyday, and permission to sleep in the stables with the horses. His last payment was not so bad, because although he loved all animals, he felt especially akin to horses, perhaps because they were both worked so hard, only to receive the right to live. A bit of the Clubinne's chatter reached Edgar's ears. Something about a missing royal named Vivibelle. Edgar retched internally at the sound of her name.

At the end of the day, Edgar retreated to the stables and slept restlessly, as usual, in the hay, careful to avoid a stray hoof that might nail him in the stomach.

"STOP, THIEF!!" Sarah heard as she walked though the market.
She had woken up and went to the market to buy some veggies. A girl couldn't live on meat soup alone.
Sarah dodged to the side,clutching her bag of veggies, as she was almost run over by the thief.
"People these days." Sarah laughed, micking the maids she works with.

Edgar woke to the sound of braying horses. The horseman looked at him. "I see that you've woken up. Lady Clubinne told you to go by some food at the market." The horseman pressed a couple of whole coins into Edgar's hand, and gave him a shopping list. "Chop chop, you haven't got all day!" Edgar ran off towards the market.

Sarah walked to a bakery, and sat there for a moment, taking in the sweet smells. Pastries were expensive, and usually only royals got to eat them.
Sarah once snuck a cookie out of the bakery, and almost got caught in the process.
Though, it was worth it.

Jackie sat at the windowsill of the second floor. She watched as the epople pured into the plaza, some headed to the bazaar to buy fresh new produce, others to gossip about the new latest trends. Some were chasing others about, shouting.
She sighed but waited patiently for the next request




{It's a town on the bay: always cool, but never too cold or too hot. Like SanFran. Just the right temp all the time.
I doubt they can farm if they're a water based town. Maybe really far inland. Think Venice & Amsterdam with all their canals & waterways}

When Edgar reached the market, he began his work. Lady Clubinne liked to send him to these jobs because he was small and often looked sickly, and the merchants would often allow him to haggle with him. That was the first reason. The second reason was that he could also steal produce. Edgar sank into the shadows next to a tomato stand. A girl walked up to buy, and Edgar quickly grabbed two tomatoes and moved on. He moved towards a man selling zucchinis. Edgar held up three fingers and the man chose three zucchinis for him and motioned for Edgar to give him a two whole pieces. Edgar shook his head and offered a whole piece and a quarter piece. He knew he was pushing it, but the man eventually approved, and Edgar made his way to the next stand for some more bargaining.

Sorry guys that I'm late 😊 Anyways, here we go 😊

Keeran was sitting on his bed, gently strumming the strings of his explorer. Guitar was all but new, with toxic green tribal stickers close to falling off. You couldn't get a guitar like that anymore. Not after technology outlaw. He envied people who had lived before him and could go on the concerts of all those great rock bands. He only heard a few distorted songs from badly scratched up CDs, so most melodies he played was those he came up by himself. As minutes went by, sound from his amplifier grew weaker and he knew that it's power will soon be depleted. Too lazy to turn the charger again he put his guitar aside and walked up to the window. His room was on top of high elegant building that high class people lived in. He knew that only reason he got the room with best view was the fact that three floors below were empty, therefore he couldn't snoop on his father's business. "God.. It's time to escape from this place..", he thought to himself. "At least for a little while.." He put his guitar under his bed. Something was telling him that he won't see it for a long long time. He decided to go out on the street despite all warnings his mother told him. He knew high class people kept disappearing but at that moment, he couldn't care less. He tucked his Eight of Spades in his jacket and went down the stairs.

Edgar had managed to save himself a whole piece and an eighth piece and he walked up to a stall selling bread and bought a slice of the aromatic loaf. Fresh bread was expensive, however, and he was left with an eighth piece, which he redeemed for a cup of water. He stole another tomato and retreated to the Clubinne House, where he left his purchases and then began eating the extra tomato.

Sarah checked her pockets. "I'm pretty low on coins." she thought grimly to herself.
Sarah started towards her favorite street coner,put out a hat, and started to play a flute. She was okay at it, and got a few coins.

Walk down the stairs seemed like eternity. That gave Keeran enough time to think about the missing royals. "Who could be behind this? Could it be the queen? Nobody knows anything about her anyway. She might feel threatened by the royals and decided to kidnap their family members to keep the in check?" Keeran shook his head, deep in thoughts. "Nah it's probably just group of commoners trying to get some ransom. Those pests should get purged from this town" Tender grin appeared on his face. He never liked commoners. They filled up the streets with filth, they begged at every corner and always caused trouble. By thinning out their numbers, both commoners and royals would profit. He sneaked past the guard at the ground floor as he knew he wouldn't let him out. Successfully avoiding him he reached the lobby. Luckily doorman was on break and he was free to go. "Here we go.. To the 'beautiful' world.." He mumbled sarcastically to himself as he opened the door .

