While the girl seemed satisfied with his words, the dragon hatchling grew more frustrated. "I would not hatch for a person that did not want me," he growled. "I am not some stupid animal that rushes into life-long decisions." The static grew to a crackle again. "Clearly, your parents must have left you early, because they failed to teach you any manners." Even he seemed to realize that his last statement may have been too much; he paused, now, and sighed. Though the anger had not left him, his words held much more control. "I do not trust nor honor your hasty disposition. From within the shell of this egg, I do not see eyes, or hair, or skin--they are inconsequential. A dragon and rider are not just companions; they are two halves of the same whole, joined at the very essence of their being. Not always alike, but at the deepest part of their soul . . . together." He was quiet for a long moment, the gentle hiss of electricity being the only thing ensuring that he was still there. "Do you have anything else you'd like to say?"

The rider unsheathed his sword now, the silvery blade glowing pink in the sunrise. He drew the same symbol he'd made earlier with his hands into the air, using the tip of his sword. The mother dragon stood up at her full height, towering over the both of them. She unclenched her jaw, showing a rolling mass of fire at the back of her throat. 'I will give you one more chance to leave,' said the dragon, now. Her light, feminine voice was vicious beyond measure. 'For you will not lay a finger upon my children.'

A change came upon the man, suddenly. He closed his eyes, and took in a deep breath. "Elidara . . . " he murmured, shaking his head. There were a few quiet seconds as the two exchanged words. "If you can prove to me that you are not of demon kin, you may try. But I must be wholly convinced," he finally responded, opening his eyes.

sound stares up at her. "I can prove it. just tell me how." she says calmly, completly unafriad. She uncrosses her arms, her ears perking up and her eyes sparkling.

The man, with clear difficulty, made eye contact with her. "I was hoping you had a way," he said, shifting his grip on the sword. Though he was willing to talk it through, it seemed that he was still suspicious.


((On "calling" eggs:
I meant to put a note like this in my original posts, I swear. I just forgot. ^^; Anyway, "calling" is acceptable if you merely want to be the first to talk to an egg. However, you cannot say, "This egg is mine and none of you can take it." That defies the purpose of the conversations and may result in an incompatible match. Okie dokie?))

Silverstarr touched one of the eggs with her eyes closed. She felt something weird then opened her eyes. Her finger was on the grey egg, she wondered what to do next,then remembered what the man said.

@silver_winged No one has ever insulted Sylvia like this before. The dragon in the black egg has gone to far. "They left me when i was 5 maybe if i was lucky 6...", sylvia replied quietly. "Even though they are gone i still have memorys of them. Wishes that they were still alive, hopes that i'll see them again. Dreams that they'll still take care of me. You still have a mother. Every creatre, human, demon, animal has fears, hopes and loves. The world is like a cycle that never completes , every thing knows there part but i do not know mine, no one tells me what to do or anything. I've lost all hope in the thing i've hoped to become, and i as i've realized now that no one will truly love me. I have no friends, nor family nor even a pet. So i've decided to try to love but it hasnt been working, and you are right, they had left me and i lost my manners. I physically and mentally lost my mind." as Sylvia finished she let tears she's been holding for days, months, years fall out of her eyes. "it would he ok.. If you didnt hatch for me thOugh.. I still have some chances with the other eggs... Im sorry.. For the inconveniece, all i am is an inconvenience, a thorn a scratch to everyone"

The grey egg responded with a wash of heat. It was not an uncomfortable sensation; rather, it was like drawing near to a fireplace on a cold night, feeling the heat dance upon one's cheeks and soothe them like a lullaby. "Greetings," a male voice hummed, calm and content.

"Stop crying," he demanded almost immediately. The anger was gone from his voice, replaced by a tired edge. "Wallowing in self-pity is very unattractive. Now, listen, because I'm only going to say this once." He paused, gathering up his thoughts, the static buzz shifting as he did so. "My mother," he began finally, "was sick. Healthy dragons will clutch between five and ten eggs at a time; of her last clutch, I was her only." The buzz lowered in pitch, vibrating deeply. "This was explained to me by the man and dragoness standing before you; she perished mere weeks later. I no longer grieve." There was another long pause. "The first thing you need to learn is that the world owes you nothing. You feel as if something has been taken from you, I know, but that attitude must change. You also owe nothing to the world. It can have no expectations of you. You must simply be what you are." The humming noise fluctuated. "Many of you humans spend your whole lives looking for yourselves. It's time for you to stop asking others and start asking yourself." He exhaled, mimicking a sound he must have learned from the dragon.

"Hello." She said to the dragon egg. The heat felt nice on her skin. It was like jumping into a pool of soothing water. She greeted it with a warming smile.

"You are doing it again," he reminded her, unamused. "The wallowing. It will not do a thing, other than continue to make you feel bad." He paused, slightly uncomfortable. "As much as you insist you're willing to leave, I am very aware that you want me to let you stay. However, I am very sure of myself; I do not think I could live with someone who is not. Good luck, girl." With that, he was silent. The lack of noise was almost oppressive after having listened to the buzz for several minutes.

"Greetings," the hatchling repeated, this time in response. Even his voice had a warm, soothing quality. He did not say any more, seeming content to sit in silence if she was.

The opalescent egg gave off an invigorating air; bright, clear, like the chime of a bell. The voice that appeared this time was female, but it was not excessively high pitched. Instead, it was richly toned, colored playful by her mood but still elegant and lovely. "Hello there," she sang warmly. "My, my, what seems to be the problem?"

The glowing egg gave off a contented hum. "It's too soon to be making those kind of decisions," he responded decidedly--not angry or otherwise frustrated, but still absolute. "After all, I don't even know your name."

"Yes, I have no family, I've had to raise myself. There is no dought that they are still alive. So,when i grew up i gave myself a name. I know it is odd,but it has grown on me. There's no sense changing it now after all these years." She told the dragon,trying not to offened it.

@silver_winged "Your nicer than anyone i've met before. Others judge me by my face. But you understand whats really going on? My father and mother died when i was barely 5 or 6, i was talking to one of your brothers and he said something that was... Hurtful. Insulting my manners saying Your parents must have died when youbwere truly young before you learned some manners, something like that. I could really use a dragon like you in my life" Sylvia said quickly.
