Asteria~
I had unpacked the clothing I had, along with the other necessities. I felt like it was important to take inventory, so I laid everything onto the bed and counted it. Five full sets of casual clothing, from shirts to undergarments. One set of sleepwear, one set of formal, and two coats, one heavy and the other light. I had a little pouch where I had toiletries. I assumed that the bathrooms would provide the things that I would run out of, so I had only packed things that were specific or lasting, like my brush and comb. There were a couple other trinkets in another pouch, but I rarely even looked at them. Instead, I focused on the stack of books that had come from my large, heavy, square pack. There were too many of them to simply leave them around, and I didn't really want to just crowd the bookshelf with them. I decided to place them under the bed instead for now. There seemed to be space for luggage and the like there anyway. I didn't know if Eben thought he should send more things, but I had everything I owned anyway. I would have to ask the Academy to provide some more clothes though. For now, I put the clothes and such into the dresser, leaving some items to put onto the nightstand. I took the money I had and put it into a purse, along with immediate necessities.

Ali looks in one of the rooms that looked like its already been filled then follows one of the more shy girls into their room and takes the last bed. Seems like all the shy people shared a room now. Ali looks at her bed then at her dresser and felt a little bad she couldn't fill it. She looked at her axe and sighed. She didn't want to leave it but she probably shouldn't take it every were. She bent down and gently put the axe under her bed. Then she wandered over to the main room.

Yoshi unzipped her bag and looked inside. "I think I brought too much unnecessary stuff," she mumbled to herself. She pulled out a set of blades and a steel bow. "And, I don't even know I got this in here," she said to herself as she pulled out a long rod, meant to be her favorite weapon. Yoshi heaved out thick books about military, beasts and combat. Finally, she took out a leather pouch jingling with a few coins.

I skip into the main room, humming to myself.

Patience-
I looked over the things I'd taken out. I take out the list of all the things and counted the items. I take out a sketchbook and start drawing a map of the room. The room was fairly simple so the map only took a few minutes. I labeled the beds and dressers. I take out a notebook and start writing about the people I knew. There was Alina. She was nice and helped me with my self-esteem issues a little bit, but she could be acting. There were the two humans from earlier, Lal and Moon, though those names sounded like nicknames but who knows, maybe those names were their names, I wouldn't judge, I mean my name was 'Patience'. I didn't talk to them, though one of them did smile at me and I freaked out over it, but that's just me. So, they seemed nice. Everyone else though, I have no idea who was who. I close my notebook. First impressions matter, I can't be an anti-social loner in a corner, I needed to interact with people! Well, I'll probably ruin my first impression by stuttering and being a spaz. And I can't let anyone read this book, they'll think I'm a creep! I just need to write things down, because I'll probably forget them by next morning. I shove the notebook in my bag which had a lock. I lock it. I consider bringing the sketchbook into the main room so I could map it, and you know, draw some scenery. I walk into the main room, preparing for conversations.

And I immediately looked around, drawing and labeling details as I go.

“We are happy to have him,” she says. “We’re happy to have you, too. And all of the other Chosen.” She smiles down at Luna as she began to pack. “Well, I leave you to your packing.” She walks out of the room and heads over to the main room. She cups her hands over her mouth and calls, “when you’re all done packing, head to the kitchen. We have a meal prepared for you, and then we’ll talk and play some games to get to know each other better!”





I look over at the half-elf who comes in, Clythia. She says hello. I don’t say anything back. Luckily, my other new roommate, Yoshino, steps in and speaks with her. I ignore them and finish up my packing. The bookshelf was completely empty in our room. In my mind, it wasn’t expectable, so I place the few books I’d taken onto them. I didn’t mind sharing my books with the others. The others needed to read. Reading was important. I walk to the other side of the room and see a door. I open it. It was an entrance into the other girl’s room. I stare at the girls packing for a moment and then shut the door again. Great, now we had an easy way to all be together and socialize.

I hear Maliha call out. I was done packing and hungry, so I decide to step out and go eat. I wasn’t very excited about playing the games and talking, though. The half-elf smiles at me as I sit down at the table. I look at the food choices. There was chicken, a large salad with a bunch of toppings, and brownies for desert. I grab some of each. I also grab one of the forms and fill it out. I make sure to request for clothing.





I couldn’t ignore the tense feeling that entered the room as soon as the elf walked in. “Hello!” I say to him. I watch as he sits down and glares at the other human. I whirl around to look at the human and see him looking nervous and uncomfortable. I remember the fight that had occurred at the Choosing Ceremony. Oh… so these were those two boys. Right. I quickly finish packing my stuff. I place some of the books I’d brought on the shelves. Most of them were on history, fighting, and knighthood. I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in them, but I thought it’d be nice to put them up just in case. I feel relieved when Maliha calls. I walk out of the room as quickly as I can.

