I got the beta cave!! Wooo!
sparklefox • 7 January 2014 at 5:21 PM
@Ian - Whenever I go to the Cave, the part with the eggs keeps moving around. I go onto the page, it's in one place, I refresh, and it moves to another place. I'm using one of those tablet thigs, I can't remember its name.
ihave2manycats • 7 January 2014 at 5:40 PM
@Ian. I love the semi transparency on the cave!
qwe47763 • 7 January 2014 at 5:52 PM
so far no bugsi don't like how clicking on a egg takes you to another page
Ian • 7 January 2014 at 6:08 PM
@dragon101 this might be the funniest thing I've ever read on Egg Cave. hahahaha! With regards to the look of Cave, that new look isn't set in stone. Simply trying out things. Likely to change again based on the feedback.
catqeen1234 • 7 January 2014 at 6:32 PM
@Ian The change to scrolling on the second page, AKA no scrolling, is great! Thank you! And I also like that the eggs show up 'in' the cave now đ
Deleted • 7 January 2014 at 6:55 PM
I agree with most people, the navigating to a different page is a little distracting.
ugena • 7 January 2014 at 7:23 PM
I don't like the new look of the beta, the eggs are more apparents if they are below the cave image. Now, I had to look twice to find where you put those eggs. The cave image is great, why should you hide it even a little bit?
beckyfeng08 • 7 January 2014 at 7:23 PM
Love the new format!
ilovedoctorwho • 7 January 2014 at 8:18 PM
@ian My page is weird... It says I've visited 11 times today (only visited once and it's too many times, right? Also, now that it's stopped my creature stealing, the timer is confusing me. Why do I have to wait 11 minutes (8:29 or something) to steal again? So... yeah.
jahnine • 7 January 2014 at 8:42 PM
The Beta Cave is pretty cool ^-^
momokie • 7 January 2014 at 9:32 PM
@ugena People were complaining they had to scroll farther every time the page refreshed, so the change was to limit the scroll amount.
Deleted • 7 January 2014 at 9:50 PM
@ILoveDoctorWhoI think it's normal, it's the same thing for me. Maybe we can steal more than once a day but we have to wait a certain amount of time?
Orderedchaos • 7 January 2014 at 10:00 PM
@ilovedoctorwho @starling As stated in the first post in this topic, this new Cave gives you 10 tries then you get 1 more 15-30 minutes after that. Then one more 15-30 min. after that, ect. This is currently a test to work out any bugs, weird things, new things, ect. before the new Cave gets released to the whole site.
sammiwolf • 7 January 2014 at 10:46 PM
Going to step up and agree with just about everyone else. I prefer to old pop-up method. This new method makes the process way slower than it used to be (or needs to be). Also, like I've seen mentioned, I like the previously found eggs options as I am accident prone where clicks are concerned. Also, the shift to put the egg line in the cave picture itself looks out of place. Likely because of the background bar that keeps it from blending in to the picture. I actually thought at first my internet was screwing up on me and that the page hadn't loaded properly. Personally, I think it looked much better the way it was.
ilovedoctorwho • 7 January 2014 at 11:13 PM
@starling @orderedchaosEven so, I've only stolen once today, as you can also sort of see in the picture.
stormdragonxi • 7 January 2014 at 11:59 PM
@IanSome of the changes are good, but I'm just not all for being diverted to another page for the adoption. You show the eggs under the cave, if you miss it, it's right there. I don't see what makes going to another page more secure for adoptions, when they'll still be right there at the cave page.
kitty999 • 8 January 2014 at 1:01 AM
@Ian lol i'm differend đ
crystal_dragon1997 • 8 January 2014 at 1:50 AM
I don't like how it redirects you to a new page âšī¸
crooton1 • 8 January 2014 at 3:33 AM
@ian why was I chosen?
