Cindy looked at her food. It didn't look anything like anything her dad had managed to cook at home. Then again, my father never cooked any much at home, she thought fiercely.

The new Ravenclaw shrugged at tasted it. Delicious! Cindy ate her food greedily, for she had never eaten anything so good in her life.

When all the food was gone, the headmistress talked for a bit about how the Forbidden Forest actually was forbidden, that there is a list of 678 banned objects, that we are not to use magic in the corridors and that Quidditch trials would be held in the second week, but Kitty had completely zoned out, until she realized everyone had stood up and were leaving.

The Slytherin prefects led the group of first years in their house, Kitty reluctantly included, through a labyrinth of passages in the lower dungeons of the school that even Kitty doubted on her ability to remember, coming to a halt in front of a stretch of unremarkable bare, damp stone wall that looked exactly like any other, reducing Kitty's confidence again somewhat.
One of the prefects scratched his chin blankly, and the other rolled her eyes at him. "Argentum," she said clearly, and the concealed stone door slid open.

Jackie followed the Slytherin prefects into the common room. Green tinted light filled the room with an eerie glow. Jackie glanced around the room, looking for the source of the odd light. A clear ceiling revealed that the common room was under the Black Lake! Comfortable black couches sat around a large fireplace. Older students milled around, greeting one another with hugs and laughter. "Welcome to the Slytherin Common room!" The prefect announced to the first years. With that girls went to their bunks and boys went to theirs. The girls dorm room was on the left side of the common room. Stairs led up to a large black door embedded in the rock face. The head girl opened the door, inside was a dimly lit passage way into a long room, a spiral staircase in the center next to the small stove for heat. "There are 7 floors in the Girl's dormitories, one floor for each year. You're all first years, so you'll be on the first floor. You may only enter another year's floor if you are invited by another student of that year." She gestured to the many beds with green hangings, "You'll find your belongings next to your bed. Feel free to unpack, and talk amongst yourselves. Once you've unpacked you may join the other Slytherins in the common room.
Jackie found her trunk next to the left bed next to the window at the end of the dorm. She unpacked quickly, and sat on her bed to read a book.

@smilies IKR?! I was using my iPod to type something on Superheroes and I was googling something in another tab and the stupid thing REFRESHED! DX

Cael trudged behind the head Slytherin guys, whatever they were called, and stood there, listening to them drone on and on and on. Suddenly, he noticed they were done talking and the guys and girls were segregating. He sighed and followed the boys up the staircase to the dorm rooms.

The Gryffindors made their way up the stairs that moved on their own free will to the third floor and a large portrait of a very fat lady, who, as it happened, was called the Fat Lady (who, like all the other pictures in the castle, could move and talk and even enter other nearby frames).
On submitting the correct password the portrait swung open and Nick along with the other first years, were admitted into the Gryffindor common room.

For the Ravenclaws, they climbed a tight, dizzying spiral staircase on the fifth floor to a plain door with a bronze eagle knocker, which asked a question you needed to answer right before opening.

I read on the official Harry Potter wiki this little tid-bit about the Hufflepuff common room

"The Hufflepuff Dormitories and Common room are accessed through a painting near the kitchens. It is a quite cosy and welcoming place; not at all like a dungeon. The entrance to the common room is concealed in a stack of large barrels in a nook on the right hand side of the kitchen corridor. If one taps the barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, in the rhythm of ?Helga Hufflepuff?, the lid will swing open. Hufflepuff is the only house at Hogwarts that also has a repelling device for would-be intruders. If the wrong lid is tapped, or if the rhythm of the tapping is wrong, the illegal entrant is doused in vinegar. The room is filled with yellow hangings and fat armchairs, with little underground tunnels that lead up to the dormitories, which have round barrel-top like doors."

"And that's why you have to be SURE to remember the right knock." he laughed, and did the code right this time, opening the door to the common room.
Sarah thought it was a cozy place, and she really liked it.

I when I went to the Harry Potter Exhibition I actually backed up into one the tapestries that's used in the Slytherin common room in the movie! The people there had a FIT! I almost got kicked out! xD

Cindy skipped lightly into the Rawenclaw common room and followed the rest of the first year girls into the girl's dormitories.

She found her room which she was sharing with a few other girls and saw that her trunks and luggage had already been neatly packed beside her bed.

Hero was mieowing constantly at her, still stuck in his cat cage. Cindy laughed and freed her impatient cat who speed off out of the room.

Cindy didn't care where Hero was going because the Hogwarts grounds would keep her cat safe from harm.

((We should make our familiars meet each other without our characters knowing. XD))

She let Ginger out of her cage, and the cat waddled out and happily fell asleep on the quilt, making Sarah laugh.

Felix lied down in his new bed. "So, I guess it's time to sleep. I wonder if they'll let me write a letter to mum." he thought, and closed his eyes. Iggy hooted in his cage. Felix let him out so he could fly around, and then went back to sleep.

Cael unpacked everything and flopped onto his four-poster bed. Boggart whistled impatiently. Gah. Cael let his owl out of his cage and fed him, and promptly went back to bed, forgetting to put Boggart back.

Kitty didn't bother unpacking but kicked her trunk over and fell onto the bed.
It was too neatly folded, so she had to rip all the sheets out, and then it was still far too soft. Also, the sound of water made her feel sick.

Miles enjoyed the sounds of the water, and the rather dark and glommy lightning. He let his raven, Blackfeather, out of it's cage.
Most people use owls to carry mail, but the Kane family charmed ravens to carry their messages.
Miles thought it had to do with the fact ravens were more blood thristy than owls.
Yeah, Miles' family was GREAT. (Sarcastically). His mum and dad would be happy (If you could every SAY they were happy about anything Miles did) that he was sorted into Slytherin, as they were both sorted into that house.
He also put (Shoved) his familar, a toad he decided to call Robert,
/Random names, FTW!!! XD/ into a small cage (shoebox) under his bed, and hoped he would remember to feed and give him water.

As Cael drifted into sleep, he missed the creaking of the door as some breeze pushed it open. Boggart, the malevolent creature he was, decided to fly out the door. Outside, the spotted owl flew down the stairs and into the Slytherin Common Room. There, he landed soft as a feather on the arm of a couch.

Diamond was frinked off at his owner for forgetting to feed him. He meant to go through her stuff for food, but he tripped and fell down the stairs and rolled into the common room. (Hope that works with the layout O_o)

Iggy hooted and fluttered back to Felix's dorm. Felix lied fast asleep, snoring loudly. Iggy hopped around the floor, searching for something fun to do.