I hoped those two would be able to settle their differences. It would be hard to live there comfortably if they hated each other. I walk to the table and sit down. I see an elf already at the table. “Hi!” I say. She looks up at me. A look of shock passes over her face. She begins to cough violently. “Are you okay?!” I ask, concerned. I stand up to help her. I was worried she was about to choke or something. She waves me away. “F-fine. I’m fine.” Her cheeks turn bright red, and she pulls her hoodie on. I stare at her, realizing this was the criminal-like girl. She'd taken off her cloak before. Her eyes were a strange color. I’d never seen eyes like hers… so, why did I feel like I had? I push the thoughts away and focus on grabbing some food. What was strange, though, was I looked up at the girl again. She was watching me with a confused and hurt look on her face. I had no idea why...



Okay! Here are the rooms again. I put Aria in the last unclaimed spot. I will put this list up on the first topic.

Girl’s Room 1:

It doesn’t really matter, since they’re all in the same room. No confusion there.

Luna stuffed her things away. It would do. She ran, nearly tripping over her own feet. She walked into the kitchen and yawned. She looked over at Lal but resisted the urge to walk over, he was talking to someone else and probably wouldn’t appreciate her interrupting.

Clythia-
I sit down at the table. Someone was coughing. I wanted to ask if she was okay, but someone else was already doing that. It's nice, for someone to show concern about someone else. I continue humming to myself and wait for the others to come sit down.

Patience-
I finish mapping the room, and it took a little longer than expected. I walk over to the table and spend some time choosing a seat. When I finally sit down, I start twitching like crazy. Well, there goes my good first impression.

Yoshi finished setting up her space, Then she headed down to the kitchen. Picking up a chicken leg, basically the only thing she had ever eaten was bread crumbs and whatever she could find in trashcans. There were colorful plants too, but who eats that? There was also ting brown squares that people were eating. Really confused now, Yoshi sat down alone at a table in the corner of the cafeteria, and tore her chicken apart.

I almost stand and walk over to Yoshi, but I feel like it'll annoy her somewhat. She seems confused about the food. I should probably offer her a brownie later. I then looked down at myself. I need clothes. I grab a form to fill out and make a request for clothes. I only take the salad, I don't like the idea of eating meat.

Patience-
I take some salad, I didn't really want to eat chicken, so I guess I'm going vegetarian mode tonight.

Asteria~
I consider where to put the last two items stored on the side of my bookbag. One was an ironwood staff that could be made a spear with one quick adjustment. The other was a well oiled bow. I simply shove them under the bed for now. I head out to eat, although I did not want to participate in any sort of get-to-know-you games. I resolved to duck out after eating. I look at the table and sigh in relief. No game or wild animals. I could eat chicken.
(If you're wondering about why she can't eat game, it part of her power. She can eat livestock, farmed animals and sometimes fish, snails, etc, but she can't eat game.)
I take a look at the form whike eating a bite of salad and request some more clothing, particularly clothes suited to working with a beast. I also ask for some soap and other toiletries. There were likely some things I needed that I had forgotten, but I would think about them later.

~ I walk to my assigned room and slowly open the door to peek in. She was glad to see that it was empty. She walked past the beds that looked used and to the only one that still looked new. She dumped her stuff on it.

Ali sits down at the table and grabbed the form asking for extra clothes. Then she smiled and grabbed a plate and filled it with a little bit of everything it smelled so much better then the old food she had been used to eating.

Felix watches as a human, who looked uncomfortable, leaves when Maliha calls. He stands up with a huff and heads to the main room to sit with the others. His eyes light up as he sees the food. Felix stacks his plate up with chicken and desserts, grinning.

Agnimitra sat on a fallen tree near a lake in the forest. She stared into the water without really seeing anything. She was breathing hard from running. She was crazy. Why had she thought to run away? She couldn't run away. Where was she supposed to go? She was too absorbed in her thoughts; she didn't realize she wasn't alone.

"Hey, what are you doing here? Did you run away from home too?" Agnimitra startled. She jumped up and held her hands out. She conjured two wisps of fire on each hand. She whirled around and saw a young human boy with messy brown hair and beautiful turquoise eyes. He jumped back and held his hands up like he had been arrested.

"Woah! I don't want to hurt you! Hehe, not that I think I could. You seem like you could beat me up pretty good." The boy smiled sloppily. Angimitra stared at the boy. He stared back at her. His smile slowly disappeared as he watched her. He gained a thoughtful look instead. There was silence for a few moments. Somehow, she wasn't sure why, but she felt she could trust him. Something about him ignited her curiosity. She slowly put down her hands and extinguished the fire she could control. Her curiosity was a fire she couldn't control.