dugarjzlafreohr • 8 January 2014 at 3:33 AM
@IanThe concept for finding eggs "in the cave" is good, but I personally don't like having the image overlaying the cave itself. Perhaps if there were spots you could click in the cave to find eggs? Like idk if you were to click behind a rock and suddenly there's an egg? And there would be certain spots like that where you could potentially find eggs each day?
ushafuse • 8 January 2014 at 3:55 AM
@Ian Yay, nice new cave. But I don't want the cave to go to the pet's page immediatly after getting them. And is there a creature limit? If there is, aww I hoped I can have a much more creatures in my cove. Hope you'll fulfill my dreams!
paddycakes • 8 January 2014 at 4:19 AM
@Ian I agree with dugarjzlafreohr's suggestion - having areas of the cave you can click, rather than clicking the eggs would make it a lot more interesting (and make it look better than having the eggs overlaying the background, seeing as on a 1600x900 resolution, I still have to scroll down to get to see the eggs). When you click an egg, could it not be in an iframe or something, so that bit of the page loads, without taking you to an entirely new page (which then might help resolve the annoyance of having to scroll down each time, as you'd already be at the right level)?
hathor89 • 8 January 2014 at 4:30 AM
The good thing about the new design is you can see your next attempt above the cave. The bad (and really bad) thing is half of the cave is not properly visible because of the eggs. That's really making me sad because I loved seeing the whole cave clearly. This halfly transparent white between the eggs you can choose totally ruins the cave in my eyes. I liked it much better with the eggs being underneath the cave picture.I also don't like the new page coming up when you found an egg. The cave is missing on that one. I think it's really great that there's no popup any more (hated that when online on mobile device). But I liked it a whole lot better when you saw the cave above the egg. I don't care if I have to wait a little piece of a second longer to load that page. Now it looks just so...blah. Not nice. Without love. Know what I am trying to say?
sophia123 • 8 January 2014 at 4:33 AM
well, i like the eggs "in" the cave- less scrolling for me^^and i would prefer pop-up-windows again for the catched eggs, but as it is now it is ok too... i am not sooo picky (in my opinion ;-) )and what would you think about smaller clickable eggs into the cave? i mean as part of the pic?maybe one in front of the cave and the others on different place in the cave... (a bit like easter egg hunt, but with bigger eggs, wich you can see very well) that could make both sides happy- the "i don't want to scroll" group and the "i want to see the whole cave" group!
Deleted • 8 January 2014 at 5:39 AM
@hathor89 Mmmh I kinda agree with you ...I surely love some of the changes for the new cave, but the scrolling thing and the deletion of the pou up thing makes it ... dunno, less elegant. :/ I didn't mind scrolling the page for stealing the eggs, never found it annoing actually and yeah, that transparent thing in which the eggs are is kinda strange. I liked to see the whole cave image as well. ^^
hathor89 • 8 January 2014 at 5:44 AM
@sophia123That's a nice idea. I would definitely support this. If the eggs were a part of the Cave picture it would be really great. At the moment they somehow like don't belong there.@wererage Thanks a lot for understanding. đ Less elegant...yeah, that pretty much covers it. Partially. đ What do you think of sophias idea?
Deleted • 8 January 2014 at 5:47 AM
@hathor89 @sophia123 I think it would be a nice idea as well. â¤ī¸Dunno how codes works (I'm very bad with them), but If a similar thing would be possible, it would be a fun thing. However, the image would be still a black egg with a "?" mark on it ... it would be nicer If the eggs showed their patterns but with that, of course, there wouldn't be the catching-a-mysterious-egg thing.
hathor89 • 8 January 2014 at 6:03 AM
@wererage Well, in the Halloween Event last year we could see it is possible to make smaller pieces in a picture link to something. So I think it should be possible to implement the eggs a little nicer for the eye. Maybe the color should change so you see them better in the darkness of the cave. Something lighter maybe. I think it would be too much to show the patterns of the eggs. That'd be more difficult to code I guess...I'm not familiar with codes at all, so maybe I'm wrong.@IanWhat do you think? Would it be possible to do this a little nicer? Or do we ask for too much?
