New Cave Limited Beta

Hello!

About 1,000 users have been selected to be a part of the limited beta for the new Cave. This beta shall move a bit quicker.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE BETA?

If the Cave looks different. If it looks the same, you're not in the beta group.

NEW FEATURES

- 10 steal attempts instantly
- Additional steal attempts at timed intervals
- View creature gender before adopting
- Ability to view previously approached eggs for a couple of minutes, in case you lost the attempt
- Done away with Javascript pop ups for adoption; more reliability for steal attempts

BUG FIXES / CHANGE LOG

3 Jan: You must select an egg to approach
3 Jan: Fixed gender icon before stealing (they were reversed)

4 Jan: Removed automatic redirect to creature profile upon adoption
4 Jan: Removed egg descriptions
4 Jan: Fixed an error that displayed twice on the page
4 Jan: Updated the "successfully adopted" page, grammar/UI fixes

7 Jan: Improved the clock accuracy for next steal attempt time
7 Jan: The Cave's "next steal attempt" time calculation now factors in the midnight reset
7 Jan: Fixed a bug that occurred when you attempted to use an already-taken creature name
7 Jan: Re-enforced the 14 character limit for creature names
7 Jan: UI changes, so you don't have to scroll as much

8 Jan: Major UI changes (again)

17 Jan: Released a brand-new version of the beta Cave that requires no page refreshes

20 Jan: Gender wasn't displaying correctly for when viewing Previously Viewed Eggs

27 Jan: Added Notification when you've got another steal attempt

Well I just happened upon the new cave and so far no problems, but was quite surprised and not sure if I will like it or not. Need a few more days.

It's essentially the same functionality as before. 10 instant steal attempts per day, and then your steal attempts are in timed intervals.

Visit back at the next steal attempt then! If you're a part of the limited beta you should see a timer. If not, then you're not seeing the new Cave.

Seems to be going well so far, I like the "Previously Found Eggs" feature.

The only problem I'm seeing is that I stole this egg and it was displayed in the cave as male but turned out to be female when I adopted it.

I like it but not really the descriptions of the eggs, just kinda clunkier with them o3o Everything else I like though 😸 Nothing gone wrong for me so far though it's slower than how it used to be with loading x3

@despair When you visit the Cave if you see the words "Next Steal Attempt" followed by a time, right above where the eggs are, then you are part of the beta. The page itself also looks different than normal.

Good find. There was a bug that had the gender icons switched. Fixed now.

Ok......

I heard from a friend that if you purchased cc, you would be a more likely applicant for betas.

I purchased a lot of CC on this account, so I wanted to see by chance if the Cave beta was on here.

It was, but Ive already used 10 attempts on @despair

Do I test or just leave it alone?

I just pick them like I used to. I have a pattern (majorly OCD). I try not ta pay attention ta them cause yeah, it's also misleading as you said o3o Some of them anyways. Some don't really make a difference.

I don't like the redirection to a different page when stealing an egg. I find the original pop-up much more convenient so I don't have to click back and forth. Maybe it's just my slow computer, though...

However, I do love the Previously Found Eggs. I make a habit of accidentally clicking out of LEs, so that would be helpful. 😋

Also, the additional steal attempts at timed intervals are great! Maybe we could receive a notification if we are available for another attempt?

I agree that the descriptions are unnecessary and misleading.
