Hello friends!

We have quietly removed post-purchase CaveCash gifting through the Cash Shop Park. This gifting feature caused an imbalance within Egg Cave's economy and created a currency war: Egg Coins versus CaveCash.

All players of Egg Cave have felt the effects of this currency war: (1) decreased purchasing power of the Egg Coin in the free markets, (2) an increasing amount of solely "CaveCash trades" in the TC, and (3) increased scamming to obtain CaveCash.

Keeping these two currencies more separate will do the following: (1) give EC more purchasing power, (2) restore balance in the free markets, and (3) remove the ability of players to scam for CaveCash. To further repair both currencies, I am happy to announce that we will be releasing both Cash Shop Monthlies and something new called "Cave Monthlies" starting in June 2013. And instead of 3 Cash Shop Monthly creatures, there will only be 2.

Two CSP. Two Cave. All four monthly creatures. Every month. Starting June 2013. This restores balance.

We recognize that players may be uneasy about these changes. If you feel this way, I encourage you go with it, as it may take a couple of months for the free markets to repair themselves. The economy will be affected, yes. But we think you'll find these effects to be very positive on the gameplay.

Ultimately, this is about keeping the free markets open to all players. And it's about keeping Egg Cave free to play for everybody. Thank you for your understanding and helping us protect Egg Cave players.

I have posted this on the Forums (and not the Blog) because I felt this was particularly relevant to our most active and loyal players. If you happen to disagree with these changes, please discuss on this topic with grace and forethought. Any hateful comments will be removed.

Long live Egg Cave.

Sound great.

@Ian While I'm a little upset that the Gifting CaveCash feature was removed (especially since I owe someone CC), I agree with this motion and think it will only improve Egg Cave in the future. 😊

I think adding the Cave Monthlies is a great idea! 😊 It'll definitely help restore balance 😊

But, on a side note, I think CC is a bit too expensive.
That's the only reason my parents won't let me get it ☚ī¸

Yay! Thank you so much! I have eagerly been awaiting this change, and I'm glad to see it happen! This will probably keep some users from quitting, too, because the CC Market has finally been "closed down" and everything will be more equal than before, so those unable to purchase CC will no longer "need" it so much. I'm so happy to see this change!

That's great. I like how we get cave monthlies now since I can't buy CC so now I can get new creatures too 😊

@Ian Thank you so much. I really appreciate your point of view and agree to some degree. However many players that I know are not allowed to buy Cc because of the price. I understand you also have to make some money and keep the site up, but perhaps a slight price change would make a difference? Just an idea. I do LOVE the idea of cave monthlies though *hugs*

It'll be a little harder. But I am so for this idea, No more "I'm only accepting CC sorry" It'll be way easier for trading. In change I might buy CC with real money.

@Ian This sounds much better than I expected but, just to be sure, there'll be no way to transfer CC to other people anymore? So if, say, I was trading a critter for CC, I wouldn't be able to do that? I'm a little worried about what this means for people who have CC, because now it has very little purchasing power.

I do like the idea of cave creatures being released every month though! It'll be like the Mirkang and Luciales! I've been wondering if that would ever happen. 😊

@Ian
IMO you should have given a 24-72 hour notice for people who still owe cc to others.

Also, why did you not make a blog post? As an active trader, I do read the trade forum, but not this one, and only happened upon it by chance!

This decision is a good one, don't get me wrong, but by allowing it to happen for so long, then shutting it down without notice, was too abrupt.

This is a great change, really. Now I may finally be able to trade for creatures I've been after forever. CaveCash giving created a very restricted environment for new users, too. If they didn't buy CaveCash, they didn't even have a chance to get recent but unavailable creatures. Hence the reason new players haven't been sticking around as of late.

Egg Cave will be a much happier place now! ;D

@Ian what if we have an uneven amount of cavecash? My sister has 202cc and that's not enough to get a monthly, so what does it do?

Well, I guess this is mostly a good thing, it was getting tiring that we had to mostly exchange cc for good creatures.

@Ian I'm glad EC will have more value, finally! 😊 I do have a question, though. Will the Cave monthlies retire at the end of the month or remain in the Cave?

@Ian;

Thank-you so much for getting this ball rolling on correcting people getting out-of-hand with asking for and promising CC.
I think people thought they could use CC however they wanted after Gifting was implemented. If you are gifting someone something, you're giving it to them for nothing in return.
Not for trading travels/creatures/prizes/etc.

The Cave Monthlies sounds like a nice addition!
Maybe now people who can't buy CC won't feel as left out.
😊

I feel relieved that this was implemented/taken away.

I do have a question though.
What are you going to do about all the trades currently in the Trade Center saying
"Looking for CC only"?

@sstwins

You are correct in that there is not a way to transfer CaveCash between accounts. It is non-transferrable.

@korikill

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

@riverthatflows

Great thought. We'll have to figure out some creative solution to get those back to multiples of 50 CC.

Maybe have a "CC disposal" For CC that is left over.

I do believe Cave Monthlies means they will be here for 1 month only.

Will the Cave Monthlies be in the Cave? Or will we get to purchase them with our EggCoins?

@takatheeducatedkid
Having them purchasable with EggCoins would be fun!
Gives EC more purpose and need.

Maybe, to fix the issues of the odd amounts of CC, there would be a way to exchange it for EC? 😊

So now, are only way to obtain CC is to purchase it? -.-

@marie_lily

Yes.
But that's the fair way.
The purpose of CC was to buy things in the Cash Shop, not to trade it away for creatures/travels/etc.

@Whispers

That would be a nice idea.

Thank you soooo much! 😃 I haven't been able to trade for ANYTHING lately because of the 'only accepting CC' issue. Even though I'm unable to buy CC, I'm very glad that the whole CC trading can finally end. It was starting to ruin EC, I think. It was making it too hard for users who are unable to buy CC get their wish list creatures.

I was just about to send CC to someone...And now I can't! I don't know what to do now that this has been updated. Hmm, what can I do?

This will definitely calm down the citizens who were complaining before! ^^

The only problem I think now is that now a limited amount of people will be able to obtain CC now and there will be less trading.

I want everyone to be able to trade, but now it's going to be harder to get CC eggs -_-

Ahh, well. 😋

I am a bit bummed that the CC transfer feature has been done away with, since one of my RL friends usually gets CC for me, transfers it to my account and I pay her back the next day. That made things much easier for me because my CC purchases always have to be manually approved and that sometimes takes quite awhile.

Oh well. I guess I'll just have to go back to trading my friend common cave eggs to get my monthlies.

...And now I don't know what to do with the 150 CC I have on hand at the moment. I can spend 100, but there's absolutely nothing I can do with 50 CC.

I do not like the fact that the gifting CC feature was removed... Now it will be much harder to trade CC, and when I needed the feature most now I will not be able to use it. :/ I really have nothing else to trade and now I am kind of in a rough spot because of no more trading...

However, I do like that there will be two caves and two Cash Shop Park creatures...

Ultimately, I don't like the decision, but I will try to go along with it for now.
