Aliera smiled up at Sound.

((Since two eggs have hatched, I'm bringing out two more. c: ))The man spun around, startled. Mere moments after the hatching of the fire dragon, a second one hatched as well! 'I didn't expect them to go this quickly,' he turned and thought to Elidara, who seemed entirely preoccupied in examining Aliera. With a pleasant sigh, the man reached into the pack that sat nearby, on the floor of the cave. From it he drew two more eggs, and placed them in the next where the last two used to be.The first was misty grey, like settled fog. It had a subtle, swirling design, and was slightly cool to the touch. As it was placed on the warm rocks, the grey color seemed to recede from its bottom, revealing a possible lower layer of pale blue. The second was visibly heavy--the rider was no weak man, yet his face showed strain as he picked it up (with both hands) and transported it to the nest. It was a foot in diameter, almost completely round, and the color of polished bronze.

@pastelfeathersThe dragon acknowledged the Anariel's comment with a low (yet slightly nervous) chuckle. The regular rhythm of the questions, when they did not come too quickly, seemed to ease his anxiety. "Dragons," he explained, "are easier to recognize than humans. Because their minds are more like mine, it is easy to isolate a dragon entity from the life around it. Human minds are more foreign in structure; the physical link helps me to discern you from, say, the person standing next to you, or the energy from underneath the ground. Forgive me if my explanation is vague; mental communication is not easy to understand, much less describe. It is as second nature to us as speaking is to you." The yellow spots on the egg twinkled slowly as the static thrum lowered back to its usual pitch. "It is my duty to respond to you to the best of my abilities. After all, I cannot imagine you will have many opportunities to converse with a dragon."Her last proposal sparked genuine interest in him; the static tone rose in accordance. "Well, ah . . . well. Please do not feel as though you have inconvenienced me, as it is quite the contrary." He seemed to be searching for more time to formulate an answer. "I suppose the first question that comes to mind," he began tentatively, "is whether you're wearing a water-repellant cloak."

@silver_wingedsorry,i don't know what to post,im just doing this you you may post again 😊
silver_winged • 22 January 2012 at 10:34 PM
@bunnyshadowSolos stumbled hastily after Sylvia. Due to his poor understanding of locomotion, progress was slow, and he had barely come a few feet before she picked him up. 'Sorry!' he begged, chirping simultaneously. 'Sorry! You squeezed my wings again, and it just happened!' @sakura2596 ((I replied to you on page 8, but I'll post it again here.))"I don't know," the pearly egg responded in all honesty. She did seem interested, however. "Elidara told me color has to do with seeing, and I can't see. But I guess I'll know soon?"
sakura2596 • 22 January 2012 at 10:41 PM
Silverstarr giggled, then tought of what to say. She had run out of thing to talk about. She thought if she should asked the dragon if she could be its rider, but insted she said," What do you want to talk about." She almost slaped her face from all the embaresment.
silver_winged • 22 January 2012 at 10:46 PM
@sakura2596The pearly egg seemed equally lost for an idea. "Hm!" she declared, pausing for a moment to think of something suitable. "Well, there has to be something to talk about," she remarked. "What's the world like?"
sakura2596 • 22 January 2012 at 10:51 PM
"Hmmmm, Its hard to explain. There are large oceans, and deserts. Its pretty nice,as long as you count out the theives that steal gold and food for a living." She thought of how to describe a world that the dragon had yet to discover.
pastelfeathers • 22 January 2012 at 10:54 PM
@silver_wingedAnariel snickered softly at Dragon's nervous chuckle, she felt torn between amusement and regret that she was causing him such distress with her questions. She had never consider her questions as potentially nerve-wrecking before. It was an...odd concept. She wasn't sure how she felt about it.She focused her attentions back to Dragon when he began to explain his method of communication. She gave Dragon's shell a fond pat when he finished, "please stop apologizing, your explanation was very thorough. It certainly cleared up my misconception regarding how dragons speak."She paused briefly, wondering if she should be amused or hurt by the idea that, to Dragon, she bore no discernible distinguishing features that would tell her apart from, she looked around, the crotchety baker frowning by the side.Anariel looked down as glimmers of light began to dance across Dragon's shell, appropriately mesmerized by the pattern, but all thoughts of beauty flitted out of her mind at Dragon's words."Oh," she mumbled softly, feeling a sense of mild panic rise in her heart, "does this mean I can not come back and visit you?"She had not considered that this could be her only opportunity to speak with him.As a sense of vague despondency settled over her, Anariel more than welcomed Dragon's question, hoping it would distract her from her sudden gloominess.Water repellant-?Genuinely flustered by the oddness of the question, she floundered slightly, "um, I am not?"
silver_winged • 22 January 2012 at 11:14 PM
@pastelfeathersThe black egg seemed perplexed by Anariel's laughter. "Are my words amusing?" he inquired--not sarcastically, but not entirely innocently. He was rapidly distracted, though, by the progression of the conversation. "Damon told me that humans used to have a very keen mind-voice as well," he continued, subconsciously indicating the dark-haired man. "But as they more and more relied on spoken word, the race fell out of practice. There are cases where human infants--typically raised by elves or another magical species--are brought up reliant on this kind of speech. If they continued to use it, the ability would stay with them. He compared it to the way that human infants are born able to swim, but must be taught later in life if not introduced to water at their young age. Mages often try to rework their minds this way, but learning to swim is far easier than breaking a lifetime of habit."He made a sound equivalent to the clearing of his throat, possibly picked up from some human he'd come in contact with. "I'm rambling now," he confessed apologetically."Oh!" he responded, startled by the way she had taken his words. "I was simply referring to the fact that dragons don't often come into human cities. I suppose you would be welcome to come visit me whenever you wished, if I was about."His startled reaction persisted as he realized that, perhaps, his question may not make a lot of sense to her. "It's going to rain today," he explained meekly. "Before sunset."

