@kataclysm I agree with you, most of the site's creatures require cc to get, as people who want to trade them only want cc. I hope @ian will look into this soon 😊

I am also hoping to see @prairie's idea implemented soon, or some other way to get CC by playing the game instead of just paying. It's frustrating to see "CC only" all over the place. Please make the site nicer for free players, @ian! It will bring in more people and make players like me more interested in supporting the site πŸ˜‰

I just read @iia's comment on another suggestion thread and thought that it would be good to copy paste some of her thoughts here:

now its just desperately trying to find a player that will sell you their extremely inflated cc

rare creatures can bring in revenue for eggcave (which is understandable). But how much more money is eggcave really making if all of the players are leaving because Eggcave is a race for cc.

@ian, I'm sure that being a developer for this site feels like a thankless task sometimes. People are constantly complaining and criticizing, and suggestions are thrown around all the time that would be difficult and time-consuming to develop. I don't like contributing to that, and I respect and appreciate all of the hard work you continually put in.

That being said, the issue of CC inflation and the site being pay to win is a serious issue. I really think it needs to be addressed, and the amount of traffic on this thread is proof of that. I loved reading your response on February 17th, and I really hope more news will come sooner rather than later.

@lobstertheremin I like what you said, and I also like what @kataclysm said on the previous page. @ian, just take a look at the most recent trade posts and you'll see how broken the current game economy is. It's all about the premium currency, and it's sad and frustrating. Please make the game easier for all players and not just the players who pay.

@ian I appreciate the work that you put in with quality of life updates like the recent change to the donation center and adding the creator's mark, but in my opinion this problem should be a much higher priority. Please let us know the status of making the game less P2W when you can. Thank you 😊

I think the ideas laid out in this thread are wonderful. While I can occasionally buy CC, I am not in a position to make it a habit. I do find my time here sometimes more, but lately less. I try to feed about 100 creatures a day, which isn't much in the grand scheme of things. Hearing ideas like quests, games, challenges, as well as better daily sign in rewards would certainly encourage me to spend more time on the site. I appreciate everyone that has made suggestions and ideas (because I have no clue what I would do to address this issue). And I appreciate EggCave staff taking time to listen to their community. I look forward to seeing how this develops.

i was pinged on this a while back and took time to ponder. i do heavily, heavily agree that it’s about time something akin to this was implemented. i am lucky enough to nowadays be able to purchase my own cc when i feel like it (though being in one of the taxed areas kinda sucks but that’s not eggcaves problem), when i joined 7 years ago as a little kid and a new user i would have loved something like this. even now 50cc is going in the user shops for upwards of 900kec due to the lack of cc being available for ec. having something to do, like grind away feeding for ec to get cc might bring life back into the click exchange, which i feel is also a blip here. but that’s how i’m feeling about this, thanks for pinging me again @riceboysleeps

@ian What is the feasibility of these ideas? Would it take years to code and program daily missions/achievments? If it would be a big pain, maybe it would be better to just do the conversion terminal with a monthly cap. If it wouldn't take too long though, weekly and monthly challenges could be cool.

Something should be done soon though. Just take a look at the trade sections and it's just nonstop "cc only." It's pretty depressing that casual players don't have access to the majority of creatures on this site.

Really bummed that I'm going to miss the Onny and Squearth rereleases because I'm too poor to avoid CC. I spend hours a day on this site and love being here but it seems like if I don't pay, I don't really matter.

Hope there will be more progress on this soon. I like the EC to CC Conversion Terminal idea, but it can be anything.

I just want to see some positive change soon so that poor players who love Eggcave can have a shot at getting our dream creatures with hard work.

I agree @greengrassoftunnel, I love so many creatures that are unreachable for me. I would be happy with feeding and working to save up for them, but people only want CC ☹️

I just wrote a post on another thread about my current thoughts. I would be interested in hearing anyone's responses to it.

Hi I’ve been a player since 2015 and had the lovely opportunity to release a critter.

