Midnight looked at Shadow with a sad look. She gave a small nod, her eyes lost their spark. "That's right." Ponyville was one of the worst decisions of her life. She was totally bored, nopony treated her fairly, and she loved Canterlot much better.

"And that's the game!" Discord clapped his hands together, thrusting the room into darkness. As the ponies watched, random shapes appeared around the room, glowing in vibrant colors. "Now, moving on. This game is called, 'Truth Laser Tag'. Everypony has a vest, correct? No?" Discord snapped, suiting everypony in a tight vest with a laser shooter in a holster along the side. A large target was on the front and back of each suit."There you go! As I was saying, we're playing Truth Laser Tag. The rules are as follows. Every laser gun can only be fired after saying a truth about the pony you're firing at. 3 hits will render a pony unconscious, kicking them out of the game. However, if you say a false truth about the pony, you'll become unconscious for 30 seconds. Make sense? The winner of the game, like Lightning, can go free!"

Make sense, guys? 😊

Aster sat down, glaring at Discord reproachfully.
"No," she said stubbornly. "I am nothing but a part of Umberisk; I have no past so to speak."

Umber, meanwhile, was advancing on Umberisk with unsheathed claws.
"Oh, this will be fun," she growled.

Umberisk trembled; she had found fear somehow. Ever closer drew the huge red and black dragon, accross whose face played an insane grin. Umberisk curled tighter upon herself, waiting.
Then a familiar tune was ringing through her ears; Umber had started singing.
"Hajime to owari no iranai imi, kono kokoro no jouhatsu eto. Dare ga hinsei wo oboeteru ka? Kyouki no mada kara, sayonara! Ko-o-onnichiwa-a-a watashi, a-a-anaka-a-atta darou. Sa-a-ayounara-a-a anata, sa-a-aa hanashi-i-i shiyou ka?"
Umberisk felt it ringing through her veins; swelling in her chest until she could no longer bear it. She joined in:
"iNSaNiTY, fusou shisou desu! PSYCHoPaTHY, nonki na jinsei! iNSaNiTY, owarenai madoi! CaPTiViTY, nigerarenai! iNSaNiTY, fusou shisou desu! PSYCHoPaTHY, nonki na jinsei! iNSaNiTY, owarenai madoi! CaPTiViTY, odaku ga tsudzuke sou!"

All Umberisk knew was the music. Her voice mingled with Umber's, ringing out clearly through the deserted hall.

The plot thickens!!!

After a short walk, Lightning and the mare arrived at her spa. It was on the far outskirts of Ponyville, among many old ruins from before Luna's Banishment. It was funny, Lightning couldn't remember there having been a spa there before, but there it was. It was kind of an odd place to build one, but she didn't question it. She was absorbed in rubbing against the mare's fur, which still had the same amazing smell as before. The mare pushed open the door, and Lightning walked in with her. Inside was a very beautiful, new-looking spa, with pale-shaded ponies manning stations filled with seaweed wraps, hooficure supplies, and a whole bunch of treatments that Lightning didn't even know the names of. When she walked in, a few ponies swarmed her, giving her a warm welcome. She smiled slightly lazily at them, then turned her eyes away, taking it all in. One of the ponies walked up to Lightning, a white unicorn with a very pale pink mane. "May I please take your jewelry?" She asked, her voice sounding like a lesser version of the mare's beautiful honey-rich voice. Lightning nodded, unfocused, and the unicorn and a white pegasus with a pale green mane gently removed the necklaces from Lightning's neck and the crown from her head. Lightning felt very free when they were gone, like she had just gotten rid of a very large weight. She felt like the necklaces were very important for some reason, but couldn't put her hoof on what. She decided to put the thought out of her mind. After all, she was in a spa, and was here to relax. A few other ponies came and gently led Lightning towards the main spa area. She felt a twinge of discomfort as she was taken away form the beautiful mare, but it quickly faded. A pony began gently kneading her back, and all of her thoughts gradually slipped away...

I'm gonna be gone for a week, cleaning house and stuff now that school's out, but I'll try to respond as fast as I can.

Umberisk felt a nudge from Umber's overlarge talons, and began to sing alone.
"Ne, doko de atta koto ga nai ka? Ne, itoshii kimi ta hanashitai. Ne, jikan wa? Kyou wa? Wakarenai! Ne! Wassurete shimaeba yokatta? iNSaNiTY, fusou shisou da! PSYCHoPaTHY, nonki na jinsei! iNSaNiTY, yami ka? Hikari ka?
iNSaNiTY, iNSaNiTY....."

