Pepper decided not to wait for Lightning. He paced forward slowly until he nudged a wall. Then he turned around and, using his earth pony powers, bucked the wall as hard as he could. His efforts were for no avail though and the wall remained stationary.

"No, wait! It was four steps! Sorry!" Maybe she needed a new approach. She began flying upside down. Now she had a clearer view of the maze. She flew down until she landed in the maze, right in front of Pepper. "Here, just follow me!" She said and set off at a brisk trot.

"What? Oh no, I'm fine." She was starting to feel a little woozy, but shew wasn't going to tell Pepper that. He was so judgmental, she didn't want him to think she was weak. "Now, turn left here." She said, leading him through the complicated twists and turns of the maze.

Lighting finished leading Pepper out of the maze. It had looked way bigger when she was looking up at it. She was feeling very lightheaded. All of the blood was in her head. It was all she could do to even flap her wings. As she walked out of the exit, the world rotated around her until she was standing on the ground again. The motion made her really nauseous. That and the blood rushing in her head were enough to make her pass out again. She tried to make a sign to Pepper that she was fainting, but all she was able to get out was a small raspy gasp before her head hit the earth.

Pepper heard Lightning make a weird choking noise, then she collapsed onto the ground. That was weird. Well, at least he was out of the maze. He took a step forward and was blinded by a flash of light and a loud snapping noise. He heard the echo of talking, "I have some chaos to reek." Then a huge creature appeared in front of him. It looked like a cross between 100's of animals all mashed together. "Rats! This isn't Canterlot!" The beast raised its hand to snap its claws when it looked down and saw Pepper. "Ooo, another pony plaything!" It grabbed him around the waist with its paw, snapped, and everything went white.

Ooo, twist! Maybe they're heading to Canterlot? Hint hint.

Lightning Bolt awoke groggy. Where was she? Everything seemed kind of white-ish. She knocked herself on the head with her hoof and the whiteness cleared. She was lying on the ground, stretched out. She turned around and saw the maze behind her. She looked around for a few second before realizing what she was missing. Pepper had abandoned her. Just like everyone else in her life. Except, this time, she had wanted him to stay. She began trotting dejectedly away from the maze, kicking a rock with her hoof.

Pepper kicked and bit at the monster holding him. They had arrived in a huge city that was completely empty. Large towers in a castle design were everywhere, looking very strange with bright orange and green stripes. As Pepper was placed on the ground, he leaped forward to grab the creatures leg in his teeth, jerking short as if he was a pet on a leash. "Now, now, that's no way to behave."
Pepper growled. "Let go of me, beast!"
The 'beast' chuckled. "I suppose we haven't been properly introduced. I'm Discord, spirit if Chaos and Disharmony AKA ruler of your new world. And you are..."
Pepper wasn't listening. He was busy yanking on the invisible chain by running in all directions. Then a sharp force pulled him up into the air until he was looking the animal in the eye.
"Pay attention. I'm Discord. You're Pepper. Correct?"
"How did you know my name?" Pepper didn't trust this thng, this 'Discord'. He vaguely recognized that he was speaking normal again, which was a relief.
"Oh I know everything about you Pepper. You pride yourself in your strength and self reliance. You're never quick to accept or give help to another pony. Except that one... Lightning Bolt, was it?"
Pepper jolted a little. Maybe Discord could read minds! But he was reading it wrong. Pepper didn't help anypony.
"Ugg, such a slow talker. Come Pepper, lets walk together." Pepper felt himself being dumped rudely on the ground, leash still around his neck. The creature set off, yanking at the cord and forcing Pepper to follow.


That was long!! 😱

@cynder5 Silly, this was between seasons 2 and 3! Not null, not void. 😉

Anyways...

Pepper and Lightning got trapped inside a time lock and escaped by staying very still. Then they were trapped in a maze, Pepper was talking backwards and Lightning was upsides down and fainted twice. Now, Pepper has been captured by Discord and is in Canterlot while Lightning is thinking she was abandoned. No pony else was in the time lock, no pony else was in the maze, and no pony else is in Canterlot.

There you go! A real quick summary!

Lightning Bolt trudged, dejected, down the main street in Ponyville with her head down. It felt like there was a huge cloud hanging over her head. The chaos happening in Ponyville was just the backdrop to the chaos in Lightning's heart. She couldn't believe Pepper had just abandoned her. And she had been trying so hard! She considered trying to find his house so she could talk to him, but when she looked up she saw two houses playing hopscotch and gave up on the idea. She'd never be able to find him in all of this. And what would she say? No, it was better to move on. Lightning Bolt walked into her house and was shocked when she was met with a stallion dressing in a bathrobe who had obviously just gotten out of the shower. Lightning Bolt quickly flew back out of the window. Of course. If she couldn't find Pepper's house, how did she expect to find hers? She wouldn't have had much to take with her, anyway. She stood still for a few seconds, trying to decide where to go. Canterlot kept drawing her gaze, like a safe haven in a storm. Maybe the chaos would be gone there. Lightning Bolt lifted off of the ground and began flying, her wings making a rhythmical but depressing sound.

Pepper trotted through Canterlot at Discords side, feeling very angry. He was a pony, not a pet! Discord had been rambling on the whole time, talking about somepony named 'Twilight Sparkle' who was trying on her way to find the 'elements of harmony'. Apparently she was now 'trapped in the Canterlot prisons with all of her friends'. Whatever that meant. Pepper had no interest in talking about another pony. He just wanted to leave.

