The man rocked back onto his heels and rose. Crunching dirt underneath his boots, he stepped a few feet away from the small bed of stones. He paused for a moment, adjusted one last rock that lay askew toward the center, and nodded imperceptibly to the great reptilian beast before him.She rose eight feet tall at the shoulder, with long, graceful legs and a slender body. Her scales could only have been painted by the gods themselves: pearly white along the face, with an earthy brown stripe beginning at the base of her skull and trailing between her glittering emerald eyes to the tip of her nose. Below her cheeks, the iridescent white began to speckle and fade to mint green, which gave way to turquoise down toward her collarbone. The turquoise then halted, driven back by mocha brown scales lining the upper curves of her legs. Now interspersed, flecks of brown and green battled their way down her lithe figure, browns collecting along her vertebrae and the spines of her wings while white prevailed overall. Her tail was earthy brown as a whole, banded by wide cream rings--possibly the only solidly colored part her. She was a wonder to behold in the pink glow of sunrise, neck arched as regally as any queen. With the gentlest of exhales, a stream of fire wound its way out her gently parted mouth, folding like a blanket over the bed of stones. -c

With the gentlest of exhales, a stream of fire wound its way out her gently parted mouth, folding like a blanket over the bed of stones. After a few moments, the array of rocks began to glow; as they all turned orange, they were ready, and the dragon soundlessly closed her maw. With the bell-like tinkle of shifting scales, she wound her body around the warm rocks, shielding them off but for a three foot gap. Humming contentedly, she laid her head across the nest so that she could gaze at each of the four orbs that lay together at its center. The first was the largest, oval shaped and ashen gray, cast with an orange tinge by the glowing rocks. It seemed to stir slightly. Upon closer inspection, the glow that colored its surface came not from the outside, but from within, pulsing steadily like a slowly-beating heart. (HATCHED)The second was opalescent and small, no larger than the average person's head. It was perfectly round and seemed to be smooth in texture, with a reflective top-coating and a soft golden luster. (HATCHED)The third was a hand and a half's breadth long and stony black in color. It was stippled with small spots of yellow-white that seemed to twinkle, if properly examined. These spots seemed embedded not only on the surface, but all throughout the orb, giving it the impression of a starry night sky. (HATCHED)The last was the clear favorite of the caretaker dragon. -c

She nuzzled it gently as she surveyed her group of eggs, still quietly grieving that only one of her own clutch was hers to give away. This egg was thoroughly dappled, with speckles of iridescent green, blue and white covering a blue base. (For descriptions of two more eggs, please see page 10, post #8)The man, the dragon's rider, smiled up at her. Age was beginning to show in the tired lines around his eyes, but his hair was still black as night, not yet showing the lines of silver that would one day creep up at his temples. He stared down at the small group of eggs before him with a fatherly tenderness; he would never come to have children of his own, but as dragon rider, the eggs belonged to him just as much as they did to her. 'The sun is nearly up,' he observed, now casting his eyes toward the horizon. It was time to summon the crowd forward. "Please, everyone!" he called out. The people of the town had noticed their arrival upon its outskirts late last night, and a crowd had since been slowly gathering. "Listen up! These dragon eggs were laid nearly a year ago; since then, they have developed, and now sit ready to hatch. Each of you may approach us, one at a time. If Elidara allows you forward, you may try and bond with one of the eggs. If you are waved away, or if no dragon takes you, then I would recommend you leave at once." He nodded, now, stepping aside to stand by his dragon at the small entrance to the nest.

Rules:-All posts must be in third person, past tense.-No one-line replies.-Please use proper grammar and spelling at all times. (It makes things so much easier to read.)-Do not control any character other than your own.-This is a vaguely Medieval-era roleplay, so no jeans, iPods, etc.-You may make more than one character ONLY if your first character has been dismissed.Character form:Name:Gender:Age:Hair:Eyes:Clothes:Other (appearance):Other (general):Thanks so much for reading through all that! ^^; If you want to ping me, please ping @silver_winged. #dragon #roleplay #egghatching

Please submit your character application if you'd like to join! I know that introduction was kind of scary, but I don't usually write that much. Promise. c: @enigzima Awesome! Thanks so much for checking this out. EDIT: Oops, one last thing: if you are lucky enough to hatch one of the dragon eggs, you and your character get to keep it forever and ever. You're welcome to establish it as an official one of your characters and use it in roleplays/stories/etc.

Hints for making your characters (and also to keep this from immediately dying):-Anyone appearing too young (under 14) or too old (over 35-ish) will be almost automatically sent away.-Dragons and riders are very powerful and are to be treated with utmost respect. It would be a good idea for characters to introduce themselves, bow, and ask very nicely for their time.-The rider and dragon will send you forward based on outward appearance. The to-be-hatchlings, however, cannot see and rely completely on the personality of the individual.-If you mess up somehow, you may make another character and try again. No worries.

