"Well, that is quite the odd story," he commented. "Please forgive me if I'm being too forthcoming, but you really should relax. It wouldn't do any good for you to convince a dragon to bond with you if you were holding up a pretense. Say exactly what you mean to say." The heat surrounding him dimmed just a tad.

The opalescent egg tried desperately not to sound amused. "I have a fairly good idea as to which brother that was. You'll have to excuse him; he has an odd complex involving manners. He is the most formal soul you'll encounter, unless you break his sacred terms of politeness." Her words had a playful mocking tone to them. "I doubt he would have been fully impressed unless you'd approached him and bowed." She suppressed another laugh. "Now, did you say something similar? 'I could really use a dragon like you'--did you say that to him?"

The warmth from the egg increased a little. "If you like, you're more than welcome to talk about yourself," he said. "Really, you can talk about whatever you like. I'd be happy to listen."

She made a sighing noise now. "That would explain it--my mother and her rider warned me about this. Now, imagine this: you're gathered at a . . . oh, dear. Where do humans gather?"

Seemingly from out of nowhere, the man responded, "Taverns." He didn't even turn around.

"Right, so imagine you're at a tavern with several other people. You're not opposed to the idea of someone talking to you, but you're minding your own business. Suddenly, an odd man approaches you, stares at you, and says, 'I would love to be your husband,' or, 'I could really use a woman like you in my life.' Keep in mind you've never met this man before. Now, please examine your introductory comments to us. You ought to see what I mean."

The pearly egg gave an exasperated sigh. "There's no need to cry, really. I'm not angry, I just don't want to see you do that to any more of us. It is a very poor first impression." She seemed to feel uncomfortable with the girl's crying, but refrained from saying so.

((Would it be all right if you didn't use smiley faces in your posts? ^^; I love them ooc, but they kind of break up the roleplay for me . . . ))

@silver_winged Sylvia stopped crying. "Oh, well what do you want to know? I like drawing, archery and many other thinfs. I like snakes and reptiles. Dragons are my favorite animals though. And gold and black and silver are my favorite colors. Gold just like your egg!"

It was remarkable how quickly the young dragon's mood fell from cheery to profoundly irritated. "Again," he said, bristling, "stop it. There was no purpose at all for your comment about fire other than to flatter me."

The man thought for a moment. "Well," he offered, "it would be helpful if you could tell me what you are. I know a spell for revealing something's earth form, but it has to be tailored to species. Sorry--" he added, "earth form refers to how something looks without any magic residue. You say you're not involved in magic; if that's true, your form should be exactly the same as how you look now."

"Well, dragons are the best," she agreed playfully before becoming a bit more reserved. With an almost embarrassed tone, she murmured, "I'm afraid I don't understand . . . colors? I don't see," she explained. "Not yet."

The man sighed, sheathed his sword, and rolled up his sleeves. Before beginning, however, he paused. "You wouldn't happen to have any curses in the lineage, would you? Some of those take a while to have effect," he reminded her, frowning slightly.

Silverstarr's heart drpped,she felt as if she was acused for nothing. She fell silant after she heard what the dragon said. She had no dought that the dragon would like her.

Well it doesnt matter i have black chest length hair that curls at the bottom, with long purple bangs covering my left eye its completely natural. Im wearing a black dress with ruffles from the right shoulder to the left waist and black boots and also , the only things i've gotten from my parents. A silver necklace with a saphire the shape of a raindrop on it and from my mother, my purple eyes... And.. I have a dagger in mt boots. I dont mean harm but just in case!", Sylvia didnt want to lie to the dragon.

He then began uttering words under his breath--though difficult to hear, it seemed they were not in the language the two of them had been speaking. After a few seconds of this, he closed his eyes, breathing in deeply, continuing to chant. After a few more seconds, the spell was over. "Well," he muttered, displeased, "I'd bet on your great-grandfather being cursed. Your current form isn't exactly clean."

"And that was what I was looking for," the pearly egg responded with a sigh. "This is always a difficult thing to explain, but I'm afraid we're not a match. I'm . . . I'm just not mean-spirited. Not in the slightest. And I don't think I could be with someone who is." She sighed again, with a mix of sadness and apprehension about the girl's reaction. "You're going to have to try again, I'm afraid."

The man shook his head. "I can't trust foreign magic," he explained. With a deep, rumbling sigh, the dragon stood up again. 'Calm down, the both of you. You, girl--don't move.' A few long moments went by; the man shifted uncomfortably. The dragon sighed again. 'She's fine,' she concluded, lying down next to her eggs. 'It was the curse. If you ask nicely, we can even take that off for you--but the point is, you may try with the eggs . . . I suppose.' She didn't seem all too happy about it.

It was suddenly hard to breath for Silverstarr. She knew the dragon was trying to make her leave but she stayed,wondering if she should apologize.

The heat of the egg rose again, almost hostile. "If there is doubt," he said, the gentle tone to his voice gone, "then clearly we are not meant to be together. Please leave." Abruptly, all the heat vanished, leaving the early morning cold once again.
