@mastergemma do you feel like in general seasons have felt... "more" than they used to? Like colder in winter and hotter in summer? Unless I'm just getting old and this is a normal way to feel, I'm so much more sensitive to temperature these days.

I used to play PoGo so much! I had to stop because I was playing too much but hatching eggs was just so exciting. Did you hit the level cap? I can't remember if they expanded the cap to a higher level or not.

I've been playing Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness on my DS and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on my 3DS (I switch between the two a lot) but playing a summery game outside in summer feels so right :]

@jarsha Different seasons have definitely felt 'more' to me in the past 5-6 years. Winter here is almost non-existent, maybe 2-3 weeks of true 'winter' weather a year, but the storms we used to have a couple times a year have been more frequent the past few years (I've really noticed because power outages have been more frequent and my dog gets super scared during storms).
And the summer heat, my goodness. We currently have a heat warning in effect with temps expected up to 115F. I don't really do much outside during the summer because of that, but even just stuff like grocery shopping leads to overheating and just crashing when I get home. Oh, and I usually take my dog for walks in the middle of the night to avoid the worst of the heat, but last night I checked the temp and it was 92 at 2am!

@heatherm19 Those are some wild temperatures, and I think for me near the end of winter it was hitting pretty hot temperatures when it normally doesn't. I love summer but it has become very difficult to be out in it for very long most days. Mostly I just like how beautiful green everything becomes, but the trade-off is that it's hard to stand the heat.

92F at 2am is bonkers! How does a person even sleep comfortably in that kind of heat? D:

@jarsha any talks about the weather makes me really sad because we're really seeing the effects of climate change. despite other people's attempts at gaslighting us, along with humans' general inability to remember distant events in time very well, you are correct: weather and temperatures have gotten more severe and has started to affect everyone.

i personally despise the heat, and i've always hated summers, so i'm not exactly blinded by nostalgia when i compare the weather now vs when i was a kid. i feel the summers getting hotter and longer and so i really try to appreciate the weather when it's cold at year-appropriate times. i feel terribly sad when i see people enjoying the heat because this kind of heat is really unnatural and while it might feel comfy for some people for now, we're only a couple years out until it reaches the upper level of everyone's comfort. not to mention the people already suffering in countries that were first hit by the extreme temperature. it's just very sad all around.

@myriadium I often bring it up to my parents when I see them, talking about how "remember when summer wasn't so hot?" or "Remember how in autumn the leaves stayed on the trees longer?" because I do think a lot of people might notice the intensity and changes but are gaslit and in turn gaslight themselves and each other into thinking it was always like this.

I was definitely more heat sensitive as a kid for health reasons, but even then I still don't remember it being as bad for as long as it is now. Summer is shockingly beautiful on principal because of the abundance of greens and how full the trees get, but I can't be in it surrounded by that beauty I love so much for very long at all.

My favorite thing is when a breeze makes all the leaves rustle and the sun is making those leaves practically sparkle, but when even the breeze is so hot it's scary

Speaking of heat/weather... Summer is really not a good time for fans to just up and die. While I have really good air conditioning in this apartment, I still have a fan going almost all the time to circulate the air (especially when I'm trying to sleep). Friday evening that fan died (after about 5 years, it really was a good quality fan). Cue a few moments of absolute panic before remembering the big box fan I rarely use. Because it's noisy and a lot less powerful. But it got me through the weekend, and today I was able to get to Walmart to get a new fan. .... I might have bought 3 new fans. Better safe than sorry.

This got me thinking though. For those of you who use fans in your home, do you prefer to have it pointed away from you, maybe towards the middle of the room to circulate air better? Or do you think it does best pointed towards you? (Apparently this is one of those random things that actually gets argued over online, lol)
Personally, I can't sleep in the summer unless the fan is pointed right at me. Whenever I'm not sleeping it's pointed more toward the middle of the room.

@wonder404exe I was sad to see your dream thread locked. *pout* ... thought I'd ping you in case you'd be interested ^^
I just had a dream I was watching a horror movie, and there in a mug on the dresser was four pencils with toppers that looked just like the chia pets we have. Except the Sey was blue like the horse at the Dullus airport. (don't know if it was a vital clue in the movie, or if I just spotted it. but I remember thinking "Oh, that's where the chia pets come from!")