silver_winged • 18 January 2012 at 10:42 PM
@cpqkyttyActually, you play the humans trying to hatch the dragons. I play the dragons. ^^;EDIT: I seemed to have explained this really poorly . . . sorry! In this roleplay, you all play as humans who would like to hatch a dragon and become a dragon rider. In order to do so, the character must approach and "talk" to the eggs to see if their personalities are compatible. If the two match up really well, the egg hatches for them, and the two characters are bonded. If they don't get along, the baby dragon will reject them, and they're not the rider of that dragon. I am responsible for playing the guardians of the eggs (the adult dragon and rider) and the four li'l dragon eggs. If this roleplay becomes popular, I can add more eggs. Is that better?
cqpkytty • 18 January 2012 at 11:21 PM
@silver_winged I get that. I know it's supposed to be the trainer. But I wanted to be a dragon. Pleeease???
silver_winged • 18 January 2012 at 11:56 PM
@cqpkyttyWe could add an extra egg, I suppose. I already have each of the dragons for the existing eggs designed, and I'm kind of attached to them.
cqpkytty • 19 January 2012 at 12:07 AM
@silver_wingedThen tell me what the fourth egg will look like, and I'll be that! πΈ

silver_winged • 19 January 2012 at 12:52 AM
@bunnyshadow You can put that under Other (general). X3 That's why it's there~! Anyway, we start when your character approaches the dragon and rider and asks to approach the eggs.
cqpkytty • 19 January 2012 at 12:54 AM
Aliera wriggled inside her shell. Today was the day! She would find her rider! She would hatch! She would get to stretch her wings and get out of this cramped egg once and for all! It would be amazing!
bunnyshadow • 19 January 2012 at 12:56 AM
@silver_winged i'll edit later. ~~~Sylvia walked up to the rider slowly, patiently as if it wasn't an honor. She looked up and stared into the riders eyes with her dark purple ones. The chain hanging from one of her boots clicked. Finally, she reached him and his dragon, she said in a clear, musical voice. "May i be able to bond with one your dragons' eggs?" She moved her gaze towards the dragon.
cqpkytty • 19 January 2012 at 1:02 AM
This was the most exciting day of her entire LIFE!!!
bunnyshadow • 19 January 2012 at 1:05 AM
@cqpkytty ???

The man stared over the young girl for a moment, a slight frown touching his face. 'Do you think she's . . . ?' he wondered, eyes casting to the side. Elidara, however, had made up her mind. She lifted her head from the nest and snorted warm air into the girl's face. 'Too young,' she said telepathically--she, her rider, and the girl could hear, but no others. 'Human hatchlings can be completely different one year to the next.'"I'm sorry," the man apologized, nodding once. "I would try again in a few years, though." He glanced out at the crowd, wondering what kind of parents would allow their young child out, unaccompanied, before sunrise. ((You can use the same character, if you like . . . just modified.))@bunnyshadow
bunnyshadow • 19 January 2012 at 1:11 AM
@silver_winged She doesnt have parents. π~~~Sylvia knew what he was thinking and said "I dont have parents." then ran away.~~~She's 14 now xD she was suppised to be 14 but when cqpkytty posted 1 i thought it was too old π~~~Sylvia walked up to the rider slowly, patiently as if it wasn't an honor. She looked up and stared into the riders eyes with her dark purple ones. The chain hanging from one of her boots clicked. Finally, she reached him and his dragon, she said in a clear, musical voice. "May i be able to bond with one your dragons' eggs?" She moved her gaze towards the dragon.
cqpkytty • 19 January 2012 at 1:13 AM
@bunnyshadow...what do you mean? Aliera is one of the yet-to-hatch dragons...(I got special permission from @silver_winged)---This was so exciting!
bunnyshadow • 19 January 2012 at 1:17 AM
@cqpkytty Oh.. I was just wondering :Ll@silver_winged sooooo? -hopes-
silver_winged • 19 January 2012 at 1:18 AM
@bunnyshadow I know she doesn't have parents, but that doesn't mean my character does. -The man stared down at the girl. He was predisposed to say yes; as a human, he had once been a part of the crowd, and the assent of his dragon's mother and rider had been a glorious moment. His dragon, on the other hand, was inclined to deny in the nature of protecting her hatchlings. Still, she could not find any clear objections to the girl, except possibly for her manners. "First of all, good morning," the man greeted with a sort of grimace, "and I am not sure if you are able, but you are welcome to try." The dragon moved her head aside just slightly, so that she was not blocking the eggs from their suitors. "Please step forward."
cqpkytty • 19 January 2012 at 1:21 AM
Someone was coming - a possible rider, she could sense it!Aliera calmed herself down. She would need to make sure that this was the one she wanted - or not. Her excitement couldn't get in the way. She had to really judge their character, and make a sound decision.
bunnyshadow • 19 January 2012 at 1:24 AM
@silver_winged ok what now do i touchthe eggs?~~~~Sylvia gingerly walked up the platform and saw 4 beautiful eggs. She liked all of them but one of them was already her favorite. The one was the egg that was thoroughly dappled, with speckles of iridescent green, blue and white covering a blue base. The top was pure, shimmering ocean blue, which faded to a muted, greener color as it neared the bottom. (had to copy that xD) But the stony black one also caught her eye. She walked closer and reached out her hand to touch the dappled one waiting for something to happened. If nothing did she would inturn touch all the eggs ubtil one of them hatched OR there was none left to hatch for her.
silver_winged • 19 January 2012 at 1:27 AM
@bunnyshadow When you touch an egg, you can now telepathically communicate with it. So, spotlight's on you, @cqpkytty. Aaand try not to copy my egg descriptions. *possessivepossessive* XD Flex those creative muscles!
bunnyshadow • 19 January 2012 at 1:30 AM
@silver_winged Lolz ok π~~~~Sylvia touched the dappled egg and said "Hey. Uhm. So do you like me? Like. It would be nice if you could hatch for me. I dont have parents siblings or anyone to care for me. If you did it would be nice to have someone close to me.", She channeled all her sadness intothe words. A si gle tear rolling down her cheek.