Aster felt it coursing through her, liquid desire to join in. Her resistance broke away and she joined in. This time, though, it was only her:
"sAnItY, mou mienai kuno. pUrItY, motto nagai hibi. sAnItY, sore mou shizumanakya. 'sAnItY?' ...Tte nani desu ka?"
Umberisk and Umber joined in now.
"iNSaNiTY, fusou shisou desu! PSYCHoPaTHY, nonki na jinsei! iNSaNiTY, owarenai madoi! CaPTiViTY, nigerarenai! iNSaNiTY, fusou shisou desu! PSYCHoPaTHY, nonki na jinsei! iNSaNiTY, owarenai madoi! CaPTiViTY, odaku ga tsudzukeroooooo!"
And they had finished.
A single word reverberated through Aster's mind as it rang through the door:
"Again?"

"You can't just say no! You know what, fine. That's how we'll play it." Discord slammed Aster to the floor by a rush of air, pinning her there. "You can just lie here for the rest of the games. The rest of them all. And you'll never leave. Not ever. Feel free to sing again, if you'd like. If and when you want to resume the game, just give me a shout. Now, for the rest of you! Start playing."

Ooo, Discord's getting mean! You guys had better watch your backs! 😃


P.S. I'm going on a trip and won't be back until Monday, see you guys then!

Aster felt the ground rush towards her, and suddenly was pinned there. Panic bubbled up inside her, engulfing her slowly until she felt she could not breathe. She writhed and screamed as though the floor was hurting her as terror swallowed her up.
"This..." she growled through gritted teeth, "is.... why.... I... would not.... be happy.... in.... chains.... or.... tight... spaces...."

Umberisk gasped as fear swelled up inside her, bubbling into a tide of terror that had no reasonable source. But it felt distant, muffled. Then she realized: Aster was in trouble. She relayed this to Umber, who giggled and made a song suggestion. Umberisk giggled and agreed. As a pair, they stood and crossed through the bars of the cage, able to do such as they had no bad feelings at the moment.
They morphed as one into cats and begin scratching at the door. "We're ready to be peaceable!" they called between giggles.

Sure enough, the white pony was coughing and spluttering as though she had something caught in her throat.
Umber giggled; she loved chaos as much as Discord, if not more.

Lightning is on different time than you guys, can we just say that time is in flux because of Discord? 😊

After a relaxing day of spa treatment, the beautiful mare came back and smiled down at Lightning, who was lying on one of the treatment beds after finishing a mud facial. Lightning felt a huge wave of peace and lethargy come over her with the mare's gaze. "Are you ready to go to sleep?" The mare asked, her voice sounding almost more beautiful than it had before. Lightning nodded, her head feeling like a huge weight on her neck. She lifted her hooves up like a small foal asking to be carried up to bed after staying up late. The mare had a few other ponies carry Lightning down some corridors and a lot of turns. Lightning felt her eyelids droop. There was no way she was going to remember the route that they took in the morning. The ponies helped her into one of the rooms and set her down on the bed. They exited quietly, and Lightning was alone with the beautiful mare. She opened her eyes, which she hadn't even realized were closed, and gasped. The room was beautiful. She lay on a large wooden four-poster bed with sweeping pale pink sheets that was elevated one step above the rest of the floor. The room was made of stone, making it look almost like a medieval castle. Across the room from the bed there was a dresser and a vanity, which were also made of wood. A small bedside table stood next to her bed with a lamp covered in a pink shade and a copy of "The Adventures of Lightning Hoof", her favorite book from her foalhood. She remembered talking to her parents one day when she was still a filly, begging for a room just like this. They had said it was too expensive and would be very hard to build in their home of Cloudsdale. And here she was, in the room of her dreams. It was perfect. The mare noticed Lightning's shock and leaded close to her. "Is everything alright?" She asked kindly. Lightning just nodded, lost for words. The mare smiled down at her again and laughed lightly. She gently lay Lightning down on the soft, silky pillows and pulled the covers around her. "Now, I think it's time for you to go to sleep." The mare said soothingly and crossed to the bedside table, turning off the lamp. Lightning tried to call out, to thank the mare for this beautiful room and her amazing day, but she could feel another wave of fatigue passing over her, stronger than the last. She felt so tired...

Pepper suddenly realized that he was kind of a sitting duck. He zipped to a dark corner of the room and started thinking. What were the truths about the other ponies?? He couldn't quite remember.

Meanwhile, Pepper was still confused. Since he couldn't remember any real truths about the ponies, he decided to just go for the obvious. He pointed his gun at Shadow and shouted, "You're a pegasus!".

Shadow glared viciously at Pepper, malice in her eyes before she retaliated. She would win. She would leave. She despised Discord. Suddenly a malicious grin played across her face as Shadow remembered Pepper's most embarrassing truth. She pointed her laser and shot in return, yelling; "You have a crush on Lightning!"