I believe this is a great idea, full heartedly. I was so excited to see they were doing rereleases since the old ones became so invaluable that it was impossible for them to get obtained. It’s hard to get the ec necessary so I would t see a huge problem with it, maybe but a cap on how much cc one player can buy ? Like each month they can only buy 500cc with the terminal but as much as they want from the cash shop park? Just a thought.

That way one of the cash shop monthlies can be bought a month (basically with ec) but you’d still have to exchange / buy from the cash shop / trade if you wanted more??

Because it would be a bit of problem if someone just bought thousands of cc each month or even week cus somehow people have time for that-

But truly being able to convert ec to cc seems like a blessing it really does. I would be able to buy cash shop monthlies (I have been unable to ever since I started playing- I’ve had to trade my way up) I don’t think I have ever owned more than 200cc at a time.

This terminal is just one idea, and there are others that could be good too depending on how realistic they are to implement (the other one I'm thinking of is putting cavecash in the prize pool for questing, like getting 50cc for every 10 quests completed with a cap of 500cc per month). But the conversion terminal idea (with a monthly cap) seems to me like an elegantly simple solution, with a caveat that it would need to be monitored at the beginning for side account/bot abuse.

It is exciting to see Ian continually making improvements to the site, and it gives me hope that a fix for this problem (EC is too pay to play) will be coming soon.

The quest idea is great, but I think maybe more quests should be needed to get 50cc, say 20 since there are many options everyday for a quest. Maybe the cap could be 200 cc a month from the quests, 500 cc from the terminal. That’s 700 cc a month which is great, since I plan on making 3 mil a month from feeding creatures that’s another 300 cc - enough to buy myself one re-release or two cash shops

@dragrawr That could be interesting (having multiple places where you can earn CC). We could get some in the CC to EC terminal, some via quests, some via daily sign-ins, some via daily missions, maybe some via Wall of Sandrodons, etc. That way, different types of site gameplay are incentivized (feeding, questing, etc).

What are your thoughts @ian? 😊

I'm thinking about this and hope that something is coming soon @ian 😊 would love to get more creatures that I love on this site, but currently most of them are only obtainable by spending money, which is sad.

I'm pretty new around here and I did have the privilege of being able to buy CC to use in trades and such, so not sure how much my opinion counts... That said, 100% support a 'conversion terminal' and in general the idea of allowing users who *can't* pay real money to still enjoy the creatures that are 'CC only'. The only other adoptable site I've played has no pay components whatsoever and it was definitely a bit jarring to realize just how much of this game is inaccessible without real money. All those trades that only want CC and all these 'cash shop monthlies', I can't imagine how discouraging it must be for younger players who don't have the ability to pay real money.

There really is not anything I can say. ian and the EggCave team are trying to work something out that prevents abuse of the EC->CC terminal, ways to maintain profit, and or other ways that players can obtain CC. "questing/daily-sign ins/scavenger hunts/weekly or monthly challenges."

The downside of the EC->CC terminal being implemented is the removal of non-registered users being able to feed creatures, it would make Yarolds useless when it comes to trying to evolve creatures that required an X amount of feeds. And lastly, a cap of X feeds per second will make speed feeding a tad annoying when you try and open multiple tabs (crtl+click button) and quickly close them with (crtl+w)

A wonderful upside is making players link side accounts.

I am not saying that I am not a fan of the EC->CC terminal idea, those are just the two things I feel are a downside, but solutions that are ultimately needed.

I for one prefer having the fun activities ian gave as a possible alternative, it will increase site activity and make it more enjoyable. I believe it would also be an easy fix to avoid abuse of players using bots to gain EC in order to obtain CC. Games and activities are what make a website fun and rewarding.

Out of curiosity, what's the adoptables site that you've played that isn't pay to collect?

I'll also add that I have the ability to pay money, but the fact that this site is so limited for free players and so much content is available exclusively for $ makes me less likely to spend money here. Eggcave is so P2W and it's depressing cause I love so many creatures that I'll probably never get (unless CC becomes more accessible to everybody).

That's an interesting idea (site trivia awards CC once a month). That in addition to a conversion terminal and CC from sign ins, questing, etc could be interesting. Or just a conversion terminal to make things simple. It would be nice if something was added to fix the site soon.