“Hi!” I barely restrain a sigh as yet another person says hi to me. Why did everyone seem to want to talk to me. Couldn’t they get the hint that I wanted to be left alone! I guess I should humor them and at least look at them. I look up and just stare at the person for a minute. My mind didn’t seem to process what I was looking at, until I saw those eyes… I take a deep breath, accidently inhaling my food. I start to cough… a lot and violently. He gets up and asks me if I’m alright. I was alright, but embarrassed. Darn, I was so stupid sometimes. I hadn’t wanted to meet up again in this way. I had wanted to be cooler and more chill about it. I’d wanted to act like I didn’t care he’d been gone for so many years. I definitely didn’t want to almost choke.

Once, I get over my coughing fit, I watch him, waiting for him to say something. Waiting for a look of recognition and happiness to spark in his eyes. He was here. He was actually here. Just like he promised... He hadn’t wanted to stop being my friend like I'd convinced myself. He’d just gotten lost or hurt. We were separated, but he’d come to the Academy just like he’d said would. He was also in a knight’s armor, which made me smile. He’d gone and became a knight just like we said we were going to do. I hadn’t recognized him at first. He’d grown a lot taller and his hair was shorter. His carefree smile and his friendly eyes were enough for me to recognize him. I should have noticed sooner. It didn’t matter. I had noticed now. He was really here! I could tell him all about what happened, and he’d be able to help. Maybe the Academy wouldn’t be so bad now that we were going to be friends again.

However, the recognition never came. As soon as he was satisfied that I was okay, he went to grab food. He didn’t say anything to me. In fact, he even turned and waved to a human girl with blonde hair. He started to talk to her instead. Didn’t he… Didn’t he remember me? Didn’t he want to be friends still? Why was he ignoring me? Why was he pretending not to remember me? What had I done that would make him want to pretend not to know me? That was it. He was pretending not to know me. He really didn’t want to be friends after all. My heart sinks, and I turn back to my food. I push it around with my fork. I felt numb all over now.

I’d hoped for so long we’d actually be reunited. That all his promises and the things he said had been true. I guess they weren’t. I guess he had just wanted to stop being friends. He was probably disappointed that I’d been Chosen as well, so he decided to pretend we didn’t know each other. I felt tears spring at the corner of my eyes. I blink them away. I wasn’t going to cry. I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction. If he wanted to pretend like he’d forgotten me, I was going to do the same.





I look up and see Luna enter the room. I see her glance at me, and she seemed to want to come over but stopped. I was oblivious to the reason why she would stop. I wave at her. “Hey, Moon! How was your room? Who are your roommates?” I ask. I hoped she didn’t ask about my roommates. That had been pretty awkward. I fill out the form for the uniform. I didn’t need to request any outfits because Gareth would just send me anything I needed. And that was assuming I needed anything. We’d packed a bunch of stuff. I begin to eat my food while I wait for Luna’s answer.

I glance over at the different kids who were seated. There was one girl who didn’t seem to know what to do with any of the food before her, except the chicken, another who was twitching, and the elf boy with the temper. There were a lot of strange people here. I thought they were all pretty cool. Strange people were right up my ally. As long as they were nice, and not complete klutz. I offer a friendly smile to the twitching elf, because she seemed really nervous. She had no reason to be. I couldn’t help but glance over at the strange girl with the cloak. I caught her glaring at me, before she looked down at her plate. Why was she upset? Finally, I look over at Maliha and Mircea, curiously. I knew they were prepping some sort of activity for us. I could see them cutting different colored pieces of paper into rectangles. I wondered what was up.

Mikel wasn't in the mood for whatever activity they had planned, but he was a little hungry. He decides that he'll quickly grab some food then leave. He heads out towards the kitchen. He sees the elf boy in front of him and slows down. Mikel didn't understand why the elf hated him so much, but he was going to make no effort to try to get along.

Ali finished eating then handed in her paper and moved over to a window willing for no one to notice her. She sat down, looked outside and started daydreaming about her beast. Her soft... black... beast...

I slipped out after seeing that someone else had done the same. I avoided everyone else and went back to my room. I didn't want to talk to anyone except a few people in that room, and I would not want to burden others with my problems. I'd rather finish my book.

She began to eat but but wasn’t hungry. She was too excited about the beasts.

Nobody was really talking to each other. I look at everyone and take some brownies, before taking my plate and walking over to Yoshi's table. I didn't want her to be confused. "Mind if I sit here?" I ask her.

Patience-
"Gah!" I jump. He smiled at me. "Sorry." God, they probably all think I'm a weird spaz. I quickly finish eating my salad, take my sketchbook to a window. I notice Alina daydreaming nearby. Huh. I kinda...want to draw her. I really didn't like drawing figures or faces but I wanted to draw her. I sat down and started on her pose.