sakura2596 • 22 January 2012 at 11:19 PM
@silver_winged Silverstarr waited he dragon to respond.
silver_winged • 22 January 2012 at 11:29 PM
@sakura2596 ((Sorry. ^^; It's easier for me to see your reply if you ping me.))"That sounds fun," the pearly egg responded delightedly. "I can't wait to go out into the world. My mama said that we're supposed to live in forests . . . what are those like?"
sakura2596 • 22 January 2012 at 11:35 PM
@silver_winged "They are crowded and good for protection,I see where your mother was going with that, but,it can easily catch fire and turned into nothing." Silverstarr told the dragon, reasuring that it would happen.
silver_winged • 22 January 2012 at 11:38 PM
@sakura2596"What lives in the forest that makes it so crowded?" she asked curiously. "And my mama said we always lived in the forest--her mama, and her mama's mama, and her mama's mama's mama . . . we all lived in the forest, she told me, for lots and lots of years. So I don't see how it can turn into nothing that fast!" Her statement wasn't defiant, but it certainly was skeptical.
sakura2596 • 22 January 2012 at 11:43 PM
"There are trees and other things that grow there. Animals live and hunt there as well. You will know what they are once your rider comes to you."
silver_winged • 22 January 2012 at 11:45 PM
@sakura2596The pearly egg didn't seem satisfied with Silverstarr's response, but she didn't object. "Hm," she merely said, distracted for the moment. "I feel like I've been waiting for forever in this egg!"
sakura2596 • 22 January 2012 at 11:54 PM
"Ummm,i don't know if i am suppose to ask you..." Silverstarr told the dragon, making sure she knew what Silverstarr was refering to.
bunnyshadow • 23 January 2012 at 12:28 AM
@silver_winged Sylvia just laughed then said more seriously. "That kind of hurt thought... So do you want to show the spectators that 2 dragons hatched?"
pastelfeathers • 23 January 2012 at 1:26 AM
@silver_wingedAnariel shook her head, realizing belatedly that she was not certain if Dragon could actually see her gestures, "not your words Dragon, I am simply laughing at my own actions."The continued explanation Dragon gave regarding the subject of mind-voice was rather intriguing and Anariel tilted her head slightly as a thought occurred to her, "does this mean that an individual with a keen mind-voice would not require physical touch in order to establish an initial connection?"The girl smiled when the hatchling apologized, "please Dragon, there is no need to be sorry, I find the topic to be quite fascinating."She paused, hesitant about her next words, then decided to plunge on, feeling decidedly reckless as she did so, "and besides, if we are going to be friends, there is no need for apologies."A pause, during which Anariel brushed a stray strand of hair from her vision and wondered if perhaps she had been too presumptuous in stating what she did. She truly did wish to befriend Dragon, but she was beginning to feel rather guilty about monopolizing his time. The more time he spent conversing with her, the less time he had with other potential riders. She nodded at his assurance, at least she would not have to fear that their conversation would be restricted to only one day. Then Anariel paused. She gave the sky a blank stare, then looked down at the dark egg in her hands. "Rain?" she questioned curiously, "how ever did you predict that forecast?"