"Gah!" Pepper felt a slight buzzing as the truth hit him. He tried not to blush, but the tips of his cheeks turned pink. Then they turned red with anger. There was no need for Shadow to go around yelling out truths like that about him. He flew up to Shadow and swung his gun at her head, feeling a magical force field stop him right before he finished his swing.
"That's quite enough violence, Pepper." Discord snapped his fingers and Pepper felt his joints lock up as the suit froze around him. "Now you're unconscious for about 1 minute. Sound good? Good."
Midnight felt a tremor as she too was hit by a truth. This game was going to be a bit of a struggle for her, she never managed to say the truth easily.

"Eep!" Though Shadow could talk the talk, all of her bravery was shot down as the red earth pony went to take a whack at her head. Her front hooves instantly covered her head as she cowered before the stallion.

"That's quite enough violence, Pepper. Now you're unconscious for about a minute. Sound good? Good." Discord's voice rang out. Shadow was grateful as she carefully removed her hooves from her head and glanced Discord's way a bit confused. Hm. Maybe he wasn't all bad like most ponies thought. Either way, Shadow had to leave. She pointed her gun - which was shaking in her hoof - at Midnight again. Who else was there? It's not like she knew anything about Umberisk. "You're a unicorn!" She shouted. Quickly the color began to drain from her face as she realized that she remembered nearly nothing. She cursed under her breath and moved away from Pepper, hiding behind a chair to appear unnoticeable as she waited for her opponents to knock each other out of the game. Then she'd go in for the kill.

Pepper floated in the air, counting in his head until he could strike again. '5, 6, 7...'
Midnight trembled again as another wave of the truth hit her, harder then before. She knew she had to get out there, now! She flew out into the middle of the dark room, squinting around for other ponies. Her eyes lighted upon Pepper who was floating ten feet to her left. She pointed her gun and choked out, "You're a.. a... earth pony?"
'29, 30..' Pepper lost count as this truth shook him in the air.

Shadow cowered under a table that was.. Floating. Geez, she'd been stupid enough to forget about the gravity. No matter. It wasn't like anyone could see her unless they looked real hard. She noticed Pepper's cutie mark... Was he awake yet? Could she shoot if be wasn't? Oh well! She longed her gun as she saw him shift (sorry if it's a god-mod!) and begin to wake up. Perfect. "Your cutie mark is a sword!"

Pepper felt a twitch as his suit loosened up. Perfect. He shifted, luxuriating in the motion... until a blast of the truth knocked him down, followed by a soft cushion of air pinning him to the floor.
"And Pepper's out of the game!" Discord cried with glee.
Midnight knew that this was her chance. She turned her gun on the couch where the blast that had hit Pepper came from and shouted triumphantly, "You're an Unicorn!" Wait a minute. That wasn't right. She felt her suit close up around her as she prepared to wait for 30 seconds.

Shadow took a shakey breath. One more truth and she'd win, right? She tried to catch a peek at the mare's flank. Bingo.

The moment the suit began to wake up, Shadow struck with her final truth;

"Your cutie mark is a white shell!"

Guilt instantly hit her like a bullet, and Shadow gulped. Another pony stuck here... Did she win? Could she leave? The filly struggled to remember whether or not Umberisk and her forms were playing as well.

It had been so easy. That final truth. The mark on the unicorn's flank had been stark white against her black coat.

Midnight felt herself fall to the ground as the final truth hit her. The same air cushion pinning the other ponies to the ground attacked her as well.
"Well done Shadow. You win the game." Discord applauded and floated up to her. "Oh, and did I mention that I lied?" Discord snapped again and the ponies suddenly found themselves in birdcages hanging from the ceiling. Discord hovered over to the caged containing Umberisk, Umber and Aster and said, "Just so you know, those are shape-shift proof. You can't just escape by becoming cats or whatever." He then turned to face the other ponies. "Sorry Shadow, but I already had one pony leave. That was just one too many."

Gahh! You ended the game so fast! I'll have to condense my really dramatic post now. ☹️ (Also, different time again!)

Time had passed. Days, weeks, months, years. She wasn't quite sure. She had once had a name. Something that she used to distinguish herself, something that proved she existed. She didn't remember what it was now. She had once had friends, but their names and appearances had long since faded away into the darkest corners of her mind. She didn't remember much before she had come to the spa, anyway. She had wings, but they were never used. She probably wouldn't fly even if she could recollect how. She did remember some patchy details of things that had happened after she entered this building. She remembered how she was pulled in by the promise of being happy again, of filling up that ache in her soul that had been there for as long as she could remember. There was no ache anymore, but there was no soul either. She remembered being pampered beyond her wildest dreams. Then, one day, she had stopped being pampered and started pampering others. She didn't know when that had happened, but that didn't matter. The only thing that did matter was that she was here right now.

