@silver_winged
Anariel nodded slowly in response to Valklyn's reassurances, feeling comforted by the fact that he was not experiencing true fear and thus, did not need her concern. "I understand," she murmured softly, "I can see how that might come as a surprise."

She paused curiously, the hatchling's words reverberating in her mind. She glanced curiously at Valklyn and continued in a rather bashful tone, "if I may, is there a reason your caretaker chose today to present your brethren and you to the world then?"

Anariel watched, with baited breath, as her beautiful new hatchling moved forward and eventually settled down. She bit back a smile of pure delight when he sat, inwardly marveling at the adorable picture he made, intentionally or otherwise.

The contained smile burst forth when he replied, the unspoken pride causing her to grin unabashedly at him. "I am glad to hear that Valklyn," she paused to contemplate a niggling question, "was your name given to you by your caretaker and his Dragon?"

She let out a quiet gasp when the hatchling finally made contact and softly touched the texture of his nose. Anariel wasn't sure what she was expecting, but they were nowhere close to the sensation of those soft smooth scales sliding under her hands.

"Is this," she faltered in embarrassment, "that is, do you mind if I held you?"

Then, horrified by her own boldness, she withdrew her hand and held it in mortification over her mouth, a blush already rising to her cheeks.

Due to my crazy life and my desire to participate in more than one roleplay at a time, I'm going to set a new boundary: if you hatch a dragon and don't want to join the guild, then you can take the dragon as your very own character and be on your merry way. If your character wanted to join the dragon guild, you would be given the option to stay in the roleplay for when everybody goes back to the guild. Sorry if this is upsetting, but think of it this way: you have your very own dragon now!

I understand you didn't want to be part of the follow-up plot, so enjoy your dragons. ^^

@pastelfeathers
I understand your character has not decided yet . . . I can't remember whether or not she was asked. In any case, reply coming after this post.

@demonkiss
It's not too late to join! ^^ The two remaining dragon eggs can be found on page 10. Please feel free to fill out the application.

@sakura2596 If you want to, you may. As I said, just remember that your character now has their very own dragon that you're free to roleplay with. c: It's yours. Completely and totally.

@bunnyshadow
I thought your character already said no . . . ?

@sakura2596
You're welcome to stay on the forum topic and roleplay with the other people who've hatched dragons. I just don't think I'll be able to keep up with everybody if I have to keep playing the dragons. X3 What I mean to say is, you're welcome to stay, but you'll be playing your own dragon now. This applies to you too, @bunnyshadow.

@cqpkytty
Sorry! I'm so scatterbrained! >_< I'll update that post . . .

@bunnyshadow @sakura2596 @pastelfeathers
UPDATE: I'm going to make an executive decision and say that once you hatch your dragon, the character of the dragon now belongs to you. The exception to this is cqpkytty, since she made her own dragon character.

@pastelfeathers

The man's expression shifted slightly to one of amusement as he beheld Anariel's embarrassment. The way his eyes flickered toward his dragon, it seemed that they exchanged a few words.

From his respectful position toward the wall of the cave, the man saw fit to answer Anariel's questions himself. "Today was the day Elidara and I met." He smiled incomprehensibly; though the corners of his mouth barely shifted, his eyes glowed with warmth. "Elidara and I did indeed choose his name," he then added. "In a certain language it means 'lightning child.'"

The differences between the little dragon and its caretaker were enormous. The man spoke in soft, easygoing tones, with clear flow between his sentences and gentle pauses. The little dragon, on the other hand, addressed each question individually, with choppy stops in between each of his individual answers while he contemplated the next question. Words poured hastily from the little dragon as he sought to impart all his knowledge of any subject on the listener; the man found it better to speak simply, and with few words. -c

@pastelfeathers
The difference at the heart of the two seemed to be fear of failure. The little dragon believed that if his listener did not understand something as well as he did after his initial explanation, he risked disappointing them.

"You both have a decision, now," he began again, though continued to focus his gaze on the small dragon. "You may leave to grow and learn on your own, or you may accompany Elidara, me, and possibly other young riders back to my guild. If you would choose to face the world on your own, I would warn you of hunters, slayers, and narrow-minded humans who would seek to cause you harm, or lack of food or shelter. If you would choose to come, I would warn you of a lifelong allegiance to the guild. You would owe it several years of service; however, they would teach, feed, and protect you and your young dragon, and the method of service would be up to you to decide."
