Once Lauri appeared to be sleeping, Jade silently rose into a sitting position, plotting her possible death. But she glanced at Lauri's sword warily.
Jade could sneak out with the necessary supplies, light one of her matches up and leave it to burn on the tent, then hop into the water, her territory, and if Lauri decides the water is her only safety from the fire, Jade can drown her easily.
Decisions, decisions.
Or Lauri can die in the hands of another, and if its away from camp, I can inherit her supplies.
But Jade slunk silently back into her sleeping position, knife below blanket.

The sun is casting long shadows and a breeze sets in.

I open my eyes to see orange light seeping into the tent. I notice that at the bottom there is a black splotch and I vaguely wonder what it is.
It get's closer, and the orange light behind it moves, and I see that the tent is not fully zippered up.
I mumble something to Jade to zip it up, because I just gotten comfy, but it's almost inaudible.

The black thing reminds me of something before, and it's on the tip of my tongue, but right when I think of it, a bird chirps out and I lost it completely.
The black thing get's closer and closer, and I cover the sleeping bag over my head.
I feel the sensation of something crawling, and then being... pinched? "Pincher bug" I mutter allowed. It finally hits me the capitol must have thought the day was too dull, and sent the mutts out.
I reach for my sword.

GAMEMAKER NOTE:
Time skip. It's now nighttime, and the (waning crescent) moon is out. However, the stars are shining unusually brightly, so it's not too difficult to see unless you're in a place where not as much light reaches. The temperature is cool, but not particularly cold. Because the first day was slightly dull, the game makers will be sending a couple flocks of muttations throughout the arena soon. The mutts are large, black crows with sharp claws and beaks. There are quite a few of them. Fire repels them-torches and campfires, not tiny flames like matches-if you're lucky enough to have a fire already going. They will also be trying to steal supplies by grasping the objects with their claws. Please note that there will be multiple birds after each tribute, not just one. Also, they will be dispersed throughout the entire area, so pretty much everyone will encounter them. Sorry.

Although, the pincher bugs were in the arena since the beginning of the Games, if I remember correctly, and your character already encountered them. 😉

Wait, what? xD The river is all the way in the forest, and Melody is in the grass where the pond is. It's more than a day's walk from the river to the pond, even if your character is fast. ;] Would you mind re-typing your previous post, as I'm a little confused at what's going on. 😋

Uhh, I think Lauri, Trish, Melody, and Tess are all in the grass, and Hash is in the hills. xD I think your charrie was in the grass the last time you posted, although I really don't know. I posted a Gamemaker note up there, which pretty much explains what's happening at the moment. 😉

Sylvia held her breath as she took quick, silent steps through the grass. She suddenly stopped, and swung her head around when she heard some breathing. She scanned her surroundings, and her gaze landed on a boy leaning back and sleeping. She recognized him as an District 10 tribute, and held her spear tightly with her right hand, while swinging her backpack onto her left shoulder.

Sylvia slowly edged towards him, and stopped when she was a few feet away. What was his name again? All she could remember was that it started with an H.

Jade rolled her eyes.
"This is what you do." And slashed at the creature with her knife. "You let other people kill it."
But now her knife was covered in bug juice. Ew.
"I'm gonna go clean my knife with some water from the pond. Go dispose of this thing."
And with that, she left the tent.
Outside, she squinted in the night looking for anyone or anything, scanning for danger. When none was found, she splashed some water onto her knife and wiped it against a leaf.

I went outside to get a leaf, then picked the mutt up, using it as a glove, but there was still bug juice in the tent.
I sighed, not knowing what to do and how to get rid of it.
I went out side to get one of the absorbent leafs to clean it up.

I went to pluck some of the leaves, but got distracted by my surroundings.
Before there was a forest, filled with tons of trees. (No wai I didn't know forest had trees?!?!?!?!)
My the surrounding area is lush, and there are a few trees, because the pond we are next to gives off water. One of the trees surrounding us has a flock of birds that are black, much darker than groosling.
I walk back to my tent to clean up the mess, but suddenly, my right shoulder gets a very hard impact.
A huge black bird, most likely a mutt, is clinging to my left shoulder with it's needle like claws and I can't help letting out a yelp of pain.
Jade is by the lake, and I call for her to help.
The bird is still clinging to my shoulder while it's pecking at my back.
I try to take it off, but it's hold it to firm on meh. D:

Melody ~ 11

The sun has completely disappeared behind the grasses. The sky darkens, revealing a crescent moon. Twinkling stars come into view, but their light is strangely bright. This leads me to come to the conclusion that these stars are not real. But their light allows me to see even in the darkness of the night; this is fortunate.

As far as my knowledge extends, there have not been any deaths today. Yet. I'm starting to feel uncomfortable, and I begin to notice the growing hunger in my stomach as well as how thirsty I am. I had already drained the water bottle I had picked up from the Cornucopia, so I decide to refill it.

"Tess, I'm going to go get some water," I say, beginning to head off toward the pond. I know that Jade and Lauri will be somewhere near there, but it's nighttime now and I'll be across from their camp. They are probably some of the most dangerous tributes, so I hope to avoid them.

Jade looked past her shoulders to see a huge bird clinging onto Lauri. She looked around for her bow and arrows, but that was in the tent that was being pecked at.
Then her racing thoughts were interrupted as one of the birds made a wild grab with its claws for the knife Jade was holding.
She wrestled the knife back, but was thrown back into the pond due to gravity.

Melody ~ 11

As I make my way toward the pond, I realize that I'm feeling pretty safe despite the fact that two tributes aren't far away. Today has actually been pretty good, so far, for the Hunger Games. My worst injury is a bug bite, which has caused by leg to become stiff and numb.

I'm treading through the tall grass and nearing the pond, making a noticeable amount of noise with my injured leg, when I begin to hear a cawing noise echo throughout the arena. I turn around as it grows louder, and a large black animal flies right into my face, scratching my cheek. I tumble over, and they begin to attack me.

The bird wasn't gonna get the best of her.
She grabbed its body, despite the protest of clawing at her wrists, and took it with her in the water to drown.
The first blood shed by her during the Games was flowing freely in the water. She released the bird when she thought it finally started dying, and glanced at her wrists again.
She'll have to patch it up. She stayed in the pond, only to remember Lauri was out there. Oops.