She faced herself in the mirror that had once been part of the room of her dreams. Now it was just a room, all of the items in it barely used. She herself was just a pony. Her coat was white, her mane a very pale shade of blue. She was a ghost of herself, an imitation of what she had once been. She ran a hoof over her bare flank and shivered slightly.

She had once been a pony. Now she was just... empty.

"Did I forget to mention?" Discord waved his hands and bright spotlights lit up the dark room. "You've been on camera this entire time." A sound recording of laughter played on hidden speakers and Discord took a bow. "Come on ponies, say hello to Equestria!"
Midnight shrunk back in the corner of the cage. What was going on??
"Now, my little ponies, let me explain what's about to happen. You are about to enter a reality game show called, "Trapped on an Island". Basically you're all trapped on an island in the ocean and have to use your wits to survive while still being charming and likable for the audience. At the end of every day, the viewers will vote on the pony they liked the least. That pony will be 'taken away'. I can't say where, that would ruin the surprise! All you need to know is that you don't want to leave the island. Does everypony understand?"

Ok guys, here's the plan. We need people to vote! We can either have other EggCavers come here to read the story and vote, or we can use a random number generator. I personally think that the first one is more fun, but that's just my opinion. Let me know what you think! 😃

As soon as the cage closed around her, Shadow leapt at the bars. "Discord!" Her snarl rang out, echoing. Once realizing she was on camera, she looked around, hopefully stright into the hidden recorder. "Help!" She whispered, her face beginning to crumble. As Discord explained the new game, however, Shadow's rage was fired again, and she grinded her teeth. "No. I won my way out, you cheating nut! Lemme outta here!" Her hooves pounded against the bars. She wanted out so bad... No.. She didn't want to go to an island...

Umberisk shrugged. "Whatever," she said evenly. She was a wolf again. Her feathery tail swished nonchalantly. Umber, however, was laughing madly.
"A bird cage? Ooh, fun!" With that, she was a pony no more, rather a twittering songbird that flew around the cage, twittering in feigned distress.
Aster, at the moment a wolf like Umberisk, whispered something in Umberisk's ear.
"Oh, sounds good!" Umberisk replied. With that, she felt the words to a song swelling in her chest and she began to sing.
"I'm not a fans of puppeteers, but I've a nagging fear, someone else is pulling the strings! Something terrible is going down through the entire town, wreaking anarchy and all it brings." Umber ceased her fluttering and morphed back to her viscious wolf form and joined in, her melodious voice lacing through those of Umberisk and Aster. "I can't sit idly, though I can't move at all! I curse the name, the one behind it all..."
"DISCORD! I'm howling at the moon, and sleeping in the middle of a summer afternoon. DISCORD, whatever did we do to make you take our world AWAY?! DISCORD, are we your prey alone, or are we just a stepping stone to taking back the throne? DISCORD, we won't take it any more, so take your tyranny AWAY!"
"I'm fine with changing status quo, but not in letting go, now the world is being torn apart! A terrible catastrophe played by a symphony, what a terrifying work of art! I can't sit idly, no I can't move at all! I curse the name, the one behind it all! DISCORD, I'm howling at the moon, and sleeping in the middle of a summer afternoon. DISCORD, whatever did we do to make you take our world AWAY?! DISCORD, are we your prey alone, or are we just a stepping stone to taking back the throne? DISCORD, we won't take it any more, so take your tyranny AWAY! DISCORD, I'm howling at the moon, and sleeping in the middle of a summer afternoon. This is kinda confusing because no one has names, but every time I refer to "she", that's Lightning. The mare is called "the mare", and everyone else is named by descriptions.

She woke up, feeling slightly embarrassed about her thoughts last night (or had it only been a few minutes ago?). There was nothing she could do to change who she was now, so it was pointless to even think about. She headed down through the long hallways leading to the spa room. Every pony that worked here had their own room, the room that they had always wanted. She had never cared enough to see what was in any of the rooms besides hers. She made her way into the main spa room where she saw the many ponies that inhabited this building preparing for work. There were many ponies there, of all races. One thing that they all had in common was that they all had white coats, very pale colored manes, and no marks or names. Not that she had ever asked one of the other ponies for their name, or cared to find out. On the balcony overseeing the workers was the beautiful mare that she remembered had led her here. A long time ago, when her mane was still bright blue and she still had a destiny, she had tried to do anything she could to earn the mare's praise. Over time, she had come to realize that she was just part of the crowd, and the mare had gradually stopped noticing her as she became just another worker. The mare scanned the crowd, making sure that everything was in working order, then turned and left through the door behind her as she headed to her station. Today she was working with the same pale pink-maned unicorn that she had met when she first came to the spa. The unicorn explained that today they were going to be trying out a treatment, something with spices. She just nodded, ceasing to care about anything as she let the mindlessness of work surround her.