Not a lot of action, but lots of stuff about Twilight! So now Lightning can arrive (if she wants).

Lightning Bolt walked through the empty streets of Canterlot, looking for a medical store. She had gotten hit on her flight over by some flying fish and had some cuts on her leg. Hmm, Candy store, walking store, pet store, Pepper and some creature, flower store. Wait, Pepper? How did he get in Canterlot??? Even flying at top speed, Lightning had only just arrived. And the trains weren't working. She decided to casually walk by and see if he noticed her. She knew she was setting herself up for disappointment, but something in her just wanted to try. He probably wouldn't even recognize her, anyway.

Pepper was busy not listening to Discord when he saw a tiny flash of white on the corner of his eye. It looked like a pony, which was weird because apparently Canterlot had been 'evacuated by magic'. Pepper slowly turned his eyes to the left until he saw the pony walk by again. It was Lightning! How did she get here? He tried to think of something to do so she'd know he saw her and just settled for a sort of a hacking wheeze. Discord cut off mid sentence.
"Did you want to say something Pepper?"

Lightning walked down the street again, where it looked like Discord and Pepper were deep in conversation. Of course. She should have suspected that he was on Discord's side all along. Just when she was starting to actually like him, too. Well, that was the story of her life. She gave up on walking down the same street. She had seen all that she needed to. She wandered down the streets of Canterlot, vaguely wondering why they were so deserted. But honestly, she didn't really care. It looked like Discord was going to win this time. She hadn't even heard anything about the so called 'saviors' of Equestria, the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony. She guessed that they had given up too. She gave a heavy sigh and hung her head.

Rats! Lightning trotted away as fast as she had arrived, blatantly ignoring Peppers signal. Pepper groaned in defeat, then realized that Discord was still waiting for a response.
"Oh, umm nothing."
"Well, oook then." Discord way over exaggerated the o. "I'm tired of walking now." With a snap, Pepper was brought back to the palace.

After a long (and strangely tiring) walk, Lightning eventually ended up at the castle. Her hooves felt heavy, like there was something pulling down on them. It had been getting worse and worse as she neared the castle. She struggled to lift her hooves up the stairs. She made it to the front door of the castle when she became too exhausted to try and move. She curled up at the foot of the door and rested, wondering what was inside. It must be something big, and something Discord didn't want anypony to see. She couldn't help it, she was curious. She resolved to investigate after a short break.

Pepper landed in the ballroom and immediately felt himself being sucked to the floor. He fell and landed with a dull thud. He tried to twitch a hoof, but he was frozen.
"I... can't.. move." He groaned.
"Whoopsies." Discord snapped and suddenly Pepper was flying through the air. "There, now our gravity is off. Better?" Discord bounced off a wall and did a cartwheel.

Lightning Bolt pulled the castle door open, grunting with the strain. It was really heavy, she could barely open it enough to slip inside of the castle. Once she was inside, the weight that was forcing her hooves down became even greater. She could feel the force coming from a small wooden door to the side of the entry hall that she was in. She struggled to the door and forced it open. There was a flight of stairs leading downwards that presumably led to the castle dungeon. She began walking carefully down the stairs when her hoof slipped on a wet piece of moss. She tumbled down the stairs, the force pulling her down faster and faster until she hit the bottom of the stairs with a dull thunk on the rocks. There was a long corridor ahead of her and a small door on her right that seemed like it was emitting a pulse. It seemed like that was where the force was coming from, so Lightning Bolt stepped through the door, a feat that took tremendous effort. What she saw shocked her.

Pepper bobbed in the air with a frown on his face. Discord was zipping back and forth below him, every so often tugging Pepper along.
"Come on Pepper, cheer up."
Pepper floated in the air, mouth sealed tight.
"Well, fine then, if you're going to be so boring, then you leave me no choice." With a snap of Discords fingers, the air around Pepper gently filled with a hiss of gas. It went away as soon as Pepper breathed in.

There was a large pink bubble in the center of the room that seemed to be emitting a pulse, which was presumably what the force on Lightning was. Inside of the bubble were six mares, who Lightning recognized as being the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. She had seen them around town often. The ponies were lying on top of each other at the bottom of the bubble, presumably forced down by the same thing that was affecting Lightning, although it seemed much stronger for them. The mare on top of the pile, a cyan blue Pegasus whom Lightning knew as Rainbow Dash, groaned and cracked open an eyelid when Lightning opened the door. When she saw who it was, she opened her mouth to speak. "Hey. I've seen you around town. Your name is Lightning Bolt, right?"

Lightning was kind of shocked that this pony knew her name, but she just nodded in response to Rainbow's question. Rainbow spoke again, the motion taking tremendous effort. "What are you doing in Canterlot?"

"Oh, just chasing a friend." Lightning Bolt answered, hesitating at the last part. Was Pepper even her friend? Since he was in league with Discord, she supposed not. "Well, he was a friend." She added.

"Oh. Listen Lightning, I need your help." Dash said. "Turn your head about ninety degrees to your left." Lightning complied, even though the motion hurt her neck because of the force. She saw a wooden chair that had five necklaces and a crown placed on it. They had gems that were in various shapes, but all were black. She recognized them as the Elements of Harmony, except the Elements were brightly colored, not like these...