Sarah saw the small change that was slowly building up in the hat.
Sarah then started to dance to no music, but it drew a small crowd anyway.
Mostly, it was because of her looks, which she sometimes wished she didn't have. Either way, she got her coins, so it was okay.

Jackie glanced up as she noticed a door opening, and noticed a boy standing there.
Oh. It was one of them. Those people with the high and mighty air about them. Thinking that they were so good and all.
She chuckled. They were so blind in their own way.
"Hey! What's up with that face? Is there a sign on everyone's face sayin' that you're ugly or something?" she asked mockingly

"What is that that you're eating?"

Edgar jumped up. He was savoring his tomato, and didn't notice Miss Clubinne come up to him. She was the Lady's daughter, and she always spoke to servants in a sickeningly sweet mocking voice. She was younger than him, and always wore the most repulsive clothes. Edgar scowled at her and replied through a mouthful of tomato "Extra tomato."

"Why didn't you give it to Mama?"

"She didn't ask for a third tomato."

"Well, you know that stealing is not allowed, and I'm positive that you stole that tomato."

Edgar rolled his eyes. His ability to steal extra produce was one of the Lady's favorite qualities in him. But he would never give her the extra goods he stole. "How do you know that I didn't just haggle it?"

"I'm /positive/." the Miss stuck her nose in the air and stalked off to find her Mama.

Keeran was greeted by his "beautiful" world. Up above, in his room, he felt so safe and clean. Now outside, strange, but always same, feeling came to him. His skin felt itchy and his mood went down. With corner of his eye he saw ordinary girl, about same age as him, giggling. He didn't care so much, "Let her have her fun", he thought. He kept on going along the street, on his way to marketplace. He was aware he would have to squeeze through crowd of not-so-clean commoners to get some snack but he felt it was wiser not to flash his Eight of Spades and request people to move. "One has to be careful nowadays." He thought and hoped nobody will notice he is from high class. At least his old leather jacket didn't seem too classy, or at least he hoped so.

"Ouch!" Kerran cried out as flying object hit his head. Still with painful expression on his face he turned to direction pebble came. He was shocked when he saw that his assaulter was the same giggling girl from before. "Are you MAD? Do you even KNOW who I am?!" He screamed angrily at her.

Edgar was assigned shoveling coals. He blanched at the idea of spending his time down in the hot stuffy coal room, and as soon as he got down there, he promptly snuck out.

It felt good breathing fresh air again as he strolled through the plaza. He saw a boy with a leather jacket and a high and mighty air about him. A royal. Edgar avoided him, and grabbed a newspaper. He wasn't very literate, but he could make out the same message that the Clubinnes were chattering about the night before. Another royal had gone missing.

Sarah looked though her earnings.
There were a few measly coins, but not enough to go to the Inn. Sarah sighed. She had to spend the night in an alley.

She laughed her head off.
"Of course!~ You're that big headed fool who thinks his cards makes him much better then everyone else!"
The grin disappeared from her face as her eyes narrowed. Her voice dropped to a low hiss.
"You know what? There's still much of this city that you don't know about. Playing your little guitar in your room all day won't show you anything...
"You'll have to EARN this card."
Into the crowds she ran off waving a card, an 8 of Spades, in the air above her head...

Edgar was swept by the crowd as they migrated away from a girl carrying an 8 of Spades. The royal he had seen earlier was fuming with anger. Edgar took the opportunity to steal a piece of bread, and with all of the commotion, no one noticed.

"You little... How did you do that?! Hey come back!" Keeran yelled as he chased after the girl. He knew that without that card, he will be treated like any commoner. Or worse.. He will meet the Joker. He started searching through crowd, every commoner looked pretty much the same to him. After some minute of searching, he slowly started to panic. He needed help. But he was all alone here. Even if he could find someone to help him, nobody would believe him in first place.

Keeran was panting from all the running. Being of high class and living life of being served all day and not lifting a finger resulted in very low stamina.

"C'mon.. Please.. Come down.. Can we talk? I have money! Loads of money!" Keeran said with pretty desperate look on his face.

Keeran growled in anger as girl walked out on him. "Okay, she wants chase, she'll get one" Keeran rushed inside building and started climbing stairs. He felt like his legs will fall off as he wasn't used to any workout. He reached second floor and looked around breathing heavily.
